    Being a senior on a fixed income, I spent way too much on this razor, but after I got it and started shaving with it, I'm glad I did. It's kinda scary how perfect this razor is.

    I now have 3 Rex Envoy's. One for home, one at the vacation home, and one for my travel kit. I have tried a dozen razors and I always come back to this one. The fit and finish and grip are second to none. It has the feel/heft of a Gillette Fatboy which is my second favorite razor. The Envoy stands above the Fatboy because of the knurling on the grip. I recommend getting both the stand and the leather case. You will not be disappointed.

      Not gonna lie that's pretty cool. Ive always wondered if other countries ever bought USA made products. To see a Japan native buying USA products is awesome. Some of the best products I own are made in Japan. Two of my favorites are a Japanese chef knife and a night force rifle scope that was built in Japan.

    Almost two years ago you talked to the future and put the finishing touches on my looking into this one. As you said purchaser reviews as well as professional reviews rave about the Envoy. So glad you started your TH-cam Channel so one day those like me getting back into, or into for the first time, wet shaving could stumble across it. Looking forward to getting my Rex Envoy!! Thanks Matt!!

    I just shaved with my Envoy today using Proraso white pre-shave, soap and aftershave lotion. It takes some getting use to, but now I love it. I never thought wet shaving could be so much fun and that I actually look forward to shaving now. Thanks.

    I am deeply joyed to see that such an immense amount of thought has gone behind making this razor. I frankly did not know that Rex was made by Razor Emporium. I am just a student now so I cannot afford to buy this razor but when I earn money, I would definitely love to try out a Rex Razor.

    Hi Matt I have been using my Envoy coming up to 3 weeks now and cannot speak highly enough of it gives a very comfortable close shave and if this was the only razor for the rest of my life I would be more than happy. Just a word of warning don’t risk turning the box upside down as in the video I tried it and the razor fell out luckily I was sat down and just fell onto my lap no harm done. Keep well and keep safe.

    I had my first full shave with my Envoy today. Very close and very smooth! It reminds me of a surgical instrument. I used a new Gillette Nacet blade and I was very impressed with everything about this razor! So well done to you all! Stay safe Sir!

    Hi Matt,
    Dave Sheppard here from Bristol in England. I received my Rex Envoy this morning from Executive shaving in Scotland. Beautiful razor and I'm looking forward to using it. I've just got to wait for more facial growth as I only have one days at the moment. So far though I'm very impressed! I am interested to see how it compares to my Executive shaving Outlaw.
    Take care Sir and stay safe,
    Dave.

    Just got my envoy today, and had my first shave with it. (Head & face) it did an excellent job-really smooth and efficient. No nicks or cuts. I was surprised at how there was virtually no learning curve at all to this. I have sensitive skin and was a little nervous after reading some reviews that there would be too much blade feel or aggression but I’m happy to say that wasn’t the case. Also I love that the blade tabs are covered! The price for what you get is a great value. Thanks Matt. I look forward to using this one for a long time. It’s a keeper.

    Hi Matt I am fortunate to have both the Ambassador and the Envoy. Both purchases have signified key milestone in my life. I will say that that both are the best machined and engineered razors I have ever used and the serial number makes them extremely precious. They are in a league of their own the perfect size. The quality, weight and feel is the best in the world. Now onto the shave. Coupled with the right blade they work flawlessly. Other razors can be less blade picky which is the only slight improvement that could possibly be made. If you can get it to feel like the 6S then you will have the ultimate and perfect razor. Love the new packaging by the way wish I could get this.

    Whether it's to satiate a need for use or collection it's clearly a choice above others.

    Hi Matt- Great razor review; thank you! The Rex Envoy is definitely a winning razor design. The knurling on the handle is superior to any other razor on the market; tight tolerances enable the three piece design to act like a solid unit. I hope the weekend is off to a great start! Lovely spotlight on the Envoy, thank you for sharing your vision with us. By the way, if you make another adjustable, please make the mild setting to be more mild than the Rex Ambassador on a 1. I love my Rex Ambassador, but my son feels that it is too aggressive even on the mildest setting (like how you felt with the Janus razor).

    Thank you for the excellent demonstration, and for your reply ("Personna lab blues") to my earlier query. Rex also recommend the lab blues, as they (so they advise) do not measure blade exposure but go by the feel which, in the Envoy, they say is "slightly positive", contrasting with the Konsul's "blade neutral" (which presumably they have measured). The Personna lab blues (which offer "a fantastic pairing", Rex's verdict) are not readily available on outlets where I am. So, my query is if you can, with your renown expertise on shaving, advise on what is special about the lab blues so that I can approximate a choice from other makes? Is it that Personna are narrower - as I am presuming, given Rex's explanation (for not giving figures of blade exposure) is that measuring Feather blades versus Markur gives "slightly different figures". It would also have been beneficial for Rex to have included (as almost all other razor makers do) a sample of five blades with their razors. Thank you.

