Shell rules:
1. Download the shell off the gallery and turn it into whatever you want!
2. The only "rule" is that the existing exterior walls must remain the same. So the "shell" of the building must stay, but you can add anything else!
3. Foundations, platforms, wall height changes, patios, balconies, roofs, interior walls, etc. are all fair game! Add whatever you want, just don't change or move any of my existing walls!

She’s always been super inclusive and accessible for all players which I love. Especially since she tries to do a lot of base game builds and stuff
@@xavierplymptonstongue54 yes!! I sadly can't say this about polish Sims community, as a polish person myself. I see a lot of players who play longer and are so very aggressive and will just laugh you all over because you don't know something or your first home looks like big square and I'm always trying to help new players!! We all were "new" once and didn't knew everything we know now so even if I need to repeat myself like 1000 times I still will just to be a little bit more inclusive for them

Dream Home Landscaper. Hear me out--it's like Dream Home Decorator but instead of remodeling homes you re-landscape them. The pack includes bushes, shrubs, flowers, small potted trees or saplings, some new terrain paints, a couple of arbors, rocks, and the ability to create water features like waterfalls.
This sounds like a “dream”😂

What if the theme of the next kit was "lilsimsie Kit" and it's just everything Kayla wants? Curtains, beds, bushes etc. lol. She got them to name cow plants, she can do anything! 😂

Honestly, with how they’ve been working with simmers for some of the kits, I’m surprised we don’t have like, a blue suburban kit.

I’d love to see you build something really out of your comfort zone, like a retro mid-century home in Del Sol Valley or some Danish pastel vibes to stray away from the blue swatches.
My mom is in the hospital right now and we are unsure how long she will have to stay, so I've told her I will download and help her learn to play the Sims 4 on her laptop! We may soon gain a 51 year old new simmer! (Disclaimer: My mom is fine, she's having a leg/mobility issue but it isn't life-threatening so she will come home sometime!)

Then, I won't be alone! I turn 52 today & because of Kayla, I got interested in the Sims & just downloaded it yesterday. My teenaged boys think I'm crazy!!! It just seems like so much fun to create houses & decorate them. I'm excited to figure this out.
@@slhoya1 Cool! I’m actually 10, so I might be one of the youngest simmers! And I’m actually pretty good, I even surprise myself! Anyways I’m deciding to do this challenge, and this is my first time doing one of her shells, and I’m not new… so it MIGHT be a little bit easier for me than people who just got this game. Sims 4 wasn’t the first Sims I played, I had Sims 3 and me and my mom would play it together, now me and my mom Play Sims 4 together!
Once I get good at shell challenges it’s over for y’all 💀

Did it as my first build and it was harder than expected... Made me be even more amazed by the builds Simsie does.
This was my first shell challenge and I completely agree. But I also realized that looking at images of the house type I want to build is the most important thing. It just helps you get a clearer image of the build.

I said this when they said the game was going free, and I'll say it again: I am SO looking forward to seeing what creativity and creations this new influx of players will bring! This challenge has taught me that everyone sees and makes something unique and interesting, so the more the merrier. So glad you made a welcome challenge, SUPER EXCITED for the tours down the line!!
A series of creator themed kits would be really cool. Lilsimsie kit, James Turner kit, Dr. Gluon kit, Deligracy kit! have each creator pick a limited number of things they can have in a kit and create one revolving around what they think would be the most important thing added to the game. Now these are kits I would buy!

I just started this 3 days ago. It's my first build. From the outside it actually looks a lot similar to Kaylas🤣 Probably because she is the one who introduced me to the Sims and therefore I kinda "think" and build like her since I have no own experience 🤣 It took me 6hrs just to get the rooting, Windows etc down and honestly I hate it😭 It's still clipping but even with tutorials I can't fix it...

