I am quitting birth control after 5 years!! I decided today and I am so excited! I can't wait to get my natural rhythm back. I want my body back! I wish I would have done this years ago but at least I'm doing it now. Great video.
+Euri Oh Thanks, and I'm so happy to hear this! I found that reading and learning about my cycle while I was coming off of the pill was very helpful! Do your research and it makes the process so much better!!
I’ve been taking it for over 5-6 months due to irregular periods and it has controlled my acne. My face is finally clearing up. I want to get off of it though. I have chest and back acne. A few people around me don’t agree to stay on it and I don’t agree to stay on it for years either. I need advice on this. Idk what to do. I’m think of being off of it for at least two months to see what happens. I don’t look forward to my acne though 😢or the irregular bleeding.
girl today is my second day off the pill after having been on it for 4 years. i was really scared at first, but i decided to reverse my thinking and understand that i want to quit it because i love myself. i want to take care of my body and be as natural as i can in every aspect; synthetic hormones are not natural. and i also have to remind myself that like said before, every woman is different and therefore will have different experiences. and if it doesn't work out, you can always just go back on (:
I hate bc. It makes me laugh because it causes so many issues and people go back to the doctor for the issues and they just get prescribed another medication. For example, depression.
Polina Tkachenko Exactly I’m stop taking it today I found I’m losing circulation too and I’m thinking to myself it definitely has to be these birth control pills
This really connect the dots. Gaining weight in my legs, being grumpy, emotional and negative all the time! And I just didn't understand why! Well now I know. Thank you.
Coconut Curls me as well!! i have started it and only taken it for only a week and a half and ive had major mood swings along with nausea and i felt more depressed so i stopped taking it. not worth it!!
Coconut Curls me too..... I stopped last month and I’m never going back. I went on at age 18 and then developed anxiety & depression, mood swings and “brain fog.” Took me years to realize the pill was part of the problem!!!!
I feel the same... if someone can help me.... I've been on the pill for just 3 months now and I've noticed how it's just made me question everything I think its given me depression :( and I never used to feel this way. I think it's my body telling me something is wrong I think I need to get off it, its effecting my daily life and make me feel down and question my amazing relationship and life in general. And before the pill I NEVER felt this way.. is it normal :( ? And I think i should get off
Dudeee!!!! I literally have been battling this.. I've been feeling so off... UTIs.. Very down.. Sluggish. . Depressed.. And highly anxious! Im in a relationship so I felt the same as you did... I just can't stop! But gosh so many negative effects!!! I knew it wasn't just in my head.. Happy to hear all of these confirmations
When I was taking the pill I was SO incredibly tired and had awful mood swings. I am a moody person as it is, though when on birth control I got to the point where I felt so low I did not want to live anymore. This is when I decided to come off of it. I have not had any extreme lows since.
Have you since taken another form of birth control? I have a similar experience as you and want to stop taking the pill, but I still want to prevent pregnancy and manage my hormonal acne
That happened to me with one of the pills then another gave me a really bad allergic reaction but now I went back to it and so far this new pill isn't giving me any bad side effects. The only thing is my stomach hurts but idk if it's the pill or just my body since I get that even without it.
this is amazing. I didnt realise the pill was actually affecting me until I started seeing a difference in my moods and all the things you mentioned in the video. Thank you so much truly
Thank you for sharing your story . I started taking the bc pill last year November and got off about a month ago. I’ve been dealing with anxiety here and there and let me tell you it’s not a fun feeling at all. It’s sad how doctors do not tell you the true side affects. To anyone experiencing anxiety, you’re not alone. I deal with it every other week and it’s really hard but things will get better.
Thanks for making this video! I started birth control a month and a half ago...it has been terrible. I started to have heart palpitations two weeks in, anxiety and depression began a month after me taking them. It has gotten so bad that I was unable to socialize, attend class or even eat properly. I decided to stop taking them today, so wish me luck on a speedy recovery. I wish someone would have warned me more instead of passing them out like candy. (It was a low estrogen dose btw)
DawnsDarkPrincess has the depression and anxiety stopped? I’m really thinking about stopping and getting a copper IUD because I feel like it’s to blame for my feelings of depression
DawnsDarkPrincess I have all These symptoms right now and I’m on the second month of birth control and planning on getting off after I finish this packet.
Good for you for sharing this information!! So many women in 30-40s are struggling with extreme hormone issues for taking birth control for 10-20 years. Young women need to know the dangers!
I finally realized that my birth control was making me feel tired, depressed, made me gain weight, and made me not that into sex anymore and finally stopped it a few days ago. This video makes so much sense. Thank you for sharing this.
I’ve been on the pill for a few months and In the first five weeks, I gained 9lbs, I suspect a lot is retaining water because my stomach has been so bloated and so uncomfortable. I’m stopping the pill and hoping it will drop off. The only good thing I found was my skin looked clearer
@@kyleemadison1208 no it got worse. Apparently the pill was reacting with the good bacteria in my stomach and stripping it away. Taking probiotics and natural yogurt helped some but I ended up stopping the pill and all the weight and bloating disappeared within a week or two. I’m pregnant now lol
@@gemimalove6671 okay thank you I’m on the pill because of acne and irregular periods not for a contraceptive so I decided to just stop taking the pill because I’ve be extremely bloated to the point where my clothes barely fit and I don’t think it’s worth it
Hi Tracey Trinh! I couldn't reply to your actual comment, but I hope this response gets to you either way. For me personally getting off of the pill was a breeze, and my hormones rebalanced quite quickly, resulting in regular periods. I originally went on the pill at 18 because I had heavy, painful nine day long periods, and I thought going on hormonal birth control was the solution. But ever since coming off, learning the fertility awareness method and about what was actually happening in my body, and the importance of it, I have found that I actually like getting my period. It's now around five days long and the cramps barely bother me anymore. All in all, I think that if you're wanting to get off of it, and don't have a serious medical condition behind your reason behind being on it in the first place, then go off of it, give you body 6-12 months and see how you feel. And of course, learn about your body in that time. I bet you'll be surprised!
