Just went to check the Bluetooth delay on my Model 3 2023 RWD because I never noticed any type of delay. Can confirm now that there is no delay in my car
Making us feel the pain and annoyance of the blue tooth delay you are experiencing by having us watch the last part of your video via the car audio was pure genius. Great video! I mean really great -- very well produced and super insightful and informative. I'm sorry you are dealing with this issue -- but thanks for warning the rest of us! Cheers!
@@adamrobertson7215 His phone is ancient and Apple screws their iPhone customers by installing old versions of Bluetooth on their iPhones. His iPhone has Bluetooth version 5.0, which is literally a dinosaur. My Samsung S22 Ultra, which was over 2.5 years old, had Bluetooth 5.2, and it worked great on my Model 3. I would bet Vegas money that his problem is an old iPhone that Apple installed a two-year-old Bluetooth version on when he bought it. Apple has a myriad of sneaky ways to screw their customers.
My first trip in my 2023 Model 3 Base I left with 266 range on a 192 mile trip mostly Interstate driving 65 to 70 mph. When I got to my destination I had 80 miles of range left so it looks like I could have gone 272 miles gaining 6 miles on the range. Temperature was 70 degrees fahrenheit
Just for everyone's convenience, I just bought a 2022 Model 3 RWD used a few months ago, and I have had zero Bluetooth connectivity issues with it. I connected two phones to it and both of them connected almost instantly to Bluetooth. I use Bluetooth almost every time I get in the car to listen to radio and music with no problems. It's possible that Tesla addressed this issue with a software update. It's also possible that Vidal's phone is the issue because it has Bluetooth Version 5.0 on it, which is a dinosaur - it is a very old, slow version of Bluetooth.
In the last 31 days I paid $90 to charge my car at home. My model 3 Rear Wheel Dr. is my main vehicle. We put a lot of miles on it. I have about 19,000 miles since March 2023.
I loved your comment “don’t look at the car wrong”. I have yet to get the claimed 270 miles of range from my 2023 RWD Model 3. I don’t care. It’s a non-issue for me as I no longer do road trips,I don’t have a commute and I charge at home. I had gotten it because I was expecting a 110 mile round trip commute. I dodged that bullet and continue to work remotely. My use case is optimal for LFP batteries and I highly recommend them for anyone who doesn’t need the extended range, they are very easy to live with, I just plug in my car once or twice a week, charging to 100% and never give it a second thought. Kudos on a great video with solid analysis and prefessional presentation.
If paid a year in advance the $8.25/month for premium connectivity is ridiculously cheap considering that companies like Mercedes-Benz charge $30-$40/month for nearly the same features. Even Kia Connect costs $149-$200/year for similar features.
Resetting my screen fixed the bluetooth delay for me, in my 2023 model Y Performance. I couldn't see myself getting any other car. The performance is just a blast. I charge once a week at a supercharger during off peak hours and I'm good.
The different battery types and preferring charge to 100% between long range and standard trims is very interesting, i haven't heard that from any other yourubers. thank for telling me about this
When I accepted delivery for my 2018 Model 3, they let me thoroughly inspect it inside and out. I spent about 30 minutes going through the car and found a *perfect* build. I was committed to refusing delivery if there was a single problem. But what I discovered later wasn't a bluetooth delay but instead it had a random intermittent cutting out of speakers. It sounds like the speakers go to mono quality and the subwoofer cuts out for about 2 seconds. It happens at least once with each drive. It's unrelated to bluetooth since I heard it do it even when it was playing Tesla Tutorials. Service center claims it's a known issue with the current software and are refusing to fix it. Now my car is well out of warranty and it's still not working to this day. The other issues I've had have been NVH issues (mostly creaking/moaning bushings, door strap noise, randomly cracked rear glass- everything covered under warranty. Overall the car has been good as far as reliability. I agree that the way Tesla treats its customers is lousy, but as the market loosens up over the next year they are going to soon recognize that it's not as easy to make a sale as it once was. They are going to have to address the topic of treating customers right because they will have to fight for every sale they make. "Don't worry, it's working like it should" won't be accepted by mainstream customers like it is by fanboys. I would definitely consider going outside the brand for my next car, but the Supercharger network really is what sold the car to begin with. Until all the competition has access to the Supercharger network, I don't think I could live with a non-Tesla unless I also bought a gas car.
nice take on the SR+. i went the used 2021 route , but didnt check the VIN properly and ended up getting the NMC battery. so mostly get around 180-200 miles on 80% charge. and yeah you are right at 100%, the range displayed was like 220-230miles. this base model is still plenty fun. TAC is all we need (maybe they should group auto-steer as well) video seems to be a non-issue for me. i dont sit in the car for long. if its charging, i am walking around , getting coffee or exploring the area around. i hope you are right. hopefully 400 miles 15 mins charge would do it for me. maybe i will get the AWD next time just so i dont get turned around by caltrans or higway patrol doesnt turn me around for not having tire chains. but i suppose its safer to not be driving in such weather in the first place anyways. the transition to EV though has been seamless. 2700 miles in like 4 weeks (took delivery during my staycation and loved exploring and discovering a new side of california!)
