    Liked and subscribed. Exellent real world review. The "Pros" should take some tips from you on what people want to see in a bike review. Safe travels my friend.

    You give more 'real world' info than the big magazine guys do. For example: 1) telling us your size and how you fit the bike 2) telling and showing us the headlight coverage (I ride a lot at night) 3) how is the bike for a pillion rider 4) maintenance intervals and costs 5) clutch engagement action and pull force needed 6) no gratuitous wheelies 7) how the bike responds with a passenger 8) no obnoxious music. Thanks for keeping it about the info -- and not trying to impress us with stupid human tricks. There are already too many bad review sites. Yours is not one of them. Subscribed.

    Yo dude...your vid review is one of the reasons I'm now riding a 2017 Multistrada. I've ridden motorcycles for over 40 years, but over the last 10 I was glued to H-D's and each new one got bigger and bigger, and I found I was riding less and less each year. Each one pulled me farther and farther away from my spirited dirt-bike riding/motocross roots. Last year I told my wife I was done with riding Harleys...for sooo many reasons. She was not happy, but understood. Earlier this year I went to a local bike shop to look at a BMW I saw online...and in person I was underwhelmed. Then, literally, I turned around and saw a 2017 Multistrada with only 5,000 miles on it staring me in the face, and I was floored by the looks/style of the bike. At that point I was pretty convinced that was going to be my next bike. I had to wait a few months for the weather to let me take it out for a test ride...and when I did, I was hooked: The power, the handling, the styling...THIS was the bike I've wanted for decades, but didn't know it. I'm now putting roughly a 1,000 miles a month on my Duc, and loving every minute. So thanks 2 Wheeled Rider.

    Very nice review, I enjoyed it a lot!
    I've got 2010 Kawasaki Versys 650 and put 50 000 miles on it, didn't have any issues, did a lot of comfort enhancements. Versys works so well that even I know I should replace it sooner or later, it's so hard to find a bike of the same class but just more powerful and more refined. 2017 MTS 950 is that kind of bike: almost the same weight as my V, more power, better components, more comfortable, easy to ride, and it doesn't cost a leg and an arm.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't disagree with anything you said. Now all that's left to do is throw a leg over one to make sure you like it!

    I know I'm late to comment, but I'm catching up on all of your vids; I have this bike MS 950s, 2019 model; As someone who does a lot of touring I value your opinion, and I feel your review is spot on. So far I haven't experienced any key fob issue like your sister or any other issue to date. Nice job going over the mechanics of the bike.

    That was by far and away the most informative review of the Ducati Multistrada I have watched.
    Now I have a 2011 Triumph Tiger 1050 with 77,000ks (48,000 miles)- which I really like but am really tempted by a 2017 Multistrada 950 with 30,000ks (18,000 miles).
    Now trick question stick with the 1050 or go multistrada?
    Triumph $8k 950 $11k.

    Hi man! Great review! Did you find annoying the reflection of the speedo on the wind protection shield during night time or do you get used to it fast? During this short time you were riding night time the reflection took my attention for some reason but in other hand you didn’t mention anything about it. Or was it just camera affect and angle but it’s not that bad in reality? Thanks!

    • @2WR
      @2WR  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. There was a bit of glare but the camera mount made it appear worse in the video than it was in real life. You get used to it quickly.

    I own the 1200 Multistrada. Bought it 2 months ago and it is the best you can ask for any bike. If you are thinking in buying one, get yourself also the heated grips, sat nav and crash bars. It does pays the price to have them. Oh! Don't forget the rounded plastic panniers, you will need them later. Cheers!

    Really nice review!!! Real world review for ordinary people!! Just a question: would you recommend it for a comparatively novice rider?!

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Depends how novice...I wouldn't recommend it for a first bike (nor would I recommend any brand new bike for a first bike). Anyone with a season of riding experience should be fine on it though. With the electronics and rider aids on, it'll keep you out of trouble. The bike is really easy to ride.

    Quality content for an excellent review!
    Please I am passing my license here in Morocco (we get an unlimited license "A" after succeeding) and I would like to know your opinion on the multistrada 950 for a beginner (controlling, maneuverability ...) in motorcycle but who has traveled tens of thousands of km with an SUV car (I'm 1.79 m and 90 kg). Thanx a lot. Cheers.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should fit the bike just fine. As with any bike, I would suggest a test ride first. It has plenty of customization with the electronics to keep you safe and kinda grow into when it comes to the power modes. The newest model has some additional upgrades to make the bike even better than the 17 I tested. It would make an excellent touring bike but still plenty of fun on the twisties and even in town.

