I'm so glad yall are enjoying the tutorial. Make sure you grab the pattern first! You can get the paid PDF from TLYarnCrafts.com, or get a free copy here - yarn-love.myflodesk.com/hexagranny
I've sent for the free pdf last night, but I still have not received it in my email. I did look in my junk folder. I'm part of the hive community. Is the pattern available on that site?
I couldn’t understand how a granny square turned into the cardigan shape. When you folded the corners I just said, OHHHHHHHHH! So cool! Thanks for the great tutorial!
Ya gotta love social media. There are multiple tutorials on the hexagon sweater. All are basically the same with subtle differences. Yet, here I am watching T's video again because she's the easiest to follow. I promise to never cheat on you again girlfriend!!! Please forgive me🥰
I'm so glad I could help. There is always more to learn, that's why I love sharing on this channel. I just want to share all the things I've learned so far :-)
I love the detailed measurements! Hot tip though: if you know you’re going to lengthen the body, you can do some of it at the same time you’re widening the body. You can just do rounds over the 3 open sides after closing the arms but before attaching the two sides together. You can also join as you go to close the arms and attach the sides together instead of sewing; I do anything I can to avoid sewing! And leave the yarn attached when you “finish” one side so you can keep using it. You might end up on the body or the sleeve; either way, you can continue using the same yarn to continue the sleeve length or body widening/lengthening depending on where you end up.
Good tip. 👍 I like you I will do anything to avoid sewing up, from circular knitting to circular crochet! I will work out a different way to crochet a garment so that I can crochet pieces together instead of sewing any seams. I tell myself it’s so much neater and easier. 😅
Your eye for color is so good! I don't even have an interest in wearing a multicolor granny cardigan, but I saw your work and immediately thought maybe I like Granny square cardigans now! 😂
The absolute highlight of this instructional is when you considered left handed crocheters in the "lengthening the body" section! I already know to mentally flip instructions around but it was so nice to hear it, and know that I'm doing things right! Fantastic video ❤
I love watching many people make the same thing and seeing how many different ways there are to do things. From passionate Kelsie I learned how to avoid having to sew and going into the sleeves all at once. From you I learned about measurements and making something perfectly fit ❤
I really appreciate the pattern. The reason I have never made a hexagon cardigan in the past is for all the reasons you mentioned at the beginning of your video. I'm looking forward to making this. Thank you for all you do for the crochet community.
I never liked these cardigans because of the sleeves until I saw how you made yours 🙌 Thank you for sharing your hard work and creativity with us! I'm almost done with my first panel❤
I usually can not watch anyone actually crocheting… but you have a real talent with this tutorial part . Thank you so much. ( I have been crocheting for more than 40 years lol)
Made this in a day and a half with Caron Cakes yarn I had in my stash just because I liked the colours! So proud of myself 😅. I’ve never been a huge fan of granny squares but now I’m a convert. Thank you, Toni! ❤❤
I've probably literally looked at every pattern to the hexi cardies out there but this one is the very very best by a long shot. You are literally a life saver ! How you ask? I got off the merry go round I've been on for months. Most satisfactory and so doable. PS your ribbing is perfection just as cute as can be.
I've watched multiple videos for hexagon sweaters (and even purchased several patterns). This is the ONLY one that gives specific instructions for customization. Bravo. The style of the ribbing is new to me, and I'm excited ti try it.
Just happened upon your TH-cam tutorial today and l grabbed the free pattern, can't wait to get started on this beauty 😍 Thank you so much for sharing your design! I've got my hot brewed coffee with all the fixings, hook in hand and I chose the Berroco Summer Sesame, it is a delicious shade of blues 💙 It doesn't get better than this for me🥰 blessings to you!
Thank you for taking the time to work this out for us! I've wanted to make my own granny square cardigan, but Im not a fan of the poofy sleeves and the unfinished look of some I've seen. Yours are gorgeous.😊
I have wanted to make one of these for so long but the patterns always intimidate me. Thank for breaking it down into manageable bites so to speak. I actually started on it last night and cannot wait to finish!
