    In my opinion, the sliding dovetail type is a unique type of connection because it resembles a dove's tail. This type of connection has extraordinary tensile strength, is visually beautiful and elegant and is durable against damage.

    I am in need of a word workers help. I need to design a better joint system. I am currently using a french cleat to interlock my cargo box to a piece of flat wood that creates a sleeping platform when the seats are down. The french cleat is a little bulky and sharp on the flat piece of wood when the sleeping platform is not installed. Any ideas on a cleaner plug and play to interlock the two together?

    Cheers Eric ... i put the thought out there and then i came across your video ... i want to make a cross and was pondering 'half lap' ... but you stated Mortise & Tenon is the strongest ... so cheers - a query: this cross is going to be outside, i'm making it from OAK, what do you suggest i use to join the M & T together, in respect of glue
    AND
    Oak's a hardwood, so will there be much contraction in the wood over the years

    Don’t know why he said mitered butt joint isn’t strong which is wrong it’s extremely strong and can outlast a dovetail

    • @DavinciTheWar303
      @DavinciTheWar303 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A mitered corner is one of the weaker joints in woodworking because it relies on gluing end grain to end grain. By itself it has no strength at all. It's just two pieces of wood cut at angles such that they meet precisely at a corner.
