M235 owner from New Zealand. Absolutely in love with the car. Coming from an Infinity G35 (skyline 350gt here) and Audi A5, M235I is night and day. The agility, the engine, the way power builds and the lightness. My best car ever. 🙂 I watch all ur videos for mod ideas💡
I was leasing a Q40 (2014 G37x renamed) before I read the Road and Track article comparing the 228i, M235i, M2, and 1M Coupe, and absolultey fell in love with the 2 series. Proud owner of a 228i xDrive M Sport. No manual does suck, but as a daily it is the best I could ask for while also being a drivers car. Very happy to hear your experience!
My Lil Bertha (M235i) screams, everytime I drive and get on it and hear the warm up pops, I’m a little kid again. Such an amazing car. My little Batmobile. Best Bmw maintenance wise I’ve ever had. If your on the fence. Pull the trigger. Great daily driver
Thank you for all this great content! I just bought my M235I a month ago and I've found many of your quality videos very useful!! PS: Bootmod3 Stage 1 completely changed the way this car drives.
This sounds like a great entry level bmw that has good performance. I’ve never owned a BMW but have always loved the styling of them. My first car was a Saturn and my 2nd car was a 2014 GT mustang. I currently drive a MK7.5 GTI and that car has totally changed my opinion on German cars in terms of maintenance. It’s an excellent vehicle and the fit and finish blows the door off my previous vehicles I’ve owned . With that being said, BMW does looks like the next step in my car ownership journey but I do understand maintenance is key and their is a premium added to those costs.
There were a number of reasons I bought my M235i, you hit on all of them. For me, the "drivability" of the car really won me over. The way it handles, the amount of power and build quality were all sellers for me. I would also agree that this car is simply a great value over-all. It's really as great car and super fun to drive.
@@FritzRamos Well Fritz, I owe much of it you and your great videos, I've learned a ton of things from your channel. I try to pay it back by recommending your videos on the Facebook BMW M235i / M240i Owners Club group 😎
I think you deserve more views & likes - excellent presentation and editing skill. Your videos are a joy to watch. I have a tuned 228i Msport 6spd MT in the same color. Although I miss the power and steering of my old e90 335i, the f22 is a great comfortable daily that still makes me smile every time I drive.

Man I did love my M235i with a 6spd manual Had it for 3 years with all the bolt ons and the car was a little monster super reliable never had any issues with it and it was tuned on MHD for over 20K miles grey little car
Picking up an M4 manual this week. Getting a crazy deal on the car but I can't help but think it looks like a Mustang. As someone who's largest car was a GS300 (my version of adulting) it seems so big. Fantastic cars for sure but it kind of goes against my ideas about sports cars like my RX7 and MR2s. Having done some work on some 235i and 240i race cars I grew to really like them. I still don't really consider them to be small or light cars but at least it's in the right direction. For some reason I have this e89 itch after seeing a GT3. With the used car market still kind of having inflated prices everywhere the M4 seems to be as close as I can get for now, but with either a decent flip I should be able to get into one of the smaller cars. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of bespoke engines and prefer more generic options just from a financial liability standpoint. For me the toss-up would really be between a non M2 2-series and the e89. It's a great machine that actually kind of reminds me of the E46 dimensionally. Great channel and great content.
I wish I didn't sell my 2015 M235i, biggest mistake I've ever made! Looking to get into the M240i though. At 5'" I need a pillow to sit on when I sit in the Supra, M240 is the better compromise for me, same engine and more comfortable to drive as a daily.

Is the BMW M235i a reliable car? Having watched your other videos on the cars issues i now worry about buying one? Would i be best getting a M240i or is the M235i still good to get?
Hi Fritz, considering all the time and money you spend for the car, would you recommend to buy an M2C instead ? I know the m353i is better for your channel but otherwise ?
Hi John, I guess the mod list is starting to add up lol, but I bought my car salvaged for 20k with just under 30k miles. The mods I added it up a while ago and it came out to about 15k, but I off set about 5k from selling my used parts so I'm all in at about 30k. Finding any M2 at that price with similar mods & miles would be hard to find. Even if I bought the car with a clean title it might still be hard to close that price gap because the M2C has the S55, but if the numbers are close of course get the M2C. With that said if you do find an M2C that fits that criteria and price point, take it! I will be so happy for you. Hope that helped
Would you do lowering springs or coil overs? And never thought about the seats, great idea why the m4 seats specifically just curious? Great video definitely solidified my thoughts on getting one of these
I went with the KW DDC Coilovers. The M4 seats are more supportive, but the sedan and coupe seats differ by the rear access latch and the seat belt attachment point
the m2 comp was never intended to be released. mid 2018 the EU forced auto makers to add the gas particle filter into their cars and it wasn't worth for BMW to develop a new exhaust system just for the N55 in the M2, since all the other cars were running B58's already. that's why they instead went with the S55 which already had the exhaust for the new exhaust regulations ready to go from the M3/M4. of course just changing the engine would be too little so they added some extras here and there, but the weight distribution is worse on the m2 comp because of the way heavier engine. it was never meant to be in there in the first place.
currently drive wrx sti. really like m235i's and sporty bmws in general but its hard to find them that is good condition in manual and i can only drive manuals
In Germany I just bought for 26k a 220d xdrive M sport from 2018, 88k km. If you only can afford 26k then consider the running cost of the 235i, it drinks a lot and has a very high insurance, if it is your daily it will eat you alive. Look for a 228i, it will be a better deal, or even a 20i. Don't forget about the extras, these will have the biggest impact on your daily driving.

does the m235 n55 have forged internals and dual oil pump like the m2 n55?
M235i has a forged crank but sadly no second oilpump. But you can upgrade to the s55 oil system. I've done this to mine, its worth it!

Biggest issue is no HUD was available, otherwise it's a solid production run.
Where did you buy your hood?
Should I buy a 2015 62k miles for 26k? And is it reliable as daily driver?
A 2 series? Too much. I just got a 2015 2 series fully loaded with 38k miles for 20k with taxes/ delivery fee from a dealer 2 weeks ago.
