I want one of those houseboats so bad I can't see straight!!! A simple little house on the water and a little skiff for getting around; yeah, the wildlife will kill you (gators, moccasins, mosquitoes...), but what a way to go! Some fresh fish grilled on the porch in the evening, and somebody's probably playing music that you can hear half a mile away. Y'all are living my idea of paradise. You add that smell that comes from backwater. Top it off with ozone from the morning dew and the first breeze of the day and THATS the meaning of being "alive". Lol, there's way more to it, but I call that "tomorrow". Be well~

Makes me think of back where I grew up only I had to go off to play in one of Uncle Sam’s wars. I had just picked me up a brand new 12 ft. Jon-boat out of the Sears catalog with my railroad work money along with a 5-horse Gale outboard. Was thinking about finishing up with my 4-year hitch in the Navy and then moving back home to Savanna, Illinois. Then, life happened and I wound up in California for a long time before moving out of there. Landed here in Idaho after breaking my back working. Not complaining, just explaining. Just found this channel while watching Peter Novello’s channel. Thanks for all your posts! I get to live vicariously through these videos you make. Nothing like the sound of an outboard and that breeze blowing in your face!

The thing I miss the most about living in Louisiana is the fishing. I caught more fish in a little bayou next to the road then I ever have out in a boat on big lakes . Spent lots of time catching catfish and gar.

Love the houseboat vids. I grew up on a houseboat on the Alabama river. Btw, those clams (we called muscles in bama) are some of the best catfish bait you can have. We used to rod and reel fish with them and bait trot lines with them too.
OMG that is Beautiful where your son found those clams! Just PURE BEAUTY!!!! Man I Miss Louisiana!!!!!!!! I love the swamps and Miss it so much!!!!! I even had a Pet Gator that was given to me as a Baby Gator. My neighbor wouldn't let her son keep the baby gator because it was a $5,000 Fine for having them as Pets. So he gave it to me because I had been wanting one for so long as a Pet. Romeo was his Name. When he got too big I had to let him go. But I know he's happy swimming in the Bayou.

Spent most my life on water in NC now on farm but know the waterways and inlets all over east Carolina and just went to Lusianna for anniversary and the small towns /parishes are much nicer than any of cities like New Orleans.
You city people don't know the first thing about real life so that don't surprise me.. But then you same city people that don't know jack want to tell us how to live or how many guns we can have or what kind of vehicle we can have..

Hello from the river banks of the mighty Ohio near Evansville, IN. Just love your river swamp camp site. Man, that is the life. I just found your video while searching for swamp tours of the Atchafalaya. So glad to have discovered this. I just subscribed. That rain storm just made for the perfect setting, I could sit there for hours at the camp site or maybe put on a poncho and boat out in it. Good times... Damn Good Times...! My brother, sister and I learned to water ski in the Intracoastal Canal, out of Port Allen, LA. Tugboats pushing strings of barges would generate HUGE rolling waves behind them... My Dad knew the way from that boat ramp in Port Allen to Belle River and Lake Verret...! It took all day to go there and back...! God bless ALL of us! WWG1WGA

Hello from the river banks of the mighty Ohio near Evansville, IN. Just love your river swamp camp site. Man, that is the life. I just found your video while searching for swamp tours of the Atchafalaya. So glad to have discovered this. I just subscribed. That rain storm just made for the perfect setting, I could sit there for hours at the camp site or maybe put on a poncho and boat out in it. Either way, just heaven on earth...thanks for sharing your Louisiana life. Much appreciated.

My brother, sister and I learned to water ski in the Intracoastal Canal, out of Port Allen, LA.
Tugboats pushing strings of barges would generate HUGE rolling waves behind them...
My Dad knew the way from that boat ramp in Port Allen to Belle River and Lake Verret...!
It took all day to go there and back...!
