The community lots are hard because most of them you see in little strips of multiple shops, not just one standalone building. But, that also means you can do whatever you want as long as it looks cool, so it can be a hindrance or advantage depending on what your vision is.

Just finished my build attempt. This was my first Shell Challenge and it was really fun to start with a shell and a slight idea on what I wanted and seeing how it just took over the build. The hole in the open reminded me of small alleyways in cities so I made a Dive Bar that you could take one look at and know how bad it smells. I would definitely do more build challenges!
I ran through so many ideas for this, ended up with a cute little library (a "natural pond" pool with fish and murky water for the pit) and the basement is a storage place with a hidden little hangout spot where the neighborhood kids hang out. i actually quite like it though the exterior looks kinda weird

I just love that Logitech specifically asked for a shell challenge and are giving out sims packs! I know it's just a tactic to make money, but it's still super cool that they were involved enough in the sims stuff to know that shell challenges are a thing instead of just asking for her to sponsor them in general.
I really need a no mistake challenge using one of the shell challenges.

The thumbnails to these are always so funny because she's looking at it with such distress and horror as if she wasn't the one who specifically designed it to be this terrible. A real "well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions" moment, only to rinse and repeat like it's shampoo in the shower.
Honestly this has been my favorite shell so far! the "giant hole" made me do something different and I think it looks great and adds a lot! thank you for the future build idea! :D It really made a very natural bubble tea and thrift store lot (which is hard in my opinion.) If anyone needs ideas I'm Selaanya on the gallery, feel free to take any/all ideas if it helps your own build! :) I just love seeing all the creative ways people use these shells!
I was actually having a great time working around the weirdness of this challenge. I made the pit into a fountain pool, with windows into the basement bedroom for light! Hopefully I'll finish in time to submit for your showcase video!

With this specific one it's not the roofing really, it's the fact that the floating part is over a giant freaking hole

Started this shell challenge a couple days ago and wasn’t sure how it would go, but it’s turning out to be one of my favorite builds I’ve done in a while. I love seeing how everyone makes the shells into something totally different from one another. It shows the creativity of this little community.
This was thoroughly enjoyable to attempt. I didn't attempt a spa, but am kinda happy with my little strange gallery-slash-cafe.
In the unlikely event that you look at it, I swear the fire extinguisher placement isn't a call-out to your legacies - a lot of museums seem to place fire extinguishers near restrooms.
You should make shell challenges with curved walls! I think it would be very interesting

The most cruel shell challenge is using any (big) EA shells.
Blue is calming and Kayla's anxious brain is drawn to it. Also it's a pretty color lol
I just built a new PC and when getting my keyboard I saw the aurora collection and got their aurora collection keyboard! I love it so much and the cloud arm rest is so cute. I did not get the whole set and unfortunately didn't realize they had a sims deal. Still love the keyboard and recommend it! each key can change color and you can decorate the back lighting to match your PC build (like I did).
I found the shell actually quite easy! I put some stairs leading into the hole on the outside and put a door leading to the basement which I made a reading nook.
I'm digging this intimate, boutique vibe. Like, you didn't just go to yoga class, you had a private flow session with Monique and then got a seaweed wrap infused with a personalized blend of essential oils. Very upscale indeed.

Yeah I stopped watching because of it. Irritating having that dropped in the middle like that. If she'd started saying that the video was sponsored that would have been fine (you are meant to announce right at the beginning). Though really she probably should have titled the video "Logitech sponsored me to create a shell challenge" in the interest of transparency.
you can also use the hole to plant trees, that would look really cool tho I think. It's like a terrarium with it's own eco system.
This is the first shell challenge I am trying to participate in and I am struggling a lot haha! But it is a lot of fun. :)
I've been wanting a new keyboard, unfortunately the Aurora is way outside my $50 keyboard budget :( I want to try this challenge though. When I saw the thumbnail I wondered if I could stick a pool in basement hole, I see that is good to go! Nice build Simsie!