So glad I found you! I was making the hexi cardi by following another crochet designer. Her instruction was great. Only problem is the sleeves are huge! I couldn't do anything with them to taper them. Then I found you. I am going to rip out what I have done. When I get to where the sleeves are a normal width, I will stop. At that point, I will follow your instruction for widening the front and extending the length of the sleeves and tapering, as well as the lemght of the cardi.. You have saved me from ripping out a lot of work. I had finished the 2 sides of the cardi but just could not live with the sleeves the way they were. Thank you for your common sense approach and your expertise!
I love your videos that go along with patterns. I’m not the best at interpreting written instruction but I thrive with your verbal instruction and video demonstrations! Thank you so much! Currently halfway through this project and I can’t wait to see it finished so I can wear it!!! Already thinking about making a second one!
I'm so excited that you made this video. I've loved the hexagon granny sweater but have never been able to make one that fits my plus size body. I am short and have small arms and they are always so big and ridiculous. I'm going to start making this asap.
SUPER INTERESTING!!! This is the same as the Baby Surprise Jacket in knitting from Elizabeth Zimmerman. It took me until the very end and looking at it to realize this. I’m not a crocheter-or not much, anyway-but I want to make a crochet cardigan. The crochet version is likely much easier to fit and customize than the knit version. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS TUTORIAL!!!
I really appreciate the detailed instructions on measurements and that this is actually customized to fit properly. I hate a weird body shape and I tried to make a cardigan like this and it came out awful, something that bothers me about crocheted clothes is a lot of patterns definitely cater to typical body shapes and sizes. I think I'll buy your pdf and give this cardigan another go! ❤
After taking your class, a swatch is absolutely necessary! I crochet too tight most the time and I like the idea of sizing up hooks to get the right feel and look!❤
Never dreamed i could tackle crochet garments. Your tutorials are wonderful! I can see your stitches, and your directions are so easy to understand. I can see this WIP happening in my near future! 🔮 Much love from Southwestern Illinois ❤🤗🔆
Been watching you off and on because I quilt, sew, craft, junk journal and addicted to English paper piecing (EPP). I want to add crochet to my smaller quilts and decided its time to learn to crochet thanks to your wonderful disposition I'm gonna do it!😂😊
I like short sleeve sweaters so when the sleeve reached my desired circumference, I started working back and forth across the body portion of the hexagon until it was equivalent to one side of a cardigan that fits me well. I may add some to the bottom and some edging, but I plan to join the two sides to make a pullover rather than a cardigan. I love sweater sleeves that end just above my elbow. I am also using solid double crochet throughout to make a less open fabric.
Ive made a hexi cardigan and like you i found the sleeves way to large, the finished garment seemed more like a kimono. Excited to see your modifications.
Oh, let me just tell you that you are so gorgeous!! I don't know if I'll try to make such a cardigan (I'm russian and some things on your explanations are hard for me to understand) but I simply admire the entire image of you - the cardigan, the hair, the voice and the shape of your glasses! You inspire me to find my own style and looks! Let's customise ourselves, girls! 😂
I love that your mini version looks like you're making Pepper a little cardigan. 😄 I like the new transition screens! Could you maybe stay on that screen for a second before continuing though? I was listening but not watching so when I would hear the typewriter sound I'd look up to see what was coming next but by the time I looked the transition screen was gone. I've been struggling with depression today and I have to say, your sunny personality and some good ol'crochet love has made my day so much better. Thanks, Toni!
Thank you Miss Toni! I do love a hexacardi sweater and your measurements are gonna help me to get a perfect fit. So excited to add at least a half dozen to my closet! (Hubby just shuddered a little....)
i have a hexagon granny cardigan i was working on but made the sleeve wayyy to large. i’ve been to discouraged and reluctant to frog and redo the sleeves to finish the cardigan. now imma finish that cardigan. love your content!
Hey girl, I have been following you ever since you started teaching us Tunisian crochet. I always wanted to do a long hexagon cardigan, but I was afraid 😨 but, when I saw this episode, I just dove right in, I am so happy that I did thanks again for your encouragement ❤️. I just finished, and I will share it on Instagram, and I will tag you in it.
You are great. I have started on this hexagon crochet cardigan. Hope i am able to finish it soon.thanks a lot for the tips and tutorial. Found it very very helpful. Till now i was just watching tese videos but after seeing your tutorial i was confident enough to start one. So here i go.
