I LOVE seeing couples work in the shop together! Getting my partner in the shop with me to do anything other than pumping the pedal to bleed brakes.. which he thinks is fun (go figure), he hates getting his hands dirty and god forbid he does anything remotely close to manual labor lol. You're very lucky to have each other, Thank You for the fun content!!
Good job Kim, great to see Kurt gladly playing second fiddle, tidy little machine that should earn it's keep with ease. My hand was hurting watching you, them hammers f ing hurt.
Nice work Kim ! That’s one of those jobs that take a bit of thought and effort but make such a difference to the machine ! Thorough testing and evaluation session too !
That was a nice job well done on your part and I am amazed at how composed you were when you hit your hand with the hammer. I expected a long bleeeeep on the sound.
Makes the job so much easier if done before the wear has worn out the bushes and damaged castings🙄😡 Dig bits have been on the go for a good while now we always bought our spares from them💪 great effort Kim good to see it back in working order 👌
Tell me about it. The tipping link was just to the point of there being nothing left on the bushes towards the edge. That obviously made it very difficult to get them out. Everything just kept getting wedged in the bush 😭
Bushes in the freezer is a great trick we've often recommended to customers. In the factory, when the excavators are assembled, certainly for larger stuff (10 tonnes upwards) they will have liquid nitrogen to chill and shrink them for fitting. The hollow ram is a very handy tool, for anyone running machines, something like that it a very sensible addition, but customers have had good results with home-made tooling using threaded bar and some old washers and bushes.
Hi guys, The hollow rams are also very affordable now to be fair. The bearing removal kit I bought has threaded bar with thrust bearing to remove pins. It does work well for just a couple bushes.
Nice job Kim, and a guest appearance from someone lol. I know you also enjoy 2 wheels. I know these are small, got to start some ware. I have a Kawasaki BN125 and a Honda CA125 Rebel to work on. Need better weather, I don't have a shed or garage to work in.
tip top lots of info and the hollow ram well done where did you get the hollow ram and the power pack { and the stepped press ] think you call it good work life is for living sore hands
Good work Lady Muck, I still do not understand why UK people call the 'bushes' and here in the US we call them 'bushings'. I had to make a new king pin for my micro excavator.
@@CalamityKim1I found one video where the small gear and the drive key was worn bad (simple fix), and another where a double spline shaft inside the hyd motor was seriously worn (expensive fix). I'm currently rebushing the bucket end of the beam and installing an OX thumb. I had one broken pin and the quick attach bracket was bent. ( Not cheap). This was a sight unseen auction purchase. Some things need immediate attention others must wait.
I am a total new bee. Can you tell me where you got this bottle jack and screw set up as a set?? It seems that you pulled and installed these bushings so effortlessly If i could i would take home too, lol. How long and how thick is the bolt that you are using to pull/push thru the hallow cylinder? I have seen videos people welding bushings to angle iron and also grinding them down then knocking them out. Let me know please as i am totally new, I love the way you worked
Hello. I did do a short video on it at Christmas time. The ram came from zoro, the puller set was from eBay. I think the thread size is m20 or something. I got the largest thing that would fit through the bushes in the kit. Many different methods to be honest. I just do it this way mostly.
Thanks for your reply, I did find and watch your video from around Christmas time I did see the bush bearing kit, but it seems that the BOLT you were using is much much longer than it shows in the red suitcase bearing kit, ( just purchased vevor 20 ton 4 inch lift (100mm) stroke ram jack) and want to buy 180-cp hand pump so I am hoping this is going to work for me, if you have suggestion for the pull push bolt I would greatly appreciate it, trying to keep cost to minimum Ram Jack $66 hand pump 45, kitc will cost close to $100. It was getting to the point where the spider web wasn't keeping it very secure anymore. 🕸 And so, repairs were needed. 😄 Good job, Kim.....and Kurt! 👌👍And happy new year!! 🎊🎉
Kim the limit of my mechanical advice for your very competent work, where there is something that needs holding when you need to hit it with a hammer, let His nibbs hold it for you...As you have the build of a greyhound & he is more of a cuddle collie i reckon you should get out the door first... Grease guns, funny ole thing about them back in my days on the farm, always empty when i picked them up, that was in the days of loading them from a grease bucket... 🤪
I’ll pitch that idea to him 🤣 I’m sure he will be thrilled. If I end up with more equipment I’ll be doing just that with a 12.5kg drum, I’m going to start doing it at work with a spare drum we have.
