Agreed since going to Camelot before knowing Gawain in Extra is a weird way to know the Knight of the Round Table. I don't hate him but I do hate fighting him with the grail buff for every other turn.
I think that a lot of the characterization in Fate GO is kind of inconsistent. In the show and the visual novels, you have characters who are consistently written both for serious scenes and the more comedic ones. In FGO, the characters are written one way for the main story and another way for the comedic side stories. I quite liked Gawain's character in the Camelot singularity and he felt like a really intimidating opponent whenever you saw him, but suddenly he's a horndog obsessed with boobs the moment he's your servant. Like, the moment you're done with the servant's main story, they're no longer the same person. It's really annoying
Basically yes, Gawain was always believed by the Knights to be the chosen heir and he even acted as such. Agravain, Gareth and Gaheris also didn't desire the throne so he was basically expected to be the next King.
It’s a interesting to notice that a lot a of Gawain’s more negative traits in the Fate series comes from Le morte d'Arthur which is essentially a King Arthur fanfiction.
@@kaylynnanson6231 English, Welsh and French some things from Sigurds legend Arthurian canon is as much a thing as one singular fate timeline is the absolute correct one
As someone who readied the original Tales of King Arthur, it amazes me how the author of Fates universe made Gawaines story more interesting but also, stick pretty close to the original story. The differences is mostly due to how Gawaine dies; he actual does pardon Lancelot in his death bed and only really regrets not being their to protect his king.
So... Excalibur - Artoria Excalibur Morgan - Artoria Alter Excaliber Gelatine - Gawain Excaliber Vivian - Artoria in a swimsuit Excaliber Image - Nameless How many more fricking Excalibers are they gonna squeeze in? I'm not even counting the MHX ones yet.
Actually Extra Gawain was kind of a dick. Maybe CCC was better, but in the first game he didn't stop insulting your servants. And the Camelot Singularity version was an alternate Gawain from the Lion King's timeline, meaning that the regular Gawain can't really be said to have done that stuff. One of the Interludes explain this is the reason that Chaldea doesn't hold the events of that singularity against the Round Table. The Knights being fully willing to take responsibility for their alternates actions despite not having done them themselves also helps matters, especially Tristain. And as for the wife thing, it's admittedly quite unlikely his wife would become a Heroic Spirit meaning she's for intents and purposes gone forever which is rather sad though completely unavoidable.
This is the reason I love Artoria she is such a flawed king. People call her the perfect king but she was far from perfect her action had lead to so many tragedies. She was fully aware that Gawain siblings were killed by Lancelot yet she decided to pardon him of his crimes not taking in account Gawain's feelings. She shaped Gawain's personality to that of a ideal knight but because of this he ignored her feelings only seeing a perfect king. Heck in CCC Gilgamesh pointed it out too him only to ignore it.
Gawain is the son of Morgan, which holds true in the Nasuverse, meaning he is Mordred’s brother as well. Gawain is part of the Lot/Orkney Brothers, which includes Agravain, the twins Gareth and Gaheris, and Mordred. Their mother is Morgan/Morgeuse, who is combined into one character in the Nasuverse.
Mordred was nurtured in Morgan's womb but she's is essentially Artoria's clone so there's not genetic inheritance from Morgan there. Although, Artoria and Morgan are half-sisters in the Nasuverse so Mordred's related to Morgan in that way.
So he is basically a weaker version of Escanor from "The 7 deadly sins"? Edit: Just reread the Arthurian lore. It's stated that they had similar powers

Can you do a tale of Mephistopheles? I find it interesting how in the London singularity he told mash something, like she won't be able to taste the satisfaction of betraying her master. He just seems "weird" and would be good if people learned about it
Gawain should have brought his green scarf when he fought King Hassan, cause you know, King Hassan likes to cut heads while Gawain's green scarf was made to prevent such things from happening.

