What actually happens during a Raging Demon [Shun Goku Satsu]

- The Super Street Fighter II Turbo one is fascinating (I've labelled it 'X' and not 'Turbo' in the video because that's always my shorthand, but the game shown is the US version) however, I also found the Shadow Charlie and Shadow Chun ones interesting. The Charlie clip because of the weird fixed screen effect but Chun Li actually goes into her jumping LK attack animation, on the ground, that is never seen by the player.
In a lot of the other games that I tested, the sprites literally just disappear, so there's nothing to see during the white screen. You can see a bit of this during the puzzle fighter demon at the very end but the rest I didn't include because nothing happens.

Finally, the truth: it's the white screen who executes the Raging Demon, Akuma is just a paid actor.
Nope. Akuma does the Raging Demon himself, destroying his foes from the inside.
And the opponents are also paid actors. They are frozen until the white screen is gone.

So Akuma is already posing when he does Raging Demon
That's how fast he is, literally imperceptible. In fact, he inst even hitting you, that's just the airwaves displacing so fast the air causes bone breaking damage

@@MatF1 It’s not really a lore thing for them not being in there. For the original version of SF3, the roster was filled with completely new characters, the only returning characters were Ryu and Ken. In later versions like SF3 2nd impact and SF3 Third Strike they added more characters, one of them was a returning Character who was Chun-Li. Akuma was also added later on as well.
@@MatF1 They just didn't show up to fight in SF3. Alpha takes place before SF2, so why weren't Gen, Guy, Cody, Sodom, Dan, etc in SF2? SF4 also takes place directly before SF5, so where's Rufus, C. Viper, El Fuerte, etc? They just didn't show up (aka developers didn't wanna add them)
This just cements in my mind that Guy has the dopest Demon

I liked, and still believe in the Alpha 3 explanation where Akuma describes the Raging Demon as you getting hit by your sins. Edgy but still a cool and believable explanation coming from a literal demon

I've played these games when they were current in arcades like crazy, even in tournament play and never knew Shadow and Shadow Lady had raging demons.

Wow, thanks for posting this, Desk. Not only I was surprised to see that rare sprite of Bison/Vega, I was always very curious to see what the background of the Tree level looked like with the foreground layer removed in XMvsSF.
I remember playing on the original playstation. Probably MvC. I managed to pause the game during the raging demon and seeing these flying orbs fly across the screen. Orbs are similar in looking to what you see inside of Street Fighter EX2's Kairi's hyper beam attack.
That hatless Bison sprite though...

I have a theory that except Guy's secret special, every lights out(it's how we call shun goku Satsu here on brazil) is just a similar version, martially speaking of that one mantis special that Gen have, you touch the opponent once and whatever technique is done, must feel like one thousand strikes(Assassin Fist move reference)

According to the Manga Ryu Final vol 2 Earth, Ryu describes the raging demon as akuma is doing it to him. Each strike unleashes a hadoken into his body causing an internal explosion. That would suck😂

I always thought that Gouki generates some kind of time deceleration field and he punches and kicks the living daylights out of his opponent or he grabs his opponent, holds them in place and then he produces multiple dopplegangers of himself that strike the opponent

This is similar to Seth in SFIV, just no white screen. That kick move he does
It looks even more frightening without the flash. At least with the flash you can imagine the lightning speed movements, without it the characters moves so fast while posing after each hit. Terrifying.
Plot twist, Capcom just too lazy when create super for Akuma. They just put white screen and call it a day.

All this time I thought it would be something coming from the HUB site
I remember a running joke that we had back in the early days of Street Fighter Zero that Gouki actually "rapes" his opponents behind the white flash because there was this one time I landed an SGS on Rose while she had Soul Illusion activated - her shadows actually just laid down on the ground as soon as the screen turned white and the hits started flashing. Too bad they fixed it in Zero 2 LOL

Um, because they don't actually animate the violence in the unmodified version? So yeah, the white flash perfectly simulates the stun of being hit. I like it better than the appearance of purple fireworks going off for no reason.
Guy's has always been the BEST version.
Then again Guy is just complete badassery in every sense of the word.
