@Terry Melvin Yes. I once had a dry choke cable. It wouldn't move at all, thought the slider on the carb locked up but it was moving freely. Bit of oil, like new.
Very nice looking and i like the doorknob starter button, that's a unique quirk done by the builder but it's not rare to see odd starting systems on customs. The clutch is iffy but i'm sure it's not that bad and can be fixed. What are you talking about not getting the bike to run reliably? The carb is probably shot/tuned badly if that's the case.. Nothing major since the engine sounds fine. Just because it's custom, doesn't mean it's unreliable and uncomfortable. It was just made by someone, for themselves and to their taste. All bikes deserve respect and love.
Never really "fell in love" with any of my bikes .. although I did have a GSX250 back in the 80's that I was quite enamoured with as it was just "that good" but did have a 250X7 that tried its best to kill me on several occasions. I SWEAR to this day that bike was possessed by something downright evil I considered having it exorcised on more than one occasion. My younger brother PESTERED me to sell it to him for months so in the end I gave in and let him have it for a good price three weeks later a guy did a "U turn in his path as he was coming through at WARP and he buried it straight into the side of the car. He went partially through the windshield with his right arm ripping his wrist apart and severing the artery then was ripped back out and thrown with momentum over the bonnet and on up the road like a rag doll coming to rest with multiple broken bones and claret everywhere. His mate on the back of the bike hit the back of his helmet with his testicles on the way over him as he was thrown into the air and burst one of them as it impacted he also landed in a big mess. When I initially bought that bike it was written off with a bent front end and smashed front wheel and as such I got it cheap but that was the third time it had been in a bad smash in the hands of the same owner. He re framed it and rebuilt it with new forks and front wheels handlebars tank etc. The last time it happened some dumb blonde reversed out of her drive as he came barreling around the corner he had no chance of stopping and went straight into the back and was thrown over the car sustaining a broken arm/wrist two fingers and a broken leg in three places ... she got out of the car and screamed at him "Look what you've done to my car (facepalm). I rebuilt the bike with yet another new frame/forks front wheel headlight indicators front mudguard and tank from a donor I picked up real cheap and that bike tried its VERY best to wipe me out on SEVERAL occasions how the hell I got out of some of them I'll never know but there you have it, some bikes have a soul and personality all of their own this one was Evil incarnate somewhere along the way it picked something up that shoulda stayed dead and buried ... true story.
I had a 1991 FXSTC open BDL it’s not that stiff. Cable is dry or routed wrong. Finally fished the 91 and gave it to my dad. He doesn’t ride long distances anymore, so it fits his style. It’s in my videos if you want to check it out.
Exactly how I feel about my classic cars. Anyone can get in their Prius worry free and know it’s going to get them home but every time I start my ride there’s a small part of me that knows something might not work and I might be performing road side surgery all night. Haha
Love It !! Got one close to it, 2" up with a 45 degree rake 21" front and 200mm rear. Wideglide front end @ 2 over stock. Big difference is the air ride seat.... stock SnS Evo. Very dependable....
I bought a 1200 Sportster that was fitted with Edelbrock heads, Andrews cam, Keihin carburettor, S&S exhaust, Dyna coils, etc. Engine was so well sorted, and ran 104bhp on the dyno. The chassis and suspension were standard, as was the single dis, single piston front brake. The thing was so scary to ride on the crowded roads of the UK. Sold it as it was only good to ride for 5% of the time. Now on a 175bhp KTM which is far less of a handful to ride fast or slow.
Dude from srk that is the truest motorcycle video you've ever made those are the type of motorcycles I drove most of my motorcycling career that's what it's all about true ameraucana
Reminds me of my 81" Honda CB400 Cafe racer, everything on her shouts 40 years old, she hurts me all over everytime I ride her, but I love her more than anything....she's my baby
I've ridden a lot of different bikes over the years, but it never occurred to me to intentionally buy one that was a total pain in the ass. But there was an old BSA 500 back in about 1968 that did not wish me well. On a return trip from Dallas to C. Springs, it quit on me in Dumas, Texas ("Home of the Ding Dong Daddies"). With some local help I got it running again, but it died once more about two miles out of town. Having no other options left, I had to hitchhike - with the bike and all my gear - to Amarillo to find a decently equipped bike shop to work on it. Thank goodness for some good old boys in a pickup who helped me haul that thing 45 miles to where I could find a mechanic. There are some real good people in this state.
