Being the baby in a family of 6 kids w/ the majority of my siblings being old enough to be my parents, I was exposed all day every day to SO much music; I lived in a house chock full of teenagers w/ their friends migrating in & out constantly. When I was 5 years old, this man's voice had me mesmerized...i'd fall asleep listening to him. Between Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Carla Thomas, Sam & Dave, & SO many others, he & Sam were my absolute favorites (I cried like I'd known them both when my Mom explained why I'd never see them on TV like I'd seen The Supremes on Ed Sullivan, or ever get to meet them one day. Somehow it felt mean & wrong, like being incredibly cheated out of enjoying what brought me so much peace & joy. Such deprivations to the world of the gifts & treasures they embodied😢.
This man was taken from us far too soon, and yet I'm grateful for the time he was here with us, such a beautiful soul, that will be missed forever, not matter what the year is. RIP Otis Redding Love Forevermore ❤️
This poignant performance sends thrills and every other emotion through your soul. How much wonderment and brilliance has the world lost from performers like Otis who left us far too soon 😢
I was 17 yrs old when he and some of his band members perished ,he was told by I believe his road manager not to chance it because the weather was bad , raining and all, Otis stated that he had to go and make that money, ,I believe the plane was headed to Wisconsin if I"am not mistaken, correct me ,someone said this was Otis last performance ,this was 'nt Otis last performance ,this performance was done at a popular tv show call the beat in Cleveland Ohio, they left there and did another engagement at Leo's Casino, also located in Cleveland, this was Otis last performance, before that dreaded crash the next day in lake Manona in Madison Wisconsin for a schedule performance at a place call the factory, James Brown told him also about that model plane, James told him the plane was too small for all that equipment and people cram on it,plus it was reported it had a faulty battery, what was Otis thinking ! put those kids lives in harm's way for money and didn't want to disappoint the fans, talking about he never cancelled a gig and wasn't about to start now, he asked the pilot could the plane make it,he said yes, instead of Otis taking the advice of the, aviation safety advisor, stating that all commercial flights had been cancelled because of bad weather, plus the advice of J B,he relied on what a broke ass pilot trying to appease Otis to solidify his position making sure he can't be replaced ,that reminds me of another bonehead pilot, Kobe's pilot,RIP bro Otis this was so depressing at that time, we all haven't forgotten you and what incredible songs and music you brought to the world,we missed you deeply, See you in heaven one day in the distance futher.
One of a kind, a voice for the ages which we haven't heard since his untimely passing. Raw, spontaneous, amazing energy, unbridled emotion & the true meaning of soul. You cannot confuse that voice w/any other artist in 55 years, must be the real deal.
Still all these years later I can't believe how horrible of a loss this was and this last show even though it was before my time, took place in the city I am from. What an amazing talent these young men all were. I hope you all found peace after leaving this earth so suddenly. Makes me tear up thinking about it. Thank God this music lives on for us all to enjoy until the end of time. 😢

This was when artists back in these eras could really show case their raw talent.. No swearing, no violent lyrics, no attitude, no innuendos, and no autotune.. Pure natural talent.. 🙏
His death strucked me to the core. But that void was filled because i distinctly remember the numerous songs released after his death because i bought them as 45's. James Brown warned him because of the bad weather, but Otis was too loyal to his fans in Wisconsin. That loyalty sadly resulted in his tragic death in a plane crash. James told him "That plane is not big enough to be doing what you’re doing. It can’t carry all those people and all that equipment. You shouldn’t be messing around with it like that." Otis said "Aw, it’s all right Bossman. We’ve had a few problems, but it’s doing okay." James later went on to say in his memoirs that "Somebody was fooling Otis… That plane was an old plane, with a bad battery and a lot of service problems, and it had no business flying in that kind of weather."

My favorite soul vocalist. He’s so gosh darn amazing. I fail trying to describe how talented my man was. He was a steam roller of a singer and the short time he was around was incredible. We miss you, Otis. Music ain’t the same without you.
Try to find a star today with the musical accompaniments of Ottis at age 26, also realize that he was a devoted husband and father of three. Much of today’s youth is still working minimum wage jobs, living with their parents, and playing video games at that age. His accomplishments at such a young age are astounding especially given they were achieved during such a turbulent time in the fight for racial equality. Ottis was what today is called an influencer.
Some people God holds his hands on a little bit longer…what an absolutely unbelievable voice and talent. Thank the Lord we have his music. Gone far to soon

Such deprivations to the world of the gifts & treasures they embodied😢.
s.t. wise..Beautifully said!❤
What a monstrous performance ,that’s all he did.His guys too pure magic.
This man was taken from us far too soon, and yet I'm grateful for the time he was here with us, such a beautiful soul, that will be missed forever, not matter what the year is.
RIP Otis Redding Love Forevermore ❤️
The greatest. Never anyone else like him. A soul that filled the universe.
I was born 20 years too late unfortunatly :( What a performer he was, RIP Otis, my dude.
No one did it better than Mr. Redding rest peacefully, King and I thank you for sharing your gift of soul. ✊🏾
We were deprived of so many more great songs when Otis was taken!!!
This poignant performance sends thrills and every other emotion through your soul. How much wonderment and brilliance has the world lost from performers like Otis who left us far too soon 😢

