  • Hello everyone!
    I Finally Successfully Got My Cardinal Tetra to Spawn!!
    In this video, I will be showing you the detailed steps on how I successfully induced my cardinal tetra(also known as Paracheirodonaxelrodi) to spawn.
    The video documents how I purchased new cardinal tetras and conditioned them in separate tanks. I also demonstrate how to differentiate between male and female cardinal tetras, and set up the breeding tank.
    In addition, I used untreated water from a local stream, which had a pH of around 6.8-7 and a GH close to 0. I did not measure the TDS, but the water was neutral and soft. The temperature of the water was maintained between 25-28 degrees Celsius.
    I also explain how I had to take measures to encourage spawning when the cardinal tetras did not spawn after two days, and successfully captured footage of them spawning.
    Although I only managed to get 4 fry, considering that most of the fish were breeding for the first time and lacked experience, I believe the breeding process will be smoother in the future. Thank you for watching.
    Additionally, I would like to correct a mistake in the video. When I mentioned "most of the fish",at 06:46 I actually meant most of my previous breeding attempts with the same species. Most of the cardinals from those attempts have since passed away.
    Thank you for watching!

    谢谢大家的观看!

      Hi, I haven't personally kept or bred emperor tetras before. But given their relatively low market price and widespread availability in my country, I assume they should be fairly easy to breed. They don't strictly require lower pH water conditions for breeding. I suggest trying to set up a breeding tank with a few moss cups and checking those cups daily for eggs. This is a similar approach to how I breed CPDS, and it might work well for emperor tetras too. Good luck with your breeding project!

    would you recommend doing 50% water changes every day and if not how often and what time should I be doing them?

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John, thank you for your question! While I don't personally do water changes to trigger spawning nowadays, it can be an effective method. If you decide to do a water change, I recommend doing it after the tetras have been in the breeding tank for at least 7 days. You don't have to do it every day. Normally, they should spawn the day after you make the water change. If they don't, you can put them back in the community tank and try again next time. Also, it's necessary to keep the experienced females in a separate tank dedicated to future breeding projects. Once they have successfully spawned for the first time, subsequent breeding attempts are typically smoother.

    breeders will often sell you a full batch of either male or female fish to discourage you from breeding. its a bad practice. best way to fight it is to buy smallest batches from multiple breeders. if you have 1 quarantine tank only then you can buy those batches over a time period.

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the insight! I agree that some breeders might use such tactics, which isn't ideal. Buying smaller batches from multiple breeders sounds like a smart approach.
