    That dd wheelbase + $25 office chair + ratchet straps is by far the highest grade equipment in the SRG! Love it. Deserves a video all on its own.

    I bought this about the same time as he reviewed the product. I am retired and drive several hours every day. The product is still working as good as day 1. It really uses a "Hall Effect" because it is basically a steel rod going in and out of an electromagnet. I have mine inverted in G27 pedals and I love it. It is still very stiff.

    Another awesome review, thanks Barry. I frequently go back to your reviews over the years to help me make decisions on purchases I am planning to make. The SRG is an invaluable resource. P.S. It boggles the brain that someone would downvote this video.

    I got this mod. So happy with the purchase. My braking is now controllable. I am getting better lap times because of it. I can brake so much later. I never used a load cell. I have only owned a g920 brake set. Dump the original brake, swap the springs around. It’s great. If you have the money buy a bettter set up. If you’re on a budget like me, this is soo worth it. I’m trying to get the word out. True brake is awesome.

    Bought it and love it. One thing i recommend is that you buy the optional spring kits. I found that the 100% spring was too stiff, very hard on the door and could not get a good feel, switched to 60% and so much better. Now I may go to the 80% to see how that does. Great product.

    On my G29 pedal set, I actually swapped the shorted gas pedal spacer and screws with the longer one under the clutch pedal.
    Along with moving the gas and clutch to the leftmost screw holes, for more even spacing.
    I kept the brake in the centre, as even with the stock spring and rubber, it feels like I am pushing too hard for it's mount.
    Which makes sense, since this aside it's the same mechanism as the G25 or G27, which had a reputation for having light pedals.
    With the stock setup this feels great, but I will probably make this upgrade down the line.

    • @mungaloidender
      @mungaloidender 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fail4lot From what I understand. The G29 stock brake pedal has a small piece of rubber inside of the spring tube to make the pedal feel a little stiffer when pressed down to full range. Because of this the G29 wheel's firmware adds a bit of an upward input curve to braking strength to compensate for the stiffness and reduced full range of motion from that of the G27 which does not have the same rubber piece. This was considered an upgrade to the feel of the pedals, otherwise identical to the G27. The Leo Bodner adapter bypasses the G29 firmware by hooking directly to the pc. Giving the pedal a linear input Like the stock G27 Before it.

I just recently visited his state for a death in the family. He showed me his racing wheel and pedals. I then watched him play Iracing stuff and seen how he was having to use his hand on the pedals while steering with the other hand and felt terrible because hes really into racing. The wheels with analog paddles seem super expensive. Being handicapped, he struggles financially and hes recently started a family. I'm trying to build him a sim rig. I was really wanting to do a 2DOF with traction loss using aluminum extrusion after looking into everything heavily. I'm not wealthy either lol. I've realized it might be out of reach for me to do for him. Everything seems pretty expensive. But I REALLY want to make his sim dreams happen. Can anyone point me in the right direction on a build thats 2dof with traction loss that isnt going to cost more than 1.5 grand? Its going to take me long enough to learn actuators and servos. There has been a lot of hate on this mod, mostly because of the way it is marketed. Despite that, once you use it you realise it is an excellent mod which is much cheaper than but the equal of a load-cell mod for the Logitech pedals. Yes, it won't be as good as pedals designed for load-cells but it is pitched perfectly for the Logitech pedals. However, if you do not have any pedals as yet, it is not economically smart to buy the Logitech pedals and the TrueBrake mod together. It will be cheaper and ultimately much better to buy one of the various entry-level load-cell pedal sets available from Fanatec in 2022 on. So, if you are on a budget and do not expect to buy more kit, get the TB. If you are starting from scratch, look at a different wheel and pedal combination.

    you’ve got a great voice. thank you for the tear down and review. you said the product works, and justifies the price. as a viewer, i would have appreciated guidance on how well this compares to low end load cell pedals like the TLCM from thrustmaster. would you be able to get lower lap times or more confidence and consistency on the TLCM pedals? if so, by how much? you put a couple hours into driving this, so you already know what your time trial times would be on this versus whatever your go-to pedals are, and i would appreciate if you shared that.

    I have the same Next Level Racing DD Wheel Stand, I used a second pedal plate from previous rig it has a 90 degree angle and I bolted them together. I used an adaptor from G27 pedals to my TM T500 wheel base. I had to cut the grounds since I pulled the assemblies from the plastic case and grounded it thru the metal to metal contact. It is in the instructions for mounting your pedals to the DD Wheel Stand. His uses the connection away from the wheel base. Just something to keep in mind.

    Also, a question- Should I go for the Logitech G29? It's way cheaper and the only difference I'm aware of is the loadcell simulator on the newer sets, which is pointless if I plan on doing this mod. Also I hear the new pedals have a weird exponential curve in the brake pedal.

    I'm looking to get this brake mod but I was curious. I play on a G920 on my Xbox, where is this firmware curve applied? Is it in the firmware in the Logitech computer program or is it somehow applied in the wheel when the signal is sent through the wheel to the console?

  • @spookytkid
    @spookytkid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    just got it. easy to install for sure. I even got the cable to bypass the firmware but now the throttle is not working the same. I'm assuming because of the firm wear bypass. I am going to try their potentiometer upgrade for the throttle see if that helps. Sucks because if i had known that i would have saved a bunch of shipping and have both installed and working already.

    Pfff! This is a week to late, today my first load cell pedals arrived, the Fanatec CSL Elite LC to replace my G29s pedals. It feels very different, guess it takes some time to change from potentiometer G29 pedal to LC brake pedal. Did you guys go through this experience? How much time/hours did it take to get used to the LC brake? I am doing Practice and Special Events in ACC, not feeling ready to race online yet with the Fanatec LC brake :-)

    • @edteach3r
      @edteach3r 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ștefan Roșu : I had the same experience a number of years ago when I bought my CSR Elite pedals with adjustable loadcell brake. I was pretty darn good with my G27 pedals (which I had used since they came out until 2008), knowing exactly how to use ‘em to be effective in my racing... hit the brake pedal all the way to the floor and then ease off to release the lock-up (NOT the other way around). I found that I could be very consistent in my braking and enjoyed the immediate, light response of the brake pedal ... very helpful on turn-in. The good news is that it does not take long to get used to the load cell and it is definitely more life-like, even if I probably still was better with my G27 loosy-goosy brake.

  • @luluismo
    @luluismo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    but how does it feel compare to high end pedals? i understand its might not 100% competiable to fanatec or HPP pedals, but given most complains are about the brakes on logitech pendal, while now with truebrake mod, does it make the 5x or 10x high end pedals justifiable?
    I think a lot of people find its hard to justifiy how much you have to spend just wants to have a real car feel on your brake. like HPP pedals it cost 1500USD, thats almost a cost of a high-end PC. if the truebrakes can at least get similar feel in 80%, i'd say i'll recommend people go with G29 with mods, rather than high end pedals
