Hey thank you soooo much for this tutorial, I started my own granny hexagon cardigan, was hating how the sleeves were sooo open from the front, thank God I fount ur video and fixed the sleeves by reducing , plus the way u explain is so clear and easy to understand, found ur tutorial to be really helpful, more power to you ❤
You do a superb job of explaining and showing exactly how to do this. I hope newbies have found using the tool/gear symbol to choose a slower speed might help them. I can't wait to do this! Off to find some yarn!
This is absolutely gorgeous and came just at the right time for me. I just started my first hexagon cardigan and needed instructions for the sleeves. Thank you 😊
Thank you for showing how to make the hexagon. I had seen another video for a hexagon sweater that just said to make a hexagon and only showed from there. I had no idea how to get started, how to make the hexagon that wouldn't just lie flat. Again thank you for showing it all.
first time making this and it’s so helpful i started a long time ago and stopped bc of school but now its summer and im starting to do it again and love the tutorial!!!
Very good tutorial for beginners thankyou for each and every detail you explained it very well thankyou so much ❤️ am gonna gift this to my sista 🎉🎉🎉 am excited to work on wish me good luck 😊😁😁😁
Hi, I'm not sure if you mentioned it and I maybe missed it but I was hoping to find out how to add LENGTH to the jumper please? I know that you showed how to add WIDTH but I would like it be longer than what you did, but otherwise your tutorial is very well explained and very clear to follow, so thank you for your great instructions. I think you have explained it the best that I have seen so far so liked the video which I don't do that often, very much appreciate all of your help! The colour blend of your yarn is very pretty too, great idea to use variegated yarn so you don't have to change colour or weave in so many ends!!
Hi, I actually have a tutorial on how to add length to a hexagon cardigan! You would add length in the same way you add width, just going around the bottom rather than going up and down the back! You would attach on at the bottom (the same way you attached to add width to the back) and crochet clusters around the bottom (kind of like you crocheted around the sleeve to make it longer)
Hi there, sorry to have to ask something again but am hoping you see this question. At about the 12 1/2 minute mark of the video you say that you have reached the measurement that you need, and then continue on to make four more sides before stopping to then show how to join the sleeves. I wanted to ask, what is the reason for doing those four sides first? I worked out that you are leaving the last two sides because they are what will become your sleeves, however I had worked out beforehand once I saw how the colours were forming for my hexagon, that I wanted it turned/folded a certain way, so where my working yarn sits currently, that will only allow me to crochet one side before it reaches the top where the corner is for joining the sleeve based on how I have it folded. I know you would have a reason for doing those four sides first so wanted to find out what that was, and also what will happen if I only crochet along one side, in order to keep it folded the way I like? I was thinking you did this to extend those sides by a bit but wasn't sure, so if you can let me know why those four sides need to get another row done on top of them before joining the sleeve together that would be really helpful, thanks! :)
Would there be a way to make just a normal pullover/sweatshirt collar instead of a v-neck collar with this method? I love the hexagon look but I'm not a huge fan of v-neck collars, I'm also concerned my head might not fit through with a different collar because of the way to make this.
Hi, I wanted to ask a follow up question to what I asked below, as I have been following your tutorial and it has been very easy to follow so thank you for that! I appreciated your response below but have been wondering, after seeing the video you mentioned showing how to lengthen a granny hexagon cardigan, is there a way do you think to add length by crocheting up and down rather than around the bottom? Every video I've seen does it the same way you did which I can see is probably the easiest way, however I don't like the rows going across making the stripes go across ways, so have been trying to work out if there's any way to do the rows in an up and down direction instead? If you have any suggestions on this I'd be extremely grateful! Thanks
Hi there, as I'm from Australia we have several Caron cakes but I can't seem to find the exact macchiato colour that you used, so just wanted to know exactly what type of cake it was called, such as Skinny cake, latte cake etc. I assume that the macchiato that you mentioned is the name of the colour way? If you could let me know that would be fantastic, and also where you got it from please? Thanks so much! :)
Hi! The type of cake is Caron Macchiato Cake in the color Serenity. I just checked the Caron website and unfortunately it looks like the macchiato cakes may have been discontinued after only being available for a few months
@@wcwildflowers Oh, that's such a shame, thanks for checking for me though and letting me know. :( I'm glad that you got to make something lovely out of the yarn though while it was still available, shame they didn't think it was popular enough to keep it going.
You definitely could! I would just space them out and not add very many (decrease slowly) so that you don't accidentally make it too small/uncomfortable! I would suggest starting with only a few decreases maybe 1 on the front, 1 on the back, 1 on either side and check the fit/make sure you like it between each row!
i’m running into an issue where the back pieces meet. it keeps folding up and making a little like horn on my lower back. not sure if you ran into this issue/how you correct?
Hmm, if your 2 pieces are perfectly lined up and it’s still folding this way then I would try blocking it! I use a steamer and lightly steam my garments and focus on the seams to help them lay flat when being worn!
It’s just the nature of the way most crochet items fit. In many knit garments (and some crochet ones too) they add short rows in the back to combat this, because the back needs to be a bit longer than the front or else the back will raise up like how you described.
When I'm making the sleeve, every time we restart the round, is it normal for the starting place to shift over to the right one each time? I placed a stitch marker where I began the rows of extending the sleeve and when I get back to the beginning to put the slip stitch, it's no longer directly above my stitch marker
As you continue adding length your sleeves will automatically widen with each row if you don't increase! If you want a larger bell sleeve you could definitely increase!
I've never made a hexagon cardi or pullover with triple crochet but I would think it should still work the same as double crochet (just look slightly different and work up faster)!
there are a lot of good videos showing magic loop, and many don't have 5 or more minutes of talking about themselves, first. Toni is a good teacher, but that yak drives me crazy. @@vickyhall1202

