  • Ever look at a set of pedals and think, nahhhhh, I could build those for less money than that. Well you might be right.
For some people DIY projects are about satisfaction and for others its about saving money. However DIY projects can be frustrating and even costly with thrown out parts.
DIY Sim Studio sells plans to make your own load cell based brake pedal set. The plans allow for 3 different types of builds and we cover two of them in this review.
Thanks for your continued support! You, The Pitcrew, are the reason we’re able to keep the wheels turning here at The Simpit. If you could like, subscribe, and share the video as well, that goes a long way towards promoting the community, and of course our appreciation is a give in. Loved this. Reminded me of when I put together a foldable wheel stand out of an wardrobe 😅. Can’t wait to dig deeper in some more DIY.

Shaun's Deathmobile 2.0 pedal challenge? ;) (Functional wood pedals would be a laugh.)

It would be interesting to just get all the parts for the load cell and springs rubbers etc. So you can build a custom mount for what ever pedals u have

On the 3D printed break you could do is have a Cup printed to fit a flange M8 bolt head hexagonal on the back plastic at 45 degrees to the bottom where there would be a hole in the mounting plate, the bolt can go through with two nuts on the bolt at the bottom, so you can adjust the pressure on the back plate with the nut and locking nut of the pedal so it doesn't flex the back plastic of the spring assembly block.
Make sure you got plenty of material on the back of the assembly block for the Bolt probably 20 mm minimum square. Give you a lot better feeling and will protect the plastic from fracture.
Is it possible to use an optical mouses as the sensor should work better?? can you get the same calibration software to work with a mouse?

Comments are turned off on your eSports vid so I'll comment here. Your eSports vid was right on the money.
Coming from an Xbox Forza background I'm real familiar with how the player suffers when these license squabbles happen.
Thank God for Assetto Corsa PC mods!

What is the difference between the brake springs and elostomers? Is one better than the other? If so how so

Typically springs would be used for 90% of the load pressure, & elastomers used for the last 10% of the load pressure feel. Springs & elastomers come in different strengths, but springs generally feel quite linear from 0-100% deflection, whereas elastomers have a curved pressure, that imitates hydraulic mechanisms. For brake pedals & handbrakes, I like the feel of springs & elastomers together, not just one or the other. Which would last longer? Springs. Elastomers are made from rubber polymers, which do break down over time from environment temperature, humidity (or lack of), & general wear (Can break down like old elastic bands). But you could realistically expect it to last years (depending on quality of course). Springs can also degrade over time from wear, rust & age, but you can expect it to outlive the elastomers

Hey Shaun, why are the comments disabled on the esport video?

@@TheSimpit it’s all good Shaun! Appreciate insight on the matter and I agree with your points you made in the video. I’m afraid to say that the writing was on the wall during the pandemic. These companies saw the hobby/sport as potential revenue stream and latched on. Once they’re in it will be next to impossible to get them out. :(

Good video, but please use a different camera, this one has HORRIBLE ghosting, every time you move it's really really bad and very distracting. I'd much prefer a worse resolution than to put up with that tbh.

Why are your comments switched off on most recent video? You have a huge platform to comment and make good comments for change, can you open up comments? thanks, from a fan since the beginning.
