  • I recently got to take out a 2019 Ducati Multistrada from Freeman Motorcycles to make a first ride review, so that's exactly what I did :) This is a bike I've been eyeing up in the showroom for weeks and I'm over the moon I got to ride it before it was sold, definitely a bike that lived up to it's billing. It talks the talk with it's bold looks but definitely also walks the walk!

    If you want this lovely red macheen you can call Freemans or the ad for the bike is here: www.donedeal.ie/motorbikes-for-sale/2017-ducati-multistrada-950/30258317
    Honestly as a tall person this is one of the comfiest bikes I've ever sat my copious behind on. And it still performed very nicely, if you have any questions on the bike leave them in the comments below!

    Good Lord, that’s a nice looking bike.
    I had to do the lip thing with the V-Strom for exactly that reason. Turbulent air round my noggin got old after a while.
    I kinda want one of these but I’d be terrified of taking anything Italian into the more remote parts of Australia. I shudder to think what parts availability and price is!
    That’s a good dollop of power. Would go like a stabbed rat, no doubt.
    It looks comfy for a tall boi alright. Lowering the footpegs a bit would probably sort the crank case issue too.
    Great review as always and a class bike. I’ll watch the rest later! Have to go to dinner 😂

      It's very pretty to be fair, even with el BEAK!
      Yeah the auld tall people suffer eh, like realistically I could do with one on the CBF I'm just cheap :D
      Yeah fair, that said the older Aprilias like my one are bullet proof and the newer Ducs seem to be fairly solid. I do think Jap tanks are the way to go for remote stuff tho.
      It does, it doesn't get to 100 units of speed all that fast tho, it's quick, not fast. Plenty for the road tho :)
      Yeah it is super comfy to be fair, actually found it hard to hand it back :P The thing is the pegs are grand until you need to brake. They're actually a lovely height otherwise.
      Thanks bud :) Haha enjoy! Getting the shout out the back door eh :P

    Great in-depth review. My friend had a black one and let me take it for a spin. Brilliant bike. Isn't the beak designed to channel air into the oil cooler? (I know that's part of the purpose on the BMW GS).

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks :) As a road bike it's honestly one of the best I've ridden from a riding point of view within speed limits etc. So nice.
      Yes it's a channel for the oil cooler that's mounted...in the mouth of the beak? :P But at the same time they could have made it less severe or something. Like I said I honestly can't actually settle on how I feel about it fully :P

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! :) Yeah I mean it fits well with the overall design, I just don't really like the look of it in general. A big lump of plastic, but overall it's a very pretty bike.

    Great review. The "all roundness", comfort, performance and striking looks make it a sensible option while being a red Ducati - mmmh. The beak, oh the beak - confuses me, juries out on that. If I had the money (which I don't) I would be hard pushed to choose anything but the z900rs - not really comparable but I just really love everything I've seen about it (your review was excellent). Anyway nice to think about these things. Cheers, Andy.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah I was genuinely surprised, I think I end up liking bikes a lot more as well when I go in to it not expecting it to be as nice as it is. Yeah the beak is weird, but in person it actually does suit it in a way. I can't figure out in my head to I like it, accept it or loathe it.
      Haha I get that :P I'd still love the Z900RS myself. I'd be wondering how many people will pick that. I think from a future bike for me on the daily tho I'll go for something more sitty uppy like this for the comfort. My right knee and hip aren't getting any better sadly. It is indeed :P Thanks Andy!

      I'd still go for the z900RS too. But would want Ivan to tune out the snatchy throttle.

    Hi again buddy, fellow big guy here 6ft 4, would you recommend this bike for a newbie only just passed my test? Or can it be restricted. Thanks as always love the channel. Thanks.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly don't really recommend any bikes to newbies, as it's massively dependent on the person and how mature they are whether this would be ok. It's not a bike that will bite you if you're sensible with it on the road, so, depending on the person, could this be used by a newbie - absolutely, but I'll let you decide are you suitable for it :D Thanks! :)

    Another great review. I said a while ago if I ever bought a brand new bike it would have to have cruise.
    I fell into a super deal on my 2020 model left over tracer 900 gt. I actually prefer it looks wise to the New GT9. I would love to hear your thoughts on the tracer. I actually paid less for mine than freeman's wants for the Ducati
    But New bikes are less expensive here.
    Good luck to you and Toaster on your upcoming move to this side of the pond. If not this country 👍

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ian! Yeah I do think if I was buying a new bike with any gizmos I'd want cruise, just to have it! It's not an expensive addition for the manufacturers :)
      I love how there is a chance I can pick up a previous model year bike brand new in the states, that'd be a nice win. Like you did, and I agree I do like the older Tracer 900 styling a bit more, I'd need to see them in person a bit more tho! If I ever got the chance to do a review on one I'd jump at it!! That's it, everything here is about 30-40% more new here from what I've seen so that has to translate to used sadly.
      Thank you! :)

  • @markfortin8286
    @markfortin8286 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks like a great bike! I agree about the beak, but I’d say the styling is fairly conservative compared to the original Multistrada.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really is, one of the best riding bikes I've tested around there! Yeah it is for sure, toned down a little. I'd still love to talk to the person who originally designed the beak and just ask "Why?" I mean the Panigale is a work of bloody art.