I dig it. Reminds me of an interview with the forever lovely Ann Margret about 20 years ago... "Not a question of if you fall but when". ok, she'd crashed, recovered and rode again. Every bike can kill you. why my 'mom' never let me buy one ;)
I test drove a Borget hope I spelled that correctly, but a Borget low blow and the seat position was awesome for a stretched, raked out monster motorcycle I mean but having a oil in frame design is genius making it possible to do away with the oil tank and I knew about all that but I didn’t truly understand until I was able to set in the seat and after taking a ride and realizing that a simple mod that made it possible just to have a lower center of gravity and a thousand percent more comfortable arrangement blowed my mind because with the air ride helping also I could just ride and soon as I got familiar with the bike the fact that it was a chopper and normally not being comfortable was my usual mindset but the set up on that bike made it as nice a ride as any cruiser I ever rode.

My mousetrap clutch on my '60 Panhead, was so stiff, Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, would of struggled to engage it? I purchased it at age 26. I kept for 7 1/2 years. Now that I'm 53... I can honestly tell you, my left arm will never recover. My '99 Road King, I purchased brand new. Riding is no longer an agonizing chore. (Panhead frame was from earlier straight leg ridged. Only shocks were those 2 little springs under my Gary Bang seat?)
Theres more to a chop then the neck rake, such as the stretch in the downtubes that frame has. You can leave the stock rake in the neck and just lengthen the down tubes and get a bit of rake from the new geometry.

My 2004 Ducati S4R has a dry clutch. The strength it takes to pull that clutch in is no joke. Just after 10 minutes of riding around stop and go traffic in town, my left hand becomes too painful to squeeze the clutch in, which makes me have to pull the clutch in.

Did you guys consider lubing the clutch cable? May help.
The blood from broken blisters will get in there and lubricate.
@Terry Melvin Yes. I once had a dry choke cable. It wouldn't move at all, thought the slider on the carb locked up but it was moving freely. Bit of oil, like new.
Yeah heard that cable squeaking.
It’s in my videos if you want to check it out.
you don't have to use clutch to up shift or down, only time you need clutch is when you stop and shifting into first gear
My 1st H-D was a 51 Pan (1986)chopped it and road road it to Sturgis(1989) 956 miles one way. I miss my hardtail days but we all get older/wiser.
Exactly how I feel about my classic cars. Anyone can get in their Prius worry free and know it’s going to get them home but every time I start my ride there’s a small part of me that knows something might not work and I might be performing road side surgery all night. Haha
LOL That's the best commentary I've ever heard while reviewing a bike! I want one just like that!
I grew up riding bikes like this, and I love it
Love It !! Got one close to it, 2" up with a 45 degree rake 21" front and 200mm rear. Wideglide front end @ 2 over stock. Big difference is the air ride seat.... stock SnS Evo. Very dependable....
Love the hilarious talk/taunts while riding the bike!! 😆
#3 a ridiculously strong ( like been single for 8+ months ) left hand.
Dude from srk that is the truest motorcycle video you've ever made those are the type of motorcycles I drove most of my motorcycling career that's what it's all about true ameraucana
Would this be a good first bike?
I had a 53 Harley hardtail chopped. Yea you arrived when it wanted you to get there. No springs front, rear or seat. I loved that ride.
The dude who bought it won't have any problems with that clutch. Big guy.
Yeah he ll be fine
Reminds me of my 81" Honda CB400 Cafe racer, everything on her shouts 40 years old, she hurts me all over everytime I ride her, but I love her more than anything....she's my baby
I have an 80 cm400 cafe/scavenger build I felt this😂
" the door to freedom and the door to dissapointment " 😂😂😂
First thing every one told me. Laid it over that night lol.
I test drove a Borget hope I spelled that correctly, but a Borget low blow and the seat position was awesome for a stretched, raked out monster motorcycle I mean but having a oil in frame design is genius making it possible to do away with the oil tank and I knew about all that but I didn’t truly understand until I was able to set in the seat and after taking a ride and realizing that a simple mod that made it possible just to have a lower center of gravity and a thousand percent more comfortable arrangement blowed my mind because with the air ride helping also I could just ride and soon as I got familiar with the bike the fact that it was a chopper and normally not being comfortable was my usual mindset but the set up on that bike made it as nice a ride as any cruiser I ever rode.
think it is more valuable than your selling price the guy who bought is a lucky one it is a good bike runs perfect
jim poeschmann motor worth more than 5k i got my rigid for 2k with a 9k dollar motor
Love this machine! Nothing better than somebody putting personality into a machine!
You really had me curious what the third thing that bike was gonna give you until you said "I dont know...that's for you to figure out."
That’s a chopper a chopper means it has the neck angel changed from a stock harley, a bomber the frames neck hasn’t been changed.
Theres more to a chop then the neck rake, such as the stretch in the downtubes that frame has. You can leave the stock rake in the neck and just lengthen the down tubes and get a bit of rake from the new geometry.
I'd it didn't start stock, it ain't a chop !
