    For feeding in the spawning container Repashy Spawn & Grow works a treat. It is a gel food that stays intact so it you drop it on the side with the breeders, it doesn't contaminate the part of the tank under the spawning grids.

    Thank you for sharing. Im looking forward to your video everyday. Cardinal tetra is one of the species that has eluded me. Never manage to spawn. Someone taking their time to test and shares all these info is so rare. Keep doing man youre awesome

    Hey mate, great information. Thanks for all your work. I'm just wondering if you have made any more findings in the past couple of years?

    Hello so glad to hear your side.. I'm just a newbie tetra breeder I'm having the same problem with my emperor, red ember, glowlight, and neon tetra frys.. right after they hatch they all die when I leave them in the breeding tanks.. So I'm also doing what you're doing with your rams and using distilled water in a small container and hopefully I get some results..

    I’ve also noticed that cardinals start spawning around 11pm. But, interestingly, once they are in their breeding cycle they’ll spawn whether the lights are on or off on the tank…

    What's the minimum size tank to use as a breeding tank? How do you transfer your cardinals back into regular tank water from being in a tank with distilled water?

      For cardinals I like 10 gallons. To reintroduce: slowly change ~10% water every few days with your regular water source once they have their blue stripes and red bellies.

    Do you know if is it a problem to not have a light that simulate sunrise and sunset? Because I don't have those fancy ones...

      A normal light will do just fine, they breed in the dark. It’s more about the duration of light rather than sunrise/sunset. Stimulate spring and summer lighting duration. Most of my tanks also receive natural sunlight in the morning.

    do you still have albino cardinals? and were they fish you acquired or were they from the fish you bred?

    If using the peat moss, do you still use methylene blue? If so, how do you transition to no methylene so the infusoria aren't killed?

    • @AvatarAquatics
      @AvatarAquatics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need for MB with peat moss bottoms. And infusoria can survive low methylene blue concentrations. If you’re using the MB method for hatches, keep in mind that if your eggs have already hatched, you don’t need to add methylene blue anymore and can water change it out gradually

    Not to be a smarta** but I've kept my cardinal tetras in the breeding tank for like 3 days and last night I saw massive fry hatching, without methylene blue (I don't even know where to find it). Can't say how many of them will make it (if any) but at least they hatched...
