Hopefully you finished the video and aren't referring to her. You made me think she disliked this but she didn't and even dug deeper into the meaning of the song at the end, which was cool.
@@nikkireviews He was writing songs about his exes before Taylor Swift ;) They always mocked themselves and never took the songs seriously. Although World Coming Down did reflect a lot of tragedies in Peter's life
Pete was a big guy, 2,03 meters (6 feet 8 inches) tall. He's the only bass player I've seen to play upright bass with a shoulder strap and not look too small behind it. =) Great band, luckily got to see them live before his early demise.
R.I.P. Peter Black No. 1 is the darkest shade of hair dye. Yes, they often have some tongue and cheek sense of humor. Yes, that is a full sized stand up bass, gives you an idea just how big he was. Yes, it's a mix of the Addams Family theme. For the next Typo O song I recommend Love You To Death. The video is cool but is shortened significantly from the full song. Your call there.
Can I just be honest about something Wolf Moon is not about a werewolf it’s actually a song about eating a girl out while she is on her period which sounds weird and is probably the only song to exist about eating a girl out on her period
black no 1 is the hair dye... the blackest colour... so it's making fun of all the gothic people dying their hair black.. but oddly, it became an anthem for them ;D .. listen the lyrics sayind "you can't go out cause your roots are showing" , that's about when you dye you hair black and when it grows you can see the lighter colour on the roots.
Type O Negative was an amazing and unique band, with an incredible frontman, a legend in all its right on and off the stage. R.I.P. Peter Steele, forever missed. Black N1 is a hair dye tone used by many goth girls.
4:40 well it is, most of their lyrics are satire and dark humor about the metal scene in the period (late 90's and early 00's) mostly. yeah, they wouldn't let them sing these nowadays but they were having fun at the time and nobody was hurt by the lyrics.
Im from the same area as type o negative. I grew up in Brooklyn during nyc's strongest goth period club wise. I use to go to the pyramid, and limelight! Love that they were mentioned. We had a ton of goth clubs during that period. The Bank, batcave, mother, the pyramid, and limelight which held goth events like sMACK! 😊 Brought back some good memories just hearing those 2 club names. Great reaction btw.
Yes, it was a nod to 'Addams Family'... Peter Steele (vocals/ bass) also mentioned 'Lily Munster' from 'The Munsters' in the song... and Black No. 1 is a HairDye and makeup color 😂The song is actually 11+ minutes long and had to be edited... The Type O Negative album 'Bloody Kisses' in 1993 had a 2nd single 'Christian Woman' also had to be edited from 8+ minutes long. The band's moody cover of Seals & Croft's 'Summer breeze'... made the soundtrack of the slasher movie "I know what you did last summer". Ironically, the next Type O Negative album in 1996 was titled 'October Rust'... it had a cover of Neil Young's 'Cinnamon girl'... as well as the singles - "My girlfriend's girlfriend"... and 'Love you to death'. Peter Steele was quite a character... sadly, he passed away in 2010.
Peter Steele (the main singer) Throws out a giant scream completly different range from what you usually hear him from in the full version of the song (much higher than what you'd expect) you should listen to it on your own if you are not gonna react to it
Definitely very fitting for the season. Type O is right-on for October and All Hallows’ Eve. As others mentioned, black no. 1 was a kind of hair dye favored by Goth girls. So Type O was poking some fun yet also embracing it at the same time. Such was their way. 🎃🍁 Happy Halloween 🍁🎃
Yep, Addams Family, as well as The Munsters. This video uses the 4 1/2 minute radio edit, the full song is over 11 minutes. RIP Peter Steele. More Rocktober, suggest "Back From the Dead" by Halestorm.
"Loving you, was like loving the dead", i know that, you can do everything and she's lying there like dead, not any reaction, no faster breathing, no muscle moving, nothing... 🤣🤣
You need to hear the unedited version you are missing ALOT of the song. This is the radio edit or "OFFICIAL" video.Need to find the longer version to get the full experience.
Halloween can be looked at as strange and freaky and that's a good description of that one 😂🤣.Yes as soon as you mentioned The Addams Family it defiantly brought back that part of the song from the show.
Outstanding song. It's quite dark and has an eerie feel. :) It's perfect for this month. I hope you can check out Disturbed's song "The Animal." The video is actually pretty good for October.
Nope... uh WolfMoon is uh... NOT about wolves... ahem... It's... uhh... how do I say this politely?... Also Steele says "loving you was like f*@king the dead" on the second iteration of that chorus. You can read his lips. Peter was 6'8" tall. Yes that is a full size upright bass he's got slung around his shoulders. RIP Peter.
Song is amazing and was my gateway into being goth also is why i am the way I am is not be like that girl specifically be friendly, open, and happy. That girl sounds like a drag to be with so I went I know a lot about the culture and the music but know about other thigs s well and music outside of the culture. I find more goths try to be that then not be that is Peter Steele's point he respected her for her knowledge and devotion, but she alienated herself, entirely from society as well.
I'm late to the party, and welcome to the ToN party. Yes, just look at the size of Peter's hands compared to the face of the female playing his 'ex. The man was a true giant at 6. 8" and had a range of A2, which is nearly one of the lowest. A fantastic voice, unique and a great loss to music. ToN is an underrated band. For the 'k's,' you speak of, he's actually letting the voice fall into the back of his throat to produce that 'snap' noise. Not easy to do. First time seeing you. Nice reaction. Did you include Rammstein's "Du Riechst So Gut?" Total Halloween song and video.
Lol this song has always been unbearably cringy for me, back when it released & still today. I know this song (and a good portion of Type O's material) is satire/joking around. Black No. 1 is referring to the hair dye colour, and the chorus "yeah you wanna go out but your roots are showing... dye em black" 😂 RIP to Peter Steele, but gd Type O has always been 🤮 for me (except I do dig their album "Life Is Killing Me"). For a modern Goth Rock band that kicks ass, highly recommend Cemetary Skyline (a supergroup featuring members from 5 different bands). Their debut album comes out Oct 11th, but they already released 5 songs ahead of time. Their singer Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect, Grand Cadaver) is one of the best metal vocalists period.
Instant thumbs down to anyone who dislikes Peter or Type O. Especially around their season, October(hence October Rust). Stay Negative Casket Crew! 💚