I like Shell challenges but the hardest part of them are the roofs. It's hard to put roofs on parts of it that are small and stuff. How did you make the hole in the ground a pool? I know you can build like a pond using a terrain tool thing. Anyway, will have to try this. I think I'd use the hole as a sunken patio or something. Your kitty is so cute. My cats like to climb on my lap when I'm on the computer. lol
I loved the shell and found it very easy to use so no problems at all, it was great!
My main takeaway from this is that Simsie needs a day at the spa

I just finished my attempt (I'm Cei-Ellem in the gallery), and I did the crazy thing of EXTENDING that one tile box/column, among other things. Had a weird graphical glitch with my glass roof which was probably the biggest challenge. Oh, and EA saying my description had a disallowed word that took me forever to figure out (apparently, "nuts" only has one possible meaning; I changed it to "wild"). This was so much fun!
I started one, put it down for a bit, and today I want to go back and finish it and I was considering also extending the column, so this gave me the motivation to try it~

Okay so I actually make builds like this all the time. I love having an outdoor entrance into the basement. A lot of places have this sort of layout! I’ve seen a lot in Japan and my most downloaded (with almost 1k downloads) house actually looks like this!

Okay but I looove the small cramped shell because it feels very authentic to me! It feels like they're making as much use out of what space they have rather than it being custom built!!
Without looking at the build, I ended up building something similar in shape, including the pool! Love the way you used the platforms to create the front signage. This was a lot of fun!
I use Lilsimsie's Newcrest Spa I believe she did when the spa day refresh happened. I have a whole number of her Newcrest builds that I use.
Why did i immediately think of the That’s So Raven episode where Raven and her mom go to the spa and that famous lady is there and they end up with her dog on accident… no? Just me? 😂

I love this shell actually. I wish I had something to play on so I could participate, but my brain went straight to terraforming a hill and bringing the shell up. Like the basement would still be a basement, but the hole could be accessible out the side of the hill with an archway and patio kinda area with like an apartment in the basement.
It just seems like it'd be so fun to make. Honestly if someone wants to take the idea and run with it, I have no issue with that.
I'm definitely not good at building, but I'd love to try and do this! Just for clarification: you mean that the basement isn't visible, but the hole is and functions kinda like an entrance right? But the hole is open on top, im not sure if it's possible otherwise
@@tinki4704 yes kind of like that, where the hole is visible but kind of partially in the hill so at least one of those walls can act as an entrance to that underground area

Currently working in this shell, I love it!
I’ve been to a spa that was a stand alone building. It was a health resort at the mountains to be more precise. The spa was located in a separate building a few meters from the hotel. It had a somewhat modern style with a rustic touch. All wood, stone and glass.
Me: Ooh this shell looks really fun, I love doing those basement levels that are open to the outside, and that hole would be great for a kitchen pantry

I built a ♡Base Game Only♡ modern house for a small to medium sized family. I like building for our friends the base game only squad to play with (and other people who have expansions packs too) because I like imagining it being a part of someone's very first sim stories.
Does anyone know which lots Simsie will choose to explore on twitch?? I can see there are a lot of them up now and they look incredible! If it's based on visit/popularity I don't think mine will make it, but I really enjoyed this one!

Beauty therapist in training and it’s actually not weird to have a bath, in my school we have a wet room with a corner bath with jets, a Vichy shower ( therapist showers you on a bed usually for scrubs) and a normal shower to remove body masks

This build is aesthetically gorgeous, but in practice, those changing lockers in the middle of the corridor, yoga and massage tables in plain view and pool with the view of the street are horrendous concepts ahaha

It was indeed a challenge! But i got to build 4 Community Spaces (Base-Game + Eco-Lifestyle) to fill up my Willow Creek shop/gym/lounge lots with this shell !!

What about covering it up? Like if I put a floor down over the hole, would that count? I didn't touch the walls itself, just covered the hole.
I was wondering this too, I put stairs on the outside and used a platform to cover the rest of the hole
I think you could easily make that into a duplex. The basement could become like a separate studio apartment that can be accessed by putting some stairs in the hole.

I made a 2x3 bathroom then I just used a single bed and a divider to kind of make a bedroom thing. the kitchen was pretty small and I had it next to the door. and I had a small couch across from the sink and above the sink I had a TV :) I could give you my gallery name if you want to check it out !!
