Negative sir. I have found that if you enjoy the Maxx self righting feature that you will be meeding to replace the rubber insert in the cush drive or you will wind up thrashing a lot of spur gears. I'm sure someone else had noticed and commented.

Good stuff👍 I've been having issues with my Maxx. Did a horrible noise... At the beginning only when braking and today always I pressed the trigger both ahead and backwards. Was told in a Facebook group to check the cush drive rubber and it's basically destroyed... Already ordered the part and this will hopefully solve the issue as everything else looks alright.

General Motors Corporation made that up Traxxas stole it and revised it
@@rcguygarage my KUSH drive has been acting up so i dont think it was a great revision lol still my fav RC right now though
That is such a better solution than the slipper clutch my e-revo 1/16 uses, and the old E-revo used to use. The slipper clutch does work, but i've had instances where some liquid got into the spur and locked the two plates together, causing a rear diff to crack and break under heavy acceleration. Not only that, if it's adjusted wrong, the car seems to lack acceleration.

Wow! What a valuable vid Mr RC Guy Garage!! Thank you, thank you for making such quality and detailed DIY vids. You have a gift sir and are so generous to pass all this knowledge along. I just bought a Maxx brand new and it wasn’t but just a few packs that I encountered my first breakdown, a snapped rear drive shaft. I’m going to take the time to change the diff oils to the ones you recommend - 100k front and 500k back.
500k might be TOO TIGHT remember this is the way "I" like the rear diff to be. It gives less separation between the left and right.
The dirt gets in on the bottom part of the motor plate, I put RTV silicone on the bottom and fixed all the dirt gets in

when I actually clean everything I but a small bead of grease between all the plastic covers to keep grime out and its works pretty good

9:24 So it’s exactly like a dual-mass flywheel on manual gearbox real cars. (mostly on diesel engines, and rare gasoline engines with pretty unbalanced rotation like the 3 cylinders…)
Except the flywheel first function who is to had weight inertia into the engine rotation of course, we don’t need that here on the RC.
Or maybe more simple: a drive shaft flector on real cars, but the Traxxas CushDrive design looks more like a dual-mass flywheel to me
Anyway, I love the idea compare to a slipper who doesn’t have a limit in rotation…

Hey, so I watched your videos and it got me thinking maybe I should check over my Maxx, so I did. Thanks to your videos it made it so simple! Heres what I found. 1) my cush drive is shot! The elastomer cushion is toast! Ordered new parts. 2) center diff looked good, rear diff was a little dirty not bad. Front diff was pretty good. I didnt change fluids just cleaned up bearings and stuff. Thanks to you I saved myself from having to buy new spur gear and all that. Just had to get the innards. Got the wide kit coming as well. Oh and I have 2 broken rims and 1 inner lower control arm pin was bent. 😬 hard bashing lol. This thing is a beast!

yeah seal the top gear cover with thick grease. a lot by the motor mount just to be safe. I saw a video where someone got sand almost to the front diff from the top cover not being dirt tight...
HOLY S! I did a trick that I've used before in the past with pipe foam but i did it TOO quickly and didn't take time to do it right cause of impatience😂😝🤣😜
@@rcguygarage if you wanted to be real crafty you could make a gasket with silicone and just tape off (or a tiny coat of vasoline) the chassis side of things so it just sticks to the cover!

What size are the bearings on the Cush drive?
Hi man. I had to replace the spur to a steel one. The Maxx drives fine in reverse. But if I drive forward, it makes a grinding noise from this area, especially at higher speeds. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video.
You've got to know that diag on this like that isn't ideal 🤣😂 but why did you replace the gear? And if you didn't replace the pinion at the same time (depending on mileage) the gears wore into each other. And if all you did was replace the spur you just matched up a brand new gear with an old worn out one if that's the case this is the best I can do on over the air diag
Now I need a favor. Could you Please🙏 do a Cush Drive and Spur gear change on my E-revo 2.0 their is nothing detailed on the enter net like you do it.

@@rcguygarage that's sucks they're stingy with the patents and make it only available on rc cars that cost $500 and up. If I was a company like Arrma I would try to license that design because the slipper clutch needs to go.

On my Emaxx I have a dusty motors cover that keeps a lot of the dirt out . I am not sure if they make one for this truck
I think with the design of it and all plastic it's just something to watch and keep up on maintenance something that I'm terrible with😂😝🤣😜👍💯👊
i got a pretty nice one off of ebay, just concerned that it restricts airflow, temps went up a little bit since i got it.
With my Dusty motors cover I leave the sip open on the top to let the heat out and I have my shell set quite high up. My Emaxx you can adjust the height of the body shell.

So basically this is in place instead of a traditional slipper clutch where you dont have to worry about adjusting a spring and so forth? The cushing absorbes the torque and what have you?
