  • Hello everyone!
    This video is about how I raise neon tetra fry day by day.Neon tetra fry are very small and fragile when they hatch, so raising them is far more difficult than some livebearers.
    In this video I will show you how I take care of my little fish every day.
    My goal is to record their daily growth for 30 days. Although it may feel a little boring, I personally feel that if I can finally raise them successfully, it will be very fulfilling.
    This video only shows their condition 4-8 days after hatching, I will continue to update them later.
    Thank you for your attention!
    Time stamps:
    0:11 - Day 4 Neon tetra fry
    01:23 - Day 5 Neon tetra fry
    04:59 - Day 6 Neon tetra fry
    09:23 - Day 7 Neon tetra fry
    10:58 - Day 8 Neon tetra fry

      @@bothetetrabreeder8734 great video, amazing they ate the BBS, usually they do better with powdered like Aquaria Life said, or you can use a culture of banana worms. Easy to maintain and way smaller than BBS, and good nutrition.

    Dear Bo:
    I had an infestation of tiny, white flatworms in my, bedroom tank, so I added three, juvenile white cloud mountain minnow (Tanichthys albonubes). They, quickly, devoured all, visible flatworms. Now that I have fauna, in that tank, I intend to add cherry shrimp (Neocaridina davidi), to devour leftover fish food and, hopefully, keep algae down. It is tempting to over-feed, but I’m working on that.
    Adding a pest snail, to rid a grow-out tank, of left-over, brine shrimp nauplii is very good. I tend to grow fry out, in a tank I want to remain an aquascape, so I haven't done this, for some time. But, for a bare-bottomed, grow-out tank, this process works well.
    Please allow me to offer one correction, as a huge fan of yours. I know you want to be correct, and English is not your, first language. The plural of “poop” is “poop.”
    Thank you for sharing your, terrific success, breeding neon tetra (Paracheirodon innesi),
    All my best,
    Sincerely,
    E. J. Brinegar

      Dear Brinegar, I think it's good that you added a few mountain minnows to your bedroom
      tank. only 3 of them produce little to no waste. They shall blend perfectly with your
      beautiful aquascape. Since there are only 3 of them, you don't even need to feed them daily as they can feed themselves by searching all those little worms hiding under the substrate.
      Yes, I am using a pest snail to eat the dead BBS. I wanted to use a ramshorn but unfortunately, my ramshorn snail population has gone nearly extint...
      Although ramshorn snails are parthenogenetic, my only remaining one just refuses to lay
      any eggs now. But I'm glad this pest snail can do the job just fine.
      I really appreciate that you once again corrected my grammatical mistake.
      Thanks a lot!

      Dear Bo:
      It’s a pleasure to correspond with an intelligent hobbyist who is willing to learn. Thank you for bringing this word to my attention:
      parthenogenesis
      reproduction from an ovum without fertilization, especially as a normal process in some invertebrates and lower plants.
      I took French in high school and college. I’m sure any attempts I made at conversing, in this language, would be laughable to a Frenchman.
      English is an extremely complex language, which breaks its own rules, add infinitum.
      Thank you for accepting my, helpful criticism, in the spirit, in which it was intended. I only want you to have good success.
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar

    Wow I didn't know that the neon fry would eat live bbs so early in development. Sir can you share what brand of bbs eggs you're using ?
    Also can you share more on you method of hatching the bbs eggs?
    How long do you keep it running until you reset to make new batch ?
    Thank you for sharing & keep up the excellent work. 👍👍👍👍

      @bothetetrabreeder8734  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi dear, it doesn't matter what brand of bbs eggs, it will all work. The key is that you need to put the fry in a tiny container like mine so that the BBS will be all over the tank. My method of hatching the bbs eggs is straightforward. I think you already see that in the video. You can have 3-4 trays like this, and make a new hatching batch every day. On day 3 or day 4, you can reset the first tray as all the bbs in it will be all dead by then. And repeat the cycle.

