    Hey girl! Watching this as I lay here in my hospital bed after breast cancer surgery. All is fine, just a lot of pain as you can imagine, worst part tho is being super bored and I have to be here until tomorrow afternoon😝😅 Anyways, just wanted to say thank you for lifting my spirits with your awesome humour (which btw is totally me😂), and wouldn’t you know it, you have just made my absolute favorite design ever!!! I’d SO wear that!!😍👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Off to sleep now as they’ve just given me some more of that "good stuff"😵‍💫🥴🤣 Much Love from Oslo, Norway♥️

    Really really glad I watched this. I am making my first hexie cardigan right now for my 87yr old mom, and I'm totally going to only do one row on the outside for my join to match up. I did go acrylic and it's soft and lightweight. It will be perfect for her.

    Hello Michelle,
    I love the cardigan, and the colors are great. The colors takes me back, being a child of the 70's. Funny thing, I made a Hexagon cardi but in GREY, with cuffs 😉😄. Ha-ha! I did that same mistake at the beginning of mine too. You did a wonderful job and thank you for the video.

    I made one of these last week dark brown tan lightbrown. I added three big buttons on the bottom so you can close it and it looks way better. Yours is so pretty im tempted to make a new colorful one

  • @shellystrunk4010
    @shellystrunk4010 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love the colors you used! I made 2 of these last week. The second one I made smaller hexagons than recommended. I added a few rows to the back seam before joining. Then I lengthened the bottom and sleeves. This made the sleeves less full for a completely different fit!

      Hey about how much yarn did you use? I finally have started learning crochet later in life, and I find myself going 'ugh I don't want a bunch of extra yarn and I don't want to play yarn chicken' - I'm using up some old craft stash on a bag, but of course..... I do want new yarn for a new project haha ;)

  • @ImHappyToBeHereToo
    @ImHappyToBeHereToo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I went back and recounted and made sure I had six sides. I'm so glad I had six as this yarn doesn't like to frog, wool and acrylic blend.
    Great tutorial!

    I’m currently doing a hexagon cardigan too and I’ve done that same mistake 😂 I did undo it luckily I wasn’t too far into the cardigan. But I found another one where I only did two dc, it didn’t look as goofy as the 1dc did so I left that one.
    Loved the outcome, the colours look so good together

  • @lauren2971
    @lauren2971 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    So gorgeous I'm sure it's so soft with cotton it's going to wear beautifully! This color palette works so great as a cardi! There is math involved to make it cropped
    I've made so many of these already 🥰🥰 and have absolutely done the same missed corner step on the second sleeve!! I feel your pain 😭 the frogging pain 🐸
    The options are limitless! I made a traditional rainbow one...pastel rainbow...neon rainbow.....fall tones...and nearly every person in my life has one
    I also made single crochet squares and daisies as pockets...that hold nothing actually 😆

    I was in the middle of making my own hexagon sweater while I was watching this, but only doing one row of each color (aran, color, aran, another color, aran, another color, etc.). But while I was watching your video and how you ended up only doing one row of brown where you seamed the sleeves and the back together, I realized how awesome that looked, so I am frogging my sweater and starting again with two rows of each color because I know how awesome it will look.

    i love a good hexagon cardigan! when i made mine, i added some length to the side that will be the back so that it sits better on my shoulders. I love the colours you chose though, really fits your aesthetics

    Thank you for being REAL when it comes to crochet. Mistakes??? Grrrr. I have been crocheting for 50 years and have made plenty of them. And frogging? Grrrr. After decades I realized that most mistakes really aren't noticeable to others (unless they are experienced crocheters, of course) so I decided to embrace them and stop being a perfectionist. It was a real blessing in my life. Now, as long as they aren't too obvious or effect the pattern detrimentally I smile and move on. Usually an increase or decrease in a later spot can fix the damage. If not, well, hello frogging. And I get a silent kick out of seeing some item I have gifted knowing the secret of the boo boo and its location! Nefarious? Maybe. But the recipient of the gift never is the wiser! teehee And my life is so much better having broken out of perfectionism!
    PS: I saw another crafter who solved the huge sleeve issue by working a 3dc decrease in just the one corner space. It pulled the work together and made the sleeve much slimmer. You could still pop on a cuff but it no longer needed one. Happy crocheting! 🧶
    PPS: Those colors were the exact ones I used for the first afghan I ever crocheted. Told you I'd been at it for 50 years!💞

    THANK YOU!!!!!1 I've started crocheting this cardigan about 2 months ago and it was my own idea to make it oversized. Cus all tutorials I saw were about small, like skinny cardigans, and personally I didn't like it... I didn't have enough knowledge to finish it, to make cuffs by myself, so I delayed finishing to better times. And now I'm SOOOO glad to see that video with explanations... I think today I'll finish it, thankfully to you!

    We have had an eerily similar experience 😂 I'm almost done with the second panel and so far I have:
    Found several clusters that consist of 1, 2 and 4 dc's
    Worried my head off about having enough yarn on the first panel
    Found out at a similar point as you that my second panel was a pentagon because I'd forgotten a corner in the second or third row.
    Thanks for the heads up about thick stripes of colour when sewing together, I wouldn't have thought of that!

    I absolutely cannot watch anything while crafting that I want to pay attention to! So I always end up watching the same shows over and over. 😅I've been thinking about adding one of these to my list, but somehow could not wrap my brain around how they were meant to work. But I get it now! I also have to say that before you put the cuffs on, all I could think was that, if it was longer, it would make a fantastic 70s house coat, and I was feeling major Mrs. Roper vibes!

    Love this so much :)) I have a tip for you since I've made this before, work it up not worrying about the length of the sleeves just how long you want it to be at your waist, then cut it off and re start it at the sleeves basically doing the same thing but working in the round cause it's a circle sleeve, and making no corners so just 3dc, ch1, 3dc, ch1 until the sleeve is the length that you want, hope that makes sense if not let me know!

    Did you just create a new pattern ? Ladies? A Pentagon vs Hexagon. Would it not then make it slimmer thru the sleeves?
    What size hook, wt of yarn, how many skeins. How much would one have to pay to have it made? The cotton will be more breathable than acrylic. You got me out of bed with this project. I have scrolled thru twice. I really like your plating or ribbing. I would venture to start it a few inches from the corner (I do that when I apply binding to a quilt) It will give you wiggle room. If you drop a stitch you can pick it up. I thought why not take your yarn and crochet the stitches needed into that space(blocking it later)and burying the ends then carrying on with your rows. I have an Afghan in this colour scheme that my mom made for my new home in the 70's. I'll have to stop by again, love your optimism thank you and your followers for sharing 🎉.

    I’m about to make one of these for my husband. My only issue is the sleeves!! Big sleeves are cool for women but I don’t think it would look good for a man. Idk! I have to figure it out!