@Dylan Kim Bedivere had consecutive nightmares just by interfering with Artoria(lancers)'s plan. I don't think Gawain, as most loyal of the round table, is even physically capable of betraying his lord a second time. Even if he did, he'd probably commit suicide afterwards out of guilt.
@Dylan Kim Im pretty sure one of Bedivere's nightmares was a flash-back of Artoria persuading him his worth as the most humane and understanding knight. Bedivere voiced the concerns of Britain's citizens and was arguably the most clever & composed of the knights(hence tactics and "calm and collected"). Besides, his worth has little to do with his devotion to the king; he certainly wasn't the most loyal, but he cared about the king as an individual more than any other knight(the thrice returning of Excalibur). Also Lancelot's loyalty during Camelot singularity was minimal. Not only did he secretly defy the king, he also commited treason by joining Chaldean ranks after his defeat. And don't even get me started on his other crimes: cheating with the lord's wife, never took care of Galahad and failing as a father until the quest for Holy Grail, killing 3 fellow knights of the round and escaping from Camelot afterwards instead of asking for penalties immediately. To sum up his end: He was judged too impure to obtain the grail in Arthurian legends despite his whole life being dedicated to it. By the way, knights carried their weapons with them most of the time, so "fully armed" isn't really... you know, surprising at all. Lancelot's escape in and of itself was disloyal. He could've held back the two while letting Guinevere escape by her own(yes, he is strong enough to do so), but the fallen knight's mind was too full with lust to think properly, causing him to murder the two knights instead. Lastly, being enraged by the deaths of your family members is perfectly normal. If anything, caring more about his lord's wife who had cheated on her husband more than Gawain's own two siblings would've been much more incomprehensible( i mean, that's kinda fishy, you know?)

A TH-camr (Red from Overly Sarcastic Productions) once commented that compared to other famous Knights of the Round Table, Gawain is pretty basic (besides the sun powers). I thought that would make for a good narrative where Gawain was always competing with Lancelot for recognition of Arthur and/or the knights. Lancelot is talented, Gawain works hard. Lancelot is popular, Gawain isn't. Lancelot does some pretty dishonorable things, Gawain tries to uphold his honor. Lancelot is a black knight, Gawain is a white knight. And yet their actions both lead to Arthur's downfall. A perfect foil don't you think?
Gawain was actually the most popular of Arthur's nephews. The stories that throw Gawain under the bus are the Lancelot stories, ussually created in a way where Lancelot is always right.

He and every member of the round table who sided with the Camelot singularity king Arthur should have all been turned into lab rats by chaldia when re summoned instead of them being welcomed with open arms after all that they have done.
I am actually an avid reader of Arthurian legends. And I found it very frustrating because of a petty reason why they fight for revenge and causes more bloodshed. I also found that in the story a shallow decision made by one person can change its own way of life. P.S. I want to punch the lights out of them and instill in their mind that decisions comes not only in heart, but also in mind... P.P.S: I HOPE DW WILL RELEASE THE REMAINING KNIGHTS IN LOSTBELT 6!! I WILL PATIENTLY WAIT FOR THEM!! And also thank you for the vid, Otaku Daikun!!! 😄
Her knights bieng honourable is questionable as they all did whatever she told them to even if the order was morally unethical, such as taking all the resources a village had.
The villages were dismantled, it's not like they killed the citizens themselves. It's called scorched earth tactics, the destruction of resources before an invading force takes posession of them. In actual real history both Britons and Saxons were known to use scorched earth tactics to stop invasions from the mainland. If a mainland invader can't find an area they can fortify and establish a base to further their occupation they would be forced to retreat back to their lands. This evades unnecesary battles thus saving resources and protecting the unnecesary deaths of their soldiers and their citizens. Personally I would have more issue with the infighting amongst the Kings of Britain and the members of the Round Table. Like King Lot's squirrely movements which ended in the deaths of Lamorak and Palamedes at the hands of Agravain, Mordred and Gawain. Or Tristan's and Dinadan's blatant hatred for King Mark, which led to King Mark's invasion of Londinium after Mordred and Arthur kill one another.
It's actually ironic when you think about the events of Fate/Zero. You have people (both inside the show and audiences) heavily criticizing Saber for how she acted during her rule. And yet both Gawain and Lancelot never blamed Artoria for what happened (and blamed themselves). It makes me wonder if the rest of the Knights of the Round Table feels the same.
Gawain seems so much more noble in Extra than he does in FGO. What do you think?

He and every member of the round table who sided with the Camelot singularity king Arthur should have all been turned into lab rats by chaldia when re summoned instead of them being welcomed with open arms after all that they have done.
Expessially Tristian
Gohans Left Arm “that is so sad”
It's test of royalty to the king. And that's camelot only.
Quetzalcoatl next pls
PRAISE THE SUN!!!
Her knights bieng honourable is questionable as they all did whatever she told them to even if the order was morally unethical, such as taking all the resources a village had.
It way fucked UP when he to not get dishonored. Gawain used a Princess head as a necklace all the way to Camelot
Wow Gawain is a loyal Knight to a fault. At least it proves how loyal he is despite how naive and blinded he gets at times.
I like how in fgo Aggravin slayed Lancelot. What irony
Darak Kriess Don't you mean the other way around?
OtakuDaiKun no Aggravin killed him in the camelot singularity with mad enhancement
@@darakkriess1030 Oh, I thought you were talking about in history. Camelot was way different obviously.
