Thanks dude. This key barrel looks pretty much the same as my 1998 Toyota Granvia (Japanese import version of toyota Hi ace). The removal and replacement was exactly the same procedure for my vehicle except the first bit of plastic surround was bigger on my Granvia and had to undo 2 screws lower down. I had my key but was having problems turning it. I sprayed some WD40 but had no luck turning the key. I tried wiggling it, with no luck, then tried ramming the key in really quickly and attempted to turn to start position it worked after about the 20th go then carefully moved it back to the acc position. That allowed me to push the pin in. I did need to use a very small flat head screwdriver to prize the barrel out. job took about half an hour. Would not have been able to do it without this video. Thanks again.
Dude…it’s ACC not AGG. It stands for accessory. Thanks it help me with the exact same problem. I had to use a Dremel because even a brand new drill bit wouldn’t cut that little button. I never would have thought that key alarm button had anything to do with turning the back paddle. How did you figure that out?
OMG! You helped me so much. All the other videos didn’t have my situation. My 2002 4Runner original ignition is STUCK all the way to the left. Thanks so much!
Thankyou thankyou so much I am about to perform the same (no key) on 1996 Camry, this has been the most useful youtube video I have seen an a very long time!😃
If anyone also has a locked steering wheel like I did make sure to move the wheel as you turn the inner part to get it to line up with acc. Also you can put the cylinder in with no key and then insert the key to lift the tab part. Just did this on 97 Camry thanks for the video 💪🏼
@@ThatGreyIS300 sorry for late reply. If you mean that you got the new ignition in without having to use pliers to turn the cylinder then you can just turn your wheel like you would normally while its locked and get it started. But if you need to remove the cylinder after you got it in you you should be able to remove it with key now so you should be alright the only issue would be if you had to drill the new one out.
Your hopes of helping someone who must undergo this exact procedure (such as myself), did not fall short of excellence in achieving their intent. You cover all the bases - much thanks.
THANK YOU!!! I was aiming down the same path. Thanks for confirming. And for taking us through it. I really need to quit fixing other peoples messes.🤣 and stick to painting
wish I saw this before jamming a screw driver into the slot and sheering it off. in doing so I got the cylinder out but that tab back in there just freely spins... owned my life long dream truck (1st Gen Tacoma) for a total of 3 days and now I have to send it to a shop for God knows how long for God knows how much..
This video is 4 years old, but I'm curious if you can slide it part of the way in with it turned to ACC (Accessory), and then turn it back to Lock at the point that you need to make it snug. Not sure if it'll work, depending on how the bottom pin is designed, but I suppose it's _possible_
Ok worked this out. Instead of doing this and wrecking your barrel most toyotas of this era have a key that fits both door lock and barrel. Way easier to remove door lock and take to locksmith and get a key cut, Then just replace lock. No damage. Pro tip. Must use drivers side door. The lock has the "master code".
I have this same problem on my 2004 Camry but my steering wheel is locked pin is in the top of ignition cylinder and hard for drill to fit. Still haven’t figured it out yet don’t know a lot about cars.
On my tundra I ended up getting a whole ignition assembly from a parts tundra and just swapped the whole thing. I looked all over and couldn’t find something like this anywhere when I was trying to fix mine. A month later I found the damn keys
I’m going to ginger this. After changing out the entire steering column and switch and whatever I did I have been without my car for 6 months. This will be my last chance to get my 97 Camry running.
Your key may be worn down I have 6 set of keys my my 2000 Toyota Camry and 3 of them won’t work. If you get a new key made and it still has troubles starting then most likely the teeth inside your cylinder are worn down and you made to replace the cylinder like I did. A new key will come with it. Keep in mind that that key won’t lock or unlock your doors
Good video but you kept saying the same thing over and over and over and over and never getting to the point.. You could have said it all in 2 minutes instead of 8 if you would have thought about what you have to say... ACC stands for ACCESSORY .. Accessory Position
So do it and show us and it's not a Gigi it's a cc stands for accessory you're doing a good job on the video but do it don't just tell us twice Do It show us I want to see it done let's go for it go go go
ACCESSORY ACC / ACCESSORY (ACC ON) The second position is the ACC/ACCESSORY position, which allows you to use your radio, windshield wipers, and other accessories while the engine is off. This position should also be used in the event that your vehicle is being pushed or towed. In this position, the engine is off.
I have to do this on my van, I have the key but it will not turn. Thanks for posting this, good man.

OMG! You helped me so much. All the other videos didn’t have my situation. My 2002 4Runner original ignition is STUCK all the way to the left. Thanks so much!

If it locked the wheel and I already have it put back together can I go back or did I mess up?

Thank you so much. Someone tried to steal my car (making neither of us very lucky) and I needed to change this part on my own.
Couldn't explain it better 👏 🙌! Thanks for the tip and information! God bless!
Great instruction. A cobolt drill bit helps. This approach also applies when you have a key but it won’t turn any.
Thanks for the drill thing that part helped me out a lot.

Respect for doing this the only way you can.

Can't take the cylinder out after. Drilling the pin ...key won't turn ...help please
ever figure it out?
Thanks dude
Thanks this is useful
Thanks man.
So can you get a screwdriver and butcher it to ACC? Then it is just a matter of pushing on button. Before I try....
Does anyone know if this will work for a 98 Avalon?
I’m going to ginger this. After changing out the entire steering column and switch and whatever I did I have been without my car for 6 months.
This will be my last chance to get my 97 Camry running.
Oh you are the best
El problema es que mi llave no gira amigo, como lo puedo sacar
Your key may be worn down I have 6 set of keys my my 2000 Toyota Camry and 3 of them won’t work. Great video .. very detailed
Video is not exactly accurate but if you have a brain and understand English. It is guaranteed to work. Thanks man. Great video
Thank you!
Good video but you kept saying the same thing over and over and over and over and never getting to the point.. You could have said it all in 2 minutes instead of 8 if you would have thought about what you have to say... ACC stands for ACCESSORY .. Accessory Position
El problema es como quitarlo si la llave no gira, está ya atorado un Lexus es300 modelo 98
Dice que tienes que meter una broca para metal de 3/16 don está el pin hasta que se destruya y lo sacas. Le tomo media hora hacerlo.
Thanks ur a good man I use your ideals on a Toyota 03 Tacoma and it help me out thanks
Someone tried to steal my car and my key won't fit anymore. Ty so much!
goated
Thanks
So do it and show us and it's not a Gigi it's a cc stands for accessory you're doing a good job on the video but do it don't just tell us twice Do It show us I want to see it done let's go for it go go go
Agg?
Or acc
AGG........😂😂😂😂😂😂ACC(Accessory)
ACC STANDS FOR ACCELERATION. THIS WAS A VERY GOOD VIDEO BUT THAT IRRITATED ME EVERYTIME.
ACCESSORY
ACC / ACCESSORY (ACC ON)
The second position is the ACC/ACCESSORY position, which allows you to use your radio, windshield wipers, and other accessories while the engine is off. This position should also be used in the event that your vehicle is being pushed or towed. In this position, the engine is off.
This is stupid.
Thankyou
Thanks
Thanks
