The advantage of worn pins and bushes is the FOC bucket self-levelling feature😊

I thought of you today, Mucker, as I tackled a job where I really should have had a hollow ram! I got by today with other improvised things, as I have always done, but I think a hollow ram needs to be added to the toolkit!
Nice to see the king-post on the little Kubota had bushes in the parts where the pin doesn’t move, so it can all be returned to new tolerances. Good job well done 👍

Yep, oil & grease are definitely cheaper than steel. New pins and bushings are a lot cheaper than re-welding and line boring too.

@@LordMuck We still occasionally see customers with some of the original greats - mid 1980's mini diggers like the Kubota KH36 or the Pel-Job Eb12 - that are running along nicely.

A thumb for the bucket! 😎 Maybe too much for a small machine, but I think it could come in handy. Excellent work, Kurt and Kim! Definitely right, a tube of grease is way cheaper than having an entire arm replaced, or worse, scrapping your equipment.

I would be lost without my hollow ram mate I even have a low profile one for tight spaces. I used to work on Holmer self propelled sugarbeet harvesters and slurry spreaders and the king pins would need pulling at 700bar and a lot of heat from the gas axe. Then give em a rattle on the side with an air hammer and boom! out she comes. I might have to oder a set of those centering washers though.

Awesome. It's nice when you get it in time, before the bush is completely knackered and the tube, which the bush is pushed into, gets knackered, too, requiring welding up and line boring.

After watching the likes of LetsDig18 and a few other American excavator/ groundwork channels, the most useful/ versatile thing I’ve put on my Takeuchi TB125 was a thumb. The extra work it can do with it far outweighs the cost. 👍

I'de put a tilt blade on a small digger with a replicable cutting edge.
When i bought my second hand JD 6210 the front axle pivot bush hadn't been greased since Adam was a boy. Bush gone and a lot of steel missing from the axle housing. A mate and I put new trunions and bushes in with quick metal behind the bushes and its worked really well. Done another 1200 hours but and i mean but i grease that thing every 10 hours.
Cheers Mucker (i really want to come over and visit the Matadors)

I once had a work scheduled PM to replace pins and bushes on a giant frontend loader that was used 24-7 in a sand pit. When i received the work order, i just knew that it was going to be stuck froze up and wore out pins. To my amazement, hardly any ware and easy work. This machine had an automated lube system and used heavy gear oil. The system ran off of the pneumatic system. This system was by Lincoln, i know there are several other manufacturers. If the pins and bushes have a lube port of any sort, an automated system can be installed. For a small machine like you are working on, it may be cost prohibitive. If the machine is used to clear brush or demolition work, it may be difficult to route hoses to the ports and keep the system intact. I have sense seen these systems used in many applications. I can certanly attest to their effectiveness.

For the design of the new k008, maybe go for the joysticks on the side of the seat for more operating comfort, might be difficult though seeing the width of the machine.

Most machines, your little bagger included would benefit from central grease location to the spots that can be tubed. My old Hanix rides rough - so an air suspension seat would help the operator.

  • @Robinlandrover

My improvement for the Mini digger would be the deceased that the seat would go further back and the connection and the controls could be adjusted for for more operating comfort.
Because I'm a rather tall Feller and I've had and I've had struggles operating operating the machine for longer periods Comfortably.

As a loyal member of #MuckerArmyUSA, I have been steadily indoctrinating friends and co-workers to use 'bush' instead of bushing as it commonly referred to on this side of the pond. Some look at me incredulously, while most actually just accept it. I go on to explain they've been saying it wrong from the beginning. Really enjoying the progress on that little Kubota, as well as this weeks tire/tyre vidya

My cousin is a fabricator so ever few years have him fix a part of it so now from the bucket pins to the bushings into the frame have been replaced. Not sure why but some bushings are still bronze and others are now nylon.

I also have a 2016 K008-3. It has ~1700 hrs but my machine doesn't look as clean as yours but surprisingly there is minimal play my king post and I don't believe it has been given any new bushes.
