It looks like I'm 8 years late, but this is the BEST video for the McFadden Clip Loader! Like the old adage says "RTFM"! Great instructions. Thank you.
I just got my Mkiii today and tried my clip loader, follow your tips and it works like a charm. I sprayed it with a little Remington oil, adjust the screw 1 turn at a time and works flawlessly, no more annoying one bullet at a time when reloading, now it's time to save money and buy more magazines. Thanks for the video and God bless!
Thank you VERY much...I was ready to "toss" my loader and then I ran upon your video. First clear and concise instructions I seen. Loader woks GREAT now and I'm never without it. Thanks again...
Thanks for the video! I have a Buckmark Hunter showing up in 2 days. I've already got the loader, 2 clips, and a pile of ammo to play with. Your video really clears up some things. Mine out of the box was "Load 9, drop 1". I backed the screw out a few turns and now it is perfect. TYVM Sir.
Just got one (12 years later). Adj. a little at a time and it works great. I used Rim oil on a Q-tip and lightly coated the slide in side. Thanks for the video. I just got a Hunter MK4!!
Thanks for your video, I just got through watching a video where the guy sat there and pumped and pumped it, after watching that one I didn't think I'd be interested in buying one, seeing it work properly and the description you gave makes me much more interested in the product. Thanks again!
Excellent video. About the directions, I didn't even realize it came with them because the insert is folded over and the directions are INSIDE the fold with nothing on the back and it appeared like a single piece of paper. It was only when I got a little oil on the paper that I was able to see the ink on the other side. A real "lightbulb" moment that was.
Great video. One more thing, if you insert a loaded magazine there should be about 1/16" of movement of the follower for proper adjustment of the screw.
Wax lubed bullets will eventually gum up the release/pinch point by the check valve. you can Disassemble and clean the whole unit using PPG DX 330 wax and grease remover. Keep the unit bagged when not in use. the Rem lube attracts dust and grit horribly and will gum the unit up. The biggest thing, which Dano commented on was keeping the unit level with the horizon line molded on. It's a gravity feed, so you need to think about that as you use it. Works as it should, if you use it correct.
Thanks for the info. I read the directions and adjusted it to what I thought was correct and thought it was the nature of my loader. I love the loader but sometimes I get frustrated when I would have to pump to get it to work. I will go and fine tune mine. Do you ever have wax buildup even when using rem oil? I know sometimes if I wipe it out time to time it will work better for awhile.
Great video and you are spot on about using the Rem Lube on it. I never have a problem with my Ruger Mark III clips and I can really crank out some rounds when I'm on the range. Thanks for posting!
There IS an adjustment on the black ballbearing thing that keeps them in. It's a allen wrench nut. You can let it out a little if it's in too far and compressing the shells and thus not allowing them to fall.
dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother for the last months :)
I dialed in the 11th bullet problem. I used Ballistol, not Rem lube a week before shoot and almost all of the bullets didn't fire. Must have soaked into the crimp between the bullet and the bullet case. I think I'd rather go it dry from here on out. Just "HOLD LEVEL" and if it gets a little jammed, just a little shake and a slight pump. No problem.
Thanks for a good comprehensive video...I need to adjust the screw so ten rounds load the magazines...got a question...I could not find REM Oil but I have gun oil...will that be okay to squirt a little into the hopper?
Good video. 100 percent right on the little shot of Rem lube. I'm really happy with this product. BTW, the bulk Remington Golden bullets don't cycle through my MK III worth a hoot. What shell works best for you?
Amazing video im glad somebody finally took to time to read the instructions i just have a question wont the rem oil get the gun dirtier quicker??? Or is it not enough to make a difference
I was not aware of the angle it had to be either, but my biggest problem and complaint is that screw needs to have locktite or something on it because its always going out of adjustment, I will put some on mine eventually even though it says not for plastic.
I have ALWAYS heard it is BAD to oil/lube your ammo. I guess it can kill the primers. I would like to hear what Remington, Federal and CCI say about oiling .22 ammo.
When I wiped off all of the wax from my 22s, the bullets fell into the magazine just like in the video. But when I first tired to use the loader, before I removed the wax, I had to shake it to get the cartridges to move. So, use Remington gun oil if you don't want to remove the wax.
Great video and what appears to be a easy loader but I am actually trying to slow down the loading process. I have a speed loader that simply fits over the clip and holds the spring down while I drop bullets in one at a time. Even with this set up I can over heat the barrel and lose accuracy.
I have had this for a small while now, used twice at range and about 4 times at home practicing. At some point in the beginning after watching a few videos about how to hold it, all 10 rounds slid straight down, but not since then. I don't know what is going wrong but it's not pushing the ball bearing back all the way. I even shaved down a little on the inside to make sure the magazine got all the way towards it, since the side with the ball bearing was fine but the opposite side was too short. Since it worked once I don't know what happened, but after adjusting all the screws a few times and the bearing I can get it to work only with hitting it to get it loaded. I have Mark III .22LR magazines. If anyone has advanced tips please let me know.
Glad I found your vid and didn't give up on the McFadden. Got it tuned now and it loads like butter. One additional comment, don't squeeze 100 rounds into the hopper. 50 is what the instructions say. You can do 100 but the rounds will interfere with loading the channel. It's not such a big deal, just saying....
Good video. One question I have is: How many rounds can you pour in it? I am assuming you do simply pour them in correct? I am assuming when you shake it around, the weight of the bullet flips them 'nose down'?
Great vid. I have never used one of those, but I'm guessing you might be able to avoid using some much oil by using something like an acrylic polish (like for cars... Turtlewax Ice comes to mind) to smooth the surfaces inside the device while introducing negligible residue. Still, very informative vid. Thanks.
Thanks for the video! This is the first time I have seen it. I have one of the loaders, and quit using it out of frustration. l am going to dig it and the instructions out, and try to use it again. But...one question...I have been told for more than 60 years; DON"T LUBE YOUR CARTRIDGES! BAAAAD Things will happen! Have you experienced any adverse effects from using lube on the loader or cartridges? Would a dry lube be better, do you think?
I'm very interested in your input on the S&W 22 mod you've come up with. I've adjusted the well to accept the magazine, but I'm still not getting the proper feeding. I've tried all the things you've mentioned, and am still having to pump the rounds in one at a time, or they fall in vertically. Any ideas?
Thank you. I was wondering if I worked as advertised. All the vids I saw it didn't work well and I was thinking I'd skip it, then I saw this. I will be buying it now.
I'm guilty of pumping the mag to load the mag. I put in a couple of drops of Hoppe's oil and vola! 10 rounds shot right into the mag. thanks for setting me straight!
yet another reason to un-cancel christmas. good video, and a great loader. now i have to convince the family cfo to let me get this. thanks. and as always: semper fi, carry on!!
Take it easy lessen, is so true. Loader is quick an easy. My only concern is hard plastic breaking and the size is hard to fit in back pack. Other wise truly good loader.
Thank you so much for using the words "mag/ magazine" and "cartridge" THANK YOU. Shame on the company for calling it a "clip" loader though. BLEH! I hate improper use of "clip" and "bullet" etc. Nice video and great input. Never hard of this loader. seems like a great item (besides the name)
SO, you have to spray lube on the cartridges and it's known to be a bad thing to have oil products on the case. As a matter of fact, many firearm manuals specifically mention not having oil on the bullet case.
It should not be a problem on 22s because they are rim fire but if you did that with ammo that has primers that could be a disaster because some oils can penetrate around primers.