I didn’t have any Bluetooth problems with mine. I imagine it was fixed. But I watch TH-cam on the large car screen anyways when I’m just chilling in there.
FYI, Honda still to this day has a Bluetooth delay. You need to use the cable cord to get better sounding music. Music and AC is very thing to me. You created a great video.
To be honest, the Bluetooth issue has happened to me in all vehicles I’ve owned from BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. I figure it must be a normal thing with Bluetooth at this point. When ever I use a wired connection it works fine. I think that’s just the type of connection issue.
When I took a tesla for a test drive I asked about long range and they rep discouraged it because of the battery chemistry unless I am doing a lot of long range travel because the LR charging curve means even at 80% you can charge it quickly on long trips and have quicker stops, but 99% of my use is daily commutes or 100-200 drives. I ended up with a 2023 model y from chinese factory which came with ultrasonic sensors and I am pretty happy with it.
On the side note, it’s not just a great well prepared and balanced review, but for me this video is almost like a resume of a person that I would hire in a heartbeat. People like you are hard to find nowadays unfortunately. Good luck with you life and God Speed!
We had the same Bluetooth audio delay in our 2018 Prius Prime. I never found anything to do for it, and I never got clear as to the reason for it. We did not have the delay in our 2013 Prius II.
There is an inherent flaw in bluetooth technology. Most newer devices i.e. TV's, headphones have a latency feedback feature that helps sync the audio with the playback of video however it seems like Tesla does not. Likely since they want their premium monthly subscription to be used. It's a software that can be updated but they probably will ignore it until enough people complain about it. Best way to do that is leaving a public review so everyone can see it.
Oh and another way around this is to buy a USB or type C to radio transmitter. Then you can just set the radio station. I have used these for a long time and they work like a charm
The bluetooth isn't something that can be fixed by a service center. It seems quite common with modern bluetooth stacks though. For instance, my Pixel Buds Pro have the same latency issues. (Obviously offset when dealing with audio sources that can be delayed. ie video, music, audible, etc.) It seems like the issue is with supporting a low latency bluetooth codec. Is this an issue with how they source bluetooth hardware? Some may support low latency codecs and some don't? Not sure. But I can certainly understand your frustration. Manufacturers need to be made aware that his is important to consumers.
Right, imagine the service technician at that Tesla location “The fu k you want us to do about that???” It’s not a wheel or a panel we can just replace”
Nice video. The cars aren’t made the same way anymore. I had old Mazda 3 for 10 years and never had an issue with it. Switched to BMW 530e and PHEV battery started to die 6 months before end of the warranty. Was painful to deal with their service centre and my experience was similar to your. They ended up replacing half of the battery but the range never returned to what it should be. The car was 68k € new and new battery cost now 10k. They started ignoring me from that point and there is nothing else I can do without taking legal action which is not worth it after all. My point being: all dealership are just very good at selling the car but as soon as the user wants to get something repaired under warranty they turn into your enemies. I’d say all brands have their own quirks, just some people don’t seem to be bothered with stuff that others do and they keep leaving with those problems. What hurts most is when you think you spend decent amount of money to make the purchase and then you get treated like this. Avoid BMW’s
I dont think Ive noticed a bluetooth delay that bad in my 21 m3 sr+, but to be fair I usually just do music and transfer audio for all else to my phone due t how loud the difference from music to video is. I will not however pay for a years worth of premium connectivity again unless I find myself using the apple music app that much. Here lately I've just been using bluetooth due to the lack of "Shuffle all" feature on the list of all my songs (not playlists/albums). I did get one month of FSD just to try it out. I will miss it when its gone but its been lowkey a mini headache to make sure it doesnt hit anyone or anything which it has almost dont 10 or so times.
… you ain’t seen nothing yet, until you take your car in to the service center here in Salt Lake City :-( my model three was in 10 or 11 times for the same basic things… It’s a long story… Great video!
