  • All the other TH-cam files are for individual songs, or in separate parts, so I thought I would share the whole performance.
    Apologies if this offends anyone or any organisation, but the show's no longer commercially available (...Dave Clark, why?) and is so good it just needs to be seen!

    WOW. At the 19:00 mark, Eric Burdon is looking at Otis and thinking "bloody hell, Im singing with Otis Redding" Brian Jones once said after seeing Otis live, "the Stones are a great live band, but you couldn't pay me a million dollars to follow Otis on stage" My fave singer ever. He's gives it his all, he's passionate and he's honest. No B/S. Aspiring singers, take note of said qualities.

    • @lechatel
      @lechatel 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Eric is the one who persuaded the producer to give Otis the gig, i know this won't sit well with Otis purists but at the time Burdon was much the bigger name.

      @@lechatel 1- where did I criticize Eric Burdon? 2- Where did I say Otis was bigger then The Animals.
      I love the Animals, but I am positive that even Eric Burdon would say that Otis was the superior artist. It’s not even close. That has nothing to do with being a purist or not. Health and happiness

    RSG was a very special programme...way ahead of it's time. I remember watching this in late summer 1966....I could not believe my good fortune. The King....Otis....the amazing Stax backing (actually probably fronting!).....and the only two blue eyed soul singers worthy of being on stage. Legendary. Respect.

      Without Eric Burdon Otis wouldn't havw got the gig. Eric was an established star on the show and Vicki Wickham- who booked the talent for RSG - said Eric had been persuading her over and over to get Otis on. (He wasn't really mainstream at all at that point in the UK.) Eventually she caved and this is the result.

    Outside of James Brown and The Famous Flames, Otis led the most exciting band to
    grace a stage in the mid-60s. The Stax house band of Booker T and The MGs were
    utterly unstoppable during this period.
    With Al Jackson on drums and Donald Dunn on bass, this was one of the greatest rhythm sections ever recorded. Anybody who saw Otis live in London in 1966 have all
    said it was a life-changing experience. After nearly fifty years, it is easy to see why.

    There hasn't and never will be any singer like Otis Redding. The very first record I owned was Shake on the blue stax label. I was 12 years old when Otis died, it was listening to Shake that got me into Northern Soul and inspired me to become a DJ and I worked at various clubs in and around Manchester. Thank you for posting this piece of history, a tribute to the god of soul. stay safe J.

Have to say the blonde by Otis when he sings pain in my heart makes me laugh, she looks great, she dress's great and dances without one spark of ability lol. What a show this was, remember watching it at the time and being stunned by the whole thing. Shame the James Brown special was lost because that was brilliant as well.

    I was only a year old when he tragically died in a plane crash. I went to school at an early age at 6 or 7. I remember when my dad went to work I would listen to his albums. The Shaft soundtrack and Otis Redding Live and Europe albums were the first 2 I could remember listening too and remember being fascinated by both. Watching Otis live performances now is like discovering him all over again. I'm just amazed at how electric he was. He was awesome. I get a joy watching these old clips of him performing. Otis was the best man. Respect.💯