It's so relieving to hear you mention the UTI infections. I've been off birth control for almost a year. Though, when I was on birth control I was having consistent UTI infections and have yet to understand why up to the moment you mentioned the connection between UTI infections and birth control in this video. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
ive only been on the pill for two weeks, it was supossed to help my mood, acne and my irregular period. so far ive just gained tons of weight, been super emotionally unstable, and worsened acne. just in TWO WEEKS!
You have to find the pill with the right amount of hormones for your body. Talk to ur Doctor. Ive been on the pill for six months and switched three times. This one now gives me some minor side effects that go away by working out a lil for example. And I feel really good. As soon as u feel really bad ur Doctor needs to give u one with a lower does of hormones. Hope that helps
Oh my god! I’m 3 weeks in and feeling crazy because I have extreme gut issues right now! Had a feeling I’m possibly estrogen dominant so I’m looking into tests, thanks for your comment!
Hi!!! I am so glad that I came across your channel. You inspired me to get off birth control that I’ve been taking since I was 14. I am 22 now and I’ve been tracking my period now for almost 2 years! You made me think of so much stuff! I didn’t know I could only get pregnant a few days out of the month and I knew nothing about my cycle! I’ve been medication free completely and it feels great not being on birth control! I want to thank you so much! I kind of strayed away from your channel since then but has to find you again to thank you. You really brought this situation to my attention. You changed my life is a huge way! I have to go watch all your videos now. So for anyone out there I’ve been tracking for a long time now and I’m sexually actively and I’ve never had one scare. My body regulated a few months after so it’s easy to keep track. Anyways thank you soooo much. You’re badass. I owe you one.
I have all the side effects you described. Feeling down/depressed all the time, crying about silly things, being very irritable and I'm not sure if this is related but i seem to be struggling with OCD. I have the implant and because that just made me bleed on and off all the time I have to take the pill as well to control the bleeding. So basically it's like a hormone overload! I really want to get rid of both of them and see what I'm like when I'm not on anything but not sure what is the best alternative. Anyway your video was really eye opening so thank you.
I've been using fertility awareness/ NFP,for over ten years now(I'm not Catholic, but am pro-life I'm Buddhist) . I try to teach all my friends about it, atleast those who r willing & want to learn anyway lol. I completely agree with you on hormonal birth control. I have some major health issues caused by being put on hormonal birth control at a very young age to treat my endometriosis. It didnt help my endometriosis at all,and caused an estrogen sensitivity. I'm now 32 and still dealing with problems caused by hormonal birth control when i was 14-16yrs old. While I'm glad the choice is out there for some women,i wish our society educated people on what hormonal birth control actually is &how it affects the body both short &long term. Thanx for making this video & I'm very glad you are feeling much better now.
This is the best video I've seen on this topic! Thank you! I'm just coming off birth control after a year and a half because it made me feel so bloated and weighed down. It may sound strange but I also really miss having proper periods!
+lina loves I guess looking back I can't remember any mood swings in particular. I just remember being just such a happier person day to day. I do remember having a moment traveling abroad, about four months off the pill, where I was really emotional, but I'm sure the circumstance had a lot more to do with the emotions than my hormones. But you never know!!
Thank you so much for your video. I quitted just a week ago and I am still shocked about not caring for 14 years what I'm doing to my body :(. I hope there will be no sever consequences and I wish that the todays 16 years old are getting informed much better on the pros and cons of the pill.
I’ve been considering treating my body like the temple it is, I have sensitive skin and am very suseaptable to utis and yeast infections so I decided to stop using tampons, I looked that up and found your video, I made the final decision and then wanted to know if I should avoid birth control too, HOW FUNNY that you’d have videos on both, I think it’s settled, I’m never putting anything discovered/invented by a man in my body again.
A few years ago I struggled with period/birth control issues very similar to you. It was such a frustrating journey that last for 4 years. I tried everything and looked up and down for solutions. I'm so glad that there is finally someone out there preaching the information I had to look so hard to find. Your awesome!!!
Thank you for sharing your story. I was watching you around when you started and now I’m experiencing fertility complications. I love that I’ve stumbled across your page during this new experience I’m having ❤
I’m so glad I found this video. I’ve been on birth control since I was 17…I’m 33 now. Since I’ve taken it I’ve been down, moody, irritable, mirgranes, no sex drive. I’ve talked to my dr multiple times and she just wanted to put me on depression meds (I never took), and told me my sex drive just must be how I am and some women don’t have sex drives. Im so annoyed that it took me this long to figure it out. I feel like I’ve lost all of my 20s…well 6 more pills left in my pack and im done with birth control. I want my life back. Thank you for all the info.
@@BeTheLight242 yes! I feel so much better. My mood and irritability is definitely better. Migraines have improved from daily to maybe twice a month. Also I noticed my anxiety has improved tremendously. I didn’t mention that in the original post because I didn’t think that had anything to do with the birth control but now I barely get anxiety. Birth control is the only thing I was taking/stopped taking so it must have been a contributing factor to the anxiety. However, still no huge change in sex drive. Can’t win them all I guess lol. Also it took months to notice a huge difference. I would say about 4-6months is when I noticed the changes.
@@BeTheLight242 also forgot to mention that on birth control my periods were light and only lasted about 5 days. Now they are heavy the first 3 days and normal thru day 7. And it comes regularly. On bc I felt like it was all over the place for me personally. Sorry tmi but that was another difference I noticed.
