As someone who's just moved into my Tiny House, the excitement of finding some land to park is next level!! I'm always so impressed by your determination and your motivation to just get things done - what I wouldn't do for a Stephen!! I love his carport!!
You probably won’t see this Max but I’ve been with you from the very beginning. This is a huge turning point. Casual mention of girlfriend, new partners on land and of course the new excavator. My family grew up with heavy earth moving equipment. I see your happiness and excitement. So happy to see this phase of your life. Dear Max. Happy for you, no one is more deserving. It will be fun to watch developments.
I am a 49 year old female from West Virginia and I love driving an excavator and backhoe!! Growing up my Dad worked for an excavating company and would bring equipment home to do projects. He taught me how to use one. And then 6 years ago I started working as an Administrative Assistant at a cemetery. One of our maintenance men who did the grave digging asked me one day if I knew how to drive and use a backhoe, I told him yes but it had been awhile. So he gave me a quick refresher. He wanted to know that someone else besides him could use it in case something happened. So I totally get your excitement and I am very happy for you!!!!
Well done Max. That is the only piece of machinery that can get thru our red mud. I'm green with envy. I live near you. I recognise everything and I love your channel. Max, so excited for you and Occy to have some full time friends close by. The property is plenty big enough for sure. You and they will both benefit from being together. I am sure you have many other projects planned and the man and woman power will be a big plus. Best of luck to you all as you move forward together. Looking forward to seeing Occy romping with his new pal.
Proving once again that the kitchen is the heart of a home, your kitchen remodel completely changes the warmth and character of the cottage - it is absolutely stunning in its own little way. Steven will (already has) save you so much time and energy - and is so much fun! Excellent investment. And, like others, I'm thrilled that you are already gathering like-minded people to share your property and your joy. You deserve all this happiness.
Wonderful video this week. I am glad for the company you will have. First things first. Be sure to sign tenancy agreements that spell out who owns what, who pays how much and to whom. I know you are kind, and you mean well, but as the property owner, you need some compensation. What services will you provide? Who owns the tiny house? What utilities are shared and by what percentage? etc. Legalize it! I am looking forward to more exciting content.
@@MaxandOccy I had to use a cement block on mine to get my boat in , PLUS the blocks to hold it down in the winds which I used to tie it down to. And yes I'm jealous of mini Cat Stevens.
Wow, major changes! I'm pleased for you. And I'd like to offer a suggestion: just as good fences make good neighbours, agreements in writing prevent misunderstandings and hurt feelings. I get it that you are all great and kind people, but it would be to the advantage of everyone to put a few things in writing -- just a few ground rules for being on the property. Like: if someone parks a tiny house there, and it turns out that any type of major problems arise, how will you cope with that legally? Agreeing to arbitration by a neutral and certified third party upfront is a good idea. And who would bear the cost of such arbitration? If there are big projects to be done on the property, what is the division of labour and money? If something happens to the water system, for example. Or if, legally, you need to put in one or more septic systems. And then what if a couple has put money into the place and decides for whatever reason to leave? Technically speaking, they could declare some ownership unless you have a written agreement otherwise. Or what if down the road someone wants to share legal ownership? And maybe you are not comfortable with that (whole nother can of worms!) Or...? I know it probably feels weird to make written agreements with friends, but that's what will keep your friendships intact: spelling everything out up front. In the 1980s I had a lot of experience with communes, and I can tell you that most ended badly, in part because things were not put in writing and agreed to from the start. Cheers, and good luck!
Totally agree with this as some of our friends went through a bad situation in Byron and they lost a lot financially, emotionally and lots of time. Some of our other friends are going through this in Coffs Harbour and are having to go through the court process. It all sounds exciting and amazing at the start and you all start out as best friends but as things go on and people decide on different things and dynamics change things can get bad quickly especially when financial things come into play. Good luck! Love your videos and excited for you to have Stephen! 🎉
Yes, I was going to add the same thing. A cohabitation agreement or something like that is important . Also, I imagine you will have looked into necessary permits, etc. Best of luck.

I don't know how it is in Australia, but in the US, you need building permits to build even a deck. Check and make sure before you start building any new projects.
I'm grateful it's the same in the UK. I spent a small fortune buying my home, I'd not be pleased with a commune springing up next door. Certainly wouldn't be happy with all that concrete!
