as an M235I owner and driver of multiple cars, I think the M235i just an easier car to push to the limit on local roads. Burns Mustang 5.0s off the line, and handles better than most cars. Lower maintenance, 90% of the power of the M2. Its a win
Just got enough cash to buy a fresh m235i out right! Then getting it stage1/2 and just enjoy it! Is it easy to upgrade the screen to a more modern one with apple carplay etc?
@@ariel759 I’ve done over 10k miles in mine and only thing I’ve had to do it replace the steering rack (was an issue from when I bought the car) other than that it’s been good as gold
I've had my 2015 m235i since 2018. Absolutely no plans on changing it for anything else. Manual transmission, leather interior, RWD, it's a gem in my eyes.
235i owner - 47k miles. As a daily it does it all. As the review alludes to changing driving modes makes a difference to the car. Fuel economy, I average 30mpg. Spirited driving is closer to 20mpg and I’ve generally averaged 36mpg on long motorway runs. Not much has went wrong for me. I had a coil pack go which was a cheap fix and the overflow hose snap, another easy fix. Rear tyres I’ve always went for softer compounds (GoodYear Super sports) and average about 15k for the rears. The fronts I go with a harder compound like GoodYear Asymmetric 3 and get almost double the mileage. I keep a close watch on tyre pressures and regularly adjust. Never had an issue in the snow or extreme wet. Generally in the wet comfort mode still allows for a decent amount of acceleration to overtake the usual people doing 40mph in a national because it’s wet. The car is a pleasure to drive in sports or sports + and manual paddles on twisty roads. If you don’t put into manual you’ll drop gears when you’re adding throttle which is undesirable mid bend. If you have sufficient space, put the car in sports +, knock it into manual and at ~4K revs you can do some impressive power slides. Without a LSD drifts are a bit sketchy so stick to power slides. The 8 speed auto gear box is extremely impressive. It’s buttery smooth. It’s no duel clutch, but it’s not far off. The sound of the car is a massive reason the car is so fun. The induction noise even stock is awesome and the burbles are awesome. Put the car in eco and it closes the exhaust flaps and you won’t annoy anyone going through a village. I’ve driven a stage 2 tuned 435d and although it was slightly faster without the roaring sound the 235i makes it was dull. There’s just something about a RWD car accelerating hard compared to a FWD or a 4WD system
Thank you for this! I was looking at a 2015 435i, but this car caught my interest a lot as well. I felt the energy reading your comment, and i think im leaning more towards the m235!
I think these are absolute bargains. I recently had the opportunity, and was fortunate to be in the position, that I could buy a mint, 1 owner, low mileage, M2. I previously owned a tuned M140i, which has the amazing B58 engine and ZF8. I don't think the N55 is quite as good, but still a great engine compared to it's rivals. The OG M2 is a wonderful car, the steering is so much better than even the M140i, the suspension is so sorted and settles instantly over bumps, and of course the wider track and rubber makes it corner on another level. One small point, you said sport+ takes the traction control off, which is not correct. It makes it less obtrusive, so it's sort of half on still and will save you, but allows the car to be a bit more playful. Only in traction off mode by holding down the traction button for a few seconds does it turn everything off (well not EVERYTHING because even in traction off mode there is still abs and some other sort of help).
I'm a younger driver and basically aiming for this to be my second car, saved up almost enough through various jobs around uni and just waiting for insurance to be realistic lol, this review sold me thank you bro
I I thought I recognised that car. You’re just around the corner from me and I see your 235 all the time. It’s what gave me the idea for buying one myself. Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll have one sorted
How would I know if the car has had an LSD installed ? Thinking of buying one and the guy is saying he installed an m performance LSD but idk how to ask for proof ?
I’ve had my 225d for about 4 years. In metallic grey and also with red interior. Again, i wasn’t sure about the red leather (in my head thinking it’s too boy racer - I’m over 50) . I’m getting on average 46mpg and mid 50’s mpg on a run. While not as quick or nice sounding as yours, it still gives a good punch 0-60 in 6.3 seconds apparently. Fits 4 adults easily but is a bit crashy over potholes, even on comfort mode.
@@Darcysdrive Yeah, I actually just checked your used car market in the UK and it's incredibly cheap. A good price here in germany for a 75k Miles 235i is still 21k pounds.
Same in Spain, second hand cars much dearer than the U.K. where I lived for over 60 years, many people here keep their cars a long time, hence not many second hand cars available.
@@Darcysdrive Never had an issue with mine :-) 123,000 miles on the clock. Just treat them right and don't scream them from cold. I've owned a lot of cars and faster ones but the E90 M3 manual is my favourite by far.

Not going to get an M235 for under 15k unless it’s a really bad damaged one!

is this the 2018 model?
No a 2014 model 👍🏼
Under 15k...
NOT the cheapest M235i here in the Netherlands being 30 GRAND...

Under 15k for a high mileage, low spec. You’re looking at 16-18 with low miles and high spec.
What would be considered a high spec?
@ Harmon kardon, pro nav, reverse camera, heated seats, Sun roof etc

More like 30k with low miles