Wow! I actually just submitted mine to the gallery last night and it's crazy how we did a lot of the same things, like the balcony off the top floor, the partial wrap around porch in the back, the clothing shelves upstairs, and the desk nook in the bedroom. I promise I didn't look at your build first! Wow! Of course, yours is 100x better, though! I've had the game since release but never really built anything before and it was a ton of fun to do a shell challenge. Thanks, Kayla! 💜

Simsie, you should give us a roofing tutorial like all the different ways you can use the roof shapes and which is best for certain weird spots stuff like that if you haven’t already! I suck at roofing 😭

They did make the Blooming Room kit, would love to see that just for outside! Literally just plants and maybe planter boxes or some gardening clutter. Would definitely buy that.
I definitely agree with the kit idea. Like imagine having a hair kit for more hairstyles or having a baby kit (when the new babies come out) for more kinds of playpens or cribs. Kinda like toddler stuff.
I love shell challenges! I like decorating (outside and inside), but am really bad at finding an interesting shape, so these really help me out
I think an outdoor plant kit could be great. In addition to the plants, they could toss in a few trees, rocks, maybe a fence and call it a landscaping kit. They would get a sale from me!
I love shell challenges for the sole purpose of the first like 5 minutes being Kayla saying “don’t touch my walls”

I’ve been commenting a few places but here is where it seems to be picking up on it the most
I doubt they'd revamp teens now that the highschool pack is out, so my fingers are crossed for preteens. That adorable awkward stage between when a sim looks 10 to when they look 18 lol maybe some day we'll get our wish. After all, babies are getting a new life stage so I have hope.

After watching tons of your videos, i felt like building houses was easy. Truthfully, you’ve shown so much information that i didn’t know about that made it so much harder. i am baffled at how easy you make amazing roofs and shells. Like, it actually looks like a house. I essentially go room by room to create, i never start with full walls or a plan in mind, which usually ends in creating one big, boring house. I am grateful for you always, but you’ve definitely challenged me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things. well done.
I want to compile all of Lilsimsie's blue suburbans into Newcrest, and then just add sims there to make a neighborhood. Easy way to make a whole suburbia in an hour.

I really wanna do this! I always played the Sims my whole life and always build a basic box or uploaded a home but thanks to you I really started to build homes myself and I do actually enjoy to look into detail and stuff. You really inspired me to build🤭

BASE GAME KIDS FURNITURE UPDATE!!! id love if they made new swatches that look like the family just re painted the swatches (give me all white, all light pastels, etc. even a swatch that is all chipped and patchy for like the 4th kid (or 100th))

Thank you for this!! This is my first ever shell challenge and I was so excited to join. I've been watching your videos for a few months now and got the Sims 4 this week (like many lol). The existence of the gallery/being able to share builds with others and just the sense of community is something I never knew about before finding your channel, and definitely not way back when I played the Sims 2. I tried my best with this build and I'm happy with the result as a newbie, it was a lot of fun and also thanks for your tips and tricks video, that helped a lot!
I started playing Sims 4 a few weeks ago about 20 years after was playing Sims 1&2. When I found these shell challenges, I found my calling! I'm about 15 hours deep into the Dino Shell build! Circle one next!
I'm actually a new follower of yours here, but I've been downloading your shells for a while! Thank you for doing this. I'm really bad at making the actual houses and often gut other houses or downloads to revamp the inside. I'm so stoked that my favorite way to design and build is your actual challenge instructions! :D
I am HERE for the plant rant 🙌 the simplicity update for some more variety in things like beds and bushes, and fabrics, but mostly landscaping - I feel is such a need for hard-core simmer. I only build in sims, I would cry with a landscaping update 🥹🥹🥹
I'm with you on your ideas for the things we need more of in the game, base game preferably. Definitely curtains and counters & cabinets.
I’ve been playing sims for a while but this is the first Shell Challenge I’ve ever done and it was actually so fun, I hated doing the roof tho 😭
I just spent the whole week creating a mansion in sims 3 using your tips. I thought I was just awful at interior design and had no imagination but when I actually tried and used references it turned out really well. I think it's ironic that the person who has been a big inspiration to my sims building is also the one who never does the style I do. I love your builds, they are always so cute, but I can't build cute cottages to save my life. My style is romantic modern, and you don't like making modern builds. I have to say tho, whenever you make modern builds, they look awesome! I hope I will get as good at landscaping as you are, it's the thing I haven't practiced much yet.
Kayla, could you make a video about the switch from origin to the ea app? I feel like it would be very useful.