If
I thoroughly enjoyed you4 tongue-in-cheek review of riding this bad ass bike... I couldn’t turn it off. Really enjoying your vids... the Rune was interesting as well. Keep em coming!
You could have lubricated that clutch cable. I heard it crunch like frosted flakes. I bet it loosen a lot if you just did that.
Best bobber review I've ever watched.
Is that frame from Precision Frameworx in Calgary, Alberta?
Sr Cycles I've been watching you over the years you're coming into it boy. You are now an official motorcycle salesman. You know more than enough to sell play bikes dirt bikes Adventure bikes Cruisers baggers Asian motorcycles of all types Harley-Davidson and now Choppers that pop. Go for it boy you have earned it and I will vouch for that. May the gods of speed bless you. and I'm actually only speaking of one.
Tetanus and or dead.... I love the bike! I’m currently building a 73’ cb750 bobber
1 Hitter around here East Tennessee Craigslist and market place have a ton of whole bikes for cheap...
1 Hitter I’ve seen cbs 70s and 80s go for around 500 bucks around here. Keep an eye out!
I got an old ,920 Yamaha that I bobbed and modified. Love it. It's not hard tail though.
I'd change the clutch and rag the hell out it😎👍
decompression valves in the heads so it starts easy and not dragging on the starter and battery
Rode a rigid from mass to Florida in 22 hrs . Can’t beat them. But it’s not for anyone with back issues ...... like me now lol. This bike is righteous
That bike is as ridiculous as it is awesome. Perfect combination!
Man, I ride an 82 920 virago. Bobbed but some spring on the butt. I smile from ear to ear when I ride it. It gets looks.
3rd thing it gets you, left hand carpal tunnel.
Cable just needs oil.
cool, that'll get my left hand caught up to my right hand :P
Bigger lever grip
A manly clutch. And hidden gages. This bike is of legend.
A suicide shifter would make a totally badass death trap.
tetanus, the third thing is probably tetanus lol Nice bike though
KSnitram ya beat me to it!
What?
🤣
@@user-sp4nx4ho1i how do you get tetanus from a motorcycle
I met a married couple at Sturgis who rode two bobbers like this one but H/D stock engines. They would send their luggage ahead by Purolator and ride all day to catch it up. They must have been sixty and were just so cool about their 3 week holiday on wheels.
"It just so happens, that one of those places my bike isn't making it to.... is court." 10/10
I'm really happy 4 the guy who's getting this bike. I wish I was but I have two already.
Oh man you had me laughing this is my Harley 100 % thanks dude
What were the specs of this bike? Frame? Etc
Congrats.. on your bobber man..
F#!K 'n love it 😎
Feel like a bad ass every time you start it!!🤘
4/s... just awesome!!
My 2004 Ducati S4R has a dry clutch. The strength it takes to pull that clutch in is no joke. Just after 10 minutes of riding around stop and go traffic in town, my left hand becomes too painful to squeeze the clutch in, which makes me have to pull the clutch in.
Guy who made the first hardtail showing it to his buddy "Well Its like a Iron Head but it's now called an Iron BUTT" Cos trust me you'll need one !
Gotta love the solo springer seat, bobbed rear fender...and passenger pegs. Good luck, passenger haha.
I do love how unique it is though.
Re 10:56
(#3) Killed? (#4) An Uber or Lyft app on my phone?
What would be a good motorcycle to start out riding on?
A ninja 650
He felt that shit from the heart ❤️
reminds me of my 20s when i wouldnt listen to any of the older bikers in my life bc it wasnt cool. i hit my 30s and started listening to them lol and started really enjoying the scene and not the wrenches. ive also learned no matter what u will always work on your bike, unless u don't ride. i ride mine and ive got 90.000 on 1 and70,000 on the other. so thanks to my 20s and old harley i now know what to do in any situation
Early teens were silly... black/red/white silly. It probably cost, back in the day, 10 times the value it held... cool bar hopper, though... 🤘🏻💀⚡️
roymoderatto love your music man. thanks for playing Tulancingo in ‘18!
These videos are addictive.
Brags about his gloves .. dressed like a traffic cone .. lol ... ;-)
Gay
+Andrew dods- He's safe though. Don't knock him for that...
Yeah insurance says ya gotta do that. took a test ride , had to wear a vest that could be seen on the planet Mars.
Gay
Whenever I see another biker go buy dressed in full neon I never wave.
Get that safety shit outa here!
For all of the older Rigid riders.
Wait. Need to turn around. Dentures bounced out about a mile back lmao.
At 62yr I am starting a rigid bobber project.. Press on
"That bike is sooooo sick!" "That's why I want to ride!" 👍😜
Best bike i've seen on here in awhile. Thanks for sharing.
