- "Ratchet & Clank - Life of Pie" - While on an inter-galactic pizza run, Ratchet and Clank discover that the diabolical Dr. Nefarious has developed an interdimensional portal device that would allow him to rule the entire multiverse. The intrepid duo spring into action, liberating the “Portalizer” from Dr. Nefarious and then racing off to securely lock it away in a weapons museum. But along the way, they run into bumbling Captain Qwark, who uses the weapon to accidentally unleash a sentient-pizza-topping mob upon the citizens of Galactic City. It’s up to Ratchet and Clank to battle the savory horde and keep the Portalizer out of Dr. Nefarious’ evil hands before he uses it to destroy the galaxy.

Now THIS is Ratchet And Clank, much better than the movie. The movie should've had this kind of writing.
Well the movie is an alternate universe same with this game, their apart of the infinitely expanding omniverse of ratchet and clank with rift apart's ratchet and clank being the originals.
But you ain't wrong but when you think of it like I said then the movie can kinda start to be appreciated.
That 'Backup gloves' gag had me laughing out loud. That's such a subtle, specific reference to how every Lombax is always wearing gloves for some reason. There was a lot of references and item models from previous games, but it also wasn't boring or expositional or super serious story edgy Ratchet from the Future series, I liked it a lot. I think if they make it into a series it doesn't have to be super cannon serious storyline like the game series, cartoons have a different pacing and it's interesting seeing the characters outside of the 'epic' storyline. Let the writers have some fun with it (if they even decide to do it), while keeping to original cannon as much as possible, that's how good stuff gets made when creativity flows.

It could work well! Even more if it takes place after Rift Apart, with episode with Rivet and Kit, AND with Dr. Nefarious (who could being in a arc where he is in doubt about wanting to continue as a villain or not)

I had no idea what to expect with this. I wasn't expecting Ratchet or Clank to have their personalities back. I wasn't expecting to have my mouth WATER at the idea of a 300+ topping pizza. I wasn't expecting to laugh out loud because of a PUN. And I certainly wasn't expecting to be absolutely amazed by this GORGEOUS animation. Top notch all around

puns are the lowest form of humour and I just 'Cranked' that one out. Let's Ratchet up the quality eh. I could go on but it's pun-ishing to operate at this level of humour. This Lombax didn't want to use the Dimensionator to find his family, yet he used a similar (yet seemingly weaker) device to open a portal to the Pizza Dimension.

Super sad both titles aren’t cross platform cos i miss out on later Ratchet games but PS owners are robbed of the phenomenal S…OD which is my favorite game of all time & i know I’m not alone in that. Not fair -an exclusive is just paying to keep top titles from the competitor’s player base which is a Dick Move in both directions.

The fact that the pizza people seemed to calm down seems to indicate Quark had a talk with them while Rachet and Clank were gone. Maybe it was about why he went on a Pizza rampage saying about how everyone loves Pizza and he just couldn't help himself. That could explain why people were cheering. At least his heart is sort of in the right place.
Quark has actually proven himself to be a skilled diplomat and military commander (see up your arsenal). He just likes the limelight too much and is horrible in battle.
Qwark's actually something of a savant. He's skilled with piloting ships and actually has some real muscle, he's just held back by his narcissism and cowardice.@@matthew8153

Why wasn't the 2016 movie this good? It was just Ratchet and Clank but dumbed down for kids. In this 23 minute short the characters are actually who they are in the games, not what the studio decides their personalities should be so they are "safe for kids"!
Except that Clank doesn't atone from stupidly telling Quark about the power of a very dangerous device.
Clank made mistakes in the games as well, and he admitted he screwed up here.
Definitely missed the edge on the series.

If I were to make something like that, I would have a Dreadzone series with having Team darkstar with the same as all 4 one. first, Cap’n Starshield, kid nova ratchet & clank would be Team darkstar, but then after ratchet and Clank survives they would become all serious and each of the new members, including ratchet & Clank Dr. Nefarious, Cap’n Qwark. Each one will go against the exterminators.

I love the conflict between Ratchet and Clank. Since they changed Ratchet's personality I was wondering how they'd disagree and have personal conflicts. Ratchet is getting an ego and I love Clank being petty.
Not necessarily an ego, just a slightly selfish prick, as with his original personality in the very first game. Like Mainframe were trying to apologize for Ratchet being a wide-eyed good boy in the movie. Which i find to be pretty funny. Clank being petty is a bit out of character, trying to anger Ratchet on purpose by bringing that dickhead Qwark on the mission, fully knowing that he will steal the credit.

Its also fun to note that they gradually warm back up to each other as ratchet realizes how big a a threat Drek poses. They don't just stay jerk for the last section only to 180 at the climax. Yay proper character writing.

Mainframe, you have restored my childhood love for good old Ratchet and Clank. Excellent writing! Characters are very faithful to the older games by far. I would have loved to see the two characters butt heads in the movie (and reboot game) like they did in this short. If only Insomniac took Ratchet and Clank back to their roots a bit more.

I agree that almost every character is pretty out of character in this. If there ever is going to be a Ratchet and Clank TV series it has to try harder than this.
Even Ratchet? I wouldn't say he's so much "stupid" in this as he is selfish. Like an anti-hero. But his personality still feels believable for a teenager or young adult (he's 19 according to Google), and he does eventually do the right thing, so I wouldn't say his personality is detrimental.

This entire video was absolutely entertaining, and moreso than the 2016 movie AND Rift Apart. Ratchet and Clank actually had personalities that seem to best fit their characters, and through good pacing and humorous moments, it was a complete package of fun to watch.
None of this has been present for a very long time in the series, and while I'm glad that both our main characters have grown past the minor childish acts they commit here, I'd still want them to carry the sort of dynamic that makes them both work. I'm real happy that this short movie exists, and I hope to see more of it.

Actually, the ratchet and clank games are all 60 FPS.
@@matthew8153 Not all of them. From R&C: A4O, they swapped to 30FPS. Ratchet 2016 is only 60FPS on PS5 and Rift Apart requires you to use Performance or Performance RT mode to hit 60FPS.

He wasn't douchey after the first game, but he was stubborn, and sarcastic. In this one, it's non-canon but he seems to have his Future Series personality, a mix between his old one and new one, where if something keeps getting in his way he gets pissed, but is generally friendly.

AGH the chemistry between these two is done great here! Story is about on par from what I expected from a ratchet and clank cartoon. Funny as hell, action packed and very silly. Just- UGH I'd kill to have a full animated series in this style.

What the gosh dang heck is this show? Like it came out of NOWHERE, It doesn't even directly promote Rift Apart. It's a total acid trip of an episode. And I love it. Like seriously I love this way too much it feels like. I wish we could get more. A whole show of THIS insanity? Frickin hell yeah, dude!
I would like to see a Ratchet and Clank TV series. It reminds me a lot about Sonic Boom and how that was. This though should be pitched to either Netflix or some other streaming service that isn't HBO.
