I don't know how many times, I'll accurately hit a hole clean, only to be sucked into an animation completely nullifying my momentum OR my O linemen just letting go allowing the D linemen to slide into place for a tackle. Again, with the example of the safety. Majority of the time if a player is coming in to "finish up" a tackle in Madden, they either do that really low shoulder dive into nothing OR as we all know, their body goes limp and fall lifelessly to the ground. This is night and day man. Night and day.

The run game feels so much more dynamic in 2k. On madden it almost feels like the play is predetermined when you run the ball. Like you're on ice skates and you just glide downhill till a defender touches you. In 2k ive always appreciated the strategy on the sticks actually having the ability to be a patient runner and wait for your blockers and wait for your hole to develop. Simple football fundamentals.
All Pro Football, a 7+ year old [EDIT - 10 YEAR OLD GAME] game on LAST gen hardware and even software is better than MADDEN 18's on field football on the latest and great hardware and software. You know... EA IS WEAK. STOP BUYING THAT TRASH.

Seeks out his assignment, completes the block, and even appears to hold his block down with one arm while the play plays out. Either way, you're doing an awesome job. We appreciate it.
I had a play once where Emmitt Smith broke a 50+ yard run. During the play, my Right Tackle held his block all the way until the whistle blew, after the touchdown. The topper, was the fact that the blocker even "turned" his block, to keep the defender from going after the runner, even though the defender would never catch Emmitt Smith.The defender was not even in the play after 5 yards of a gain during the run, but also, the lineman held his block. He held a block for a play that lasted about 8 to 10 seconds or more. Just amazing to tell you the differences between this game 10 years ago, and Madden NOW!Also Ryan Moody. I agree, one of the problem with Madden is it always seems like the players move at the same pace after special moves. The players really never slow down, and re- accelerate. Good video.
I was playing madden 17 the other day with a friend and he was 3 man rushing me and still getting in the back field within 1.5 seconds. The offensive line in madden is worthless.
This is still the greatest football game on the planet. I bought Madden 18 today for under 20$ just to see how it is but I already it will not amount to this game

Keep teaching these new kids on the block about what we had before Madden bought the NFL license before the 2005 video game cycle. Even though 2K delivered with All Pro Football 2K8 afterwards in 2007, the majority of football gamers slept on that game because the NFL branding wasn't in it. It was and is the standard of simulation football. It has the base ingredients (programming) that newer games need to start with as a foundation.
That’s because these developers care about games.. EA is all about money.. they are trying to make a game that satisfies hardcore gamers by letting them build a team but still fuck them over from now and than and give casuals a boost.. so they feel accomplished and keep playing.. the more people playing the more money gets spent.. more packs being bought.. they aren’t trying to fix these subtle but important things.. which is why i gave up on them in Nov.

I wonder, legally speaking, if 2k could make a generic football game in which players could fully create and control rosters/leagues/front office stuff etc. Basically so people could "create" the NFL within a more generic football game. I mean, obviously it's going to fall short in a lot of places, you won't hear team names or see the logos or arenas, but if the core experience were better, if it played realistically, could it be worth it? I mean, probably not worth doing now, but I hope 2k has assets prepared for when the EA monopoly on the NFL ends, so it doesn't take them more years to release a game.

While 2k doesn't have the polish that Madden 18 has its still more fun to play and in many ways more realistic. EA's exclusivity agreement was a dark day for football fans. No real innovation and a constant hand in your pocket mentality has really set this franchise back.
I’m getting pissed at madden because when I or my opponent makes a juke, spin move, truck, or stiff arm sometimes the runner can’t be contacted by defensive players for a period of time. There is no such thing as gang tackle. It is so annoying to have 3 players rush the runner at the same time then for him to truck one of the 3 players and the other 2 tacklers aren’t even able to make contact with him.
The trouble with APF is IMO the game doesn't recognize linemen, line play is way too animation driven. I have a video of a silver guard and generic center double teaming a bronze tackle, but because the tackle started a break block animation on the generic center, he automatically had to win the battle and his win animation transitioned into automatically blasting through a double team to get a quick sack on me. You also have legend offensive lineman run past defenders (this rarely happened in 2k5) too often. Lastly, because the game gives you so many bad plays and ratings that don't matter with legend linemen, there's no incentive to build a team around them. Legend skill players will not lose against their opponents who are a lower tier than them. Jerry Rice won't constantly be nullified by an inferior legend or generic cornerback the way Anthony Munoz or Reggie White would. IMO 2k4 had the best and most organic line play. 2k5 had the most consistent line play, it just wasn't as interesting and generally made defensive ends irrelevent.
NYG5 Good points. For APF are you talking about online play, or offline play? Both? One think I noticed at times is they don’t recognize priority on the line.. I’ve seen Generic players double teamed while there were Gold players on the line .
I would slightly disagree with the importance of lineman in APF, I was in online league for 50 seasons in APF that's lasted 5 years, and I routinely chose the the Browns as my team in part I wanted gold Joe Thomas and he definitely made a difference over the long haul, I had 1400 yds with a generic back around 4.2 or 4.6 yds a carry, but saying that when star off lineman got into a double team block with generic far to often the double team block break through animation would trigger which is annoying, but star gold lineman do make difference, I won league championship one year with Reggie white, Art Donovan, jack Youngblood, and Jerome brown, I can tell you they wreak have on the other teams especially since a lot of people didn't value star offensive lineman. My last point is if you look at the Browns in real life their terrible but have one greatest tackles in NFL history, but tackles don't win games, you can lose with bad ones, but you still need a Aaron Rodgers or a Tom Brady