Crocheting a cardigan is on my bucket list! I do lots of baby blankets, afghans, and even doilies, but I'm intimidated by clothing. This is great! I'm a new subscriber and just started my own channel. My goal is to be able to make a sweater that I can share on my channel.
I have made 2 of these cardigans and now that I watched your video and got your pattern I am anxious to start a third. Thank you so much really. I love your channel and your mom!
TL I have made so many Hexis and they never fit me! I will try yours and hope my cardi will fit me goofy body! I love your heart shaped glasses! Thanks for inspiring me to dive in another wearable❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve never heard of the half double slip stitch, but that effect is gorgeous! I like it better than the sc blo I normally do for ribbing. I always do ribbing on the sleeve cuffs too.
I am 75 years old and this is the first time I have ever watched one of your videos. I have only been crocheting for a few years and I’m pretty much baby, blanket, Afghan, or shower material. I think you just a doll with a bubbly personality, but for me, you really go fast I’m not even going to finish watching this video on the sweater because I just know I would never be able to make that. I also find it hard to believe in one of the comments. The lady said she made this of the day and a half. I am definitely going to watch some of your other videos and maybe I will find some thing that I think I could make. You are an amazing ProShare thank you honey.
You can do it. Pause the video, complete her steps, then continue to follow her instructions. I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and find myself having to pause and repeat parts of videos. Where there’s a will, there is a way. Let’s get it done. I ❤ anything granny squares.
Another thing you can do is adjust the playback speed in the settings for the video. As for making it in a day and a half, some people are just fast crocheters. If I can finish this in a month, I'll be happy.
This is not done in real time its just instructional as you can see she did a smaller sample. I downloaded the video and the pattern and between watching and the pattern you will get it. It takes a very experienced or and both someone exceptionally talented to do so quickly. Please don't give up I too am a Newby and I have just spent the whole day just doing the measurements , printing the pattern and switched a granny square lol. Really is helpful to do swatch as I am using DK did a granny square with a 5mm and it was too loose, so redid with a 4.5 mm and is better, although I feel that I could go down to a 4 as my hopes feel to big 😢. I'll try another swatch (only using dk as the colours are bright for my granddaughter) I woukd be happy with a no 4 worsted/aran weight and a 5 to 6mm hook. Will definitely do for my next one. Good luck and I hope you don't give up x
This video is for Crocheter who already know the basics. All you need to do is pause when she pauses and continue to the end of the row and join in. I’m 91 years old and I enjoy and appreciate these videos to help improve my skills.
Extra tip for anyone: Once you’ve connected the sleeve, you can add width and (if you want) length at the same time by working on the three remaining sides all at once.
Thanks so much for this! I love the idea of a hex cardi, but the way my body is built (wide and short-waisted) makes it really hard to make a modular construction fit well. I gave up on my modified Campfire Cardigan from the Make and Do Crew after I had to frog it 3! times, and figured it was just not meant to be. Your tutorial makes me want to try again. Happy days!
The thing that has put me off this cardigan is the baggy sleeves. I am going to do your personalised measurements and give this a go! Many thanks!!! ❤️
A thought for you ... when I join a new yarn onto any project: insert hook into desired space, yarn over with the short tail and pull through, drop the tail and continue with the working yarn. This 'locks' the tail and prevents that first loop easing out of tension. Love your work Toni. Enjoy 😊
I really struggle with reading crochet patterns so this video & pattern combo is the perfect opportunity for me to improve! So excited to make this cardigan! ❤
A member of my crochet group gave me a skein of Berroco Wizard in Beryl. I immediately fell in love with it, so soft and squishy. I was expensive but I purchased more from a local shop that carries it, but I got more from Little Knits because it's on sale. Cheers!
For the dimensions section: thank you so much for keeping the bust measurement gender neutral! It's super easy for folks to say things like "use your bra measurement as a guide" or "over breast tissue" or whatever, but saying "over your chest" is perfect!! I also appreciate the note that the widest part might not be the traditional bust measurement. Making that measurement flexible/adaptable is such a cool way to keep it body inclusive!!