    Have a Versys 1000 but really like the sound of this! What do you reckon? Worth a bike change?

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough one because I do like the Versys 1000, too. Performance-wise the Ducati wins hands down being about 100lbs lighter, better suspension and more power. I think as far as touring capability, it's probably about a tie. If I were choosing brand new between the two, I'd take the 950. Since you already have a Versys 1000, I'd say take a test ride on the Multi and see if it can whoo you into trading in your Kawi and some cash.

    Great review. I have a 2008 MTS 1100s, and I love it. I just wish it had ABS and DTC. Don't need the electronic suspension of the 1200, or the massive horsepower.

      Thanks! In regards to the Valparaiso 2 so far I love it. I've worn it with the temperature in the mid to upper 20s and stayed warm with the thermal liner in. I've also worn it in the upper 60s without the liner and just a tshirt underneath it was great. Haven't tested it's waterproofing or real hot weather capabilities yet.

      How is the build quality, and does the fabric on the impact areas seem to offer decent crash protection? Enjoy the ride.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a top notch garment in terms of materials with much heavier material in the impact areas as well as CE armor. Just need to be careful when it comes to sizing. It's definitely more of a "European" cut.

    Great review, I liked you actually showed some "daily usage tips". I currently have a FJ-09, but I would like to hear anyone's opinion on trading it for the multi. I rode the 950 for a short while (20 mins) and noted its less "aggressive" but it does brake better. Is it worth the extra bucks?

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough call. I've owned some Yamaha's I've loved but that 950 is a helluva bike. I think the long term maintenance costs are going to be close to a wash so it comes down to the upfront cost. Approx $3k more up front? If you can afford it, I'd probably buy the Ducati.

      I'm a former Monster owner so I have a soft spot for those bikes. The Monster is fun as hell on twisties and around town. I've done some longer distances on one but that's not really what they're made for and there's not much wind protection on the highway. The Multi 950 is better suited for longer distances and overnight trips but still great as an all-rounder. I really think it comes down to the type of riding you're going to do. Taking time to reply is one of my favorite parts of being on TH-cam. I hope that information helps.

    I really like the _Ducati _*_Multistrada_* in both versions *BUT* seems that _Ducati_ reserve the best components to the _1200 _*_Enduro_* (I mean the luggage rack, panels and even the display) because the luggage racks of the _1200 _*_Enduro_* is made of aluminium and here in _950_ is from *plastic* and I don't see that was fair for long trips.
    Didn't get if the panels here are also of aluminium like the _1200_ but seems to be plastic...
    Other thing that I dislike is the fuel capacity, in that model is so poor when in _1200 _*_Enduro_* there are 30 liters (7.92 gal) like in the bavarian competitor.
    I wish I can buy the _1200 _*_Enduro_* but if _Ducati_ enhances the lacks of the _950_ I think is even better option for urban environments and not very long trips and maybe in _offroad_ trips.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Martin. Despite the 19" front wheel I think the 950 is definitely more sport touring over adventure touring. That said, with some more trail oriented tires, I'd be interested to see what it could do. If there is the demand, I could see Ducati coming out with a more "adventure version" of the Multi 950. On the topic of bags, the bags from the Enduro 1200 (Touratech aluminum) can be fitted to the 950.

    any thoughts on the mileage? I personally am a big fan of the GS style because they provide all of the fun and great mpg simultaneously. Great review btw!

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ducati says 48mpg w/ a tank range of 211 miles. I only saw low 40s out of it. That was likely from a combination of riding it hard on roads I know very well AND keeping it running while setting up cameras to record both on and off the bike. My next review (which posts tomorrow) I give the mpg but take it with a grain of salt.

    Excellent Review and superb bike. I have a 2017 Ducati Full Throttle that I ride to work and within heavy traffic on a Daily Basis (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Will you swap to a Multi 950? I love how nimble and fun the FT is but I struggle a lot on high speeds on highway and Occasional Touring. Once again, Congrats on the review!

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Martin, I've ridden them both and they both have their merits. With the description you've provided, I think you may find the Multi 950 will better suit your needs. While not as nimble as the Scambler FT, don't think you'll have any issue navigating heavy traffic with it and find it much better on the highway an occasional touring. I'd definitely go test ride one to see what you think.

    question. how do you feel this bike will do on long journeys? 500 miles plus journey? im thinking of buying a sport touring bike ikd which one yet

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it'd be great. Compared to my FJR (which I've done an Iron Butt on) and my 1290SA (400+ in a day so far), it's just as comfortable to ride. The Yamaha FJR1300, Kawasaki Concours, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and BMW R1200RS are all sport-tourers "roughly" in that same price range as well.