I've seen this video more than once over a few years - and it's still great :D
Thanks for making it !
Great video. One more thing, if you insert a loaded magazine there should be about 1/16" of movement of the follower for proper adjustment of the screw.

Your the best video on the McFadden Loader. I just got mine setup. I have 4 mags. Had to fine tune for one mags. Loads all 4 smooth.
Thanks for taking the time to make a great instructional video. Definitely worked correctly after taking your advice.
Great video and you are spot on about using the Rem Lube on it. I never have a problem with my Ruger Mark III clips and I can really crank out some rounds when I'm on the range. Thanks for posting!
Couldn't find a Remington product called Rem Lube. Could it be Remington Drilube?
There IS an adjustment on the black ballbearing thing that keeps them in. It's a allen wrench nut. You can let it out a little if it's in too far and compressing the shells and thus not allowing them to fall.
Its not really an adjustment. Just a screw to hold the spring in that puts pressure on the BB
Excellent job best video yet on how to use this product
Thanks for demoing the adjustment. Seen the exact same thing!
Just traded for a like new Mark II and got one of these in the trade. Great video! Thanks.
dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother for the last months :)
@Damian Melvin Yea, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :D
Good video. I will definitely be putting this on my Christmas list now. Thank you.
Thank you!
Pretty sure my instructions were thrown out with the packaging.
This helped. 👍

uria711 can we use gun cleaning oil?
just bought one today from amazon.com thank you for your video. all the other videos didnt do this product justice