Hey Vidal, the Bluetooth issue isn't isolated to Tesla. While I haven't had an issue with playing audio, I've only done SiriusXM, I have had issue with delayed Bluetooth audio in both my 2012 Acura TL and 2023 Acura MDX. This is especially noticeable when I'm watching an Instagram video. Even worse, our 2022 MDX Qi wireless charging doesn't charge iPhones 12 and later due to the mag safe. Never had an issue with my XS but charging was so slow that using maps discharge faster than the charging being supplied. There have been times when my phone refuses to connect via Bluetooth in my TL, wireless CarPlay not connecting in the MDX, and I have experienced this issue (once) in my Tesla Model 3 (2023). I had to cycle the Bluetooth radio in each case to restore connectivity. So, I chalk it up to being an iOS issue. I would be curious to see if Android users experience this issue.
Great video. Touched on all the key points really well. I have this exact identical car, now with 7,000 miles. I never noticed the Bluetooth issue. I only supercharge as well, 40-60 minutes a week for a full charge does not impact my life at all. I love the tech, comfort, smooth driving, efficiency and style of this vehicle. Having never owned a car newer than 2006 prior to this, I suppose I am less picky. Overall very satisfied
Wind noise at speed coming from the driver's side, front & back, pretty excessive too. They kinda fixed it.. Never got 272 miles of range (M3 LFP), but has settled in with 263 fairly solid over 20K miles and 15 months ownership. Made a road-trip from CA to CO to CA last summer w/o problem.
I have a half a second bluetooth delay in my Tesla too. Not a big issue for me personally since I typically listen to the music and only use ear buds while waiting in the vehicle and watching videos.
Other comments mentioned recent OTA update addressed this issue. I decided to see if anything changed in my car. It seems like the issue is gone. I feel like there could be 10-20 millis delay still but it is hardly noticeable.
I had a 2017 model s and after about 3 months I shared all your regrets ..a 45k car with an 85k price tag. To your point I now have a bmw i4 and it's literally everything I hoped my Tesla would be, amazing car, luxury features, premium build quality etc, the only caveat is that the ccs network for road trips is pretty lame, but with all the nevi money Tesla is taking that likely won't be as much of an issue late 2024 and beyond.
Bluetooth delay isn’t worth the frustration. Just get the premium connectivity if you want to watch things in the car otherwise phone speakers are just fine if not a tablet. And if the speaker from your phone or tablet isn’t desirable, almost everyone has a pair of earbuds. And the fm transmitter that you mentioned could help as well. Just a lot of work arounds to let it get to you.
I know this dude is such a dork he thinks just because there is a Bluetooth delay it ruins the whole car experience and he doesn’t recommend it to anyone and the funny thing is several months ago Tesla released the software update, correct the issue I can’t recommend this guy’s TH-cam channel at all
Thank you for a very articulate and balanced video. I have been considering the RRdrive Tesla for all the reasons you cited. But now, I would hold off until I learn that the Bluetooth issues have been resolved with a software update. I agree that it's totally unacceptable to say something is "expected" when it's obviously broken; especially for a new car that's not cheap.
I’ve been lucky enough to charge my model 3 LR at home. I live in GA and GA power has something called super off peak where they only charge 1.8 cents per KW between 12-7am. In the last 31 days I’ve only spent $8 bucks to charge. I don’t plan to ever get another gas car
Battery degradation is inevitable, which is ONE of the reasons why I went with the performance. When my battery degrade to its worst, it will be around where the max range is for the Standard. So if u go with the standard, once ur battery degrades to its worst, your max range will be flirting with the high 100’s. Go with the Performance or Long Range folks, AWD is superior in every way, and ur max range will still be relatively high once ur battery degrades, especially if u go with the long range model.
The Bluetooth delay seems to be a normalcy with newer cars - 2018 mercedes C350e, 2020 E200, 2021 C200, bmw x3 2022. The forums say so too, but I don't understand why. Funny, there was no BT delay in my earlier 2013 Mercedes A Class A250 and A200. I compare it with my new cars and am dumbfounded - I was just as upset then as you are now 😅
Can’t you view media directly through the software on the car to get around this issue? Every car I’ve owned has had a delay when playing media through Bluetooth and many Bluetooth headphones do this as well. It’s always annoyed me but I’ve experienced this across multiple brands of phone and car so I just assumed that Bluetooth is shitty technology that needs to be replaced with something better but maybe I’ve just had terrible luck with it. I’m more surprised the loaner didn’t do it honestly.
