My toon is light and sits level and pretty much level at cruising speed. I learned that fuel consumption is much less at a lower cruising speed. Great looking camper quiet too. I'd have to have one wee window next to the helm and maybe a rear view mirror right forward of said window. Toons are great Lots of creative options to build. Great job, love it.
That's a nice little boat buddy. I like how the roof slants down in the back to shed water. Flat roofs are a pain. It launches easy and loads easy. I need to mount some pole holders on the rails today like you've done good job!
I'd move the helm station to the forward section of the cabin. That will give you better visibility and will move more weight to the front, since you are sitting lower in the stern.
I sure it been suggest perhaps moving the wheel more forward to open more space. I believe a wheel on the roof maybe a wheelhouse would be pretty cool. I have to say that your boat is already badass thought. Great video and thank you!
Just purchased an 18' Pontoon and about to start a project similar to yours.... Great job.... My plan is to enclose mine a little more then yours , so we can spend the night... These Damm Mosquitos here in the southern of Louisiana will carry you away.... Thanks for the Video....
That’s nice you should build yourself a storage bin under the front build it out of steel or his way you will put more weight on the front not counting what you put in there!!
Cool shantyboat I like how you left the original railing on for support, the only thing I would change would to have moved the steering console up to the front of the cabin for better visibility. I like the third pontoon idea someone suggested but that's more money and we all know boats are money pits.
I would have definitely moved the steering and engine controls as far forward as possible just for visibility. You could add a FLIR camera system which wouldn’t cost much to get 360 situational awareness, especially at night. You might not see flotsam or jetsam in the water until it was too late. And all that under hull wiring needs to be in conduit. . I would add an anchor and about 100’ of 1”chain, which would help trip the boat. You need a vhf radio, a compass and a fishfinder so you have an idea what’s under you.
I think it’s an awesome boat! As far as the stern being low, look for a 10 ft “tri-toon” to install in the middle at the stern and that will fix your problem. That should be enough to level it out to match the front of the boat.
On the side where you drive the boat I would put a window like at the height when you are sitting down the window I'd make it 12"x15" just a small one so that way you don't have a blind spot
your wiring is exposed underneath. if tree branch or log were to go in between the pontoons, it could rip your wiring out effecting your operation ?? besides putting all that beer and ice up front should level out da boat ??
O hell yeah. I plan my float test this weekend and next week on the river , starting east of Pittsburgh PA. hope to see ya on the river. Ill start my channel then . That makes three of us. Lol
I like it. I would consider adding a 3rd toon in the middle to bring the rear up a little bit more but it looks like it may be just fine after burning off some fuel weight.
I would relocate the fuel tank more to the front and find a way to distribute your dead weight a little more. This advice comes from a man that was in the Navy for 17 years and work on boats both large and small. I was a hull technician. That meant I did all the repairs.
Really nice project, really nice job. But, check the rules for inland waterways, I think now that you have added the structure your anchor light (stern) needs relocated. It must be visible for 360 degrees if I remember my boating years.
Looking good. I think you need to worry now about side coming wave. They are rough on a tall pontoon structures. My pontoon was wider version and tall as well. Those side waves made my kids scream xaxaxa because it was rocking left to right to left few times pretty good.
D- KUSTOMS GARAGE being docked . or anchored . what about weights hanging on rope in the water on both sides for balance not touching the bottom. sailboats have weighed keels to prevent roll overs. I think that would work .you couldn't use them under way. another option would be weight in the pontoons. especially for shanty boats built on pontoons. balance thiers lots of options you could use maybe out riggers pontoons. catamaran style. you could also raise them to the side when you trailer. I've seen vids on thoes hydraulic ones. But thiers options thier also.
Red on Right Returning. Really enjoy your videos. Hope you start giving us some more action video while you are cruising. You are a great storyteller but just talking to the camera gets old. Take a lot of video and then do voice-over. The Mississippi is a tough place to boat. You did really well for your first adventure. Bring it over to Florida, I would recommend Blackwater River or St. Johns River. We do it every year.
I know your concern on how it would float. I was also surprised on how my floated. I just went through that with mine. I think Coastguard approved is half submerged. So you are still alright. Do you still have the motor mounted at the same height as before.
I lifted mine to the bottom holes because of the weight would be pushing the boat down. It runs great on the water the motor is not so deep and causes a drag. And the motor won't touch bottom loading and unloading.
@@bigalsoutdoorexcursions1885 thanks for the input I am going to look at where mine is I might just move it thanks man I love it when people gives me new ideas I never would have thought about this
My Shanty boat is 20 ft long and I have a 8x16 building that we built on it. Out of metal studs and 3/8 T 111 siding with metal roof. I have a 21gal fuel tank, 1 battery in the back. With 40hp 3 cyl Yamaha
Hey Jeff welcome aboard and thank you for subscribing to my channel. and yes the back end did set a little lower than it did I put a little over 3,000 lbs. on the boat with the structure it was heavy but did float well so I went with it.I am going to do the trip again next year with a different set up and smaller shack stay tuned.
PLEASE....PLEASE....PLEASE.....Fasten front of boat to trailer BEFORE pulling it out of the water. NOT fastened it has ability to break loose from trailer thus damaging your boat. So suggests JimInCincy.
yes it is a 24 foot boat and I can't remember how much weight it was but I do remember I was 2000 lbs over what I should have been but it floated great as you can see
Yes we put it on a trailer and drove it 100 miles to Hannibal, MO and put it in the Mississippi River and then we loaded it back up in St. Louise, MO and drove it back 250 miles back home with a Ford F-150 pulled it like it wasn't even back there

