    I would love it if you could make a video more in depth about cervical fluid! I feel like basal temperature is very self explanatory, but cervical fluid is more confusing. I have started tracking my cycle with natural cycles app, and at the same time I try to pay attention to my fluid but I don't really know exactly what to actually pay attention to..? Love your channel, so happy I found it :)

    could you put the names of these in your description so we can research them easier without guessing the spelling.

    I had no idea there were so many other individual forms under the umbrella of FAM. Really cool to learn about these other options!
    A video idea might be to discuss what types of things can affect the accuracy of tracking your cycle and why these methods have failed for some people (common things people do wrong). Taking medications can effect cervical fluid, staying out late drinking can effect your temperature, etc. I remember when I went through the Couples to Couples League they didn't initially tell the class that taking allergy medication (or other meds) could affect our results and that's why I was having such a hard time monitoring my cervical fluid. I later discussed this with my instructors and they informed me, which made me feel a lot better since I was having such a hard time getting the hang of it! Maybe you've already done a video covering things like this, I can't remember. :)
    Keep up the great work! So proud of you my friend! :)

    I had no idea so many types were under the umbrella term fertility awareness. When my obgyn found on I was on doing fam she was very concerned I was going to end up pregnant soon. So far we have avoided pregnancy and I am learning more and more about my cycle and body.

    Standard days method is like 96% assuming your cycles follow the rules, which about the same as typical pill and condom use. Not bad, but your cycle has to fall into the rules.

    I'm very ignorant about this topic, so I'm very grateful that you are educating and encouraging education about it. That being said, are these methods considered "birth control"? Or is fertility awareness methods tools to help you understand your cycle?

      @FemmeHead  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Kira Sorbet They can be used for birth control, pregnancy achievement, or to learn more about your body.

    John & Evelyn Billings were HIGHLY critical of The Creighton Model.
    Evelyn insisted that women need to use their own language to describe their own cervical fluid. Dr. Hilgers who started Creighton wanted to make things easier for himself by standardizing and keeping the available words for description slim-which confuses women if they don't fall into one of the pre-conceived categories or descriptions.
    He also has confusing language in the curriculum, making it a much more difficult method to learn.
    BILLINGS is the way to go.
    Daily temperature taking sucks and is only even logical if you'er infertile and need verification that you're ovulating at all.

    • @GodHasBeenGracious
      @GodHasBeenGracious 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know of pregnancy avoidance methods available that integrate ferning, but it sure is cool and I'm enjoying monitoring my patterns alongside the sympto-thermal method (FAM). If you find one, it would at least be fun to read about so share it here?

    I'm loving your videos, and learning so much. I'm from Ireland, where abortion is still illegal so you can imagine the lack of menstral/sex education.. so I was wondering if you could explain some of the methods in detail, like how to actually chart cycles and use specific FAMs. I never knew about charting cycles before stumbling across your channel, and don't know anyone who charts theirs. And at 19 years of age, that says a lot I think!

    • @MsFattyface
      @MsFattyface 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +rainydaygirl x oh I know the pill is available, but it's technically illegal to even travel abroad for abortion. I'm just saying, charting cycles and FAMs aren't taught at all here, at least from my experience

    • @MsFattyface
      @MsFattyface 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +rainydaygirl x I'm pretty sure your method isn't the safest either.. I've still to learn more on the FAMs but they seem to work for lots of people

  • @nannerdanner

    Hey! So I've started going back into your past videos watching how to track your fertility and it all started with your Daysy video and I either was never told about the more natural way of tracking your fertility instead of using birth control or it just wasn't elaborated on when learning about sex education but THANK YOU FOR EXISTING. I'm so excited about this and I would love to try it out because my birth control is basically the last thing I'm trying to make more natural and not put harmful chemicals in my body (hell yeah vegan!) and just not get pregnant.
    Now Daysy is a little put of my price range as of yet but I am curious about one thing: can I start tracking my fertility via temperature while I'm still on the pill or do I need to be completely OFF the pill for it to work at all? I'm also most likely going to sign up for your e-course but I want to do more research on my own and come into it with questions I can't find the answers to.

    • @jadeelizabeth3065
      @jadeelizabeth3065 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FAM is kind of frowned upon as a method of birth control in the US (assuming that's where you're from.) A lot of people look at it as unreliable (it's just as effective as HBC when you follow the rules), and larger corporations who benefit from women buying HBC gain no profit from it, so it's not something that you would learn about in school or hear about from your parents (unless they live their life on the more natural side.) FAM is a great way of not only tracking your cycles and ovulation, but getting to know your body. I'm glad Victoria is reaching people and inspiring them through her videos, especially younger crowds. :) Make sure to pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility is you're really interested in FAM. It's basically the bible.

      @nannerdanner 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah totally I will look into that^. I went to my OBGYN for my annual and told her I want to go FAM and she was all for it. "That's so exciting!! Yes that's great good for you!" And I just started a new cycle without HBC. I'm excited to get to know my body :)

    How are you actually supposed to track temperature and fluids? Is it simply taking our temperature the same way you would when you're sick? And how much of a change in temperature should one expect? And I have NO IDEA how one is supposed to track cervical fluids...

    I have a quick question! What method do you recommend using when you have an irregular cycle?

  • @eleonorasblog
    @eleonorasblog 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your videos! But I would never use methods like the temperature method or Billings on their own, because both temperature and cervical mucus can be affected by irregular sleeping routine, medicine, stress, alcohol and so on...I have a friend who used the temperature method and thought she was infertile because her temperature was up for a few days - but in reality she was only stressed and ill - and of course she got pregnant. So it’s better to use a combined method like the symptothermal method, at least if you DON'T want to get pregnant 😁 I’ve been using it for almost two years now and I love it (I’m using sensiplan)! Also it’s so versatile, you can check your cervix instead of your cervical mucus and also check at your secondary signs :)

    How much is any FAM method with temperature affected by time of day the temp is taken? I have weird hours and don't wake up at the same time everyday nor could I and I can't seem to get any answers about this. Thanks!

    • @jadeelizabeth3065
      @jadeelizabeth3065 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      When using FAM, you have to take your temperature at the same time every day so you would need to set an alarm. As far as I know, time of day doesn't really matter as long as it's right after you've woken up and is the same time. It's very important to be consistent when using FAM.

    Hey there, what would you suggest for those of us who don't want to be on hormonal birth control but we're out on it for health reasons? I recently was put on the pill due to wacky and painful periods (sometimes I would have two in one month lasting 7 days and some months no period at all).

    • @FemmeHead
      @FemmeHead  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Patricia H I would say that you have some sort of imbalance, but you probably already know that. The tricky thing about hormonal birth control is that it masks/"fixes" your symptoms, and so you don't go figure out what is actually going on. I just finished "Woman Code" by Alisa Vitti and I love her natural approach to period issues.

      +FemmeHead thank you for the quick reply! I will look up that book right away. I figured there was something I was missing but unfortunately there isn't much support for women who want a more natural way to deal with their womanhood. Thanks a bunch and I look forward to watching more of your videos! :)
