@@ErikCB912 It's funny how the metric you're offering for QB success is how bad their surrounding roster is lol. FWIW none of those rosters were great. ZW was drafted to the same 2-win 2020 roster that SD had. Tell me who his supporting cast was year one? CD84 and Keenan Cole? ZW had a winning record w/ BH across 2 seasons. GW is great but he's legitimately the only option. ZW did a ton to hurt himself, but his development was scrapped midway through 22''. The Defense took off way quicker than the O, the Jets have been trapped in that mire of false hope ever since. Defense wins games and O stays out of their way, "first to 20 points, wins." ZW never truly stood a chance in NY. By last season's end, BH and GW were publicly calling out their coaching staff and their OLine ranked bottom 2 in every metric in the league- not to mention they led the league in penalties. The rosters may have changed, you can feel free to argue about which Jets draft pick had it the worst. But the fact of the matter remains, the Jets have failed all of their QB picks since Sanchez.
Due to my family I have been a jets fan for as long as I can remember, I can remember how exited my family was when Wilson was drafted. It still is sad to think about.
It's not a coincidence that teams like the jets and browns "never draft good qbs". Its that they completely fail to develop them, and in some cases cause them to only regress. The jets failed zach wilson, ruined the start of his career. If he is given another shot on a real team, he will perform
No wilson just isn't good. Jets and browns can't draft good QBs cuz they don't know how to spot good QBs lmao. Their scouting departments aren't that great for the position, especially for thr browns who drafted guys like johnny Manziel.
The fact that every QB including Rodger's look like it's the first day of high school football shows you that QBs go to the jets to get rich quick and reduced to backup after they cut em
One crazy throw against air got him drafted so high. What he put on tape against non-trash teams in college should've told everyone he was dumpster juice.
Let’s get one thing straight. Geno Smith even admitted himself he would’ve never panned out in NY. He was immature, and refused to watch film. He didn’t help himself at all.
As a Dolphins fan and a Utes fan. I was shocked when the Jets drafted Wilson. His numbers at BYU were very mediocre in his first 2 seasons. In his final season, he looked pretty good until you realized the competition he was playing against. This was during COVID-19 when many teams did not play BYU did and played such teams as Northern Alabama, Troy, Western Kentucky, UT-San Antonio, Texas State, Houston, and Louisiana Tech. The only teams that BYU played worth mentioning were Boise State who had a mediocre year and Coastal Carolina (BYU lost) How did the Jets not see this?

I still believe in this kid. The flashes of greatness were truly great and it felt like his situation at the Jets was never a fair shake. I hope he gets the opportunity to prove himself in Denver
The Jets tried to help him by drafting AVT, Breece Hall, & Garrett Wilson. They went & hired QB coach Greg Knapp who helped Joe Burrow but he passed away in an accident Zach's rookie year. Offensive line isn't really an excuse for me Joe Burrow dealt with a struggling oline his rookie year but still showed he has what it takes. Sam Darnold had far less & was in a way worse situation.
Joe Burrow played 5 years of college football and won the college football championship. Zach Wilson played barely 2 seasons in college at BYU playing lower tier competition in college. You can’t compare Burrow and Wilson in terms of NFL readiness. He needed a lot of learning time on the side line just like Jordan Love. And yes, the O-line for a raw product like that was paramount. AVT has barely been on the field during ZW’s tenure. Breece was injured year 1. Garrett Wilson had no other WR to open up the field. The Jets blew this more so than Wilson who needed the Jets to help him develop. Also Sam Darnold played much tougher competition during his college tenure.

Tim Boyle was atrocious last year in the few games he played. Greg Mcelroy, Sanchez, Brooks Bollingers, Geno Smith, ray Lucas, Glenn Foley, Rick Mirer, Quincy Carter, Sam Darnold, Luke Falk..... Theres a lot of them too list i wouldnt say he was the worst thats for sure.