@@amandalc2 thank you for responding! I’m glad your doing so much better! I’ve been watching videos on bc because I’ve been on it since I was 17 I’m now almost 30. So I don’t know the person I am without the drug, I’ve been using the depo provera so I haven’t had any periods, I have lots of weight gain, anger, mood swings, irritability, depression, anxiety, bloating, stomach aches all the time, headache, dizziness, I’m really hoping I can get better.. my depo will wear off in 2 weeks. I know it won’t be a quick change but I’m trying to get some info on what to expect
So glad I found this video and am reading comments from other women experiencing the same shit I am. I mean I’m not glad other people are experiencing it, I’m just glad to know I’m not the only one. When you look it up online, there’s anecdotal evidence but every article always says there’s no definitive link between bc and depression, so that always kinda negates all the anecdotal evidence for me and discourages me because I’m like ugh if it’s not the pill then wtf is making me so depressed?! Anyway, reading all these comments has made me feel more encouraged to at least try coming off the pill for a few months to see if it helps. Of course my periods will go back to being heavy af and I’ll get cramps again for the first time in years, but hey, if I can feel normal 3 weeks out of the month, I’ll take the one week where I don’t feel great. I also feel like no matter how much I work out and eat right, my body is kind of stuck at a certain weight and it will not budge. It’s super discouraging to work out 5-6 times a week, eat a mostly whole food diet, and still feel fat. I’m sooooo over this, I’m actually excited to stop taking my pill.
I'm coming off in one week and I can not wait!! Been on the combined pill for 3 months now due to irregular periods and oh my god it's been a rollercoaster!! I've been in denial that it could have been down to the pill but I've been doing research and I'm experiencing ALL the negative symptoms...weight gain, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and extreme fatigue. The pill works differently for every one but to anyone who is considering getting on it please also consider the negative effects as well as the positive! Just a heads up woman-to-woman X
Rachel Percival i have had the same exact side effects!! i stopped taking the pill last night after only taking it for a week and a half, definitely not worth it!!
So, I just turned 38 a few weeks ago and I was on hormonal birth control since I was about 16. I just stopped taking it a few months ago because my doc was a little concerned about my increased risk of blood clots... Girl - within like 3 weeks, I went from having almost NO libido, to feeling like a "normal" person again. I always thought that I just naturally had a lower sex drive than others, but in reality, the pill completely killed it! **Note: I think the pill is one of the most important inventions in women's history because it (finally) gave women the ability to choose if and when they wanted to have children. Please don't read my comment and think that birth control is "bad" or that you should stop taking it. This is just my personal experience and you should always talk to your doc before starting or stopping any med you are taking.
Birth control is kind of tricky because for people using it for medical reasons, it does more good than harm I believe. I got on birth control at the age of 16 (my doctor suggested it without me even requesting) because I had a period for 2 months straight and it was so heavy I was changing pads/tampons like every 2 hours. For me, hormonal birth control was my only easy option. At the time, i was pretty young so they didn't order any hormone tests because I wasn't looking to get pregnant. Birth control has done wonders for me. Despite slight weight gain (I gained 10 lbs. but i'm already underweight) and a few acne breakouts, birth control has been an AMAZING option for me. If you do not have a history of cancer or other problems causes by BC (clots for example), your risk only becomes slightly higher. For me, the birth control benefits outweigh the risks. HOWEVER, i think this video is very informative and if women have a regular period (regular hormones) and are looking to prevent pregnancy, there are so many other options out there rather than hormonal birth control. From what I've heard from other's, birth control messes with women with naturally stabilized hormones rather than women with hormonal imbalances.
Thank you for making this video! I'm getting the nexplanon taken out of my arm next week because I have been having my period every two weeks for the last 5 months! Since doing some research and watching videos like yours I've decided That I'm going to quit taking hormonal birth control and let my body just go back to normal (considering before the pill or nexplanon I didn't have any issues with my cycle I just thought I had to go on hormonal birth control in order to be a responsible woman) and I couldn't be happier about it!
Okay, I must be the only woman whose birth control has not affected her in anyway negatively! I got on birth control last year and I had light periods or no period at all. My libido was still normal, my face cleared up, I didn't gain or loss any weight whatsoever. But I stopped taking mine simply because I completely forget to take them at the same time everyday and just said to hell with it. It's been about a month and I fell perfectly fine and the same as I was on the pill. But birth control effects EVERY woman differently - some positive, some negative. You just have to find the perfect one that works for you!! Plenty of options available to you! :)
+Gabryelle Sutton I'm so happy to hear that it worked for you! I agree that it affects every female differently. For me it was negatively. I'm all about choice, but unfortunately, I think women aren't given enough information to make an informed decision when getting on birth control. But I think that now that we're starting to discuss it, the information will be out there so every woman can find what's right for them.
+FemmeHead The information on birth control is already out there. your healthcare provider should be telling you all about it. Not to mention when you open the box of birth control the side effects are right on the box!!! If you didn't read it then...wtf?
+Jen B But it doesn't directly say "this messes with your thyroid levels". It just says" may cause weight gain". It doesn't say all of the things that it may lead to, at all.
+Billythachikk Not true. Anything that you take, at least that I take I read that little pamphlet from cover to cover. I want to know what the side effects are for anything I put into my body. The issue is doctors and pharmaceutical companies have made it seem as if taking the pill is the most normal thing to do when it isn't. Your body has it's own cycle. Unless you have other underlying problems with your menstrual cycle, why take a birth control pill that affects your natural hormonal levels? And if people would really stop and think about how the body works, if you change one thing in it, most likely you can and may affect something else. The body is an entire system. You may study it as the reproductive cycle or the cardiovascular cycle but your body is doesn't work separately in that way. Everything is connected. If something is out of whack in one, and this continues long enough, of course you can affect other systems in the body.