Tricky thing about programming a beast o-linemen is a fine line if you make them too op game turns into Madden 05 or 2k3 where you really couldn't get off a block for shit on defense. I agree though if you spend money on a line offense should get easier. But 2k did have its problems but the offensive line looks way more organic then madden. I can agree with this for offensive lineman. I've always found star D line to be great though when I user them. Setting Dexter Manley off the edge is absolutely lethal when it comes to stopping the run.
My problem with star linemen is they will have some plays where they destroy their opposition, but then have plays where they get defeated by generics. Now this is fine on it's own, but it's a problem when this same mechanic isn't replicated across the board. When do you ever see Night Train Lane get blown up by a generic receiver? When does Jerry Rice get blanketed by a generic corner? When does a generic RB truck Dick Butkus? Maybe once every 10 games, and it's usually because of novel positioning. And yes, the blocking AI was a bit bad comoared to 2k5, and I was annoyed that back then you couldn't hot route a double team on a star defender, and that you still can't in Madden. APF is still super fun to play, and had a blast playing a few games recently after not touching it for years, but the inconsistent line play and the money pass plays (fades, out patterns) still bother me a ton. These problems didn't exist in 2k5, the only problem with 2k5 is the CPU playcalling and passing.
The only flaw is the rolb is taken our of the play with a glitch...he reads that its an inside run only to flow outside and then try to peruse after the rb was behind him
Hey Mr. Shutdown safety. You should do a video on how the team ratings such as offense defense and special teams don’t mean anything but a number. The Rams are rated a 89 offense but literally the only offensive players ranked with an 80 or higher on the offense on the game is Gurley and Whitworth. So how are they an 89 overall offense but the majority of people are rated in the 70’s?
I'm not a Madden player but ur vids are very entertaining. But this is pretty much a NBA live vs NBA 2k. They are different because of what they own rights too. Madden/2k gives u great graphics apf/live gives u great commentary and realistic animations. This is why when looking at 2 different games that are the same sport it has noticeably different things each does better than the other.

One, they are hours away in FL. Secondly, they are an entry level company, with entry level pay. I could not start there making what I do now. 15 years ago I'd have jumped at the chance but way to much going on now.
lovin it. was physics a counter to backbreaker, did they think it was an improvement, or was it something they had in their plans for awhile, or a combination? it's ugly and not convincing. there is such a gap in quality between a motion capture animation and a physics interaction. wish they would have kept chugging on backbreaker...

The only flaw is the rolb is taken our of the play with a glitch...he reads that its an inside run only to flow outside and then try to peruse after the rb was behind him

Hey Mr. Shutdown safety. You should do a video on how the team ratings such as offense defense and special teams don’t mean anything but a number. The Rams are rated a 89 offense but literally the only offensive players ranked with an 80 or higher on the offense on the game is Gurley and Whitworth. So how are they an 89 overall offense but the majority of people are rated in the 70’s?
I wish 2k would drop a new football game for pc that would allow it to be heavily modded

I'm not a Madden player but ur vids are very entertaining. But this is pretty much a NBA live vs NBA 2k. They are different because of what they own rights too. Madden/2k gives u great graphics apf/live gives u great commentary and realistic animations. This is why when looking at 2 different games that are the same sport it has noticeably different things each does better than the other.

Every block is not held on every play. EA bosts that if it's in the game it's in the game. No game will you watch on no play will every block be held.
Lol this game had the 3/4s arm sleeve back in 07. It took madden 10 more fucking years to add that

If you have all these suggestions and criticisms for madden (which I all agree with), plus you know Rex, why don’t you work with EA to Make the game. I think if your suggestions were put into a game, the product would be much better
One, they are hours away in FL. Secondly, they are an entry level company, with entry level pay. I could not start there making what I do now. 15 years ago I'd have jumped at the chance but way to much going on now.

lovin it. was physics a counter to backbreaker, did they think it was an improvement, or was it something they had in their plans for awhile, or a combination? it's ugly and not convincing. there is such a gap in quality between a motion capture animation and a physics interaction. wish they would have kept chugging on backbreaker...

Going back a few video's about maddens details on the banner hanging in lucas...why is madden the only sports game now that has fake advertising in the stadiums?? Every other sport's game has real advertisements. Just another detail I've noticed like you were talking about.

That's not "perfect" blocking, that's holding a block something Madden fails to do.

I have been playing football since Joe Montana football I agree 2k5 was the best game made and 2k8 is good as well .My question to you is ,do you have a relationship with 2k or do you know anyone who does ,because I believe if they would just listen to ppl who loved the game and who have played with cleats on the ground and has been play the console football for over then 20 years ,they would want to hear what we have to say even if it was just a football platform ...please respond.

This Game Looks Amazing!! All the little things is what makes this great. The Animation, the Sidelines, the way the Corner moved up towards the Receiver. Makes Madden look really bad. # MaddenSucks🏉👎
