The basic meaning of just the words "Shine Through" is something Shining, like a light, through something. Maybe like the sun "Shines Through" clouds. In this song (and the game) emotions/feelings are shown as colours of light that "Shine", which also means that we should let our emotions "Shine Through" (let other people know how we feel) Then there is also that part of the song says we should *TRY* to let the light shine through, meaning sometimes it is not (the light is blocked, again like the clouds block the sun maybe) so we should let the light shine through. Light symbolically means happiness, and sometimes, be it sadness, sorrow, depression, emotions can completely block out all happiness, and being isolated only makes the world seem darker. This comment'll probably disappear into the horde of others, but just wanted to say that I needed this song today. Despite my life apparently finally starting down a better path, I still struggle to see the light and colour. I feel like an old black and white photo, disappearing into obscurity as the people I see as friends go on without me in their polaroid colourful lives. I've probably listened to this song a dozen times since it was released, but today, when all my other "comfort" songs sound hollow to me, this one came back to me. Just for the record, as someone who grew up in the Colorado mountains, Welsh mountains were close enough that I felt a little homesick watching this video. It added an extra level to this beautiful song... Which I have watched more times than is probably healthy. The wordplay and message of this song is just so addictive!
Honestly, if you hadn't mentioned that it was filmed in the Welsh mountains, there's a little spot in the Colorado mountains that looks exactly like where you filmed.

I had the most goofy smile during the entirety of this song. It's the most beautiful song I've heard in a long time. I can tell this was a bit of a deeper song, like Fragments (another banger, btw). This has been said a billion times but I love how speak the inner meaning of a game. Not rapping about gameplay or the story, the main theme. You make art by amplifying other art. You dont make songs about the game, you make the songs *with* the game. After hearing this song a few dozen times over the past 2 years, I still tear up when listening to it. It was the first I heard from Stupendium that was completely different and overwhelmingly wholesome; it also got me through a few really tough times, like when I was having my life uprooted again after I just started finding my feet.
Earlier this year, I was in such a bad patch of depression, so much to a point where I couldn't sleep a wink without having waterfalls pouring from my eyes. However your music made me feel not so alone in the world and was also a reason for me to smile at the end of the day. Thank you for making these wonderous songs.

So, I know I am late to replying to this video, and i know it will probably be overlooked and ignored, But I have been listening to his music for years now. The thing is, I honestly deal with bad depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Almost 1 month after leaving a heavily abusive household, he released this song. It has been a long time dealing with a lot, and pain I can't even explain. However, whenever I hear this song in particular, I tear up a bit. It changes my headspace, even if it is temporarily. It teaches me that its okay to choose who is really my family. That life does get better. And I relate to this song so much. this song has helped me SO much the past 8 or so months. Thank you for writing such a beautiful song, Stupendium. I never felt needed to comment until now, but seriously, thank you so much for this. There is no telling where i would be emotionally and mentally if it wasn't for this song.... Thank you so much. It has been helping me get through so much, you have no idea.

I think I first found him kind of through Random Encounters, I was just hanging out listening to Just Monika and then I found Why Did I Say Okie Dokie, and because I didn't have a TH-cam account back then, I just listened to it and moved on. A couple years later, I found These Hallowed Wings and, wow. This is one of the people who I will always click on the videos of the moment I see them in my notifications.

With that, along with depression and anxiety, I never thought I could be proud of myself. having a hard time understanding why but something about this song hits so hard it almost made me cry. i know absolutely nothing about this game, this really isn't the kind of song i would typically listen to, and it's the exact kind of sappy stuff I usually hate but for some reason i absolutely love this. something about the complex simplicity in the lyrics and the rainbow puns that should make me cringe but they're so well done that they become brilliant and the scenery and the found family message, whatever it is it's amazing

The basic meaning of just the words "Shine Through" is something Shining, like a light, through something. Maybe like the sun "Shines Through" clouds.
In this song (and the game) emotions/feelings are shown as colours of light that "Shine", which also means that we should let our emotions "Shine Through" (let other people know how we feel)
Then there is also that part of the song says we should *TRY* to let the light shine through, meaning sometimes it is not (the light is blocked, again like the clouds block the sun maybe) so we should let the light shine through.

Just for the record, as someone who grew up in the Colorado mountains, Welsh mountains were close enough that I felt a little homesick watching this video. It added an extra level to this beautiful song... Which I have watched more times than is probably healthy. The wordplay and message of this song is just so addictive!

After hearing this song a few dozen times over the past 2 years, I still tear up when listening to it. It was the first I heard from Stupendium that was completely different and overwhelmingly wholesome; it also got me through a few really tough times, like when I was having my life uprooted again after I just started finding my feet.

The thing is, I honestly deal with bad depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Almost 1 month after leaving a heavily abusive household, he released this song. I think I first found him kind of through Random Encounters, I was just hanging out listening to Just Monika and then I found Why Did I Say Okie Dokie, and because I didn't have a TH-cam account back then, I just listened to it and moved on. A couple years later, I found These Hallowed Wings and, wow. This is one of the people who I will always click on the videos of the moment I see them in my notifications.
Not only is this another great song, catchy, well produced and fantastic writing, that speech at the end actually made me tear up a little bit. it really hit the heart.

This is one of your best songs. This was incredibly inspiring. I tend to have a lot of... negative thoughts that I don't really like to admit I have. With that, along with depression and anxiety, I never thought I could be proud of myself. Every single time i come back i end up being nothing short of MONOLITHICALLY BLOWN AWAY! There are dozens of comments commending you for the emotion, precise thought and personal influence in this song and it's all completely damn deserved. I was previously going to commend on Rift apart because it was exceptional as well, but decided to leave my comments at the door in favor of, you know, allowing the artist to read new responses. But it's exceptional. The fact you're able to make these amazing songs and craft masterful stories to weave alongside them. It's something you simply do not see in this day and age all to often. I'm completely in awe friend. I just got off of a ten hour shift and found this in my recommended today. I was crying tears of genuine joy when I heard it. I've been following this game since the initial announcement, and of course clicked straight away, but this video really made me cry. It was beautifully written and the lyrics really touched my heart. Someone verbalising those kinds of feelings so wonderfully makes so many of us feel less alone. Everyone is already talking about the amazing visual and the even more amazing lyrics. But for this second point one thing that IMO isn't mentioned enough is how many of the lines also directly reference not just themes of the games, but actual plot points/concrete background infos about characters to the point where some lines could be seen as spoilers if you know what you are looking for.

having a hard time understanding why but something about this song hits so hard it almost made me cry. i know absolutely nothing about this game, this really isn't the kind of song i would typically listen to, and it's the exact kind of sappy stuff I usually hate but for some reason i absolutely love this. something about the complex simplicity in the lyrics and the rainbow puns that should make me cringe but they're so well done that they become brilliant and the scenery and the found family message, whatever it is it's amazing
third listen i think i'm finally starting to understand why this song hits so close to home, it's because it pretty much exactly hits on all my insecurities, especially the bit at the end. my thoughts are far too jumbled to expand on in a youtube comment section under a year old video at 1:31 am but i want this song to be the soundtrack of my life.