I really enjoyed watching this video. It's obsious you spent time on this because the video edidting is superb. I specially enjoyed when you start to show the different angles of the cameras at 7:39. I can see cars coming from behind you on the left side and then showing on the other camera facing the front. Well done...
Bummer about the BT! That seems like something that could at least potentially be fixed with an OTA update... IF they would even recognize it as an issue in the first place!
I installed the hansshow version A cable and speaker/subwoofer set into my Model 3 SR 2020. It cost about 400 bucks and sounded great. The installation was a little bit of work but they have a kind of manual for it and there are one or two good videos on YT showing how to do it. The only thing that worried me was that I read about possible warranty issues related to the car. Also, I read from people you installed the cable adapter only, that the sound was not really satisfying because the additional speakers activated used the same power line as the originally installed speakers meaning that overall volume is decreased. With the active subwoofer of versoion A I didn't notice such an effect. Regarding the BT issue: @sealion234 mentioned that the issue was solved by a software update from Tesla. Since I sadly had to sell my Model 3 I can't find out on my own if that is true. If not, you could circumvent the problem by using your phone as a hotspot and then watch videos using the car's hardware. That would also give you the benefit of having a larger screen. I definitely agree with you, though, that Tesla's reaction to the issue is inappropriate. If the issue was solved by sw update recently I think this mostly redeems Tesla. I also think that Tesla should offer an option to have the Model 3 RWD with the premium audio system. The difference in sound quality is really noticable but should be no reason for having to buy the much pricier Model 3 LR or P.
Great video! I appreciate your in depth of explanations. You have a legitimate gripe with the Bluetooth issue and never wanting another Tesla. Not sure about other manufacturers undercutting them in the future though. Tesla’s first mover advantage and economies of scale will make it harder for others besides BYD to catch up.
If i didn't have a garage and the ability to run the wiring? i live in midwest so it's incredibly cheap. Like 5 to 7 cents per kwh lol. You're talking 5 bucks to "fill up" my car every night IF i drive a LOT. I don't think i could have that piece of mind relying on dc fastcharging but i live in more rural area like i said and my career is home based as a field service engineer. I rarely ever use em unless i drive over 225 miles. Mine is identical to yours. I have had mine 7 months and have LOVED this car. The range is def not 272 but in decent weather the way i drive? i can def do 250. I'm happy with that. My garage is my gas station too so love that. I got super lucky and haven't had a single issue with mine. Little squeak from the windows whenits below freezing but a tiny bit of armorall on the door jam? fixed. It's not really an "Issue"
My main gripe about pretty much every driver assist feature on current EVs is you can usually adjust following distance, but you can't adjust how efficiently it drives. I would really to see that, particularly in Tesla, as it would just come in an over-the-air update. I'd like a sliding scale of "eco-minded" acceleration when using autopilot or the adaptive cruise control. I like to drive to max out my range... AND I like to use autopilot or ACC, but they're basically never compatible unless you're the only car on the road or there is little traffic in your way. Same thing with the Bolt. For example, I don't want to follow super far away from the traffic in front of me, but when it is approaching another car on the freeway, I wish it would smoothly start slowing earlier; like add more elasticity and smoothness to the way it follows traffic, because nobody wants to be in the 7-car-lengths mode when traffic slows to a crawl. I also noticed, and I really have no idea why this is, that the Bolt will default to friction brakes much more quickly when using ACC for the same (or even at times less) amount of braking force, which obviously also kills efficiency.
You’re right. It’s the best car for the stop and go lifestyle. It takes the stress out of heavy traffic driving. I own a 2018 model 3 long range RWD. This is still the cheapest and most worry free new car I have purchased. With a commute from San Francisco to Sunnyvale, I have saved so much money. Before my Tesla, I spent 600 in gas per month.
I enjoyed watching your video. Very well done!! I watched it with a lot of interest because I have the exact same Tesla M3 RWD. What is your current range in miles at 100%? I'm at 269 miles at 100%. I charge mostly at home. My Tesla is 4 months old with 5,500 miles. Out of curiosity, I tried playing a TH-cam on my iPhone 12 using the Tesla sound system. I experienced no audio delays at all. I mean absolutely none. I am on Tesla's 2023.44.1 software release. Not sure if that makes a difference and I'm on the current release of iOS. I do use Bluetooth all the time for SiriusXM. Therefore, audio only. But after watching you TH-cam I decided to watch a TH-cam in the Tesla. Good Luck Very Vidal! 🙏
I experience the same issue with google nest screens. However with the Tesla you should be able to hotspot the car to the phone WIFI and use the integrated system to watch said video with no audio delay. I do understand that Bluetooth delay is horrible and should not be a thing with the new cars when the loaner did not show the issue.
