    All i can say is WOW! You are teaching me things, principals of art and design, I didn't learn in art school 50 years ago. It was the Vietnam War era and moratoriums and protest. Did not do much art for decades. Now retired, I want to give it another try. I have watched maybe half of all your videos on TH-cam and have learned so much and I thank you so much for for everything you are giving and sharing . Really so very generous of you!

    You are a breath of fresh air. I have been so busy figure drawing...beating myself up. I really have to do something wild and crazy like this. I wish my husband would let me do this in our small small apt. It is snowing in NYC so no place to go outside either. But I can watch you and smile... When I got my first covid shot the other day I thought, I am one step closer to a workshop with you!

    I continue to marvel at your demo videos. They are so incredibly instructive for me, both technically and in terms of experiencing process. You are so brave to film yourself working! I am still very uncomfortable with people watching me work. The tool you made is a fantastic idea to distance yourself somewhat from control, which can often be a hindrance in the beginning. Please keep these videos coming. It's almost as helpful as being in a live workshop!

    great vid! I love watching other artists work and really get into it! FYI the brown paper is used by house painters. There is a tool that is like a packing tape dispenser that holds the roll of paper and masking tape. As it rolls out it puts the masking tape on the edge of the paper. Used to for masking larger spaces, windows, etc. Its nice to draw on too.

    Years ago in art school I learned that Matisse painted with a brush attached to the end of a long pole and I always wanted to try it. Never saw anyone else do that, so it was really neat to see you try it. I'm going to try that in a video on my art channel soon. I really love the idea of just playing around to see what directions comes from letting go and exploring. I think that is super important and I currently feel like I'm in the middle of a long phase of abstract exploration. I also appreciate the tips and techniques you share - love the mono print gesso transfer technique, have to try that. Thanks for making these videos.

    That was fantastic, Pam! I'm trying to figure out how to rearrange my house, so I can get some space to work messy and big. You mentioned that to use cold wax, you'd have to apply a layer of clear gesso. Is that because of the paper substrate or do you need that layer between acrylic or ink and wax? Thanks so much for this! I love watching you work, actually Play!

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michelle - yes, the clear gesso has absorbancy, which is kind of essential for oils to adhere to the substrate. The acrylic paint can be glossy, so it really is a good thing to use the clear gesso! :)