Haha I hope so too! It gave me the creeps but that was the whole point of Rocktober! 👻😜
The song is about one of Pete's ex girlfriends. A goth chick that dyed her hair black, color number 1. Yes, Peter was tongue in cheek.
Ohh I see. That makes sense!

Pretty sure his shoulder strap was also always a real chain.
Dude was a beast.
Black hair dye No. 1. What all the goth girls use to get the super black hair for better contrast with the milk white neck 🙂
Ohh okay! That makes sense! 😂
Specifically clariol brand. It was the go to black hair dye for goth girls in the early days of goth culture
@@gabrielstratton1775 The numbering scheme is pretty brand independent. In Europe it was mainly L'Oréal and their no.1 is also black.

Who then turns into a werewolf
I'm pretty sure "earning your red wings" has been a subject in other songs before, though I can't rhink of any just now.
Second hidden background theme is indeed from Tha Addams Family (piano and snaps), the first hidden theme in the beggining is from The Munsters.
He actually said "LOVIN YOU WAS LIKE "F#CKIN" THE DEAD" you got the censored version
that's not cool. she might be underage. she just called a contrabass "a big bass". easy pls.
@@sickturret3587 Wahhhh
@@CoreyWickramasekera wahhh? what are you a pedalfile or something?
He certainly did
He says that once out of many repetitions of the line. Just one of the many things missing in the radio edit.

This is the shortened edited version. You missed out on a lot. That’s a cello he’s playing as a guitar
the album version is better - longer with a great transition
Love You to Death is also a must, and has a music video for it.
I never noticed the Addams family reference and I hate myself for it, I’m serious.
Well now ya know! 😁
They also do a Munsters theme song reference in the beginning.
Munsters, not Adams family. Adams family jingle is different.
@MW-cx3sb they do both.Munsters at the beginning of the song with that keyboard riff, then addams family in the middle.
