I am a complete noob at tooling and have always wanted to get into it. This video was great! It gives me the confidence to continue working on it! Thanks!
This is awesome! I have a target quiver to make for a lady soon and this will be perfect to go with the rest of the setup I made her. I think I’m gonna have to steal this
Just did a test piece..turned out awesome. I used my flower center shader and the little radius on the end of tool doesn't even show up at all as long as you don't lean it back too much.
I have this pattern for a few years now, To even make it quicker and easier, I found a bevel with vertical lines, So its really a swivel knife and this vertical line beveler. thanks for your great content
You should make more projects videos I watch them while I am making leather stuff please I have great project videos ideas. iPad case, phone case, tv remote case, an arm Garuda for archery, a finger glove for archery, picture frame case , ect please
Thank you so much! I tried doing some on some scrap several weeks ago and it turned out ok, but this really adds some more depth to it. Can't wait to try this on a pistol case I'm working on. Thanks again!
I was hoping you would do a video on this. I have done it a few times and thought it looked pretty good until I saw it on some of your work. What you did looked so much better and now I see what I was missing. Thank you!
Hello Mr. Gonsales, I would be very grateful if you would put the templates for the saddles on sale. Many people want to learn the trade and we do not know how to make the saddle, since there is a lot of complexity and it does not come out the first time and many of us are inexperienced in the exact or correct measurements. what should i wear the frame 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I've been using this pattern for a while now but I used a hair blade instead of a lined pare shader. Next time I'll try my vertical lined pare shader. I like the look of yours. It can be very confusing on a larger scale. Lots of beveling in opposing directions. Thanks for all the tips and tricks.
Do you have any issues with the corners of the pattern lifting? I’ve been cutting my lines and not intersecting them and it seems to leave a much more sturdy and long lasting edge to all intersections
I'm new to leather tooling.. what an excellent video! Very clear explanation to doing a large basket weave. And I've done a knife holster and cell phone holster with great results thanks to this video!
I can see very well why people were giving you high praise as a magician at the Waco convention! Could you provide a link for the edge beveler that you used please? Leatherworking novice, so I am looking to get as much info as possible. Thank you much, and I will absolutely try this out as soon as I get my hands on a decent piece of marble!
I have a question for you…I have a basket stamp where the sides are diagonal instead of coming straight across horizontally, how is the best way to line them up to meet up properly?
Thanks for sharing this. I aspire to tool as good you do. One question if I may: Your first swivel knife you used.....I am not familiar with blades that are concave along the sides....Is there a reason for that and where does one acquire such a thing?
Cool pattern. Your ruler is a "scale". We were taught to never use your scale as a straight edge. We'd get chewed out by our crew bosses if caught. But that's for draftsman and engineers.

I’m no leather craftsman but daggone I can watch you work for hours. Thank you
I wondered how they did it. It’s simple but elegant. Very nice.
Very informative, Don. This is on my list to try out and your detailed instructions will be most helpful.

Just had a leather worker make a thick basket weave pattern on a belt for me and it turned out great
Just did a test piece..turned out awesome. I used my flower center shader and the little radius on the end of tool doesn't even show up at all as long as you don't lean it back too much.
Thank you for all that you do for persons like me.
1:35 that is called a scale. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice vintage Ray Hackbarth swivel knife and blade there fella!

I will have to try that

Thanks Don! I think I will use this on the back side of a round purse
Nice.... Thinking of trying this with a dop kit bag i'm about to start. I wonder if a lifting bevel would enhance this at all.
you make that look so easy, thanks for the great video
Thankyou for all your great videos, I learn so much from you. I'll be doing this on some of my note pad covers. Hope one day I'll be as good as you.
great and so thankfull for this tutorial. Just did a small piece on a phone holster.
This was pretty simple and I have seen other people do it, the process, look you did was a wow factor. Thank you for that.
Beautiful. Thankyou. You saved me the cost of a basket stamp and this looks so much better and more enjoyable 😊
Coincidentally, I noticed an actual basket this morning...thought that would be cool to replicate. Thanks again, Don, for your expertise!
First try on a basket weave design, turned out pretty good thanks to your videos
That looks amazing. Thanks for sharing. Great work.

Always love your videos. You never disappoint.
This is indeed a pretty eye-pleasing, yet simple pattern.
Thanks for sharing this helpful vid. Much appreciated. 🤝
This is cool looking I need a push beveler
Thank you!!!!! I'm so happy you made this video!!!
Awesome instructional video Don! Looks amazing!

Cool. You turn the piece a lot with the bevel, but keep it stationary with the shader?
I saw you posted a picture of this on Instagram and was hoping you would do a demo, Thank You!

Well because there is alot of complexity and each horse is different. Templates are not going to be much help in making a properly fitted saddle.
you do such great work. you make it look so effortless. another great video.
and the "gauge" is actually a scale. lol. thank you for the great content
an architect or engineers scale
@@Nafregamisrocanob yep. I use them daily. Now i use them for my geometric stamping. Lol
Good instrumentation thanks.
What size push beveler did you use and where did you get the large swivel knife blade
Great video Don
love this pattern going to try it
Thanks so much, just starting out and this helps a lot!

Are you using a steeper angled beveler? Also is there another name for the push beveler you’re using? Trying to find one of these.
Always good stuff.

Chulada de trabajo mi hermano
Looks awesome!✌🏻
Is it possible to do this on a wallet that has been made out of veg-tan leather that has already been dyed? Or do you have to use un-dyed veg-tan?
Great video thank you for the detailed explanation.
Im new, working with scrap leather. Id really like for my efforts to resemble your skill.
Good job
Could some one tellme were to find a vertical line pear shader like thd one used here?
Please...and thank you
Thanks Don!
Trabalho Maravilhoso! Parabéns!
I’m sure it’s a Barry king beveler but which one and size ?
Can you link where you get the leather? I know you say it but im not understanding :)
Great tip
Do you have a recommendation for dyeing this pattern?

increíble.!!! muchas gracias 👏👏👏
Great regards
For some reason this pattern always messes with my mind! 😂
Me too!!!!
Me three!
Me four!
Genial 🤩
Can you name the shader for me to find it?
👏
Oh my!!!!!