2023 Chevy Bolt Ev owner here. There is a similar delay in bluetooth audio in my car. Even more of a delay when using android auto, which is what i use almost exclusively. When I stop to charge and want to watch a video, I just unpair it from my cars stereo. Not ideal, but doesnt ruin the car for me. And I know for a fact the Chevy dealer would laugh me out of the showroom if I asked them to fix it. As a matter of fact, they'd probably just try to sell me an oil change 😅 I am sorry that experience has soured the Tesla for you. But im glad it's working out otherwise. I would of bought your exact spec if they had lowered the price to what it is now back when I bought my Bolt. Oh well.
my 2021 Mazda CX-9 has the same bluetooth delay for video. Most cars actually do, so really that shouldn't shape your opinion lol. I think you try to enjoy all the wonderful things you do like about your car for your own happiness sake.
I prefer RWD since pretty much all American cars were historically like that. Too bad AWD is standard in several vehicles today. In my opinion, it should be an optional feature, since it would consume more fuel and not everybody wants that, especially when they live somewhere where it never snows.
So about 450 torque on tap and 3500 pounds. I bet she pulls pretty hard even for single motor rwd Does she get squirrelly on wide open throttle?(full power)
Great video, I am looking into buying an electric vehicle / I hate the look of the front of Model 3 (even the highland) and Y but that is a minor problem. The quality issue, and the service issue is now making me think that I will most likely not buy I tesla. I do not care about a supercharger...I use rental cars for road trips (I have used Tesla's and other vehicles). I wish we have serious option (Like these Chinese EV, NIO, XPeng or BYD)... In any case, Checking Bluetooth lag is added to my unconditional Checklist before any car delivery / Thanks again.
Sounds like the way Lexus treated me on a 2022 RX 350 with bad exhaust drone and vibration. After a couple of attempts to fix it with revised parts, which basically means the dealer agreed it was defective, they changed their tune and just told me that’s just the way they are. Most unrefined powertrain I’ve ever had in a car, on a brand that is supposedly very refined. Every time I drove the car it just pissed me off. So I dumped it for a Hyundai ioniq5, which I’m finding to be a lot more pleasant car. Too bad car companies don’t care about customer satisfaction anymore.
Funny thing is that even a model S & X and plaid versions too have the Bluetooth delay xD They want you to exclusively use the inbuilt Spotify/tidal or TH-cam using their paid connectivity 😢
The service techs cant do anything about the blutooth issue. Its probably a hardware limitation that the design engineers accepted, as it is intended for music. What do you want the service techs to do in their shop? Engineer a new system for you specifically? - But, it is a valid design issue. My '21 M3 has a slower infotainment computer, it's soo slow loading youtube. I just use my phone speakers... :(
great video- these petty issues you mention are what have kept me from buying one- rattling at 5 to 7 months? delay in bluetooth? appreciate your honesty- this company is irresponsible at best
But the long range should only be charged to 80% for the most part, where as the RWD can be charged to 100%. 80% of the long range capacity is 264 miles. ;-) Im still getting 270ish, but the nature of our commute keeps our watts per mile under 200. The long range models dont add up for us at all. They cost more and only provide a better sound system which neither of us care about. Great video. BTW we have 7000+ miles on our in 4 months, yeah our commute is long.