    • @aquilotti1987
      @aquilotti1987 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      only that this 950 has those 19inches wheels that make it more of sport touring slash ADVENTURE bike as well. how do you feel this 950 would do with a passenger in the back for long journeys such as 400 plus miles per day trips for the passenger? IT would be my Girlfriend and if that thing is uncomfortable she would be freaking out. let me know thanks bud

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't speak for the passenger. Like Kristen said in the video, the seat could use a little more cushioning (that's easy enough) and anyone much taller than her may be a bit cramped. If you test ride one, be sure to take your gf with you.

    Best motorcycle review i've seen.. for any bike. Keep up the great work. I am considering either the Multi 950 or the BMW R1200R as my next bike. I love the naked bikes but I want to do 50/50 highway/city in Michigan so I'd like some sort of windscreen and heated grips and hand guards. Tough choice for me as both dealers are close to me, any thoughts would be much appreciated!

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Will! More bike reviews coming soon. BMW or Ducati? Tough call. Since I know my Ducati dealer really well, I'd go with Ducati but definitely try to ride them both before making a decision. Also the 950 can be outfitted from the dealer or factory with heated grips (additional charge).

      1) Yes, even in sport mode it was smooth.
      2) Nope
      3) It's a twin so it's gonna vibrate more than an inline four but not so much that it's bothersome.

    Find it strange that 937cc/113 hp is called "baby" these days?
    I think a great alternative to the Ducati product here in the 950 clothing, is the Suzuki DL1000/XT. 1037cc with more torque and a bit less hp. Also 511 pounds. Motorcycle.com did a shootout between 950, DL1000, and RnineT and the DL was the conclusive winner for a lot of reasons. I'm probably going to be picking up a DL1000XT tomorrow!

    I can't confirm that the 950 weighs 40 pounds less than the 1200. Where did you get that figure?

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Tippett wet weight figure for the 1200 are all over the place. I've seen as low as 518 but many places have it listed as 527. The 1200 Enduro (the last Multi I rode) is listed at 560. One article had the regular Multi 1200 listed at 13 less than the Enduro (so 547). The only way to know for sure is to throw it on a scale. Heck, the listed 950 wet weight is with the tank only 90% full.

    I'd say the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 comes the closest in specifications.
    Suzuki: bit more torque, bit less power. Same fuel capacity. 11 pounds heavier. Better tire sizes (110/80 and 150/70) for off-paved selections. Reliability and long engine service intervals. Dealer support/parts.

    Thanks for your review. New subscriber here. (The wifey info super important!) I have to say that I'm not convinced in the strategy they are using with this bike, oh and by the way the bike is freakin awesome! I have a Tiger 1200 and looking for something a bit smaller and I really like this bike. However, I think the Triumph approach of having their Tiger line up being equal is a better one than Ducati having the 950 being a second-class citizen next to it's older brother. A lot of customers buy motorcycles due their size, not their pockets, specially in the premium market. So, why not let people that want to have a smaller Multistradas upgrade to other key features if they want to? If you are a Ducati customer, you are in for a full Ducati experience, not a Type B one. This is counter intuitive with what Ducati as a brand represents. Just my 2 cents. Love the bike but will keep my Tiger Explorer with full features for now. When the bike comes with the options, I will be a closer conversion for the change.

    If they added cruise, this would outsell every touring bike.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm speculating that I "could" be added. Since it has a Ride-by-Wire system in theory it's only missing the buttons.

    • @CapeVoice
      @CapeVoice 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen it done. Company called Tuneboy out of Austrailia. They flash the ECU on the Diavels and older Multi's. Simply push the starter button on the bike and you're locked on that speed. Press the brake or clutch, it disengages. No added buttons, no wiring, nothing. Too bad they're not focusing on Ducati anymore, they've been on a Yamaha kick lately and lost business from the Ducati guys because a Hypermotard cruise control was promised and they never came through. We had a ton of guys in line to buy it and they never developed it. A shame.

      No problem. As far as comparing the two (I've rode the original Super T before the ride by wire) I would say the Yamaha is the more offroad worthy of the two but the 950 is way more fun and better handling on the street. At about the same price point you're really going to have to decide if you want an ADV bike (Yamaha) or a sport touring bike (Ducati).
