  • In this video, I take a look at one of the most valuable firearms inherited from my father; a 1968 Browning Superposed in 12ga bought new by Jack O'Connor. I fondle it, I shoot it, but will I keep it or sell it?

I have a 1953 Superposed 12 gauge in mint condition. Once you change anything on these guns it can make a huge difference in the value, even something as small as putting a recoil pad on the back. I will never sell mine, it is my favorite gun that I own. I seriously doubt if it is worth 30K. It is a very nice gun though.

Nice gun. A few observations: 1. The buttstock is probably not factory original. Note the difference in the checkering patterns between the buttstock and the forend. J.O'C may have had it replaced or the factory stock reworked (he did this often). 2. Most Superposed came from the factory with at least some engraving. Adding quality engraving shouldn't devalue a firearm. On a gun with this provenance it would not matter. 3. Jack was well aware of his own mortality and sold dozens of guns in the early 1970's via private sales and through Lolo Sporting Goods.