We just got a model y dual motor in the family. Have to charge the thing every other day. Definitely not getting anywhere near 300 miles like it proclaims on the screen. It's probably more around 200. Mostly city driving. I've seen a 6 mile round trip eat up 3% of the battery. on the highway, the mileage estimates are accurate. Good car. Powerful, quiet, smooth. A bit heavy. I do hope it stands the longevity test like some of the other cars in our fleet
I own a 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD which I bought used with over 77,000 miles on it. I have some suggestions for you that may help your Bluetooth issue: 1. I owned a Samsung S22 Ultra when I bought the car and have since replaced it with a Samsung S24 Ultra. I have not experienced any Bluetooth delays with either phone. I play music and radio from my phone all the time via Bluetooth and it connects nearly instantly with the car. It is possible that your phone may be the issue. This is easy to check by just borrowing a friend's phone for a couple of minutes to check if it improves the response time. I would try a couple of phones from friends just to make sure that the car is the problem. Major phone manufacturers have released Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.4 . Your Bluetooth version is 5.0, which is a very old version. It is quite possible that this is causing significant delays. Bluetooth 5.0 is significantly slower than the newer versions. I am betting that this is at least part of your problem. Make sure that the phones you borrow from your friends have updated Bluetooth versions in them. Also, if you have a friend with the same phone you have, check and see how his phone works in the car. 2. I pay the $99.00 a year for full connectivity. It is well worth the price. It is possible, but not probable it may help your Bluetooth connectivity issue. Even if it doesn't it provides you numerous other benefits for a reasonable cost. 3. On my 2022 Model 3 RWD, the wireless charging pads do not immediately connect to my S24 Ultra. Sometimes it takes the car a full 4-5 seconds for the wireless charging to connect to my phone, which is very slow compared to other wireless chargers I have used. Also, when I first put the phone on the wireless charger, sometimes it doesn't connect at all. I knew this was an issue that was fixed in the 2024 Model 3 update, and so it has not bothered me too much. If the phone doesn't connect, I just lift it up and reset it, and it connects. I bought a case with a Magsafe connector and that seemed to improve the connection. The Samsung S24 Ultra does not come with native Magsafe capability. 4. Another factor that could hurt your Bluetooth connectivity is if you have your phone in a case. Some cases can interfere with the Bluetooth signal. Make sure you try connecting your phone without the case to see if it improves. I do think that Tesla should have looked at this issue while your car was under warranty, and I am sorry that they did not treat you better than they did. I will say this, from Tesla's viewpoint, they are installing the same Bluetooth receivers in all of their cars and they are working for other people. This means that logically there are only two choices that could cause the problem you are dealing with: 1. Your phone's Bluetooth signal is weak or outdated, and that is causing a slow connection. I think that this is the most probable cause of your problem. 2. The Bluetooth module Tesla has installed in your car is defective. This is possible, but it is unlikely because it is working - your Bluetooth connection is working, but for some reason it is slow. I am guessing that the module, which is essentially a Bluetooth receiver, is embedded in the motherboard of the car and in order to change the module, Tesla would have to change the entire motherboard, which would be very expensive. Here is my final thought. It is possible that your Model 3 is not the problem. That does not excuse Tesla for not at least checking this issue to verify that the car was receiving the Bluetooth signal efficiently. But you do not mention if you have made any effort to check whether your phone is the issue. Just because your phone has Bluetooth on it doesn't mean that it is a current version. Apple is notorious for putting out its newest iPhones with old Bluetooth versions. It's one reason why I don't buy iPhones. Samsung's Galaxy phones always come with the latest WIFI and Bluetooth versions. For example, the Bluetooth version on my older phone, the Samsung S22 Ultra, was Bluetooth 5.2, and that phone was two and a half years old when I traded it in. So it sounds like Apple screwed you and installed an old version of Bluetooth on your phone to save a couple of bucks because Bluetooth 5.0 is ancient my friend. The very good news is that you might be able to just buy a newer phone and it will fix your problem. I hope that this helps you.
Thank you for the review, I'm planing to buy an EV and tesla model 3 RWD is my first choice. The thing I'm concerned about is their service center and flaws that they refuse to cover under waranty... I want to buy it, but I'm scared also
This guy makes amazing videos. So articulate. I no longer own my Model 3 or Model S, but still find these videos interesting. I am so happy to be back in a true luxury car with a supercharged V8. The EV era is over for me.
Fantastci video :) I intend to use my ordered model 3 same way and I was quite nervous that the standard range would not be enoug, but you assured me that I chose the right vehicle. Stay safe and thank you so much!
Just went to check the Bluetooth delay on my Model 3 2023 RWD because I never noticed any type of delay. Can confirm now that there is no delay in my car

I've had my model three rear wheel drive since March 2023 with 19,200 miles no problems whatsoever
The different battery types and preferring charge to 100% between long range and standard trims is very interesting, i haven't heard that from any other yourubers. thank for telling me about this
Same! Best comment right there!
I had this happen. Put in a service request. They did a software fix in mine and completely fixed the issue (no charge).
The bluetooth delay is a software issue. They fixed it in the Model Y recently, but I do still experience some of it in my Model 3.
nice take on the SR+. i went the used 2021 route , but didnt check the VIN properly and ended up getting the NMC battery. so mostly get around 180-200 miles on 80% charge. and yeah you are right at 100%, the range displayed was like 220-230miles. this base model is still plenty fun. TAC is all we need (maybe they should group auto-steer as well)
video seems to be a non-issue for me. i dont sit in the car for long. if its charging, i am walking around , getting coffee or exploring the area around.
i hope you are right. hopefully 400 miles 15 mins charge would do it for me. maybe i will get the AWD next time just so i dont get turned around by caltrans or higway patrol doesnt turn me around for not having tire chains. but i suppose its safer to not be driving in such weather in the first place anyways.
the transition to EV though has been seamless. 2700 miles in like 4 weeks (took delivery during my staycation and loved exploring and discovering a new side of california!)