      @jeeperspeepers8323 I can attest, they are pretty nice boxes. Sturdy enough to use for travel, if one wanted, and they have a felt like cutout to hold one's razor securely. You may have to see one to understand... but personally I'm considering ordering a second, to store or travel with one of my other razors. I just bought an Envoy yesterday, and one of the things I like about it, is how well made the box is, is kind of sounds like the sound-box for an instrument.

    Love the feel of my Envoy in my hand. Top quality handle grip and flawless finish. My only knock on it is the positive blade exposure with just slightly too much blade feel for me when I use it on m6 neck. It works well to knock down 2 days of growth. If the blade exposure was less noticeable on my neck it would be my daily driver.

    This is very tempting. I just took delivery of a vintage British made Gillette Aristocrat Jr. that I need to spend some time with before considering anything else though. The Rex case is gorgeous, but why use a tongue and loop closure instead of neodymium magnets? Also, a cutout in the case to accommodate a full tuck of Feather blades, the plastic one with the slot for spent blades, would be really sweet. The stand is utterly brilliant!

    • @RazorEmporium
      @RazorEmporium  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm all about simplicity and sourcing things in America. Try finding american made magnetic clasps - they all come from china and india. And the case size would have to increase significantly to accommodate a full plastic pack of blades. Really this is a travel case and most times you don't need more than 2-3 blades for your typical vacation or business trip. Thanks, Matt

    • @ivermec-tin666
      @ivermec-tin666 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RazorEmporium Thank you. I understand the considerations around making the case larger. That makes sense to me.
      There really is no such thing as a neodymium clasp that you can source off the shelf anywhere. A closure can be comprised of either two magnets, one on each surface to be closed; or a magnet on one surface and a ferrous metal on the other. Your case already incorporates a metalic buckle which is custom fabricated to accommodate a leather strap. The alternative I am suggesting is a neodymium magnet or several countersunk into the walnut block to which the custom metalic buckle (now a ferrous plate) would be attracted. This would eliminate the need for a strap. It should be less costly to manufacture, simpler to operate, a cleaner design, and even more elegant than the current solution.
      I do not know if such magnets are manufactured domestically. Perhaps they are, although the Chinese tend to dominate all rare metal manufacture. Neodymium magnets were developed in 1984 by General Motors in partnership with a Japanese firm. I appreciate your commitment to domestic sourcing of materials and craftsmanship. This means a lot to me.

    I loved the idea of this razor. The construction and design are second to none. However, when shaving, I felt that the stainless steel created too much friction and did not glide as smooth across my skin. My vote would be for a polished chrome version.

    • @RazorEmporium

      did you try increasing the angle a bit? anytime I hear this I recommend increasing angle (i.e. riding cap more) and most times the person says it was a big improvement. Chrome is one of the most troublesome finishes for a razor long terms because it cracks and shatters over time.

    Hi Matt, I have both the Ambassador and the Envoy, and I absolutely love them, I bought my Envoy from a friend 5 days ago to be honest.
    I love the way it shaves, I noticed in the video what sometimes happen with my envoy, it gets stuck by threading, I noticed also some stripping on a couple of places on the cap male threading, it is not dramatic, but maybe it could be better, my question is: can I buy a new cap if it gets worse, and maybe a new empty packaging? I absolutely stand for what you doing, as I have a similar story like u getting to safety razors and wet shaving. Greetings from Germany.

    No dials no springs, maintenance-free apart from a wipe down and a great nick-free shave all the time every time.

    So, I’m sold on buying from Rex Supply but idk what Razor I should buy as my first DE Saftey Razor 🪒, I have sensitive skin but fairly thick hair except I don’t have much hair to begin with it’s mostly just mustache and hair on my chin exactly how you have it I’m this video just not as full… so what Rex Razor do you recommend?

    • @RazorEmporium
      @RazorEmporium  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps an open comb razor but I think it will be a different head entirely and hence will have a different name :) Thanks,

    Question for y'all, what's the preferred blade you guys are using in the Envoy? My first shave was with a Feather, which cut me up... tried again with a ASTRO green, which was better, but I'm curious what others experience has found.

      I feel that if people want the high or low they can get the ambassador. Gillette didn't continue the heavy / light after fatboy came out. I may revist the idea but that is my thoughts on it now. Thx :)

    Looks simply fantastic. Congrats. Your review relays quality from beginning to end and really portrays the product as most desirable. If you come to consider offering the option of a longer handle and perhaps even a polished finish for the cap, I could be more than tempted to buy one! In any case its already artfully beautiful. Well done indeed.
