    IN THIS VIDEO: I am working in cold wax and oil on a large scale painting - two 48x48in sections of Arches Cold wax paper (cut slightly larger so if I mount later on panels, there will be excess to trim). This is Part I, the "PLAY" stage. I will try and post more videos as this painting progresses! Thank you for watching, "liking" my videos and subscribing to my channel. I'd love to hear from you so please post a comment in the comment section! Best, Pam ;)

    Hello Pamela -- I would love to see a video (close-up, in process) on how you integrate the use of PanPastels with your cold wax painting. Thank you for all you do --

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Christina - what an excellent question and request :) So, if I use pan pastels (i have the whole set as I love them!!) - I would use them in the "final stages" of a painting. I do not put any dry powders into my paint mixes but would use Pan Pastels at the end to nudge color in subtle ways. I will keep this request in mind!! Also, if you have any questions you would like me to answer, please fill out this form to submit a question for TH-cam and I will try to answer it! Yay!! airtable.com/shrkCKZ2ar6BgrjHY Best, Pam ;)

    I haven't used cold wax and oil paint before just acrylics. How long do you have to wait for the layers to dry before you can layer over? It looks like you layer immediately.

    Hi Pam, this is so interesting and inspiring, thank you. Please would you verify - you said that you mix 50:50 Galkyd Gamsol with paint and cwm to get drippy paint. Does that mean 50% is paint and the other 25% is cwm and 25% Galkyd Gamsol? :-) Thanks again and looking forward to the next video!

      I think 50/50 galkyd/gamsol to the Cwm paint mixture

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Theresa Jones -hmm, not quite-I mix my cwm up to 1:1 with my oils. Then after that is mixed, I add as much 50:50 galkyd:gamsol to that mixture as needed to get the right consistency 😊

    What’s on the gray paint that looks like crusts, Pam? Is it ok to use arches 400lbs watercolour paper that gessoed to replace the particular paper you are using?

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Evi! Great questions! I think what you are asking about is the thick gray R and F pigment sticks which I use with pretty much pressure which causes those crumbs which I can flake off when dry. And yes, you can really use any paper as a substrate as long as you gesso it first! 😊

    But how do you sell your art? get known etc? making is great but if it never gets bothered about by anyone then its useless really as you cannot store mad amounts of work

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are many ways to sell your work these days - from galleries to social media to studio tours to art fairs- you can also donate to great causes or give to others. But, more importantly, just paint. Paint your heart and soul and you won't need to worry about what to do with the art.

    • @karistone1297
      @karistone1297 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amen to that! We paint not just to sell our paintings, but simply because we can't NOT paint😊😊😊