    It's a looker no doubts ! I like it a lot the beak thing ,well I get what your saying there I don't think they have any function and yet most of these type of bikes seem to have them .I think it's something that ya get used to rather than like and it would not put me off buying one .I remember that all Italian bikes used to have a bit of a reputation for iffy electrics and unreliability but hey no more that's fer sure great review GB would luv ta see more like this too while ya can 😉👌 pucker .

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is indeed, not too much red etc just nicely put together :) Haha yeah I just have never understood them at all, I'd love to know is there a proper design reason for them.
      Yeah pretty much all of them had eh :D Honestly it's rare you hear of a really bad issue with any new bike run these days. Quality control is much better. Thanks bud, I'll do more if I can :)

  • @RoadsOfOz
    @RoadsOfOz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know the multistrada would be the ideal bike for my height and weight (also age), but after seeing the new 950s Supersport, I would almost be tempted to trade the Griso in.

    I agree with you, I'm not a fan of the beak but it wouldn't be a deal breaker at all as long as I wasn't buying it. :) I mean it probably wouldn't be a deal breaker all things considered and the bike met all my other needs. Too bad about the cruise control, that just seems like a bad oversight for that bike. My favorite first ride from you: the Africa Twin, I just like the looks on it better but this bike is quite nice too.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha fair :P It's not a deal breaker for me either but I'd wonder would I ever not look and it and think "why does my bike have two chins" It's a bloody fantastic bike tho. Talking to Classic on the Patreon we decided it's because the italians still had to have something on there that made literally no sense :D
      I'd still absolutely love that manual Africa Twin, I hope I can own one one day :)

  • @wilmawife

    I remember the Ducati's of the 70s, broke down constantly, how times have changed. I like the look of the bike from the side but the front view with that beak awful. Great video.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah exactly, they have to stay reliable for a while to fully earn a new reputation....at least it looks like they're making headway there :)
      The beak is an odd one. Really really can never tell do I hate it or do I like it for the weirdness. Thanks :)

  • @stephencartwright5046
    @stephencartwright5046 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Predictable perhaps but the Z900 in all its retroness would be my favourite review. I hear a few Americanisms slipping into the speach, preparing to make yourself understood in the colonies. When there are no bad bikes, when we are speed controlled, when all the bikes have Brembo and Bosch and modes how it looks is all we are left with and I am sorry but I can't see past that beak. It is also another bike where from the cockpit you are looking at acres of plastic. Back to the Z9 I think. Thank you for another real this is what I experienced review. 👍

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tbh it's still a bike I think about a lot and return to looking at used ones, just out of my price range. Haha that's probably more so from growing up watching primarily American tv and watching American youtube people if there is any there :D I'm barely able to speak coherently on a good day anyway :D I would argue there already are very very few bad bikes. Speed controlled etc.....I'll honestly get off the planet or build my own bike in the garden.
      The beak is......I really don't know, the bike still catches my eye every time I'm in Freemans and such....but the beak when I focus on it my brain just asks "Why!?". I know the cockpit is a lot of plastic but I was really comfortable behind it, it also gives the illusion of a bike solid bike under you which is nice imo.
      Yeah the Z900RS is a bike I really hope I can own one day, the best of both worlds.
      Thanks Stephen!

    Yeah, at this point a monochrome display feels SO outdated and BMW's TFT LCD might be the best out there. Hang guards are a great idea, when I road offroad, trails hand guards are lovely but with those tires you will never see that kind of terrain. The camera view at 6:40 is awesome. I don't like the screen. No cruise, with ride by wire, on that genre of bike is a shocker TBH. You might laugh, but no cruise, for a bike I plan to take trips on, is a deal breaker for me. OC: You have reviewed to many bikes for me to pick a favorite 🙂but anything on the GSXR has to be up there for me, I don't know if that counts since it's your bike but that's my vote.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I was surprised tbh, I'd rather see some analogue boyos in there instead, or at the very least a combo of the digital and analogue like on my Falco. Weird to think there's near 20 years between them and the all digital isn't as nice imo! But....it's clear as day to be fair. Does the job.
      Even without trails and such on bikes that the suit the look of the wind protection is lovely :) Those terra force rs are actually apparently excellent for light off road duty, or so I've seen! :)
      Haha thank you sir. I tried to mix up the b roll :)
      No cruise is another big one yeah. Doesn't make much sense.
      Nah after trying cruise for the week on the s1000xr I get it, for longer trips it'd be lovely.
      Haha the GSXR definitely counts in my book and it appreciates the praise 😁😁😁

    • @opmike343
      @opmike343 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, the S is the model to get. Has the full TFT dash and cruise. The Non-S shouldn't really exist in this pricepoint.

      Yeah it's almost like they realised themselves they should have had those bits on there and fixed it. Mad really.