@@samanthaw1419 why would you not be happy with someone putting a floor in their garage/workshop? As for putting tiny homes on a block of land as big as Max and Occy's, he wouldnt be able to do it without planning approval and with the amount of land he has (and trees) he can position a heap of tiny homes there without even being able to see them if he doesnt want to. He's not exactly living in the suburbs.
@@samanthaw1419my closest neighbours are almost a kilometre down the road. I don’t think they’re gonna be too bothered by a couple more people sharing my 5 acres.. And as for the concrete, why would that bother you as a neighbour? You’ll never see it and it wouldn’t be close enough to affect you in any way? Just curious
PLEASE READ: So before you start your build....you better check with whoever does your zoning. Here in the States some places will not allow for tiny homes or for multiple families to live on the same land without approval or rezoning... I would hate to have you build it and they make you take it down...
Cool,to have friends…..my suggestion is to keep the land yours……just charge rent if you have to………so when and if you need or want anyone to leave at anytime you can ask them to leave!!!!! YOU NEVER KNOW……not trying to be negative, just realistic,,,,!!! ALL in ALL,think it will be great to have friends around and a friend for Occy!!!!💞💞💞
The excavator is such a great investment!! I couldn’t believe how big some of the stumps were that you pulled out. The bird hanging out on the top of the water tank was so cool!! I am sad I live in America. It would be fun to stop by and help with your projects. Can’t wait to see the tiny house build. Your friends seem so nice. ❤
Creating a likeminded community on your property is such an awesome step forward. And a new pup for Occy to nose around with, all the better. God bless you all.
How does a community on ones land work? Labor for stay? Contract? I am in new york and anyone staying for 2 weeks or more can take the owner to court and claim to stay and live on property. Even if the owner doesn't agree. Is community different?
@@cutie-44 everything is based on the agreements and they should be in writing and legally binding. Human nature and life circumstances can change things. That’s why agreements are necessary, and even sometimes need to be amended or updated as laws change.
@@MaxandOccy have legal agreements drawn up between you anyway. Seasons change and so can hearts. That’s your investment and you must guard it. I’m optimistic about your friends and plans, but guidelines and guardrails are always wise in this day and age, because the future can be so unpredictable.

Love that you're making your own community there. Just wanted to make sure you have checked all council regulations for having tiny homes etc with your state and local council. How exciting!! Can't wait to see where this new chapter takes you all. It's gonna be awesome that you and Occy have friends on the property now. And another channel to follow? Best way to start the new week! ♥
I'm a little concerned for you, Max. Given your recent incident with council re:ladder. Maybe you are allowing friends to come over and build some tiny guest houses for them to stay in when they visit OCCASIONALLY. After all, they live in vans. Why do they need a tiny home.😉 Better still, they are large storage sheds for your friends who live in vans. You may have already checked with the council. If not, be careful, I know I have seen stories on TV re councils prohibiting tiny homes on vast areas of land (I live in Australia). Apparently, the fact that no one can see you and you can accommodate many people changes nothing. I wonder what little Max would have said if he knew he would own Steve when he was a big boy.😅 Looks like your property is the place to be these days. Sounds like lots of fun. Take care.
Pound some PVC in to the ground and fill with concrete to add height to your tent. You can even mount the feet to the concrete with screws so it can’t blow away. Love how everything is coming together!!
The most important thing you said in this video. My dad always says '''I only get one back '', LETS say when your in your early 50s life still has a helluva lot to offer but i messed up my back through work & now im disabled & in constant daily pain. Save your back guys it sucks all the joy from life when you freck it up.
Max, probably not the best idea to have backfilled the trench with rocks, as my experience in the construction industry has seen a lot of poly-pipe being crushed and severed using rock as backfill, then running over that rock backfill with the excavator. Usually you are supposed to put a layer of river sand in the bottom of the trench, place the pipe and then cover the pipe with more river sand. Finally the las 100mm minimum you backfill with the soil from the trench with no rocks. Fingers are crossed you haven't damaged that poly pipe!