, I must say first of all thank you Tony you are amazing all your little twists really help or will help as I'm just watching it for 1st time. Very in depth you covered it all! I've made 3 but the only thing seamed is sleeves and no added length so I've got a long way to go but with your added attention they will be lovely& hopefully it won't be as difficult as I make it ….…
First things first. I'm sorry for the length. If you have time, maybe have A. I. Read it to you?!? Or read if you have time. We are Geminis. I love meeting other Geminis. I saw your cardi on the Chevrells podcast. I'm in love. I bought a shaping drying board with pegs and a zillion holes. It's very excellent. It helps to make your squares the same size and consistent; it's lovely. It is big enough to do several at once, plus you can stick them. I fashion spacers from plastic tubing to keep them separated. It works well. Anyway, I am a space case, so please forgive me. Tanis has a fabulous crochet and knitted cardi. It's adorable. This upcoming year, I plan to work from stash. Eight want a year of no yarn buying, plus it's a year of cardigans and working from stash. Perfect for all my lovely extras and minis. Thanks for the tutorial. I subscribed. I'm picking crochet back up. I started Tanis Fiber Arts cardi, a crocheted and knitted cardi. Follow. It's Adorable if you haven't seen it. Plus, I am dying to make this other one long and called something like a boho style and a muddy length. You are fun. I'm going to enjoy watching your videos. Chevyrell always entertaining people. I've started to watch her because she is versatile and has a lot of fun. Videos to find and follow, love her. If you want the long boho cardi request link in a return comment, I'll happily see it. It is in my Que, but that's a nightmare, lol😂 Thanks for the tutorial. 🧶✌️👍 Different subject. I have to ask you. How do your curls look so soft? They are scrumptious. I have naturally curly hair. But getting it soft-looking only happens after I bush it, and then I have saved, not curls. I'm a Jewish girl, and many of us have textured hair, but I know it's not the same as your hair. I used to be a hairdresser eons ago. When I was still going to high school. I got my cosmetology license when I was eighteen. A long time ago. It has served me well because I've fallen back on those skills at different times in my life; I also did acrylic porcelain back in the day and nails a long time ago. But I have always done my friends and family's hair. So in school and in a Job you work with every type of customer. Back in my 70s, when afros were big, I had many African American customers. They loved my ability to know their hair or nails would be beautiful even if a white girl did them. Is your hair layered? It looks like it. When my hair is layered, I get stacked curls like yours but struggle with soft curls. I'm jealous in an excellent way. I'm so happy Chevy recommends podcasters; meeting you and everyone else, she leads me to is always fun and exciting. I'll be coming back. O.M.G., You have so much to follow and admire. Goodness. I'm so impressed. I think I can not find the steamer. I am overwhelmed by your talent. I started to follow you on a ton of places. I may join some of them too. But it all makes sense. You are a Gemini. I, too, am a crazy multicrafutual Gemini with a mind that does a lot. I am interested in a lot, and now I know why I adore you. My B-day is June 10th. But I'm an old lady compared to you. 😂🧶✌️👍🫶👍👍👍👍👍👍🤪😎
I'm so glad yall are enjoying the tutorial. Make sure you grab the pattern first! You can get the paid PDF from TLYarnCrafts.com, or get a free copy here - yarn-love.myflodesk.com/hexagranny
Thank you
I'm in the process of lengthening my cardi right now :) it'sy first but I love it already :)
When I used the link to get the free pdf, it sent me a pattern for a headband, not the cardigan
I've sent for the free pdf last night, but I still have not received it in my email. I did look in my junk folder. I'm part of the hive community. Is the pattern available on that site?
Thank you Toni 🫶🏽
I couldn’t understand how a granny square turned into the cardigan shape. When you folded the corners I just said, OHHHHHHHHH! So cool! Thanks for the great tutorial!

I did a google search. Seeing TL yarn crafts was the obvious choice. Love her videos ❤️
Ive been crocheting for 20 years but never considered blocking. Finding you has helped me become a better crocheter. 🤗🤗🥰
I'm so glad I could help. There is always more to learn, that's why I love sharing on this channel. I just want to share all the things I've learned so far :-)
Blocking is like ironing when quilting....it just make everything nicer.
I'm 70 and recently learned to block. It's a game changer!