There were no good options at QB in that draft. Lance is just as bad, Mac isn’t a starter, and the jury’s still out on Fields. That draft wasn’t a jets problem. It was an overhyped QB problem.
@@SpectralOoze the point is that everyone who took a QB in round one, except for Jacksonville missed. The 49ers arguably had the biggest miss out of everyone. Lance can barely see the field and the 9ers gave up a haul to trade up to draft him. Purdy is saving Lynch and Shanahan’s jobs right now.
Not a Zack fanboy or anything like that. He didn't play good enough football for the Jets. BUT, what goes underreported and not emphasized enough is the fact the Jets led the entire NFL in O-Line injuries for the last two years. If you know football you know it's tough to do just about anything on offense when the O-line is overmatched and constantly changing parts.
Correct. The Jets won 7 games last year with the worse o-line in the history in football. Zach is no virtuoso but threw the season away when he benched ZW for Boyle.
Speaking as a BYU fan, I felt VERY uneasy about the hype he was getting. That was during the days of their independent phase before eventually landing in the Big 12, and that kept them from getting schedules that would be particularly challenging, so his stats were pretty misleading.
The fact jets fans think rodgers is gonna deliver a Lombardi makes me laugh, dude is washed up and a f**king addict at this point. I cant wait to see them fail epicly this season
Rodgers has never been washed up. His last season in green Bay he played with a broken thumb most the year and rookie recievers. I counted 9 drops one game that year and he still put up better numbers than about half the starting qbs. The guy is one of the most gifted raw talent qbs to ever play the game. Idk bout him getting another superbowl bc the packers wasted his prime and never do anything at trade deadline or free agency when their team in a superbowl window and Rodgers putting up mvp seasons. But he makes the jets a contender for sure.
While Sanchez was far from great, people tend to forget he took the Jets to the AFC Championship in 2011. He beat Payton in the Wild Card, Tom in the Divisional, & lost by 5 to Ben. Granted, having an insane defense helped but he held his own.
“The new regime propelled the Jets to double up their win total from the previous season. Jumping from two wins to fouuuurrrr. Still awful, but technically moving things in the right direction.” LOL that one got me! 😂
man the only issue i have with Zach Wilson is he was so bad he made the damn Jets defense think they’re good… idc what you say they’re not, argue with a wall 🤷🏾♂️😭
The most frustrating thing about Zach Wilson on the Jets, is when he had plays that looked like full blown "superstar style" plays - they were massive. Sure they were extremely less frequent than the complete meltdown blunders on a daily basis, but it left you wondering what's going on inside his head, why can't he consistently string together solid performances? It shows that you can have all the physical traits in the world, all the arm talent, and check almost all the boxes on paper that are attributed to starting QB's and still not cut it in NFL. Whether it was something going on in his own head or the ability to modify his natural talents to translate to the NFL level - we may never know. But one thing is for sure, those 3 years that he played on the Jets were some of the most frustrating games to watch in my lifetime.
Any QB that’s at least as good as a decent backup like Minshew, Brissett, Tyrod, Winston, etc would have won at least 10 games with the jets the past 2 seasons.
@@richardprescott5939 Flacco was better than Zach on the jets. The 4th quarter of that Cleveland game alone was better than anything I’ve seen from Zach.
@@ErikCB912 That is the only game he won. Zach was close to being a .500 QB the last two seasons on THAT team A game that he already lost that the other team gave back to him. Then after the ridiculous amount of QB injuries last season, when he was the only guy left, Cleveland called. C'mon.
@@richardprescott5939 Clearly everyone was wrong. He could still play, he won 5 games to get Cleveland to the playoffs and he’s even doing the same thing for Indianapolis now. The team won in spite of Zach, not because of him. The defense and Breece Hall won those games.
Imagine if he went to a top tier franchise as far as management with a future retiring franchise qb like Green Bay, Tampa and sat behind Roger’s ( not nearly the same as the current situation) or Brady for two years and learned how to adjust to caliber of play. It’s blatantly obvious he is extremely gifted. Not saying he would be the next “great” but I would think this would be a completely different story.
I'm not sure where you got your sources but Zach had "swagger"? I can confidently say he ain't have any and he came out of nowhere where it should've been Justin Fields being drafted 2nd. The hype train played a factor for Zach
Joe Flacco was so bad with the Jets in 2022 that he couldn't get an invite to training camp in 2023. It took about 30 injured QBs around the league before Cleveland picked him up and he got them into the playoffs. Even if Zach is not good, he NEVER had a chance with the Jets
For all the non jet fans, this insanity is just a snippet of the circus that always surrounds this team. It’s not just bad/sad/boring football. There’s a special cruel sort of comedy that’s unique to this team. Every mishap is just so damn ironic in nature and often on the national stage. I’m not trying to say it’s worse to be a jets fan than some of the other historically bad teams, I’m not saying the Jets have as many heartbreaks as other bad teams. But there’s a special circle of hell that Jet fans are in. Being just a few short weeks away of the 2024 season, I’m once again hopeful. We’ve paid enough penance with Rodgers last year, haven’t we? Maybe this time it’ll be different. But as the famous quote goes, it’s the hope that’ll kill you. #JetUp
For the Jets so loved Peyton Manning, that they gave their one and only franchise, to say "yeah we'll hire they guy who just failed in Miami because Peyton still likes him" that whoever believes in Gase is not a GM, but in fact a retired QB. Amen
I remembered why I don't watch these videos anymore....you used the actually the answer "how bad is ___ actually?" with statistics, graphs, charts.... Now you just give a biography about the player's career. I still have no idea how bad Wilson actually is because you didn't even take the time to tell me his career win/loss record, much less his completion % and YPG....his WAR would've been nice or at least a graph of where he stacked up to other/average QBs to see where he was against his contemporaries. But no, all we got was the back of his football card stretched over a 15 minute video. Poor work on this one....can one of your admins reply to this and tell me how bad Wilson actually is?? It would be the difference in watching the next video, or blocking your channel for clickbaits just to read a player's football card.
Jets fan chiming in: I was against drafting him, and was in the minority who ranked that years draft class as "bad". I rated T-Law as "above average", and everyone else as having significant issues with their game. People focus too much on upside, and ignore fundamentals. And when you look at all the athletic freaks who fail in the NFL, the one thing that stands out is their fundamental skillsets are lacking. Yes, the ability to throw on the move, have a cannon of a right arm, and whatnot is "nice to have", but at the end of the day you need to understand defenses, have solid mechanics, and the ball placement skills to throw receivers open, delivering the ball on time and on target. Having exceptional physical talent does *not* replace these fundamental skills.
As a Raiders fan, the schadenfreude of watching the Jets...be the Jets...is exquisite. It's nice to know there's one other team more hilariously inept than we are.
In the defense of the jets ive watched games where old manJoe flacco, bench journeyman Josh Johnson, & mike f’n white all throw for multiple TDs, 300+ yards, while managing to get wins as starting qb’s in a jets uniform. Its zach that sucks.
I think that was one of the explicit points of the video ... hence the montage of the various QBs to have filtered through the organization over the years.
Zach Wilson was also put into a really bad situation. He was definitely a really talented player. If he was drafted by a different team with different coaching that didn't need to start him right away, he may have been successful. Not necessarily, but it's possible.
Bro is gonna get another chance somewhere else. Like Sam dArnold and Geno Smith before him. Dudes that looked horrible on the Jets but folks please remember. IT'S THE JETS