I've been on the pill for about 2 years and so have my friends (5 of them) and we haven't experienced any bad side effects at all! Works perfectly fine for me:)
I've been on the pill two or three times, in increments of 3 months. Finally, the last time that I quit I noticed a drastic change in my libido. I wasn't going out and sleeping with strangers or anything, but I got some strong feelings. I was seeing men, even just ones walking by, in a more sexual way. It was like a part of my brain was reactivated by quitting.
Great information! I went off birth control in my mid-twenties just because I instinctively felt taking hormones was bad. I never went back because ever since my mood has become more and more stable and my weight went back to normal. While taking pills and shots I struggled with depression and moodiness and I had a "puffed" up appearance. It took about 6 months to get a period again and I didn't have a regular period until I went vegan and cut out all animal products. There are hormones in cheese and milk and eggs, even if they are from organic "happy" animals without added hormones.
I've gained belly fat and bloat since being on the pill since last fall and it's like dieting and exercise barely does anything to it. I've been so uncomfortable. So I'm throwing my pills away. I have a very strong feeling this will get rid of it.
Please share which pill you take. I've been on it for years(12) took a break, went back on but it's not having the same effect on my body it did before.
Ive been taking it for about a year and I just made the decision to stop a few days ago because I was so depressed and down and easily upset just like you. It was affecting my relationship and I hated it. I am naturally bubbly and outgoing and I became antisocial and cried all the time. I can't wait to get my natural cycle back.
Thanks so much for this talk !!! I'm on birth control and I feel down and my estrogen is very low because I'm on bc. I started having so many problems and I'm thinking about getting off of it
I'm 20 and I've never been on birth control but I am happy to say that with a healthy fertility diet I have been able to have regular periods with about a month between each one. I have almost no cramps and they are not too heavy at all. I've always missed periods in the past, having a period only every 2 months at the earliest. The longest I went without a period was about 4 months (the doctor says to have no more than 3 months between each period, but really a healthy one is about 28-30 days I think) and after that I realized how unhealthy I was and started figuring out how to induce my period through diet. The biggest change was cutting out excess sugar, which I believe has an incredibly negative effect on hormones for both men and women. I also take natural supplements such as saw palmetto, iron, selenium, and vitamin D to my hormones and reduce facial hair on my throat, which is a sign of hormonal imbalance.
I went to the doctor before I started my diet and they told me that I probably have PCOS and I should go on birth control. However, I had heard that birth control was bad for your hormones somewhere and decided to go to an alternative women's doctor. They were great and told me to not consume more than 30 grams of excess sugar a day and stick to a mediterranean or paleo diet. I admit that I cheat a lot by eating refined carbs such as pizza crust and bagels because I'm in college and there's not a lot of choices, but one thing I can control is not eating things like cookies or ice cream every day, but just once a week.
i started taking the pill when i was 15 because i got heavy and long periods. During my time of taking them i experienced a few side affects which really affected me. I had continuous headaches ( including dizziness), felt nauses most days, my mood swings were horrendous. I felt very, very sad for most the of the time and every minute of everyday, i felt not tired...but emotionally and physically exhausted. Ever since coming off the pill i have felt a lot happier, i don't get headaches as regualry and i just over all feel a lot better. Basically if you are thinking about taking the pill, don't just presume its going to make everything a breeze because if you have a similar experience to what i did, you'll wish you never took it in the first place :)
This is what i like about youtube. I get to find people like you. I am making huge life changes for myself. I have quit eating meat, dairy products, anything processed.. Basically a vegan/ raw vegan. I am living as a minimalist, starting on Zero waste life style and now thinking about quitting birth control. I am so sick of it. Why put chemicals in my body? I love life and i gotta protect and take care of myself. I have been on it for almost 6 years. Gotta do more research and readings ! Thanks for this video!
BIRTH CONTROL DESTROYED MY HEALTH, IT CAUSED ME TO BE HYPOTHYROID and 45 POUNDS FLEW ONTO MY BODY within MONTHS!!!!!!!! I am currently TRYING SO HARD to get my health back. Thanks for posting this video, young women NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS AND THE "DOCTORS" WHO PRESCRIBE THESE ARE NOT TELLING THEM ANYTHING!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! you're a life saver. All women/girls taking birth control should do their research as well so they can know what theyre putting into their bodies. TYSM.
This I great that women are questioning why they are on a medication and what it does to their bodies. As a health care professional this is something I strive to do with every patient. However, much of the information presented in this video is misinformed and taken out of context. Without understanding the pathophysiology of the medication it is confusing and misleading. There is so much information out there that is not necessarily true or completely correct. This is not to blame you, rather prove that it is easily interpreted, which is a concern for women doing 'research'. For example, yes, there is an increased risk of plaque build up. BUT this is not in your mouth. This is in your arteries. In young and healthy people this is not a serious issue. However it is important to monitor your health in conjunction with a doctor and have routine blood tests periodically to assess and identify any dangerous changes in your blood. It is alarming that some brands can have very dangerous side effects and risks. But responsible doctors will base treatment on their educational understanding and recent and reliable evidence published. I have been on the pill for five years and there are some side effects. However the period we experience when taking sugar pills is indeed real. Our period is the evacuation of blood from our uterus. The purpose of the blood in the first place is to allow an fertilized egg and later embryo to grow and form a placenta. The pill stops an egg from being released and therefore prevents pregnancy. But the lining still exists and once the levels of hormones drop, we get a period. This is not completely different from what it bodies do naturally. The natural family planning method is a great consideration and I think it's great you have learned about this. I am a Christian but not catholic so I definitely see the value of this. I do believe that contraceptive pills have a purpose and I have used it to relieve symptoms of endometriosis and the benefits have far outweighed the negatives. It is important to understand that the primary purpose of sex is to procreate. So it is vital to understand how this works and how to prevent or plan a pregnancy. The pill itself does not actually cause weight gain but the increase in hormones can change appetite and cravings. Which makes us want to eat more and we put in more weight. Currently there are no compelling or credible peer-reviewed articles that support the theory mentioned in the video. In any case, it is encouraging to see people show interest in learning about their medications and what it means for them. While this is often over prescribed I would always ask my doctor the questions first as they really do know much more than we do and can put into context the things we read or research on our own. Being on the pill is effective in the right cases but not the best option for others. Just speak to your doctor first before making any assumptions or health care decisions! No judgement here, I just feel very passionate about getting the right facts out there.
