Hey guys! So as a very small handful of you know, I suffered a brain injury around a year ago around when I started uploading to the channel again... This injury took away my vocal abilities, the ability for me to speak coherently and clearly, and that sucks because I've ALWAYS wanted to add my voice to my videos and now I don't know if I will ever get the chance to. So as a compromise, you're just gonna have to deal with the crappy robotic voice over in lieu of my actual voice. But I promise that if my voice ever gets better then I will 100% add it to the videos. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the video today! Don't forget to take a look at my Patreon or TH-cam Memberships to get access to ALL of the shader presets used in this video! you can use ElevenLabs to replicate your voice (from old recordings) and use it as text to speech, or one from their library, it's 100000% better than this robotic voice over
Oh yeah! Pleaseee let me know if you guys enjoyed the video and would like to see more videos just like this! I'm thinking of showing off ray tracing in games that aren't Ratchet & Clank and would like to gauge some interest in this idea... So if you enjoyed the format, let me know!!!!
the 'shadow' effect happens because reshade can only recognize things visible on screen (screen space reflections), if it goes behind anything then it cant recognize the lights
Hey, Amazing video! The reason why the weird shadowy effect happens around Ratchet is the same reason why the lighting disappears when you cannot see the source (for example if you pan the camera away from a light to the point where it isn't seen anymore, Ratchet won't be lit up anymore). This effect is created in "screen-space," meaning that it relies on the information that you can see Ratchet creates weird shadow effects because his body is blocking the light. The shader doesn't have any information on what is BEHIND ratchet. You can see this very well at 5:07. These types of issues are called "artifacts". Unfortunately this is just the way these sorts of shaders work and while there are some ways around it, there aren't any solutions. The only solution would be to have full-on raytracing integrated in the game, but that is expensive and that is why we are only seeing it in recent years. Hope this helps!
Can't believe what a difference it makes! Fair play for getting this working on these games! Sorry to hear about the injury though man, you're a legend for letting it stop you from doing this. If you ever think about someone reading off a script you'd written as commentary i'd be up for something like that (no pressure, just a friendly offer) :) Keep it up
@@theultimategamer95 No, this guy didn't write the shaders. He got them from the internet and changed some settings. You also can't use the whole pack at once, this is several shaders you'll have to manually switch between based on where you are at.
It looks pretty great in most places! Axiom City and the Great Clock look a bit blown out though, probably because the ray tracing stacks with the lighting techniques already in the level, making the intensity a bit overwhelming. It would probably look better toned down a bit in those places. (I'm not a fan of the text to speech voice...)
So cool! now you need to do even Quest for Booty and Into the Nexus!! and if you wanna go on another games do it with Sly cooper and jak and daxter 😁 cant wait!! i love your videos, nobody does what you do
hey! how did you manage to get the depth buffers to line up with your resolution? Whenever i try to apply rtgi i have a buffer mismatch and all characters and objects have a weird little ghost behind them that I cannot get to go away lmao
To tell you the truth, Kortog looks pretty bad, because it makes everything look flat. Like, literally flat. Lots of games, especially starting at this time, used normal maps and other tricks to add depth to textures themselves, to avoid using extra polygons that eat up the power. It looks like these reflections ignore the normal maps, meaning the textures dont have depth anymore. If they arent normally supposed to ignore those normal maps, then maybe those textures dont have normal maps, and the only thing selling the depth was the colour map being made with that in mind.

Thank you bro!
Slowly but surely every day 😁
oh dear! best of recovery, mate! ;o;
@@kokorogensou thank you!!

Can't wait for Size Matter and Secret Agent Clank Ray-tracing
out of all the games😂
Watching this made me realize how much Into the Nexus could benefit from this upgrade...and a 60 fps mod too.
Hmmm 👀
You can easily play Nexus in 60FPS with RPCS3, I have a gameplay in 60FPS on my channel if you want to check out :)
(you must set VBlank Frequency to 120 instead of 60)
I have a 60fps gameplay of Nexus on my channel if you want to check out. It's quite easy with RPCS3
@@v_e_l_d I think he means on PS3
This game almost doesnt change. Which is a good for devs. It means they made their best in their time.

Hell yeah, honestly Half Life 2 RTX is the game I'm waiting for the most
Looks amazing. Wish we could get a remaster for the future trilogy.
Seeing these ray tracing add-ons to the R&C games make me think "Yeah, the rest of the series can be ported to PC"

Wow! The games look absolutely incredible!
Indeed! 👀

From a PS3 to a PS5 game by just adding RTX damn!
They look stellar!
This is what we need from Insomniac on PS5
Off to a great start with everyone's favorite level - Mukow, baby!!🌚🥂🌝

Looks stunning bro ! Its what i always wanted !
Insomniac, hire this dude. I want an official remaster collection release with this now.

This is why "hire this man" is a meme
Some low quality filter is no where near acceptable as official quality
Woooooooooooooah
eyo it's the goooat
😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥
@@nchldmn Right??
This is awesome!! I have wanted to see insomniac make a remake of the future series, but this is almost as good.
I'd argue that this is best; no need to change movement or animations, just give it a new coat of paint and we're set
looking really nice !
what pc specs are you running to get this result ?
Off the top of my head…
An Intel i5 12400F and a RTX 3070 8gb
This is incredible work
Thanks!

This looks so good I'm ratchet and cranking it rn
I guess it's because of his hitbox that the dark light/box apears
Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do
After ps2 ratchet became to kidsfriendly and lost its edge.

Nice job
Thank you!

what's your computer please put that in the description
All done bro :)
the games already had great lighting work, they barely benefit from ray tracing ngl
Anyone know how to extract the 3d models ? I’ve gotten to .irb files and cant get any further
So when is insomniac going to ask you to release the remaster versions to ps5?👀
I'm sure this minute change is worth 90% of your fps
okay but now do this with sex mod
Thats a cool rtx but I don't like the voice :/
Also, your settings could have been better if you had more knowledge!!
Rtx is trash
