Thanks man you saved my day bro!
Awesome! Glad I could help!
@Vito’s Fix yea, Toyota man, my 97' has 310k miles on it and going strong. 3.4 liter best car I've ever owned. Parts on it dont break, they wear out. Lol.
Mine has 234k now, good car!
Wish I saw this before spending $600 on a locksmith w keys for my old car😭
Yeah.. im sorry
What size drillbit
I don’t remember, sorry. It was a common size though if you want to get a small set.
Thanks for video good shit
Thanks for watching!
Is this the same for a 1997 lexus es 300 and did you order the new cylinder and key from rock auto ? Also did you need to do any sort of programming or was it just plug and play ?
Not sure. I got it from AutoZone as a set with the key. No programing for me.
THANK YOU
You’re welcome!
Did your new cylinder come with new set of keys? Are the keys codes as transponders? So did you program them in your vehicle on board? What did you do? I have a 2007 corrola i want to change the cylinder also that comes with new set of keys
Mine came with keys. I didn’t have to do anything else other than install it. Now, I had a different key for my ignition, then I did my trunk, but for the low price, it was ok with me.
We still need to drill the pin if we have the key for the og cylinder?
In my scenario, I couldn’t get my key to turn the ignition at all, which is what releases the pin. If you can get yours to turn, you won’t need to drill it out.
What if someone stole and jammed you ignition to the point it won’t fully lock the car even without the key. I tried putting my key in but it sticks out half way. I’m trying to get my car running again 😢
@benjaminlee6928 same procedure shown in this video.
How did you get the ignition back into accessorie when you pulled it out on lock
The broken one, I didn’t. I threw it away and replaced it.
I have a 2000 Camry, cylinder locked up a couple weeks ago, Tow driver got it unstuck, it sticks a little.
Toyota Service dept. told me $190 for the part and Three hours labor to install it. That looks like a 15 minute job if you have the right tools.
Hmmmm, pay them almost $600 or do it myself for less than $100, which is the better deal?.....
One reason this channel even exists … 🤣. I don’t like paying other people outrageous amounts of money to do something I can figure out.
I put mine on but the park light stays on why ?battery dies after couple days kinda annoying
There is something else going on. Your ignition shouldn’t have anything to do with that.
Probably a stupid question but i was quoted $700 to put in a new ignition and program the key because i have an immobilizer system. When i buy a new ignition, it has to have a chip too, right? And i would have to have it programmed? Is there a way to do that myself? The cylinder is already out, i just need a new one. I didnt realize this car had an immobilizer, i had a 99 and it didnt have one so i drilled jt lut and started it with a screwdriver but it wouldn't work with my 03, its been sitting for months now, and i HABE to get it running, im a single foster mom and i live 14 miles ro the closest store, and theres no public transportation. I need to do this as cheaply as possible. Any recommendations on where to get a cheap cylinder/key would be a huge blessing as well.
I’m not familiar with the immobilizer system. I would try buying the ignition system for that make and model, installing it, and going from there. The key will come with it. Let me know how it works. Either way, you will need the new ignition setup if there is any programming required after.
Dude idk where you live but when mine did this, the pins kept the key from turning, my buddy helped get the cylinder out and then I took it to a locksmith who just removed the broke pins. Since I live where I'm not concerned at all about auto theft, the locksmith just removed all the pins except like two, just enough to keep the key from falling out when driving. Locksmith charged me 50 bucks, got my buddy a case of beer, and that was it. I kept my key, no new parts. Depending on your location and driving habits, it may be worth it to just remove those broken pins. Even if you left the car unlocked, if the transponder.chip isn't close by the car isn't starting, even if you can get the ignition to turn with a screwdriver. Just something to keep in mind. This happened to me in 2017, 7 years later and I still got my 03 accord, and not a single ignition problem since.
I have a 2011 corolla I’ve tried everything and the cylinder won’t come out I know there’s 2 holes on the side and bottom but I don’t know which one I should drill
Try with the bottom first.
Do you have the new one? If so, you should be able to play with it to figure out where the release is.
@@VitosFix ima try that I drilled it from the side and yea I have the new cylinder w key
@vitosfix do you have instagram or some wat I can contact you?
Yeah man. Just search me on IG.
Sounds like a stupid question but how long did you drill until you got it to pop out. I feel like iv been drilling for a while now
It took a minute, but I wasn’t using a new bit. Are you able to get under it and see what it looks like with a flashlight? Move the ignition around a little to see what’s going on.
@@VitosFixso I tried drilling it but not sure if the ones I have are too weak? All I see when I look under is the silver from the metal of the key ignition switch. Having the same problem were it doesn’t move passed the lock
@@jimmyce4530you have to start with a 1/16 bit and work it up to bigger one. Also, you have to put some power into it making sure it makes a clean thorough hole. Basically all the way to the top of the cylinder
will that work on a 2002 saturn sl2?
Not sure
تمااام
Es broca normal o para aceros??
una broca normal debería estar bien
I need one my 4Runner has the same ,where can I get one of those
Amazon, check out the link for mine in the description. Thanks for watching!
Dose the new ignition stay in or do you need to zip tie it
It should stay in by itself. 🤣
What size is the drill bit
I apologize, but I do not remember. It was a common size though if you want to buy a small set.
What if the Ignition rod is not in line with the new cylinder?
Put the key in ignition and turn it to align; ACC, start, etc. If I’m understanding what your asking.
@@VitosFix Kinda. The problem is that, to insert the new cylinder, the key has to be turned to ACC. The back of the cylinder is then not in line with the ignition rod. I drilled out the old cylinder which left the ignition rod in the locked position.
The pin on the bottom of the cylinder has to be compressed for the cylinder to go in. But I can't turn the key to align with the rod while the pin is compressed.
So you can turn it with a Gerber or needle nose pliers so it’s in the position it needs to be in.
If you turn the ignition to accessories you can just push that pin in and remove.
Agreed… in this scenario, the ignition was so messed up, that I couldn’t turn the key at all. Thanks for watching!
@@VitosFixsame here what size drill bit
@neverfull766 not just get you a small set of them and put the biggest one you can get in there, but don’t mess up the housing.
Hi2
Por qué tanta agresividad no hay necesidad de usar taladro simple pon la llave en accesorios empujas el perno y jalas
El mío estaba tan estropeado que no pude convertirlo en accesorios.
Se necesita programar la nueva llave supongo