Food Porn Network Teflon tape around the threads.
I have ALWAYS heard it is BAD to oil/lube your ammo. I guess it can kill the primers. I would like to hear what Remington, Federal and CCI say about oiling .22 ammo.
I lubed it up with some wd40 silicone spray since it’s all gumed up with wax. Now slides into mag super easily but Is it safe to shoot?
I gotta get one of these!
Thumbs up for a great vid! TY for it. 👍
This came up on a search for an SR22 loader, but I do not think this will work with an SR22 magazine. My source is the McFadden website.
When I wiped off all of the wax from my 22s, the bullets fell into the magazine just like in the video. But when I first tired to use the loader, before I removed the wax, I had to shake it to get the cartridges to move. So, use Remington gun oil if you don't want to remove the wax.
Yes I've seen those other guys and yes they have no clue how to use the loader, great video
Great Vid, bro. I'm the guy that chucks the instructions. Thanks for the help.
Why is it called a clip loader when it loads magazines?
OX-Plays he already mentioned that...
Nice vid. Thanks. Just ordered one from Amazon. Anyone know if they make one of these for the Ruger SR22 as well?
Fax machine lol All the info a person needs. Thank you.
It id's great to see it used correctly, now I might get one.

Great demo
@PreacherDixon I wish the loader worked on a m & p 15-22, that would be sweet.
Can we use gun cleaning oil in place of Rem oil?
Oiling the cartridges? It would seem that would cause a LOT more carbon and unspent powder buildup in your weapon.
I'm very interested in your input on the S&W 22 mod you've come up with. I've adjusted the well to accept the magazine, but I'm still not getting the proper feeding. Thanks, got to get one, man my thumb is killing me from loading these mags
There is an adjustment on the detent ball, look closer its a alen key.
does it work on the SR22 magazine
Is there a stainless steel version?
Would this work on M&P 22 mags?
Really great, informative video!
Thank you. I was wondering if I worked as advertised. All the vids I saw it didn't work well and I was thinking I'd skip it, then I saw this. I will be buying it now.
Good review

I totally agree, the only thing wrong with the loader is it's plastic. One drop, & it's over. Other than that, it's awesome.
why was the ammo recalled
Thank you. You made that very understandable.
Great gear vidio. I seen those on midways site but just passed them by..I'll give them a second look.
They call it that because they liken it to an automatic stripper clip for a 22 pistol magazine.
That makes a lot of sense, cool, thank you for the input.
Get to it already, skip to 3:25
Great info, thanks.
Good work.
Great video.
your a genius gump
Great Video.....Thanks......
Great video!
Lol there dry but still the mag almost filled great vid great tool.
Excellent, thanks!!
That is slick!

Popeye78382 which one???
Popeye78382 should

Thank you!
I ordered mine by phone. Took like three minutes. Direct from manufacturer
Why are we listening to a guy who only has 15 rounds of ammo and can’t find any lube?
Nice video. thanks for posting.
CANT THE SET SCREW BE SET PERMANENTLY BY PUTTING SILICONE GLUE ON IT? THAT WAY IT CANNOT MOVE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT?
Silicone sealant on the caps lock key?
Good job!
Won't work on newer mags..just metal ones
good video man
Jump to 3:00
Thanks for the vid. Yes it's a magazine loader. :0)
Now I'm gonna watch all the idiot demos on youtube! Glad I saw this one first.
my instructions said to hold. it to that line and shake
I saw someone doing the "pumping" method and it was slow! I wasn't going to buy it, until I saw this.
Not a good idea to have lube going in your chamber and barrel
Mine didn't work all that well until I started using a little lube.
Oh well, you are just a bad ass aren't you :). Thanks for the tip !
What am I doing here? I don’t even own a handgun!? Nice video, though, even I understood how to set it up.
Men do not read instructions!! MAN CARD REVOKED!! LOL!
EBay has them.... Lots of them
its a magazine loader!
+Jason Byers Yes, it loads magazines but the manufacturer's name is a CLIP LOADER.
Yes, a clip is the improper terminology of what is known in modern times as a "magazine".
Doesn't know the difference between a clip and a magazine.
Also it's called a clip loader because that's what it is a clip that loads a magazine.
A clip is used to load a magazine. This does not load a clip.
it's funny to watch the other vid's, yea they are doing it wrong!
Sorry dude, but I'd take my UpLuLa all day over this plastic crap!!
+jkenney940 this clip loader is much faster than the uplula. I use the uplula for large calibers.
"literally hundreds of videos" don't think so bud
Great video, though. Thanks for sharing.