I didn’t have any Bluetooth problems with mine. I imagine it was fixed. But I watch TH-cam on the large car screen anyways when I’m just chilling in there.
I like the way you are being so honest about everything. Thank you. This is the best review for this model on TH-cam. Helped me a lot. :)
FYI, Honda still to this day has a Bluetooth delay. You need to use the cable cord to get better sounding music. Music and AC is very thing to me. You created a great video.
What a great video. Well structured, creative, this was engaging, and I genuinely enjoyed watching. Look forward to watching more of your content.
I have the same issue in my BMW x3
When I took a tesla for a test drive I asked about long range and they rep discouraged it because of the battery chemistry unless I am doing a lot of long range travel because the LR charging curve means even at 80% you can charge it quickly on long trips and have quicker stops, but 99% of my use is daily commutes or 100-200 drives.
I ended up with a 2023 model y from chinese factory which came with ultrasonic sensors and I am pretty happy with it.
The stopping distance, adjust to your speed, the faster you go, the further to distance from the vehicle in front of you
Thanks for the range info. The bass when adjusted up is not bad on SR. The speakers on LR was overkill. I had to dial down the bass.
On the side note, it’s not just a great well prepared and balanced review, but for me this video is almost like a resume of a person that I would hire in a heartbeat.
People like you are hard to find nowadays unfortunately.
Good luck with you life and God Speed!
Tesla has now fixed the Bluetooth delay with a software update
Is this true ?
Can the OP please confirm this?
Just received the new 2024 model 3 standard range and it has the same issue, I will report it for sure
We had the same Bluetooth audio delay in our 2018 Prius Prime. I never found anything to do for it, and I never got clear as to the reason for it. We did not have the delay in our 2013 Prius II.
@@chuckhursch5374my 2014 prius has a Bluetooth delay.
Nice editing! The video really feels like you put lots of time and effort into it. I'm also a 2023 RWD Model 3 owner, no regrets here.
Great video taking delivery soon. Can’t wait to join the family. !!
Great point on killing time with smartphone scrolling while charging like everyone does at home or anywhere waiting.. so true
Great video. Valid points highlighted. Thank you. Just that Bluetooth part was a bit too stretched.
Hope you were able to get this Bluetooth delay fix. I would just put in another request if not I’m sure they have a patch by now.
… you ain’t seen nothing yet, until you take your car in to the service center here in Salt Lake City :-( my model three was in 10 or 11 times for the same basic things… It’s a long story…
Great video!
I would strongly recommend premium connectivity though if you are at super charger a lot. You tube etc on that giant screen is awesome
Not sure if it's an iOS issue. Vidal did say his loaner car connected very quickly and had virtually no delay. 🤔
I know this dude is such a dork he thinks just because there is a Bluetooth delay it ruins the whole car experience and he doesn’t recommend it to anyone and the funny thing is several months ago Tesla released the software update, correct the issue I can’t recommend this guy’s TH-cam channel at all
Chargin from 10-100 doesnt take more than an hour on a super charger station! Mine charges from 15-100 in like 34 min
Thank you for a very articulate and balanced video. I have been considering the RRdrive Tesla for all the reasons you cited. But now, I would hold off until I learn that the Bluetooth issues have been resolved with a software update. I agree that it's totally unacceptable to say something is "expected" when it's obviously broken; especially for a new car that's not cheap.
your waiting may have cost you $7500
*spring for the "premium" connectivity. It's worth it!
I compare it with my new cars and am dumbfounded - I was just as upset then as you are now 😅
I want the Long-Range only because it's the cheapest way to get AWD for those crappy winters...it's not always about the range you can use.
You covered many topics about a Tesla Model 3 purchase the are not often discussed. Thank you for sharing your perceptive on a model 3 ownership..
My 2017 Camry has the same Bluetooth delay, it's prevalent in many cars
It's great to not fall in love with a car. 👍
Another video to add to my possible purchase decision process.
Thank you!
I am tempted to buy of the M3 RWD from Hertz's inventory - some good deals but I am also worried that being an ex-rental, it would be fairly beat up!
