I really love the fact that NOMI is only an option, since in Europe people rarely want to talk to their cars, let alone being constantly confronted with a robot that has a child’s voice. 😂
I would not want NOMI in the car either, but I would like the function to be there without it being visible, like Siri in iPhones!
(Edit) yes this is apparently what it’s like if you don’t opt for NOMI display on the dashboard, great!
Never tried it out, but from the videos I like Nomi and the animations on the little moving screen.
@@Besserwisser1900 that is possible. You just opt out from having the Nomi display. It's cheaper that way too ^^
@@stefanospap6288 Well that’s awesome! I think also just like Siri it will get better and better. Siri just as NOMI doesn’t work perfectly unless you pronounce and use correct commands , so I’m not surprised that some other older reviewers on TH-cam doesn’t like it.. my 60+ parents can’t use Siri either :)
Nomi is still there, it's just that the head can be opted out. So now you get a disembodied voice instead. 😱
Good to hear the front seats can go lower...people were complaining about the sedan seats being too high!!
Why are you not using Nomi to dim the roof or to switch modes? I tried German Nomi and she was quite capable.
Fragrance is easiest to find if you press the fan symbol in the middle of the center screen and then choos fragrance in the pop up box 😊
Nice overview. Our ET 5 Touring should arrive in the next weeks 🙂
How is it so far?
@@Mickyel We love this car. Beautiful, quality, comfort, super UI. That are the first words in my mind. One thing is not so good - the effenciency could really be better.
@@stevefivestring9383Thank you
One of the other beeps you are hearing is the alert when you are drifting in the lane or crossing lanes without indicating. You can also turn that one off
yo eric! HOOOLY SMOCHHHS
To get out of menus (like drive mode), do a full hand pinch gesture on the screen.
Bjørn. All the beeps are likely mandarory (EU rules). The new rules say cars need speed governors and attention warnings - the rules allow for you to turn them off but these things turn back on at every start - mandatory. EU rules must change.
After having ET5T (in China, we have this name badge instead of ET5 Touring) over 2 months, the drive mode really impressed me for a long time. But there are downsides since it is not a full size sedan base, happy to see if NIO could launch ET7 touring!
Great idea!
Apparently they updated software to include sports/rwd mode...I think they should go all out and do a sporty version to rival BMW M3 touring with sporty interior/seats maybe a spoiler and increased power (aim for best in class) for euro market!!. ET5T is already getting good response from euro reviewers!!
For the fragrance thing, perhaps you could just tell Nomi to turn it off.
exactly!
Tack!👍 really like the space sound when you go in sport+mode!😆
Thanks for the test Bjørn 😊👌 Could you please test the charging? Based on a Video from OutOffSpec Reviews the charging speed should have been increased with new SW + Battery to 187 kW ⚡️
I think Bjorn just revealed the vehicle's turbo potencial at 27:53
Thanks Bjorn! Seems these guys are going to be a success!
I test drove this car today and the message is clear: German automakers are facing serious competitive threats. This vehicle not only incorporates Tesla's state-of-the-art technology but also pairs it with the luxurious comfort that has been a hallmark of German engineering. The result is a car that outclasses its German competitors in key areas. I was highly impressed and for those who have the means, a test drive is strongly advised. The only drawback for me was the absence of a frunk and sub-trunk, but that's merely nitpicking...oh and the price is a bit too much for me.
I think this is my next car
@@bullshitbingo2259 different league in terms of price. The Nio is about the same as my V60 was new
Seriously the best, THE best EV for my needs. OMG, Thank you Bjorn for making this video and for your nitpicking. Everything which you've critisized I do not mind at all. From this video I have seen no negative points for myself. It is that amazing and I will definitely buy it, as soon as I have saved up enough money. :D Wow, well done NIO.
pretty funny section with the sport mode and the sound. Hammer mode engaged :D
Can you please do a charging test with the 100 kWh battery? I've heard that the new 100 kWh ones charge way faster- Thanks!
The window thing is the same in the normal et5.
How did you find the head rest? I notice you lean a little forwards in your videos. I found sitting back in the seat was uncomfortable after an hour. So waiting for the es6 to arrive for a test drive.
Finally a station wagon. (MG does not count) So sad that most new cars are SUVs. Better with luggage and room for the dog. Must also be better with a lower car for efficiency.
48:40 Germans also are not so familiar to zipping. They mostly are fans of velcro.
44,10 in the video!😂 "Screaming queen comes out"!🤣🤣 really funny video björn.👍
44:10
about charging:
with the new software the et5t get 180kw speed at 67% !!!
I test drove this the other day, very nice car. However, I was a bit concerned about the noise level in the drivers seat. I did a dB measurement and found it at around same level as Tesla Model Y, maybe a bit lower. I wish these tests included a dB test. I will re-test to verify.
I like Nomi
You are the best 😃
Can't you turn intelligent speed assist (beeping for speed) off? It's mandated by EU on every new car and it has to turn itself on every drive. So you should really be looking towards how easy it is to disable after every startup.
Hope you do the Xpeng G9 soon.
You could tie macros into turning off the speed limit warnings. For instance you could tie a macro to fastening the seat belt so that speed limit warnings automatically turn off when you buckle up.
Life hack of EU regulation!
@@alpiusjoakimHave you tried this? Tried something similar in ET5 but didn't figure out how before I had to return the car lol.
