Hi Laurence great and very fair review!! I'm the owner of the black carbon pedals with the LED on thier Instagram. Its was thanks to your previous review of the pedals that i decided to purchase them. I also agree with the gas pedal being a little light for my liking and suggested it to Simforge which they have acknowledged. A lot can be said about how the guys at Simforge actually listen to your average customer its obvious tgey truley care about bettering thier product. As for there after sale customer service, thus far these guys have been on another level. If only other companies were half as quick to reply and helpful as these guys have been.
As a fellow Sim Racer I very much appreciate Long-Term Reviews of new products out in the market. For me, LTR videos carry more weight and value than first impressions, unboxings and general day one 'oooh shiny shiny' videos. I hope you do more LTR videos as I believe you handled this one very well. Well structured, factual and opinionated without favoritism, malice nor bias. This video has certainly raised the profile of these pedals and they are now much closer to being a purchase if anyone has doubts. Good job, well done! 00:25 I think 2.5 months between first impressions and this video constitutes a little more than just the 'last few weeks'!
hahaha yeah I've been testing/reviewing other pedals and products since also :) and we had a christmas period too. I like to give products the right attention. It's a lot of work that I'll never get paid for but it's just a hobby for me and it's amazing that people find the value in the content I create.
Between your videos and Barry's, I order a set of Simforge. They just showed up yesterday, and I am blown away by them, and feel that I most definitely got my money's worth and then some. Now, I just got to get them dialed in where they feel perfect. I got the brake feeling amazing. But, the clutch throw is way too long, so I need to close that up a bit. But, anyone considering these, I highly recommend. They are beautiful pedals, and feel like they outlive me. Oh, as of the June 2022 Batch, they still have the bare wires for the brake, that have to be screwed into the board. So, they haven't updated that yet. FYI.
I hope SimForge offer the new revisions as purchasable upgrades to existing owners. I wouldn't mind having that plug and play load cell and that updated circuit board that deals with interference better. In any case, I'm still really enjoying my MK1's.
Thanks for this excellent and informative review. I have a Trak Racer TR8 Pro so with a pedal plate so these should fit nicely. I bought these pedals based on your review. Ta.
Finally! Can't wait to hear your thoughts Edit: Great review, always appreciate the edits in the video explaining discoveries during the process. I didn't expect such a glowing review from these, if I'm honest. As much as nice and shiny premium high end sim racing gear is, I really like what these guys stand for RE: constant improvement and affordability. A real DIYer's dream. I'm personally going to wait until the global distribution is sorted (Canada does not favour int'l duties) and by then I imagine these will be even more polished. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Simagic pedals too.
yeah interesting stuff. I think DD materials are a lot more expensive than pedals so it's more difficult to be competitive unless you create the servo motors yourself
Really enjoyed this great review Laurence. I have had these pedals for over 4 months now and still absolutely love them. I upgraded from CSL Elite Loadcell pedals, as I wanted hall sensor units. So worth the price. I did have a few fits and starts to get them calibrated, but once done, they continue to perform extremely well! I highly recommend.
@Riko Suave I have the csl elites with load cell because I got them for a price I couldn’t say no to, but they feel horrible to me. No matter what config I put them in, the brake just feels bad and inconsistent. Also, I have to use the top of my foot to make sure the pedal flexes enough for the location of the load cell. What are some stand outs with the sim forge in comparison?
@@David-ym2vk First, they have a great range of customization, with both the spring loading and the bumpers supplied. You can angle the pedal to get just the right feel. I have adjusted all of the pedals, from adding more resistance with the throttle to just the right dead zone on the brake pedal. I tend to keep my foot lightly on the brake, so needed to set it up accordingly.