Laura C plaque in the arteries sounds so much better than plaque in the mouth.... ive only had negative experience with doctors and the "medications" they perscribe.
You did not mention the truth behind hormonal contraceptives increasing the risk of breast cancer (a known fact for many years possibly decades). You also did not mention the effect (or not) on a woman's thyroid, just that her "appetite" changes.
mad4nertz thats what doctors do. Just leave out the majority of important information that effects your body. Thats where the money is for them. If we were all healing our bodies naturally there wouldnt be money for them. They live off sick people getting more sick
I see what you're saying but not all doctors are responsible. I've gotten birth control for friends since I was 13 and those doctors didn't ask me much. They didn't question me much about what I needed they just asked why I needed it and explained how I was supposed to take it.
I was SHOCKED to hear about your UTI issue. I’ve been struggling with this, conveniently after starting the pill. I had no idea why, and I actually had a full on kidney infection. Not to mention suddenly having bowl issues, increased anxiety, weight gain, increased anxiety, low libido.... what the heck. I think I know what the issue may be now
Thank you so much for posting this i am 22 years old and was on birth control and extremely depressed for about a year and a half and was going to doctors and talking to therapists and NO ONE said maybe it could be the pill but finally i stopped it's been like 5 months and i finally feel like i did before birth control. i wish i had seen this video much sooner
After 4 months my skin improved so much, because that's why i started, but man i'm so down. I have no energy and feel emty. Imma take this blister till it's empty and then i'll change to another one or just stop. Good skin isn't worth not enjoying life anymore
What did you end up doing? I was considering it because I'm scared of getting pregnant but Im already struggling a little with mental health and I'm worried it will affect me very negatively
@@Miakruger i'm still taking it sadly because i wanted to wait untill i finish school, which is soon. My mental health was really bad at the beginning of the year but now it's better. My skin is honestly not that good but i'm so scared that it'll completly freak out once i stop 🤧
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! So many women have been hurt by birth control--it is truly awful. (Not to mention the environment and all of the people that are effected via estrogen in the water, males in particular.) We are only beginning to understand how putting something so unnatural in our bodies has really negative repercussions. Thanks to people like you, the word is getting out that women deserve better, not to mention it is SO COOL to actually understand our bodies. It is so nice that with NFP my husband actually desires to understand and respect my body and fertility, not just have me take a pill to shut it down. Thanks again for sharing this. Great video.
Hey girl! Im so happy that you're getting the word out about birth control and the way that it effects your body. I totally support handing out birth control to young women to prevent pregnancy, but we (as women) need to know more about what is happening in our bodies! Thanks for your effort!
Getting off the pill was such a difficult time for me (my hormones didn't balance out and my body went haywire) - but I won't EVER go back. It made me depressed as well and my mood swings were horrendous.
I'm just very hormonal sometimes go to wanting to go on a killing spree and then crying about thinking too much, taking a nap then wake up happy as a mf. 😭
very informative. its too bad we only get motivated to research after we've already suffered the harsh realities -- that's what happened to me anyway after taking the pill/the implant. I'm so mad at myself for falling into the trap. I never wanted BC. For years, I had avoided it whenever the doctors asked. but after worsening periods over the years, the first thing they suggest is BC. So I finally accepted it & It literally has been nothing but a nightmare since then.
Thank you for this informative piece! I appreciate it. I am finally going off after 25 years on. I've put it off out of fear of what would happen to my body after being on for so long, but I am finally ready now. Thanks for the info - this along with other things I have read/watched helped push me in the right direction. Hoping for a smooth transition. Thanks again!
@@daniellehedger3644 No problems at all! I felt that it was the right decision for me. The only issue was MILD cramping before SOME periods but not all, just annoying not really painful. I went into it with the attitude that I would give it a try for a year and if I wasn't happy I could always go back. I never went back. Good luck to you!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this! I’m 17 years old and I’ve been on birth control for a couple of months now. I started the pill because my doctor suggested it for my terrible periods. But the past few months have been terrible! I’ve battled with depression before, but this is the worst it’s been in years. I have been extremely sick and moody everyday, I don’t have good days anymore. My skin still breaks out really bad, and I’ve bled on and off the past two weeks even tho I’m taking my pill at the same time every day. I’m also having bad stomach cramps, and it’s not even my placebo week. I finally made the decision to quit the other day and I’m so happy to get back to how I used to be!! 💕
Birth control cleared my skin so quickly, in like 2 months, and i also use it bc i am in a long term relationship. I never had depression or any negative side effects except I dislike my periods on the pill. So I'm planning on getting the iud soon & so afraid my acne will return. Hope its worth it ☹️️
Thank you so much for making this video!!!! I have one question when you were on the pill did you feel disconnected to your boyfriend at the time and have a low sex drive??