There is a shortcut on the left side of the main screen (a little speaker) press that and you can turn some warnings off
@@samlindfors Yeah, that's one way, but still a little annoying. An automation would be awesome. Gotta try this the next time I get my hands on a car
I don't think that's allowed by the EU. Has to be manual. @@OldschoolWarfare
Press both buttons on the steering wheel to go Super Saiyan...🤪
Björn, did they fix the OPD to do a full stop when you let go of the accelerator pedal in Banyan 2.0?
❤❤❤
This car is soooooo nice
always 18 degree 😄
What’s all that talk lately about Belgian roads? They’re crappy in Wallonia (the south) yes, but quite good in Flanders (the nord).
In my experience they are awful in north, always a noticeable drop in quality when crossing from the Netherlands or even France.
I am German and I love the sound effects 😂 Whats wrong with you?
You must be half Chinese and half German then.
@@bjornnylandlike you then?
26:02 What the hell is that guy doing
Did you just squeezed out a wet popcorn fart around 27:50 min?
dream car
They need to bring the price down a bit. 75k EUR for an ET5 is a bit pricier than a Tesla or some other models.
You passed a 60-sign, the car continued in 70 in auto-mode. Then there was another 60-sign at the same time you passed the "towing-truck", then it decreased the speed, was it the sign or was it the truck it slowed down for?
Great review. To bad it does not support adaptive regen /coasting. Love the design
Interesting car, love to see other type of cars than only SUVs, let's hope the Chinese brands will force the other brands to rethink the SUV heavy line ups and let's hope the politicians will regulate SUVs as strict as non-SUVs.
The funny part about the traffic jam is that the reason there is a traffic jam is because people merge at the last minute than merging 200-500-1000 meters in front of the actual road works. And the fact that people do not realize this is more hilarious than you shit talking people sitting in line correctly which were moving slowly but moving before you cut the line (Congrats on turning a let's all lose a little bit of time but keep moving into f you I got mine situation).
Car dependency brain rot is a very weird copium drug.
Am I right but it seems like it wasn't driving like an asian driver anymore (accelerating and slowing all the time)? Also no more ping ponging between the lines!!
Nio has to be the best EV car maker, after tesla.
Very underated but great value.
How much is it if you buy the battery?
90k nok for 75kwh 160k for 100kwh
You say the car feels like a German car. That's normal because they are designed in Munich. Designed in Germany and made in China.
NIO has a so-called development center in Germany to tune the suspension and modify the software for the European market, but its hardly a full-blown development center. The car is developed in China, engineered in China, rides on Chinese batteries, and runs on Chinese software. The Germans have little to do with it. Heck, the actual ET5 touring is styled by an American.
The software comes from Silicon Valley in California. Designe center is in Munich. Kris Tomasson is Vice President of Design (worked for BMW from 1992 to 1998). Andreas Nilsson is Design Director (previously worked at Volvo, Ford and Lincoln). Danilo Teobaldi is Chief European Vehicle Engineer.
@@dr.andersonsghost4315I don't think that's true. I was in a meeting with the interior design team yesterday, they were definitely in Germany. That said, there might be part of the teams in both China and Germany, I don't know.
@@masterzedric The car was styled by an American. He was interviewed last year as part of a promotional video. Of course, he heads an international team of designers to bring his vision to reality, and where that team is located is not important. The critical and non-superficial parts of an EV are its battery pack (in NIO's case, the swappable battery packs), electric motors, domain controllers, connectivity hardware, cockpit AI, self-driving hardware and software, etc. These hardcore engineering bits are (mostly) developed in China, with a major international software adaptation team located in Silicon Valley for security compliance purposes because NIO is looking to expand to North America. German input has been very small. To think otherwise is to be delusional, because in Germany the ecosystem for making EVs is very underdeveloped, as evidenced by German automakers' well-documented troubles in developing EVs, so much so that they are now having to rely on existing Chinese EV platforms to compete.
@@polinicasio The software does *NOT* come from California. The Californian development center mainly localize NIO's Chinese software for certain international markets so as to be more intuitive and, more importantly, compliant with certain security requirements. For example, California is where the communications/connectivity stack is audited and modified. NIO doesn't have to have a software development center in California, but given the current geopolitical climate and NIO's stated desire to expand into North America, the California location serves as an assurance/insurance.
Question why there is no Tesla model 3 Station Wagon
Americans dont like estates
because it's american, wagons are kinda foreign for them !
@@achaz_ this is potential EU market for 100 000 cars - but whatever, let's all get into the SUV🙂
@@nowizard5 XD
@@achaz_It's pretty foreign for the Chinese too, but they seem to be loving this one! It sells better than the sedan.
Has Nio managed to sort out the numb steering? I test drove an ET7 last winter, and it felt like I was using a video game controller. Now modern steerings do not feel that nice compared to the hydraulic one in my old Audi, but the Nio was a lot worse than the other cars I test drove (E-Tron GT, i4, TM3).
The steering wheel response changes according to the drive mode (Comfort, Sport, Eco...), did you try changing them? But also, the ET5T is an entirely different car from the ET7.
I kinda like this car but it has so many little but important things that makes it way worse than an i4
Please tell me what is missing from an i4
@@stigronnysuleskard5299 800V architecture
I could say the same, but the other way around. The i4 is a beautiful car and drives superbly, but it's a fossil platform. That makes it tiny on the inside, despite the hatch opening in the rear.
@@stigronnysuleskard5299Iconic sounds? 🤷🏻♂️
nahhh, looks like some cheap toy
Nah my friend NO
We should be aware of fact that lanes and road infrastructure need to be adapted and unificated to auto pilots, because it is not "binary" for this algorithms