They look excellent, absolutely excellent. One thing you said reminded me of shh shifter(no I'm not obsessed after getting it 😂) is when you said it's a product that still evolves and the problems get ironed out as they keep revising it. You get a great product now and it gets improved further down the road. The pricing though is a bit over the place as you get the initial 400 dollars, but you have to factor the price of shipping and all the tax. It may detract a bit from their value, but still keep them competitive. It reminds me a bit of the "DD wheel from fanatec for only 350 euro", but if you account for all the things to enjoy it fully and shipping, it's double of that. Aside of that, they seem excellent and tons of adjustability is never a bad thing. I really like it when products are made with the approach of "adjust it however you want to your own preferences" instead of "this is the only way to use it". The support approach of not having to ship the whole unit back is also excellent and consumer friendly. Really impressive set of pedals, and absolutely beautiful in that colour scheme.
Would like to see where these factor in after shipping, taxes and import. Like you say, it’s going to end up costing more than the price would suggest, and it might even get to a point where you go “sod it, I’ll save a bit more and get the Heusinkvelds”
Lol. This is exactly what happened to me I was about buy these then realised that once you factor in the additional costs you may as well just go the Heusinkveld option
Sprints end up being over £800 (including baseplate and VAT) before shipping from demontweeks. Also worth noting that other than the software, I think these simforge pedals are better than sprints… there… I said it… well i haven't done a side by side but I think they're definitely on par. overall the price probably allows the simforge to get the win.
I prefer these to the sprints personally. The base plate is better. I haven’t tried the sprints with the latest elastomers. I also prefer the look of the simforge.
I bought the Mk1's but am waiting on a new pedal plate from Trak Racer for my rig. They feel like a significant step up from Fanatec ClubSports for those who don't wanna break the bank. Thanks for the suggestions configuring the brake pedal I prefer a firmer feel so I can "stand" on the brakes with some force. Hopefully it still provides a decent amount of travel and granularity that I want. I wish the load cell connections were plug n play. Not sure why SimForge couldn't have developed an easy connector but its a minor annoyance for us early buyers. Cheers!
The connector is simply because to allow diy minded user to buy replacement loadcell from ebay or any online china express shop for quick, cheap and easy repair... Definately allowing more freedom of pedal maintenance
Thanks for a great review. These pedals have been on my radar but I have been waiting for your review and one other pedal set to make a decision on which on to buy. I do have one question that you may or may not be able to answer. Can the pedals be purchased without the base plate? I am currently not running on a profile rig so using what looks like a great base plate and profile base is almost useless in my setup. I don't see that as a negative tho. In the future I am thinking about a profile rig, but as of now I run on a prebuild rig.
I can’t seem to find some ideas for the power supply you recommended not sure if they’ve fixed this issue on the newer sets of pedals as I’m looking to get these now
Would you recommend these over Fanatec's V3s? I'm looking to get into simracing and I'm planning out my build, and I feel like the level of adjustability in these provide more than some of the bells and whistles (like the vibration in the gas pedal) of the V3. Lmk what you think!
Most people I've read about that currently have or have used the v3's say the vibration motors on the pedals are undersized and they're too small to add enough substantial feel. The v3's also have a lot less adjustability than the simforge pedals. At the current price ranges of each, the simforge pedals are the next step up from the v3's in price and quality. Above them is the $800+ price range where everything increases but diminishing returns comes into play.
im really bumped about these pedals brake, im using two blacks and one yellow and i just feel almost nothing, no input its like im pushing a wall, i can see the brake moving all the way in but i just dont feel that in my foot even without shoes
They're not really priced lower than reasonable. India is typically very restrictive about international trade, otherwise we would see many more cases like simforge making a lot of hardware more competitive in pricing. They have succeeded despite the existance of the bureaucratic hurdles in the country, so kudos to them
Thanks. Bought this after your last review. Have had no issues. New to sim racing so i can't compare. The brake feels like it has little movement to me. We'll see what i think as time goes on. may try your setup on the brake.
@@LaurenceDusoswa obviously not, if it works it works, but there are a multitude of various rubber tubings that do the exact same job at the exact same price and don't look as tacky as a bit of garden hose 😂