    Hi Bo. i Managed to get hundreds of eggs from my pregnant neón tetra, but they're all white. what do you think is the cause?
    I confess that the ph want 5 or 5.5. it was higher, but less thsn 6.5. Please help me. i will appreciate this

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  ปีที่แล้ว

      Below are the causes of white eggs that I can think of.
      1. Your parent fish may be inexperienced if you get them
      in the breeding jar for the first time.
      Try to do it again after a week or so. Or setting up multiple jars to increase the success rate.
      2. You might have two females in the breeding jar. I made this mistake before. Neons can actually lay eggs even without males sometimes.
      3. Make sure your hatching water is very clean
      and soft. Don't hatch the eggs in the breeding tank.
      Try to use RO water or bottled purified water as hatching water.
      I think the PH doesn't matter much when hatching the fry.
      Mine was even higher. It was 7.
      Let me know how it goes. Thank you!

    Hello Bo, how are you? Can I ask you something? I also bought eggs from pristella tetras. When will I give Artemia to the hatchlings? They didn't eat anything I gave them in the first 4 days and most of them died. I would be glad if you could help me.

      Hi, you can start feeding them baby brine shrimp only when they are free-swimming. When they reach this stage, they will have developed black eyes and will prefer to stay near the water surface. Typically, this occurs within 5-6 days, depending on the temperature. Before they become free-swimming, you shouldn't feed them anything as they still have yoke sac.

  • @AquaTurkish

    Hello again Bo, how are you? I am sorry for disturbing you. I currently have 20 crystal pristella babies, they have just been born. I put a small pipe filter in the 5 liter aquarium. What kind of snail should I use? Should the light remain on? I extracted artemia using the sponge method, but it has been 4 days and they are still alive, can I give them? I don't have time to extract them daily, I'm trying. I would appreciate it if you could help me Bo thank you very much again greetings from İstanbul.

      @bothetetrabreeder8734  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I'm doing well, thanks. I use ramshorn snails in my fry tank. Personally, I avoid using filters in my fry tank, which is typically a small container measuring only 10X10X10CM. I find this size ideal because it allows the fry to easily catch baby brine shrimp. Fry are usually quite still during their first 20 days, so constant lighting isn't necessary. However, once they are free-swimming, they become less sensitive to light. You should start feeding them when they begin free-swimming, typically around day 5 or 6 when they develop black eyes and hover near the water's surface. It's best to feed them at least twice, ideally three times a day, as baby fry grow quickly and require sufficient nourishment.
      As for the 'sponge method,' I'm not familiar with it, but it's crucial to ensure the fry aren't left with empty stomachs, as malnutrition can lead to their demise

    • @AquaTurkish
      @AquaTurkish 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello again Bo. I removed the aluminum foils wrapped around the aquarium and my pristella tetras are hanging on the glass and stuck to the glass. When should I feed? I found a common snail (asexually reproducing) but they are very small. We only have apple snails here, but I didn't add them for fear that they might eat the fish. Do these little snails harm baby fish? Love and greetings from a lively Istanbul evening. Thank you very much for your interest and concern.

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi,
      When the fry are clinging to the glass, that's a good sign. Soon, perhaps tomorrow, they will become free-swimming. You should prepare baby brine shrimp hatchlings now so that the fry can eat their first meal tomorrow. You should add the snail after they have eaten their first meal.

    • @AquaTurkish
      @AquaTurkish 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes BO, I prepared it last night, I will wait 24 hours, I put the eggs on the sponge and light. I've done this before, but I don't know how fish half the size of fish will swallow them. Thank you for everything Bo, we still have a lot to learn from you.

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AquaTurkish Most of the tetras I've successfully bred can eat BBS. Perhaps only green neon tetras require feeding egg yolks for about a week before they can consume fine-sized BBS. While I haven't personally kept or bred pristella tetras, considering their sizes, I don't think it should be too difficult for them. You're welcome, and I wish you the best of luck!

    how often and how much do you water change. i killed my last fry cause i changed to much i think.

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I agree that doing too much water change is harmful to the fry. Actually, I was just siphoning the snail poops and dead BBS. You can add a bit of new water if the water level is too low, by using a siphon, which does little harm to the fry.
      Thanks for your comment, Bobby!
