Their song "Yuuve Yuuve Yu" is great too. A higher tempo beat, makes you want to dance. They also did a song for the soundtrack of Star Wars: Fallen Order called "Sugaan Essena" that is a really good one. You can tell why they picked these guys for a scifi game soundtrack, they sound almost otherworldly.

This is when they got NOTICED and went viral. They are totally professional level and have continued to improve in music and their production. They did an OST for one of the biggest Star Wars video games.
They have also covered Metallica's song, Sad But True, but The Hu translated the lyrics to Mongolian. The cover has a sound somewhat like Wolf Totem because they kept their traditional instruments in it as well as singing in their own language. Metallica had only the highest praise for the cover these guys made. It's truly an amazing song and then The Hu made a FANTASTIC Music Video for it that tells a different story than the original MV told.

part of what's especially interesting to me is the ability to switch into it so seamlessly.
since kargyraa (the style he's using here) requires a fairly specific tongue position in the back of your mouth (as far as I understand it anyway - there may be multiple methods. that's how I do it), some sounds like /k/ or /t/ are either impossible or require an immense amount of tongue control. to sing actual lyrics and immediately fall back into throat singing AND hit the right note with both the voice and the overtone is extremely impressive. clearly years and years and years of practice there.

    • @TheVocalyst

The Hu are amazing, their music really hits a strange, almost "primal" button in the soul that feels like it tethers us all together in a powerful, ancient art. Really, I think throat singing can be beautiful or powerful depending on how it's done, and I really love when others have an appreciation for it. It blows my mind when people think it's ugly or if they mock it, I'm so glad you were just so taken by the song you had to go back entirely and hear the beginning again!

I just discovered them on Friday when I was on Tic Tok and this was the first song I ever heard from them. I have been listening to them a lot since I discovered them on Friday. I believe they just started a US Tour or are about start it. I am planning on going to see them live when they are in my city where I reside.
I have a band you should check out that does throat singing and they are called NYTT Land. The song you should check out by them is called U-Gra. I have been listening to them for about a year and a half or so.

I was made aware of The Hu about 2 years ago and I've been following them ever since. I got to see them in concert this past summer. They put on quite a show, and it was awesome. I absolutely love The Hu!

There is no way I can know these bikers, but I totally know these bikers. And the idea that the Mongolian hordes of ages past are now riding across the steppes on their iron horses is great. Love the Hu.

If you can find it, you should check out Genghis Blues. A docu-vlog of legendary singer songwriter Paul Pena, who taught himself to throatsing and took a trip out that way. They named him Earthquake, cause he could shake a room with it.

What a great war chant, right! . Now I am able to comprehend the fearless nature of the mongols battle brain. Their primal chat , stirs my DNA, to go to battle.

E as letras? Tudo no The Hu, para mim, é envolvente. Até a marca. É um chamado a participar. Dá vontade de sair dançando e cantando onde estiver (às vezes me permito essas expressões). Enfim, eu ❤The Hu.
