The carpet - mega heavy - was placed in the sun-room by crane, then the windows were installed and finished. What a treat to see the original tiles uncovered! I remember hand-painted beams but the hand-painted ceilings and baccarat chandeliers are additions. Quality restoration and a blessing it was saved!

You have a good price range of homes on this channel, too many channels show off the outrageous priced homes that are so over the top that they seem unlivable unless you want to have parties everyday. So I learned that there used to be milk deposit doors, split heat systems, and phone rooms in old houses... Awesome stuff!! Hmmm, I wonder if it would be acceptable for me to build a beer deposit door at my house. :) BTW - loved the personal touch of the beach scene!

As a European, I often see US tributes to European inspired home but something always feels off and not quite right. Almost all of this house though, is really beautiful. I would say that the faux vintage mirrors in the bathrooms are a good example of what I mean by "not quite right", and the primary on-suite in general. Still, the house is lovely, huge and to be fair, $9m, doesn't seem bad at all!

I think the exterior could be commercially viable but several aspects of the interior I'm not sure functions at this price level. Apparently it's a rather expensive neighborhood which has to help the price but still. I think you'd need to redo the cathedral foyer, change the tile flooring, new door and maybe replace all windows and doors. Significantly redo several rooms, then it might fly as modern luxury. It looks like the auction starts at 4 million. I don't see people paying 9 but maybe 5-6. I wouldn't pay 6 but apparently it's an expensive neighborhood, despite most of the houses not being modernized. When you say you grew up on the beach, does that mean a beach front house? because those are very expensive now :)
This home is special for its rich history and classic details. If one wanted to modernize this home it would definitely cost a lot of money. I didn’t grow up right on the beach front. 😃