I recently have been thinking that my birth control is the source of all my problems. I started taking it when I was 14 (for crazy heavy flows and intense cramps) and I've been on it for almost 11 years now. I developed lactose intolerance and rosacea during this time. And now my periods are crazy irregular even on the pill. I'll have two in one month sometimes and no period at all for like three months at a time. I really think it's the extra hormones messing me up, but I wasn't sure about quitting because I don't want to get pregnant lol. However, after watching a few of your videos I'm going to try tracking my cycle and once I think I can actually use it to predict my period I'll get off the pill :) (don't want any surprise periods either)
ashPTERODACTYL at 14 your body is still growing and at 14 i had really heavy flows but my mum and my doctor wouldn't give me the pill because 1.a 14 body is still growing 2.your flow will sort it sefe out as you go though purbty 3.i had a haeart op at 11 years old
Thank you, thank you!!!!! I just got my iud out and my obgyn definitely didn’t want me to... but you gave me so much confidence to stick up for myself in this topic. You’re amazing and inspiring 🥰😊😊
I just got off the pill because it made all my liver enzymes blow through the roof and it’s been hurting my liver and gallbladder. The pill prevents pregnancy but it hurts so many important organs that you need to feel and be healthy! The pill made me extremely sick and now I’m dealing with blood tests, ultrasounds, itchy skin and unbearable nausea. I can’t even eat without vomiting. When the first blood results came back for me, my doctor said “stop taking the pill IMMEDIATELY.” And I did and days later, the nausea started to go away and I know the pill really is evil. People are blinded by the good it does and they don’t see all the bad it does. It’s evil and I’m scared to try any other form of birth control! My husband and I will have to stick to condoms. Thank you for this video
subscribed as soon as you said you went to a natural family planning class, like you're actually dope! when you said it doubles your risk of breast cancer i decided im not taking the pill as soon as i wake up tomorrow. im curious about the side effects though, i'm 21 and i've been taking it since i've been 16 and i'm so terrified of what's happening to my body right now. im here because ive been on a health journey the past two years and i've never considered what birth control does to my body until now when i just refilled my prescription (i won't be picking it up).
whoa..thank you for this video. it honestly made me rethink every going on the pill. my period is kind of irregular. it used to be pretty regular in the beginning: 3 days at the beginning of the month, no cramps. it was nice. now i get heavily influenced by other people's cycles. Like if i'm around someone starting their period then i get mine the day after if i haven't had it yet. And my cycle and flow starts to match theirs. which sucks if their flows is heavy and they get hella bad cramps..anyway i basically have mine twice a month and it's bad but not too bad..i felt like going on the pill but I don't know anymore..Your video definitely made me think twice about my decision. Thank you!!
I’ve been on birth control since I was 15. I’m now 19 and I feel like it’s messing with me bad.. I’m in a 3 year relationship and I’m thinking about talking to my boyfriend about an alternative because I want off of this.
Grecia Cuervo because it helps me on my acne problems and its helping with my period cramps but when i miss a pill my acne flares up and it sucks because it makes a person feel bad
IVE BEEN ON BIRTH CONTROL PILLS FOR 1 YR NOW AND I HAVE BEEN SPOTTIN BROWN FOR A MONTH NOW. WHAT THE HELL GOIN ON. IM ON SEASONAL..I DIDNT HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE BEGINNING...BUT THIS LAST MTH IT WONT STOP SPOTTN BROWN...IM FINNA STOP AT THE END OF THIS MONTH...IM SICK OF THIS CRAP
med student here giving some perspective: doctors don't explain everything bc the average person wouldn't understand what they're even talking about. something that we study for years can't just be explained in simple terms in 5 minutes...you'd need a full on powerpoint and visuals and terms :)) and actually, the chance of breast cancer is very VERY slim. it actually protects against endometrial & ovarian cancer
So glad I found this video when I actually started my first pack for the first time. Of course it affects every woman's body differently but even if you feel fine on the outside that may not be the case on the inside. The damage might show itself later in life and you might not even think it was your birth control. I just recently had a baby at the tender age of 18 (19 now) and he is a blessing but I am so paranoid about getting pregnant again that I almost accept the harm it's doing if that makes sense. I started off with the Miena IUD and that was just terrible so I started the pill . With the different types it's like pick your poison.
I loved this video and how informative it was and you seem like such a kind, loving person. I just wish people stopped spreading only fear about the pill. I have to take it because I loose too much blood otherwise and I have a huge problem with iron deficiency. The pill has been the one thing to help with that and bad cramping. For me it's a health risk if I don't take it. And it's not always nice when people only talk about all these horrible and bad things when it can also have good effects if monitored correctly by a professional.
I feel ya gurl. But i don’t think i’m going to quit the pill tho.. I’m going to keep trying until i get rid of the heavy flow. 👍 I don’t really have any side effects tho.. It’s like ok, but mood swings can appair when i start the hormonal pill.
I saw other videos related to this topic & I wanted to add on. The main reason why I started birth control at 18 was not because I wanted to engage in sexual relationships, but because I had extreme irregular periods & the few times a year that I did get my period it was extremely severe pain. This pain consisted of cramps, vomiting, blurry vision, and nearly fainting. Every time I would get these side effects I would take an Advil and the pain went away and the weird thing that I only get severe pains for the first day of my period. Every other day is regular & I can manage. Overall, I know my period is not "normal", but if you have any suggestions I'm all ears! :)
I experience close to the same thing. I have horrible cramps the first 2 days though. As in I'm weeping on the toilet for hours. Which is why, even though I know BC is terrible, I am strongly considering it. :/ What did you decide?
the placebo pills are actually there to keep you in the habit of taking a pill. Plus make sure your hormone balance stays level (hence the body doesn't produce too much or not enough oestrogen).
I take the pill since I was 13, because of really bad acne. It really helped, I got clear skin! I didn't think much of it, and by the time I was 19 my mom told me that the pill I was taking was really strong and could damage my body; besides, my skin was fine for several years. So I said yes. Stoped taking it in february, and I didn't have my period for 5 months! I was really worried. It finally came in july, and by that time my skin got completly crazy. Acne all over my face, back and chest. Tried so many things, but it got so so so bad that I just went back on the pill again. And my skin cleared again! I really wanted to get off the pill but without it the acne comes. It's severe hormonal acne. And I get really scared of getting it again, but I also gets in my head that the pill is also really bad for my body. It just sucks. Really long comment, and sorry if the english is not the best. Just got to your channel, and so far I've been really liking it! You go girl. :)
I’ve been on The pill for a couple of months now & I too am crying about everything ( I’ve NEVER been an emotional person) I feel depressed, I can’t shake my sadness, and my anxiety feels like its coming back. The only good its done for me was clear my forehead acne, but idc about that I’m getting off these things.