Hi Kayla,
Is this pattern written out anywhere? I’m someone who likes written instructions 😊
Many thanks!

Hii how many skeins did you use for this pullover ? I want to start making one but don’t know how many I’ll need !
I used 2 skeins for this one!
What is the brand for the yarn?
Do you have any tips/ instructions on how to turn the collared area into a hood?
I've seen Make And Do Crew I think they're called have a version of this. Also PassionKnit Kelsie has a tutorial as well.
Could I tighten the bottom a bit by using decreases or would that make it difficult to get the sweater on? I’m a very new beginner!
You definitely could! I would just space them out and not add very many (decrease slowly) so that you don't accidentally make it too small/uncomfortable! hiii, do you steam the finished hexagon?
Hi! I do steam the finished sweater!
i’m running into an issue where the back pieces meet. it keeps folding up and making a little like horn on my lower back. not sure if you ran into this issue/how you correct?
Hmm, if your 2 pieces are perfectly lined up and it’s still folding this way then I would try blocking it! I use a steamer and lightly steam my garments and focus on the seams to help them lay flat when being worn!

Thats normal, the beginning of these rows won't stay in the exact same place!
❤
So, to have Bell sleeves, I would increase every three, where you decreased?
As you continue adding length your sleeves will automatically widen with each row if you don't increase! If you want a larger bell sleeve you could definitely increase!
thank you!@@wcwildflowers
did you do 17 for the hexagon
Yes, but you can do as many or as few as you want so it fits you perfectly
@@wcwildflowers thank you.
I'm confused...at the very beginning you say to chain 3 but you only chain 2? Have I been chaining wrong this entire time?
noo you’re right! You SHOULD ch3 my mouth said the right thing and my hands did the wrong thing 😭
Approximately what size is this sweater? Small, medium? Thank you!
What happen if i do triple double crochet instead of double crochet? Is it okey or not? Because its getting weird about my granny cluster 😢
i’m not positive but i’m pretty sure that’s fine!
I've never made a hexagon cardi or pullover with triple crochet but I would think it should still work the same as double crochet (just look slightly different and work up faster)!
Tq 🥰
How much yarn did you use for this project? Thanks so much!
I used 2 skeins of the Caron Macchiato Cakes yarn! To make a size small pullover I use around 1600+ yards depending on how long I want it to be, etc.
what weight yarn do you use?
This is a weight 5 yarn! But I’ve used weight 2-5 for this pattern!
😊 subtitulos please ❤

Am I the only one who doesn’t get how to even start this?? The knot explanation is not helping me 😅
The magic ring can be kind of tricky at first! I swear once you get past that part it's so easy!!
try ch4, sl st into the first ch, then chain three
TL yarn crafts has a video showing how to easily make a magic ring. I couldn't do one until I found her's. It's much easier to understand.
