If anyone wondering what the sign at 6:19 says: Straw hats are a special product of Kasukabe City. Kasukabe City, located in the Furutone River basin, has fertile land and has long been a production area for rice and wheat. As a side business, farmers used the stalks of barley (mainly barley) to make 'Mugiwara Sanada' (Sanada knitting) and exported it overseas. Kasukabe started making hats using this straw Sanada. It is said to have been introduced around the 10th year of the Meiji era. From the Meiji era to the present, Kasukabe has produced various hats that meet the needs of the times, including straw hats for work and leisure. Traditional straw hat-making techniques have been inherited by seven manufacturers in Kasukabe City.
I would definitely buy these hats from this company, they put everything they got into their work. Hope they have the young generation continue their legacy
Very pleased to see such a hand made process. Thank you very much for caring this company so many years continuously. Wish you all the best and prosper well!
It is nice to see that even a foreigner was working there. It's inspiring that others also get into such traditional arts. Sadly many of such traditions are getting lost due to modernization and cheap goods. Please keep it up and teach others too.❤
This gives a person profound respect for handmade things . And I want one ❤❤❤ I want to go there . I want to try on hats . My husband loves hats too . Thank you for showing me this . 😃
I made rope baskets in the past. The technique is the same. The skill comes from knowing how to hold the hat to shape it. My baskets were good, not great but I saw others who did a much better job than I did. In short, it takes practice and patience but it isn’t that difficult.
Bom trabalho.

God bless those hands. They work so hard every day.

Thank you I did not know how talented the artists are. So interesting.
I will never look at a straw hat again without thinking of all the hard work and talent which went into its making. Thank you 🙏. Great artisans.🤩😍🇦🇺🙏
My thoughts exactly
You have never seen how panama hats are made than.
a dream of a hat, a dream of craftsmanship for the next 140 years. greetings from Switzerland

Beautiful in Japan, God’s own country ~
Im amazed...such skill.
@13:04 I was not expecting to see a black woman working in a Japanese factory. 👏👏
I thought exactly the same, I wonder, how she became a worker in this small factory.
Interesseting work, so different from panama hats.
Thank you. I appreciate your skills.
Where can I buy these, or other Japanese made products? It would be great if a link to a shop was provided.

Loved seeing the hats made, but I would have liked to have seen how the "straw tape" was made that makes up the hats.

I will love one 👍🏻
crazy...mostly one piece ❤❤❤
Bravo

Qué maravilla!👒❤
So many hats are there, it means still Japanese are using hats? But exactly where?
People working in fields or gardeners, for exemple.