I have been wanting to do one of these shell challenges and I downloaded the shell yesterday and I've nvr built before, so the roof took me an embarrassingly long time xD but its finally looking like a house and I have learned so much by doing this.
I would looooove a landscaping kit and I bet it would be pretty successful because I think the lack of variety is such a common complaint. It’s something that could benefit literally like every single lot except maybe apartments, totally worth it!
Pls don't feel the need to apologise for creating houses that you enjoy making, I can tell you always try so hard to keep us all happy you're the sweetest ilysm if people don't like the styles you create there's plenty of other videos with different styles out there💜

Hoo boy. I uploaded my shell (my first time uploading anything!) before finishing this video because I wanted to see what I would make without getting ideas from here, and WOW but mine ended up so wildly different. I can't wait to see the shell tours. :D
100% agree that we need more green bushes and more hedges. That is a pack I would genuinely be super thankful for, cottage living has my favorite plants and we need more like them

I think a landscaping set would be awesome!! They could include variations of the same colorway too that way everything doesn't look so uniform when using the same color. Like 2 variations of the same pink flower bush with the flowers in different spots, and omg 2 variations of the same bush with different leafy branches/shapes 🤩
Regarding swatches, with the new "official modding" platform they just announced, there is the opportunity for infinite recolors that could be available. If that platform is integrated into the gallery, that could really open up a lot of possibilities for decorating.

Trying this one at the moment for my first ever shell challenge, as well as my first go at attic rooms guess we'll see how it turns out!
I use the base game and I wish there were more customizable curtains and more changeable, like higher and shorter curtains that fits the windows, because a lot of the curtains don't really fit the window and then it looks kinda off. And I'm amazed by how fast, very detailed and professional Kayla build such houses. I'm very impressed. I wish I could build such houses too. Like I build a house and I wanted to have a garden area for planting plants, veggies and fruits but I'm a noob at Sims 4 and Sims in general, so I have chosen a medium sized plot but I wanted a big one but I couldn't because I had not so much money.
Then I bought that medium sized plot on Willow Creek and then I had to cheat a lot to have more money to build the house, but I wanted a garden but then I ended up building the house without garden, I just have that little space on front for 2 plants and I tried to use the stairs in front of the house but it doesn't work for me, maybe one needs a special fence or something.

3:36 You added walls for the chimney, though they were half walls, you added multiple to make a full wall. So I guess that technically follows your rules, following that, then it seems one could change other aspects of the shell with multiple stacked half walls. Just pointing it out since people could take advantage of that.
Regarding curtains, I tend to use commands to reduce the size and finely choose where to put them.
Curtains are the biggest pain. A textiles pack would be amazing! I wouldn't mind one for landscaping, either.
My issue with furniture swatches isn't necessarily the colors so much as the complete lack of texture. Flat primary colors just make things look cartoony

The thing about base game builds just turning blue on the inside is SO REAL. I only have one pack so most of my builds are just base game, and 80% of the interiors i make are blue and beige LMFAO.
I have to be honest, I’m physically repulsed by the idea of putting a roof on this thing. On anything. God I hate roofs
I love how simsie complains about not enough pastels, but I'd never buy anything that was pastel for my real house. My house is either deep royal blue or bright colors lol

I want a lilsimsie kit, where she just gets all the items she's been asking for. I think she speaks for all of us when she says we need more plants, beds and curtains.
Ohhh, I couldn't have agreed more with "Give me more curtains, rugs and greenery". It's a struggle.
I've been trying to convince my boss to let me teach a Sims club with my middle schoolers since the Sims 4 is free now and WHEN I finally crack him gonna have my students do the Simsie Welcome Shell Challenge!
I think you need to push yourself with some color challenges. My friends and I do challenges frequently to help us break out of habits and some of the ones that I really enjoyed were: color by room, color group spin (you build color groups and have to stick to them for the whole build or by the room), and another color challenge was to pick 4 colors you never use and those are the only colors you can use but the builds always have to still look really good and livable.
They could call the packs “BASICS” and then whatever it’s for like “BASICS KITS”
“SIMS BASICS: Beds” “SIMS BASICS: Plants” and then just have great artwork to make the pack look appealing because I would ABSOLUTELY buy those!!
The blue flower bush w/ the white flowers around it I think is now considered a simsie special.