Yes!!!! It puts women in charge of their bodies! Not just a bandaid! Makes women more knowledgeable, with out increasing chances of cancer, or depression!!!
Honestly, I just wanna thank you for this video because I was gonna start taking the pill since my period was also longer than 7 days! And my doctor made taking the pill sound so good but you changed my mind for the better lol
Thank you very much, I learned so much. Im been taking pills for years...😢 no more pills, hopfully I can reverse damage I did to my body. love and peace
I agree with you. My doctor didn't informed me about the risks of taking the pill. I had problems of migraine and depression, and I gained weight. I think that doctors shouldn't prescript the pill so easily
Well, I got the Nexplannon when I was 17 - had it for 6 years (it expires in 3) just never got it taken out. Finally got it taken out then went straight to birth control pills the next day. Well in about April I was watching a video abt the corona virus and got a anxiety attack (never had one b4) and now have anxiety so much. I just stopped taking my pill 3 days ago because I couldn’t handle the anxiety anymore, the heart palpations I’m still having suck. Feel SO LAZY. The anxiety is the worst. I will come back to this comment in 3 months or so, hopefully I’m better. Maybe I’m freaking myself out idk. 🥺☹️
I’ve actually noticed my periods have become lighter since I’ve gotten off of birth control, along with a lot more energy, higher sex drive, but since I stopped 2 months ago I’ve had bad breakouts
Actually regardless of the constant breasts bloating and pain, nausea, depression and UTI birthcontrol caused me vaginal dryness and sexual intercourse became so painful if anyone had the same issue pls tell me
I am quitting birth control after 5 years!!
I'm doing great, thanks for asking!!! Hormones feel more balanced, skin isn't freaking out anymore.. I'm glad I did it!
I'm going off of it tomorrow! Good to hear your skin isn't freaking out anymore, hopefully mine will stop, too!
It's a scam
To make you sick so they have to treat your symptoms caused by the drug they prescribed
This really connect the dots. Gaining weight in my legs, being grumpy, emotional and negative all the time! And I just didn't understand why! Well now I know. Thank you.
What are us men to do. Just stay single. Lots of women forced there men to get fixed like a dog and still cheat!
It always made me nauseous & down. It's going to be two months now since I stopped. I'm so glad.
And I think i should get off
@@drea_carrasco Talk to your doctor if you are having abnormal side effects. Effects should never be lower than mildly annoying
Coconut Curls I’m stopping it today. I realized that since I was taking it, I have gotten my depression/anxiety again and I have gallstones. Over it.
Dudeee!!!! I literally have been battling this.. I've been feeling so off... UTIs.. Very down.. Sluggish.
. Depressed.. And highly anxious! Im in a relationship so I felt the same as you did... I just can't stop! But gosh so many negative effects!!! I knew it wasn't just in my head.. Happy to hear all of these confirmations
Did you stop taking it? If so please tell me how you are! I’ve got the exact same thing going on and I feel so crazy! 👎🏼
@@lindseyh9048did you get off birth control? How are you doing now. I’m getting off birth control very soon
When I was taking the pill I was SO incredibly tired and had awful mood swings. I am a moody person as it is, though when on birth control I got to the point where I felt so low I did not want to live anymore. This is when I decided to come off of it. I have not had any extreme lows since.
Dylann Marie i thought i was the only one!!!
I am taking the birth control because I have pcod and I am feeling the same what should I do I don't understand I am new at this

this is amazing.
(It was a low estrogen dose btw)
so what happened after you've stopped?
I feel a lot better actually. I opted for getting a non hormonal copper iud inserted. I feel a lot safer, no pills and no hormones! :-)
did the deppression and anxiety stopped??
DawnsDarkPrincess has the depression and anxiety stopped? I’m really thinking about stopping and getting a copper IUD because I feel like it’s to blame for my feelings of depression
DawnsDarkPrincess I have all
These symptoms right now and I’m on the second month of birth control and planning on getting off after I finish this packet.
Honestly one of the best videos I've found on this issue!
+Miss Change Thanks! I hope more women start sharing their stories too!
Did your bloating go down?? I’m going through the same thing and I think I’m going to stop taking it.
@@gemimalove6671 okay thank you I’m on the pill because of acne and irregular periods not for a contraceptive so I decided to just stop taking the pill because I’ve be extremely bloated to the point where my clothes barely fit and I don’t think it’s worth it
What one were you on ?

+JohnLemon237 I started when I was 14 and got off at the age 19.*
ive only been on the pill for two weeks, it was supossed to help my mood, acne and my irregular period. so far ive just gained tons of weight, been super emotionally unstable, and worsened acne. just in TWO WEEKS!
Hope that helps
four years later update! i’ve been off the pill for two years. i found i’m estrogen dominate and sensitive to hormones.
@@sarahmankarious1833 So you are no longer on birth control? How are you balancing your hormones?
@@sarahmankarious1833 did u find that out thru blood tests? if so, what exactly did u get tested for?
Subscribed to you :)
Also, how did you have any sort of wierd mood swings when you came off the pill?
+lina loves I guess looking back I can't remember any mood swings in particular. I just remember being just such a happier person day to day. I do remember having a moment traveling abroad, about four months off the pill, where I was really emotional, but I'm sure the circumstance had a lot more to do with the emotions than my hormones. But you never know!!
This is why I'm so thankful for TH-cam. Thankyou for doing the research.