We will all have a last time of doing something. Grateful he left us his 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I was 17 yrs old when he and some of his band members perished ,he was told by I believe his road manager not to chance it because the weather was bad , raining and all, Otis stated that he had to go and make that money, ,I believe the plane was headed to Wisconsin if I"am not mistaken, correct me ,someone said this was Otis last performance ,this was 'nt Otis last performance ,this performance was done at a popular tv show call the beat in Cleveland Ohio, they left there and did another engagement at Leo's Casino, also located in Cleveland, this was Otis last performance, before that dreaded crash the next day in lake Manona in Madison Wisconsin for a schedule performance at a place call the factory, James Brown told him also about that model plane, James told him the plane was too small for all that equipment and people cram on it,plus it was reported it had a faulty battery, what was Otis thinking ! put those kids lives in harm's way for money and didn't want to disappoint the fans, talking about he never cancelled a gig and wasn't about to start now, he asked the pilot could the plane make it,he said yes, instead of Otis taking the advice of the, aviation safety advisor, stating that all commercial flights had been cancelled because of bad weather, plus the advice of J B,he relied on what a broke ass pilot trying to appease Otis to solidify his position making sure he can't be replaced ,that reminds me of another bonehead pilot, Kobe's pilot,RIP bro Otis this was so depressing at that time, we all haven't forgotten you and what incredible songs and music you brought to the world,we missed you deeply, See you in heaven one day in the distance futher.
Fantastic singer. Always reminds me of trying to learn to dance to him and James Brown.... Happy days
One of a kind, a voice for the ages which we haven't heard since his untimely passing. Raw, spontaneous, amazing energy, unbridled emotion & the true meaning of soul. You cannot confuse that voice w/any other artist in 55 years, must be the real deal.
1975 - I was 13/14 and on holiday in Great Yarmouth with my parents and heard this song everywhere I went - beautiful, wonderful memories !
Gone way too soon, I can't help but think how much more music he would have created.
2024 and my wife and me still enjoy this music ❤❤❤❤
His musical legacy lives on forever ❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚😘and the Bar Kay's too😘🙏🏾 blessings to their souls ,family, fans and friends amen 🙏🏾😘
His hold and carry of his voice is effortless. Absolutely adore his music. 😢😢😢😢
Tremendous! Remember the day he died. Too bad. Mom was driving us and it came on the radio. We were all sad,and still are. Glad he and Jimi Hendrix played together!
At the Monterey Pop Festival.
Used to ride around in Harlem with my dad and my uncle. Mom said I’d come home singing all of his songs!! Said the whole community was devastated when he lost his life!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

This is when music add meaning to your life what happened to these type of artists in 2024
This was when artists back in these eras could really show case their raw talent.. No swearing, no violent lyrics, no attitude, no innuendos, and no autotune.. Pure natural talent.. 🙏

If I have a time machine, I'd run to him and yell "don't go inside that fcking plane, dude!"
I would have loved to see him live. Such a great talent gone to soon.

i used to listen to his music when i was like 8 years old and i've realized how graceful and authentic he was with his love songs and music in general. amazed by him!
My favorite soul vocalist. He’s so gosh darn amazing. I fail trying to describe how talented my man was. He was a steam roller of a singer and the short time he was around was incredible. We miss you, Otis. Music ain’t the same without you.
2025 anyone?

Try to find a star today with the musical accompaniments of Ottis at age 26, also realize that he was a devoted husband and father of three. Much of today’s youth is still working minimum wage jobs, living with their parents, and playing video games at that age. His accomplishments at such a young age are astounding especially given they were achieved during such a turbulent time in the fight for racial equality. Ottis was what today is called an influencer.
That's the way the elites have shaped this world. They've made it so the majority are stuck on screens and never look up. Brains tuned down . .
A song that bespeaks an eternal truth. He came from a small town in Georgia and conquered the world with his music.
Absolutely brilliant, great artist, incredible talent, 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😎
Mr. Otis Wedding you are a icon even in memory later own my brother and I loved this song then and now.😢😂 December 2024
R U KIDDING??????????YOU CALL HIM WEDDING???????????OMG REDDING! JEEZ DONT DISRESPECT HIM LIKE THT.
Think of all the great songs, yet to be written and never to be heard, when fate took them away from the world that day.
Some people God holds his hands on a little bit longer…what an absolutely unbelievable voice and talent. Thank the Lord we have his music. Gone far to soon
Ain't no God...what the violent, tragic and sad death of him and members of the Barkays were a part of your God's plan? Same for starving and sexually assaulted children in this world.