Thank you! Can’t wait to finish some projects and try this!! Your video is AWESOME!👏
Neither had I, but I finally bought a set of blocking mats and it makes the world of difference!
I could cry, that was the best start of a “magic circle” that I’ve EVER SEEN
I love the detailed measurements! Hot tip though: if you know you’re going to lengthen the body, you can do some of it at the same time you’re widening the body. You can just do rounds over the 3 open sides after closing the arms but before attaching the two sides together. You might end up on the body or the sleeve; either way, you can continue using the same yarn to continue the sleeve length or body widening/lengthening depending on where you end up.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
It's so much easier to tweak as you go with a great tutorial like this one!
Good tip. 👍 I like you I will do anything to avoid sewing up, from circular knitting to circular crochet! I will work out a different way to crochet a garment so that I can crochet pieces together instead of sewing any seams. I tell myself it’s so much neater and easier. 😅
You are the absolute BEST at crochet tutorials. Clear. Concise. Pattern tips. Pure perfection. Thank you!!!
Your eye for color is so good! I don't even have an interest in wearing a multicolor granny cardigan, but I saw your work and immediately thought maybe I like Granny square cardigans now! 😂
The colors. The COLORS. The one you’re wearing at the beginning. The one in the back!!!!!! Oh my gooossshhhh those colors are heavenly
I know that’s what made me click but No links to the yarn or brand/color name in video. She kind of said something but I couldn’t make it out. 😢
Dying to know the yarn too!

I really appreciate the pattern. The reason I have never made a hexagon cardigan in the past is for all the reasons you mentioned at the beginning of your video. I'm looking forward to making this. Thank you for all you do for the crochet community.
I hope it works well for you! Glad I could help solve some of those issues :-)
OMG! 😮 I have never seen the magic ring done like that at the beginning. It's so easy the way you do it. Thank you! 🙏🏻
I was just thinking the same thing! It blew my mind!
@@austinannknust6739 The video was worth watching for that alone 😊
The magic ring is basically a slipknot, I assume most of us use this every time we start a project, I wish more people would just say it's a slipknot.
I never liked these cardigans because of the sleeves until I saw how you made yours 🙌 Thank you for sharing your hard work and creativity with us! I'm almost done with my first panel❤

Thank you. With your gauge tests. You're lasting advice with trying different hook sizes is most appreciated.
happy to help! it's a lesson I had to learn the very hard way, so I hope you can avoid that, lol

and thank YOU for the support. I love doing this work and am happy you can enjoy it too :-)
Great tutorial...all the things that I was worried about ( the sleeves, the enlargement of the back) you cleared up. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to work this out for us! I've wanted to make my own granny square cardigan, but Im not a fan of the poofy sleeves and the unfinished look of some I've seen. Yours are gorgeous.😊
Could you beeee any cuter? What a ray of pure sunshine you are. Thank you for sharing your energy.
Your tone and how you explain things really gives me the confidence to do this project!
Thank you for sharing your techniques to getting a perfect fit! Berroco Sesame is my favorite yarn so far.
Such an informative tutorial! Now at last I understand how the sleeve folds. Brilliant magic!
I can't wait to make this now. You've made it so much more cute and wearable than the clunky ones i've seen. Thanks Toni!
That's honestly the best examples of how and why to use a swatch... Wish I had seen it 30 yrs ago 😂💪🙏 Ok back to the video 🤣
lol same! swatching and blocking are two techniques I had to learn the very hard way
I have wanted to make one of these for so long but the patterns always intimidate me. Thank for breaking it down into manageable bites so to speak. I actually started on it last night and cannot wait to finish!

Thanks Toni for a great tutorial.i have made these for toddlers.its time I made one for myself.great tutorial.🍀🍀happy crocheting from Ireland.💝💝
Ugh I love!! You come up with the prettiest color combos
Love, love, love! And, I always love your color choices... encourages me to think out of the box with color choices.
That is such a beautiful pair of sweaters. I'm usually q knitter, but this is something I want to try.

You are amazing! Thank you so much. I have been looking forward to making a hexagon cardigan for years. I hope you have a blessed week.