@@MaxandOccy No worries I'm really hoping you succeed with the property and your plans for it. Just another thing I'll mention, is to check and double check what the zoning regs are with your local Council, regarding Tiny Homes, what is allowed and what isn't, access to bring the Tiny Home up the road leading to your property, the need to advise neighbours of any heavy transit trucks trailering a Tiny home to your property, etc. Some Australian states have weird laws regarding putting a tiny Home on your land, on top of that some councils then again also have different requirements compared the state ones as well. Some councils allow you to have a trailable Tiny Home for short stays or for your permanent main accommodation but you have to leave the wheels on the trailer to allow the Tiny Home to be classed as a "Caravan". Other councils require you to put down slabs and piers to sit the Tiny Home on, run water and power to it (again, permits required for that) but then for the permission to put the Tiny Home in, you now have to pay extra council rates on the "dwelling" as it means more revenue to the council, Council Waste Services have to pickup an extra bin on Bin Days, etc!! Not wanting to be a contrarian with this, but I remember the hassles you had with someone dobbing you in a few months ago when you were working on the cabin, and someone had to come out and inspect what you were doing, so you really do need to plan this out before attempting any work as there maybe permits you have to get before doing any remedial work (concrete slab foundations, piers, Trees that are in the road, etc) and of course making sure you don't piss off the neighbours, as the Council will possibly take their point of view over yours as they've been living there longer than you have been. Unfortunately, you buy a property these days and it's still not quite all yours, someone somwhere has a hand out to allow you to do what you want! Fingers crossed this goes well for you and Occy, m8!.
Very cool! Looks like so much fun, now you are cooking with fire. Those temporary car ports can be raised with chain link fence top rail. I had to do that when I painted my camper.

Exciting! Have you thought about giving Occy a young puppy to mentor? It would be a good idea for him to pass on all that he learned and loves about you to the next generation.
When you paint the kitchen, Bunnings sell a product called Bin undercoat, no sanding required, just paint the undercoat on generously, allow to dry and then paint, easy peasy. Ive used it on a 90's style wall unit and a bedroom suite and its fantastic. I hate sanding, its so time consuming. Good luck!

You look like a pro running the excavator!
Haha I only showed the good bits!
@@samanthaw1419 If the commune had awesome people, like Max and his friends, I would be so very happy.
Congratulations, to All!
Thanks Doreen!
PLEASE READ:
So before you start your build....you better check with whoever does your zoning.
The kitchen looks great!
He really did a great job on that kitchen! I like the booth dinette too.
Thanks Mary!!
So awesome having friends living on the property!!!
Whaaaaat!! I love Steven. You never cease to entertain. Look forward to seeing it put to work.
You and me both 😍
That magnolia is gorgeous!
Thanks Renee, they are lovely!!
Occy is SO floofy after his bath! Great Vid as always, welcome Steven, Kendall, Glenn and Leo 😀
Soooo floofy! and wayy less yellow haha. Everytime it makes me think I should bath him a little more often 😅 Thank you and yes welcome crew! 💛
Love the excavator dancing 🕺🏼 😂✌🏽
Hah, I've been following their 4x4 build. Great to have them on the property. Love their 4x4 build.
Creating a likeminded community on your property is such an awesome step forward. And a new pup for Occy to nose around with, all the better. God bless you all.
Yep, feels good!
Thank you so much for sound advice the Lord does give wisdom and knowledge when we ask. GOD bless you in all things!@@trueloveingod2691
Yay! Kendall and Glenn!
Cat Stevens (I love that!) is definitely going to prove to everyone what a great and necessary addition he is! Especially when leveling out rhe area for the shed also carrying materials for the tiny house! I'm excited for your commune! Nothing like having friends nearby! ❤️🐾
Already earring his keep!
Welcome to the fam Steven!!!
Love the communal living aspect. When your dog has a friend that's so good. Put out such good energy, it brightens my day. Max we need to see your girlfriend lol.
Haha fair enough!!
Love the Deception logo on the arm of the digger.
Good pick up!
@@MaxandOccy I think Scavenger was the name of the excavator Constructicon. Might have been Scapper though.
Love that you're making your own community there. Just wanted to make sure you have checked all council regulations for having tiny homes etc with your state and local council. I'm in New South Wales myself and have been looking into maybe a tiny home just in my yard for one of my daughters and the rules of being related to the person etc living there. So I'm sure you already have looked into it all but just incase this is a mumma nudge. Really looking forward to seeing it all come together
❤ Mel
I’m so happy for all of y’all!
I am so amazed how you transferred this property and especially the inside of that house into such a beauty! It looks absolutely stunning! Congratulations‼️I admire your consistency and your taste for the interior. Love your videos‼️🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️
Thank you, such a lovely thing to say!
Nice addition with Steven and now friends and Leo 🎉
Love that Kendall and Glenn are going to be moving on to your property! Watched a few of their vlogs, it seems like such a natural transition!😊
Thanks Lydia!!