Yep, the media always want to drink the Kool-Aid that pretends that mid-major vs power-5 doesn't matter. The reality is that QBs like Wilson and Paxton Lynch in recent years, but dynamic QBs like Detmer and Chang of the past, play a different caliber of opponent. QBs are always a crap-shoot and nobody seems to have really figured out how to predict NFL success from college performance ... but it will always be a bigger stretch to extrapolate the career from the schools playing in the lower conferences.

And despite all of that, Geno and Darnold both played better than Zach. Just face it, Zach sucks. He’s nothing more than an overhyped and overdrafted QB because the pandemic-restricted BYU schedule made him look better than he actually was.
Smaller market? The only smaller markets is the Browns, Texans and Jags. Jets don't exactly have even decent history.

That geno smith story made me dislike him. He promised the teammate that he’d show up to the camp for 600 dollars and he never showed up. 4:00

Joe burrow got injured his rookie season because of that O line was terrible
They drafted Elijah Moore and signed Corey Davis as well. The problem was that Zach just isn't very good.
Sam never had a chance. He's always gone to shitty situations.
@@bouji_ Elijah Moore and Corey Davis weren’t good enough. Plus Corey was not a WR1. And Lafleur misused Elijah Moore badly. The dysfunctionality of the team surrounding Wilson was blatantly clear.

It's amazing how much better Zach is when he has more than 1.9 seconds protection from your OL. Amazing!
I mean even Aaron Rodgers can’t win with the jets
How bad was Zach Wilson? So bad that if Gardner Minshew was the jets QB for the same 3 years their record would be flipped
