I just finished making my first saddle and tried the arrow basket stamp for a couple of parts. Let’s just say I should have watched this video again first but I got it in the end.
Nice looking stamps When doing the second stamp design, after you get the angle figured, then take the dividers and create a faint line on upper mark, this allows the first row stays even. I really enjoy your content.
On the angled basket in your second demo, I make a center line like you did on the first one. Then I run the first angled row of baskets all the way up the center. I've found working from the center to the border provides a balance on both sides of the center line versus running from one side to the other. Easier to DO than EXPLAIN.
If you have any trick on crazy leg stamps for not getting the diagonal line where they meet up... I'll take it ^^ Love doing the arrowhead basketweave, one of my favorite, fast and easy !
Awesome work!!! Hey ive got a old belt that was my father in laws im trying to fix up for my son. In a couple spots where the decorative tooling is, that thinner part of the leather has broke/cracked. I think I can glue down add a backing on the belt to stabilize and hide that. Can you recommend what to use for backing and what kind of adhesive? Right now its just a solid piece of leather and I dont want to sew anything. Thanks for any advice you can offer!
Is the border stamp and the single rope basket weave stamp the same size (small). I want to make sure I order the right sizes. Love your work. Really appreciate your videos!
How wide are the edges outside your stamping, Don? 3/16, 3/8 inch? Nice looking pattern, I'll have to try that on my next belt / sling project...on the diagonal pattern, couldn't you run a 45° start line, to help?
Thank you Don, it's great !
Cheers from France 🇨🇵

I always enjoy tutorials.
Make sure the nails on your stabilizing are trimmed so you don't leave scratches or impressions on the leather if they come in contact.

Thanks for the extra content. Quality leather really makes a difference.
Great video! If you were going to buy those stamps, where could you get them?

Want to find the centre line; just check your dividers from both sides. No measurements necessary.