Same here. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video. I quitted just a week ago and I am still shocked about not caring for 14 years what I'm doing to my body :(. I hope there will be no sever consequences and I wish that the todays 16 years old are getting informed much better on the pros and cons of the pill.
I came off the pill when I noticed it had made me more depressed and gave me frequent headaches, when I came off it I had a period for a whole month.
Oh god
that sounds scary :(
I’ve been considering treating my body like the temple it is, I have sensitive skin and am very suseaptable to utis and yeast infections so I decided to stop using tampons, I looked that up and found your video, I made the final decision and then wanted to know if I should avoid birth control too, HOW FUNNY that you’d have videos on both, I think it’s settled, I’m never putting anything discovered/invented by a man in my body again.
💯💯💯💯💯👏👏👏👏
That sounds extreme
Smart girl and well spoken! Thanks for the information!
Are you doing better now that your off birth control?
Did you stop taking it? How are you doing now?
I'm coming off in one week and I can not wait!! Been on the combined pill for 3 months now due to irregular periods and oh my god it's been a rollercoaster!! I've been in denial that it could have been down to the pill but I've been doing research and I'm experiencing ALL the negative symptoms...weight gain, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and extreme fatigue. The pill works differently for every one but to anyone who is considering getting on it please also consider the negative effects as well as the positive! Just a heads up woman-to-woman X

The pill messed me up , I had really weird periods and my acne was terrible and I was always tired
I stopped taking hormonal birth control once I realized it only works when woman take it
LMFAOOOOO
Lol
The pill just makes every woman I've ever known chubby, moody and irrational
Zak's Life lol me
You ain’t wrong man…
I've been on the pill two or three times, in increments of 3 months. Finally, the last time that I quit I noticed a drastic change in my libido. I wasn't going out and sleeping with strangers or anything, but I got some strong feelings. I was seeing men, even just ones walking by, in a more sexual way. It was like a part of my brain was reactivated by quitting.
Same here girl 👌 people are not so unattractive anymore 😂
Corey Steen curious if it did help? Thanks!
I’d like to know if it worked because I am going through the same. I feel so uncomfortable too😭
Update please!!
Wat ended up happening???
The pill worked wonders for me. It made my sking clear up, I lost weight, and I wasn't so depressed anymore.
Jennifer Robles which pill did you take?
Crisy Palines the combo pill, with both hormones in it
Jennifer Robles did it make your period shorter?
Please share which pill you take. I've been on it for years(12) took a break, went back on but it's not having the same effect on my body it did before.
Jennifer Robles which pill? like the brand
Thank you for this. It was so helpful and informative. I was seriously stressing myself out. Your video is a blessing.
Hair, missed periods........You should get checked out for PCOS.
+missNily4 Love to hear this!
PLAQUE IN THE ARTERIES CAN MEAN YOU DIE. PRETTY SURE NOBODY HAS DIED FROM PLAQUE IN THE MOUTH IF THEY MAKE REGULAR USE OF THEIR TOOTHBRUSH.
Bill McGinnis did the deppression came back?? how do you feel now?
@@Miakruger i will look into retinol and tetinoin in the future, the purging also sucks but hey atleast the longterm results are worth it
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Thanks for breaking that down. More people need to knw about this.
Getting off the pill was such a difficult time for me (my hormones didn't balance out and my body went haywire) - but I won't EVER go back. It made me depressed as well and my mood swings were horrendous.
Can I ask what you do know to prevent pregnancy
Any update with your transition?? I’m taking my body off after 11 years..I’m nervousss
@@giventofly34 wow thats awesome to hear!! Thank you!
@@giventofly34 have you noticed any difference in your libido since quitting?
I have serious respect for you. Thank you for your honest and informative videos.
Mercadies Michele this happens to me also x
Yea I’m quitting this shit today Bc of that
Yes I’m glad I came across so many comments about it on videos. I love the internet for this
Yes. I thought I was loosing interest but I started thinking and taking the pill has given me anxiety and honestly really decreased my sex drive
Mercadies Michele “disconnected you your boyfriend and low sex drive” OMG yes that’s me! I feel so bad for my partner 😭
I'm off the pill for 2 months now!!! So happy!!! Best decision I have ever made
I recently have been thinking that my birth control is the source of all my problems.
Listen to your body and hope everything works out for you
Birth control made my skin clear, made me choose when I wanted a period...etc so wonderful.
Grecia Cuervo was your period irregular periods
You are amazingly intelligent and funny without trying . I subscribed girly!!
Thankyou so much for posting this video! Very educational and this helped me decide on stopping the minipill
med student here giving some perspective: doctors don't explain everything bc the average person wouldn't understand what they're even talking about. something that we study for years can't just be explained in simple terms in 5 minutes...you'd need a full on powerpoint and visuals and terms :)) and actually, the chance of breast cancer is very VERY slim. it actually protects against endometrial & ovarian cancer
Thank you for the knowledge. Ppl should be aware and do as much research as possible
The thing is, we should't take everythig at face value
You are the most educated young woman I have come across in quite some time! I have a feeling I will be binge watching all of your videos!
Thank you so much for your video! Extremely helpful and refreshing take on birth control, really needed to hear what you had to say.
Awesome as always! Keep up the good work, and remember to STAY AWESOME!
Great video! I'm glad you are talking about this!
Im been taking pills for years...😢
no more pills, hopfully I can reverse damage I did to my body.
love and peace
It seems crazy to me, that somebody would think that hormones do not affect behaviour in meaningful ways.
I’ve actually noticed my periods have become lighter since I’ve gotten off of birth control, along with a lot more energy, higher sex drive, but since I stopped 2 months ago I’ve had bad breakouts
You are awesoooome!!!
Can't wait to watch all your videos! 💖
Actually regardless of the constant breasts bloating and pain, nausea, depression and UTI birthcontrol caused me vaginal dryness and sexual intercourse became so painful if anyone had the same issue pls tell me
