It's time to solve the issue of this CR250 engine not wanting to shift. I'll be doing a complete overhaul of this two stroke powerplant so it's getting torn all the way down.

Watching all the videos of tearing down and parting out bikes. I've been waiting for a tear down and build. The most satisfying thing is when I can get a bike for cheap that looks beat, then go through the bike (not quite as deep as you are) and completely transform it.

    Hi from Bulgaria, Europe
I watch all videos from your channel !
    And I have a advice:
Why don't you take a picture before-after and showing to us - I know you record it but in pics it will be better i think -
(as we all just love that before-after shots)

Loving the build. I am amazed at how comfortable you are stripping that bike down to the smallest of parts. I could never get it back together.I came back to motocross 2 years ago after 28 years off!! I couldn't stand the thought of buying a 4 stroke even though I thought it would be a lot easier to ride. I went ahead and bought a beautiful, brand new, 2016 YZ250 and I love it every time I ride it!!Keep up the cool vids!

  • @drewcecato221
    @drewcecato221 2 ปีที่แล้ว

the crankcase splitter is supposed to be suspended off the cases with those extra washer you had just threaded onto the studs. its far less likely to break the welds on those tusk splitters and will not hurt your aluminium cases. i also feel they separate better. i did it like this once or twice lool.

    Yo Cameron!
Thx for all your help brother, your videos have been more than a blessing!
I am restoring/rebuilding my yz125 because nobody could find the reason for the problem it had.
The bike will not shift on high RPM but needs the RPM to settle to below 5-7K for the gear to get in.
i too discovered the same problem you see on 2:43 which no "mechanic" saw but does anything else cross your mind?
I hope you feel better already too!
my prayers for an easy going recovery warrior!

Cameron, really Iove your videos and the quality at which you get things done...keep up the awesome work !! I'm the same way and you remind me alot of myself. I've really been stressed the past five days...This video helped chill me out. Sadly my christmas really sucked !! my 2016 Husqvarna TC250 was stolen 2 days before christmas early morning from my garage. The next day I filed a police report, a few hours later the scum bag listed it on Facebook marketplace as a dunlop 250 dirt bike for $1500. My cousin contacted him pretending he wanted to buy it...we set it up to meet with him at a gas station and had the police come. The police made us wait at a gas station down the street and they went to meet the guys at another gas station, Two guys showed up but they didn't have my bike, they said it was at another location and did not cooperate and said they were selling it for a friend...long story short, I didn't get my bike back and the police couldn't detain the guys..what a joke...I think that was my one chance and now I don't think I'll ever see it again !! I am by no means rich !!...this was the newest bike and was the most expensive thing I have ever owned...It just really hurts.

I have a 1997 Yamaha RT100, it seems hard to shift, but it does shift. I think it might be a build up of dirt in the shift shaft, but if it’s something different then it should be an easy fix.

Had a similar issue with a 96 YZ250 stuck in 5th. Issue was the spring retaining pin from the power valve assembly cane loose and wedged it’s way near the selector assembly. Had to split the casings to get it out. Also was unable to get into its power band.

I have the same bike. Been building mine up for quite a few years now. Would take it over a new bike at this point. Love watching your videos but it scares me watching you use air tools on the engine. Guess it's ok for disassembly but that's still living life dangerously. At least in my eyes. I'd def be doing it all by hand. Looking forward to the completed outcome of the bike.