Thank you for the pattern Toni! I was inspired by your sample to make a child’s size Hexagranny for donation and it turned out super cute ❤
I watch the whole video and I’m going to make You’re beautiful Hexi cardigan! LOVE it. Thank you Toni. 🥰

I got my PDF and have printed it! Thank you so much! I am so looking forward to this!!❤🎉
So excited bought the pattern . You have taught me so much and mom taught me how to answer questions a fan always!! God Bless
Your cardigan is so beautiful and the colours are amazing! I never manage to put together colours that actually look good.

I always wanted to do a long hexagon cardigan, but I was afraid 😨 but, when I saw this episode, I just dove right in, I am so happy that I did thanks again for your encouragement ❤️. I just finished, and I will share it on Instagram, and I will tag you in it.
Thanks for the tip on making a swatch. I'm learning new stitches, and a swatch would have come in handy.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Instructions are so clear and helpful. ❤😊
What a great tutorial Toni, thank you. So thorough and clear instruction.
I enjoyed watching this tutorial so much can't wait to get started
I love love love this cardigan! My daughter has been begging me to crochet one for her.
It looks so cute! I love the yarn
I’ve never heard of the half double slip stitch, but that effect is gorgeous! I like it better than the sc blo I normally do for ribbing. I always do ribbing on the sleeve cuffs too.
The magic ring !! Ty started my cardi tonight can’t wait to finish.. using some scrap yarn 🧶 ❤
You can slow the video down by hitting the settings (gear button or three dots) and hitting "speed" and adjusting to maybe .5x speed or so.
I'm working on a different project and remembered I liked how you did the ribbing on this project so I had to come back and watch it again.
You are such a great instructor! I love the colors you have chosen for your cardigans. Much love from Cobbs Creek, Virginia ❤️🧶🇺🇸
Extra tip for anyone:
Once you’ve connected the sleeve, you can add width and (if you want) length at the same time by working on the three remaining sides all at once.
So fun watching you and I have the perfect laundry detergent for you to wash your beautiful cardigan!!
Happy days!
❤ so glad that you decided to do this ; I hope to join the hive in the future
it's too good of a resource to share. hexagon cardis are so fun to make. glad I could share my version with you.
The thing that has put me off this cardigan is the baggy sleeves. I am going to do your personalised measurements and give this a go!
Many thanks!!! ❤️
Thanks for the tutorial Toni. love your videos. ❤
thanks for the support!!
Thank you Toni, I can finally complete the sweater I started 2 months ago. You are the best!!
20:35 when you put the two sides of the granny hexagon together and it made a little mini cardigan half I gasped out loud !!! 😂🎉
I am SO making this! ❤❤❤
A thought for you ... when I join a new yarn onto any project: insert hook into desired space, yarn over with the short tail and pull through, drop the tail and continue with the working yarn. This 'locks' the tail and prevents that first loop easing out of tension. Love your work Toni. Enjoy 😊
You are amazing! Thank you so much. I have been looking forward to making a hexagon cardigan for years.
Cheers!
Omg this video is perfect timing! I started crocheting one of these the other day! I love how colorful your cardigan is! ❤❤❤
I got the free pdf and I CANNOT WAIT TO START!!!! Other than a hat, it will be my first sweater
What? 😂😂😂
, I must say first of all thank you Tony you are amazing all your little twists really help or will help as I'm just watching it for 1st time. Very in depth you covered it all! I've made 3 but the only thing seamed is sleeves and no added length so I've got a long way to go but with your added attention they will be lovely& hopefully it won't be as difficult as I make it ….…
Happy new year always love your tutorials. 🎉🎉could you please put the instructions on the screen this way I back follow along better 👍🏽👍🏽
Love this pattern! Am on my second one. Your tutorials are the best. Thanks much!
Oh I can't wait! Thank you for coming out with this. Excited to try making something wearable for myself.
I am so excited to be here! ❤ love your energy, your heart glasses. Subscribed and ready for all the fun to come!
It is in my Que, but that's a nightmare, lol😂

🧶✌️👍
Different subject.
Very nice, Miss Toni! Looking forward to having this WIP in the near future 🔮 Much love from Southwestern Illinois ❤🤗🔆
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I love your teaching style, your videos are fantastic. I'm excited to make this hexy granny sweater. 😍