Brilliant news. I love tiny homes.
Can't wait to see Kendall and Glenn's tiny home project on your beautiful property. Occy & Leo will be happy, best buddies 🐾 🐾 ❤ 🐾 🐾
They sure are!!
Eamon will have to come play with your new toy!
The trap has been set 😎
Hahahaha! This excavator is like one giant weed tool ..so satisfying diggin out those stumps, trees & roots! Max & Eamon = tractor digger wars 🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
Don't want to get the cat stuck in the mud..
Love the Landy...beautiful.
The drying of Occy have me a good chuckle...he was just loving it.
Haha he is unique!
I wonder what little Max would have said if he knew he would own Steve when he was a big boy.😅
Looks like your property is the place to be these days. Sounds like lots of fun.
Take care.
One eternity later…that was good! 😂😂
Haha, well it felt like it!
You need to use sand to back fill under and around the pipe before you fill back the earth, protects the pipe👍
Smooth Juice all the way .
Haha classic
Great purchase. So excited for the future of this channel.
Haha. Should have played Teaser and the fire cat !
Pound some PVC in to the ground and fill with concrete to add height to your tent. You can even mount the feet to the concrete with screws so it can’t blow away. Love how everything is coming together!!
Congrats on adopting Stephen🎉 Happy you are realizing more of your dream by adding friends to live on your beautiful home property ❤
I have to say I am looking forward to having more people around!
Looove all the new additions!
So much for your peace and quiet.
haha true!
The most important thing you said in this video. My dad always says '''I only get one back '', LETS say when your in your early 50s life still has a helluva lot to offer but i messed up my back through work & now im disabled & in constant daily pain. Save your back guys it sucks all the joy from life when you freck it up.
Time to dig your pool, skinny dipping freedom
Interesting....
Glad to see you so happy.
WOW! WOW! WOW!
WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!
CAT paid for himself in
THIS ONE DAY ALONE!!!
Haha my thoughts exactly!
Great to see you in good company! 🎉😊
It feels great x
@@MaxandOccy looking happy and better than ever! ♥️to Occy
Oops! Thanks for the info!
So excited for you! I'm guessing you've run all these plans through your local Council?
@@MaxandOccy Usually in the UK its smaller pea gravel just to stop larger rocks from damaging the water pipes. Nice work though!
Very cool! Looks like so much fun, now you are cooking with fire. Those temporary car ports can be raised with chain link fence top rail. I had to do that when I painted my camper.
Great idea! thank you
Building a wonderful community AND a shed! So many awesome updates 🎉😁
What dreams are made of 🙌🏼💛
Cat Stevens is a perfect name for such a great addition!!! And, I’m so happy to hear of Kendall and Glenn joining you!!! You won’t be so alone!!! Congratulations all around. 👏🏻
Just spent the last 2 hours watching old videos wondering when the next would come out! Excited for this one!
Thanks for the support!!!
That excavator looks like so much potential fun!
Oh, it is lol
The main thing I really like about your videos is that your videos are very productive. You really do things and get things done ✅ not just playing around and wasting time to make longer videos. 👌🏻
Thanks for noticing!!
Great watch 🫡
Thank you!!
Good luck!
Wow! Steven is an amazing addition! What fun you'll have using him to upgrade your property! What a surprise that your starting a commune! Looking forward to watch how it progresses! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Andrea!!
That’s a beautiful Land Rover.
Sure is, they put a lot of love into it!
Congratulations with the CAT so needed with all the hard manual labour. Please build a seat for Occy. Also wonderful you are starting a communal set up. So exciting. Can’t wait to see more of your journey.
Great call!! I'm excited too!
So proud of you, Max!! ❤
Love my robot vacuum more than I ever thought I would
Haha me too!! Occy not so much
Your property is truly paradise. Except the huge spiders and such. I can't believe how fast you got that kitchen together. It looks so good!
Such an exciting video! New beginnings are awesome! I betcha the Van wives are thrilled with your purchase. Way to go Max and Occy, so proud of you both. Looking forward to the addition of Kendall and Glenn's channel. Thanks for the FUN!😘
No, thank you!!
OMG Steven is a great addition Max - delighted for you that Kendall and Glenn and Leo are going to become part of the commune....good times ahead!
So excited!!
Love the idea of the commune living setup Max but just make sure you protect yourself legally before inviting other people to build a home on your land. All the best 🍻
I am so so jealous of your new digger..😊😊