Bummer about the BT! That seems like something that could at least potentially be fixed with an OTA update... IF they would even recognize it as an issue in the first place!
You can get accessory to activate all of your speakers. You’re still don’t have a sub but it sounds much better after installing the mod
Whats the accessory called?
Hansshow brand
Relying on supercharging sucks… in most cases it’s actually less economical than a hybrid due to costs.
My dad has had one for a year and has 50,000 mi but is very much still in the honeymoon phase.
You regurgitate the myth, for LFP batteries it's also detrimental to charge to 100%. Tesla recommends it because it has to
My main gripe about pretty much every driver assist feature on current EVs is you can usually adjust following distance, but you can't adjust how efficiently it drives. I also noticed, and I really have no idea why this is, that the Bolt will default to friction brakes much more quickly when using ACC for the same (or even at times less) amount of braking force, which obviously also kills efficiency.
same here my m3 2023 have 2 sec delays with BT via my iphone
Chill mode also saves your tires. My Model Y tires got 25k in Standard and 40k in Chill. Standard is too sensitive
I have a 2021 Model 3 with same delay - but have had several BMWs and they had the same so I have actually thought it to be Bluetooth in itself?
I experience the same issue with google nest screens. However with the Tesla you should be able to hotspot the car to the phone WIFI and use the integrated system to watch said video with no audio delay. I do understand that Bluetooth delay is horrible and should not be a thing with the new cars when the loaner did not show the issue.
I also own a 2023 model 3 RWD but I have no Bluetooth delay I just double checked and their mouths are matching the sound
As a matter of fact, they'd probably just try to sell me an oil change 😅
I am sorry that experience has soured the Tesla for you. But im glad it's working out otherwise. I would of bought your exact spec if they had lowered the price to what it is now back when I bought my Bolt. Oh well.
why would you play bluetooth music from your phone, when you have all the music apps on your TESLA.
my 2021 Mazda CX-9 has the same bluetooth delay for video.
Amazing video, the videography was amazing to watch, would love to see more content with your tesla!
So about 450 torque on tap and 3500 pounds. I bet she pulls pretty hard even for single motor rwd
Does she get squirrelly on wide open throttle?(full power)
I have a 2019 3 Lr no issues with phone or Bluetooth. New 15 pro I phone
That Bluetooth audio issue would also piss me off.
I’ve noticed it in other cars as well tho.
In any case, Checking Bluetooth lag is added to my unconditional Checklist before any car delivery / Thanks again.
you can diy upgrade the speakers in the car for real cheap just search it up
Sounds like the way Lexus treated me on a 2022 RX 350 with bad exhaust drone and vibration.
Funny thing is that even a model S & X and plaid versions too have the Bluetooth delay xD
They want you to exclusively use the inbuilt Spotify/tidal or TH-cam using their paid connectivity 😢
I get your point but if it is that annoying you can watch videos without using your car speakers
dude you are really good at making videos, and you have a nice speaking voice.
Tesla says more expensive models should only be charged to 80% which effectively takes away 20% of the mileage.
@@manz7860 they have their place as short distance commuter vehicles
I own a 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD which I bought used with over 77,000 miles on it. I have some suggestions for you that may help your Bluetooth issue:
This means that logically there are only two choices that could cause the problem you are dealing with:
What an awesome review ! Very in depth and honest.
I was thinking about the 80% of 333 miles and the 100% of 276. Waste of money getting long range if youre not supposed to use 100% charge
Can the premium audio system from a long range or performance model 3 be transplanted into a rwd model 3
I fixed the Bluetooth delay issue by hitting CTR ALT DELETE on the screen of my tesla.
Worked like a charm!
This video is awesome
Thank you for the review, I'm planing to buy an EV and tesla model 3 RWD is my first choice. The thing I'm concerned about is their service center and flaws that they refuse to cover under waranty... I want to buy it, but I'm scared also
Your air conditioning info. was great for me because I live in Barstow.
Excellent long term review!

Exactly! Great point
This guy makes amazing videos. So articulate. I no longer own my Model 3 or Model S, but still find these videos interesting. I am so happy to be back in a true luxury car with a supercharged V8. The EV era is over for me.
Nice video, thank you for the feedback...
I don’t think you’re giving Tesla enough credit for the efficiency of its HVAC system.
He did. Very specifically @4:00
Fantastci video :)
I intend to use my ordered model 3 same way and I was quite nervous that the standard range would not be enoug, but you assured me that I chose the right vehicle. Stay safe and thank you so much!