I like how you have completed the finish product, very nice work.
Time to add that third pontoon, Will provide some much-needed buoyancy.
Did a great job creating your home on the water vessel!

Looking forward to the build you are going to video it right if you have any questing I'm here I will try my best to answer them good luck
I was thinking to build something like that for years but I got no time. Maybe I’ll do once when my kids grown up. ;)
you should don't wait the older I get the faster time goes
take time..........just do it. I am starting mine this week, I bought a 24 ft pontoon boat today... Cannot wait to get started :)
Nice job on the build.
Enjoy!
Looks awesome
Setting fairly good in the water
I agree a third pontoon would be awesome
It also would be a safety net if one of you r
What a beast of a boat!! I would love something like that if I lived on a lake and could leave it in the water. Towing not so much! Nice job!!!
Thank you so much stay tuned I have something big to show everyone

Where I live all the pontoon boats sit a little lower in the back. I don't think it's a big deal. Wow you're carrying a ton of fuel
On the side where you drive the boat I would put a window like at the height when you are sitting down the window I'd make it 12"x15" just a small one so that way you don't have a blind spot
I saw one built a smaller one and they put heaps of foam in the middle part between the outer pontoons, it was that expanding foam.
Good job, looks like a great floating camp.
your wiring is exposed underneath. if tree branch or log were to go in between the pontoons, it could rip your wiring out effecting your operation ?? besides putting all that beer and ice up front should level out da boat ??

I think your right
Shane Beaudrot Maybe a pontoon about a forth of the length would work in the middle like a charm.
Congratulations! Looks like you'll get to start ur trip when u planned. Have a safe trip.
Nice rig. I agree with the guy above move helm forward add window right next to is for visibility.

Hey Lewis you are right I can raise my stern light another 3 feet so it is higher than my structure.
Sweet build !!
Put 2 seats on the front and it would be a great fishing boat
why did you not rip all the old railing and stuff off? i would have put it more forward try to get level when empty
I think you will b ok ...if the front was down them you wound have a problem ..u always have to balance your load .
Congratulations. Job well done. Blessings.

Helm should be in bow.. Solid door needs plexiglass on bottom to observe how for docking etc. Visibility 1at rule of boating. Good job otherwise.
Thank you so much for the Comment You are right we are going to build it again Stay tune
Nice job!
Does the back end set lower than when it was just a regular pontoon boat?
Have you lost out on your trip yet?
Hey Jeff welcome aboard and thank you for subscribing to my channel. and yes the back end did set a little lower than it did I put a little over 3,000 lbs. on the boat with the structure it was heavy but did float well so I went with it.I am going to do the trip again next year with a different set up and smaller shack stay tuned.

Nice work!
1440 lb of fuel gas weighs about 6 pounds a gallon
I think it’s awesome
Thanks Ricky
Sitting low in the back, but not like a late 70's Cadillac full of hemgroids.
How long is it mine is 28 ft.
Mine is 24' Long
I like yours gives me hope for mine. Thank you.
Great job
I tell you what, that's good right there I don't care who you are

I did and I always do but thanks for the tip
Very nice, I want to do the very same thing. Thank you for the video.
Fine job
the wheel should be in the front of the boat and the kitchen should be in the middle of the boat
You are right I am changing it that way as we speak
good luck to you
Do you know the weight and is this a 24 ft boat?
